Although it really wasn't expensive, for what i paid for the 4 nights, a few cans of paint and a good carpet cleaning would make a world of difference.

Really small shower
Great location - right in the city centre, lovely neighbourhood. Very friendly and helpful personnel. Cosyhouse.
Some people very smoking in their room and the smell came into my room.
Hoksbergen Hotel is directly in the centre of Amsterdam, thus everything is actually in walking distance from the Hotel. Our room had a nice view of one of the canals.
The room was so small that it was more of a room for one, and not for two people.
Tony Chu was real cool !!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
they are helpful
not comfortable and clean enough
Location is as good as it gets in Amsterdam. Short tram ride or a 15-20 min walk from main train station. Walking distance to basically anywhere in Amsterdam. Breakfast was great. Canal view from room was beautiful. Neighborhood is very safe.
The rooms are extremely small - especially the bathroom. Also, if you want to pay with a credit card, they charge you a 5% fee which was annoying - we spent 3 weeks in Europe and this is the only hotel that charged such a fee. These are small trivial issues though...I highly recommend this hotel for the friendliness of staff, good breakfast, and perfect location.
We wanted an apartment hotel to ease the cultural transitions at the beginning of our holiday. Their apartments at GastHuismolensteeg was ideal. It is centrally located and we could get around very easily. The hotel staff was friendly and considerate.
The location at the Singel kanal is wonderfull. The breakfast is very varied.
My single room was very small..... I would only recommend if one could be sure to be booking a room with a view to the Singel canal.
The hotel was very cental for everything
great value for money. its desperately hard to find another hotel that offers the same facilities for that price in that location. wonderful hotel recommended to anyone who has no problem climbing lots of steep stairs.
relatively small rooms, although bigger than the photographs would lead you to believe. The steep and narrow staircase can become annoying. also the staff could be a little more professional. But again, these are very small complaints especially when you look at the price.
Hotel Hoksbergen is a charming boutique hotel that is situated inside a 300-year-old canal house along Singel, one of the four oldest canals in Amsterdam. Just outside of the city center, it is still within easy reach of Dam Square. From here, a traveler can walk quickly to the Historical Museum Amsterdam, University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Dungeon, the Krijtberg Church, and the Royal Palace Amsterdam. The Anne Frank House is half of a mile away, as well as the Rembrandt House, and world-class shopping can be enjoyed along Kalverstraat, The Nine Streets and Bijenkorf, all within 500 feet of the hotel.
While placing a traveler in the heart of the city’s best neighborhoods is a wonderful plus, this hotel also features excellent amenities and services. There is a typical Dutch breakfast each morning that includes meat, boiled eggs, cheeses and more. There is a concierge desk, luggage storage options, and private check-in and check-out, which means the most customized stay imaginable.
The rooms are often described as a treat for their location in the heart of the city’s picturesque center, and each is reached via a classic set of steep Amsterdam-styled steps. There are several that look out directly over the canal. All rooms feature full, private bathrooms with premium linens and toiletries. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and rooms offer a work desk and chair, telephone service, TV with entertainment stations, and more.
Whether it is a business trip to Amsterdam or a leisurely visit to this charming city, the Hotel Hoksbergen offers truly unique accommodations. Tucked into a historic building and gazing down over a canal, it is a wonderful way to experience the city.
