Overview

On the wide Platte River plains of central Nebraska, the SureStay Plus by Best Western Grand Island makes an easy base in Grand Island, Nebraska, just off State Route 34 near the regional airport. Each spring the Platte River valley draws one of nature's great spectacles, when hundreds of thousands of sandhill cranes gather along the river on their migration, a sight that fills the skies near Grand Island. The rest of the year keeps its own rhythm, with the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer telling the homestead story, the Island Oasis Water Park cooling summer afternoons, and Fonner Park and the Heartland Events Center hosting racing and fairs down the road. A hearty daily breakfast with hot and cold options opens the day, and comfortable rooms give travelers a quiet place to land. Lunch and dinner sit close at hand across the street and around the area. Where the cranes gather on the Platte, Grand Island puts the heart of Nebraska close.
