Pros: Breakfast is good. Staff were nice. Comfortable stay. Love the air-conditions
Cons: Parking is high for the location 8 euros per night. For the location of the hotel you can normally have a free parking on the street. We need to pay because we have no other choice because where the hotel is situated . Please install the lift on the other part of the hotel too. My dad is 80 years old and we have to walk up the stairs because no lift on the other side of hotel.

NH Heidelberg - Heidelberg - Building
2
8.1 Excellent (4,227 reviews)
Overview Reviews
In the heart of Heidelberg’s Bergheim district, the NH Heidelberg Hotel provides a comforting and historic retreat for business and leisure travelers in Germany’s oldest university town. The hotel’s strategic location is in close proximity to Zoo Heidelberg and Neckarwiese, a park beloved by city residents for picnics and scenic views of the peaceful Neckar river. Guests can reach the city center on foot in ten minutes. A block from the Volkshochschule tram station, the traveler also has access to many Old Town attractions including the 16th century Heidelberg Castle and Church of the Holy Spirit by tram. For regional destinations, the guest can walk a few blocks farther to embark from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof train station. NH Heidelberg combines classic and contemporary styles in the property. The older portion of the hotel was formerly the site for Heidelberg Brewery, and still retains much of its brewery history and charm. Some say master brewer Friedrich Kleinlein still haunts the lobby. Guests can sip wines from the Bergstrasse area and the local Heidelberger Schlossquell beer at the hotel’s Gallo Nero restaurant or the lobby bar. In the summer months, the restaurant opens its outdoor beer garden to its dining patrons.
7.0 Good
Pros: location is ok
Cons: you had to climb the labyrinth to get to the room. two stairs up, then two stairs down and so on..
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in excellent location.

Pros: Hotel was very nice looking from the front desk. I really hoped I could stay there. Staff was helpful and made sure I was as taken care of as I could be for the situation
Cons: I booked only to turn up and find that their was no availability so I was shipped to another hotel that was not as nice.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: room size wellnes area
Cons: extra payment for parking lot bathroom needed an service (update)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent as was the garage parking. The staff helpful in giving us directions to various sites of interest such as the ancient castle/Schloss which looked splendid as the sun was setting.
Cons: We were there on Shrove Tuesday which is Carnival day! Would avoid that in future.
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel was centrally located to the main train station which was fantastic. The staff helped us as soon as we walked through the doors and there was a small refreshment stand with candy and water. The rooms were small however clean and the window opened to overlook the lovely landscape of Heidelburg. The sauna area was lovely and very soothing after a long day of travelling. However the water station is as empty and there was a mountain of dirty towels with few clean ones to use. The beds were comfortable however the sheets where scratchy and made for a mediocre sleep. On the plus side, breakfast was lovely and had many options to choose from. Would attend again if the rate was less as scratchy sheets make for a less than perfect night's rest.

Cons: Very good
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Staff were excellent
5.0 Okay
Cons: 2 rooms we had, both filthy. We found somebody else’s hair bobble by the bed (not small, the size of a watch) and stains on bathroom tops next to sink and on mirrors. Had 2 adults and 2 children for breakfast, same price for all.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: But run down

6.7 Good
Pros: Clean and comfortable family room. Our children enjoyed the bunk beds in the cupboard! Honesty bar was a good idea.
Cons: The air conditioning didn’t appear to work and the WiFi was a little patchy. The turnstile into breakfast was a little unusual and there was no tea!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, tidy, tidy, no issues
Cons: A little way from the centre but public transport very good and we were aware before we bookrd
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The tiny Hairdo bags they put under our pillow - the kids liked it. But sadly that's about it.
Cons: The reception staff didn't speak any english, weren't very smiley at all or welcoming and they didn't have any guides or information in English either nor were they willing to help us out. They gave us two rooms on the ground floor with no air con, opposite a building site with excavators and with damp sheets. The shower room was one flat floor and the water run out. No kettle or tea and coffee in the room and 14 Euros to have a poor breakfast. ( which we didn't). Narrow parking which we scratched our car, expensive too and overall, hard mattress and very poor service. This is not a tourist friendly hotel this is pass though only for Germans and not worth the money. We spent 12 euros one ay to go into town and over two days we spent nearly 50 on tickets, which were never checked. The reception was mostly closed in the evening. Very unfriendly.

Pros: If what you are looking for is a room with clean bed sheets, clean bathroom, TV, decent heating (I was there in January), hair dryer, easy access throughout the night, 10 minutes walk from the central train station, then this is a place for you.
Cons: But if you would like to have some extras such as a water cooker for a hot cup of coffee or tea, a mini bar, something more than a tiny bottle of shower gel, a vending machine for nighttime emergencies, and no cleaning lady opening your door before check-out time, then look for something else.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, clean place and nice staff.

9.4 Excellent
Pros: The front desk staff made every effort to be helpful even with issues beyond their control.
Cons: The location was farther than we expected from the old city.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: They dont have refrigerator
7.9 Good
Pros: Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was pretty fine.
Cons: Although we wanted to check-in at 14.30, they wanted 15€ for the early check-in. That wasn’t nice because it was only 30 mins earlier than the check-in time.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the location is great right next to the train station... 2 min walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was sparkling clean.
Cons: we were there in February, the room was a little bit to hot because of the heater, it was not possible to put the temperature down, I think was central so not possible to control it directly at the room.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Room design and cleanliness
Cons: Pillows far too soft - I simply couldn't sleep well. Breakfast delocalised to conference centre not up to standard
5.0 Okay
Cons: breakfast in a separate building due to renovations, had to walk outside in the cold breakfast was merely passable the noise from the bar on the ground floor was audible thru the door from the 4th floor!!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I travelled here for a weekend with my girlfriend. we liked the general space and the modern layout. the bar was also nice to have, with solid food and drink options. the area is quiet and relatively tranquil, since it is a bit removed from the city center.
Cons: we would have preferred a higher floor. additionally, we arrived by train and ended up walking to the hotel. it is a long walk, and not a comfortable one on the heidelberg streets. were it not for the winter cold, it would've been a much more pleasant experiencee.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Shower
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was amazing, the bar food wonderful. The Espresso machine on the room was a savior. The breakfast was really good with a very big variety of things to eat.
Cons: Lack of cleanliness: you could see dust in a lot of places. Every day the room should be tidied and cleaned, it did not happen. The bed was not well made, doe the towels were always where they should be, clearly the dis not had lot of caution regarding the shower. The coffee cups that were in the room weren't well washed (I had to wash them). Not mentioning that the restaurant was on renovations (warned on arrival): The breakfast was outside of the hotel, at another building. On Monday the morning started at 8 AM (construction noises). The biggest problem is that no one warned us about this beforehand.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money. Located outside the city center in a modern business center. Supermarket and shopping close by. Room very spacious, like a good sized studio apartment. Small kitchen, large bathroom. Beds were large+big TV. My bed had a bit of a dip in it, but only thing I found that could be corrected. Great for a family for a short stay. We were three and we staryed only one night. Tram into town is close by and leaves you in the middle of town.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole thing was good
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Roomy bedroom
Cons: We couldn't get the Wifi to work
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great.
Cons: A little far away from the city centre but well connected to public transport.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: We booked it for the private parking (car was full with bags) but we were asked to park in the street. There was a zooming noise all night. If you sleep lightly that is a problem. The bathroom really smelled like cigarettes. Finally, it was super cold. We tried to heat it up. In vain.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This was my second stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Sorted the wifi issue I had immediately. Room was spacious, kitchen has the essentials. AC is very effective. Room has a sofa and dining table too. Shower room is big and the radiator works.
Cons: TV doesn't have BBC channels. Pillows are too big for me and the mattress bit soft. Kitchen could do better with an oven/grill for pizza etc. And a few complimentary English tea bags would have been nice.

4.0 Okay
Pros: Very good location and a hassle free self check in and check out that was very convenient. Bed was comfortable and plenty of outlets / usb. Dog friendly too!
Cons: The toilet was dirty / un-flushed and the toilet paper was off the holder on the ground. It was very hot and the fan supplied in the room (no air con) was so noisy it was impossible to sleep with it on - similar issue when the windows were open because the location is just off Bismarkplatz. No parking but this is really to be expected in city center Heidelberg- and there is one around the corner that is pretty reasonably priced.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: breakfast overpriced. First morning I asked if breakfast was included and I was told yes. It wasn't. Got about 6 emails after reservation forcing me to use mandatory app to check in and out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location. Coziness.
Cons: Amenities in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent position, nice staff and comfortable room. Very good bakery really near the hotel with buttered pretzels!
6.3 Good
Pros: Room was large, neatly decorated and had a very modern large bathroom as well.
Cons: The room was consistently hot and when you try to cool it off by opening the windows you were faced with a smell of burnt food mixed with cigarettes from a restaurant next-door. Do not stay in a room facing the courtyard. Our room was 126, which was particularly bad. Additionally the hotel walls appear to be very thin and we seemed to be able to hear noise from all over the hotel.
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and very nice staff. Good location.
Cons: Glass door to bathroom (very bright during night if someone is using it). No kettle in room. Pipes were loud.
6.0 Good
Pros: Excellent breakfast and nice room. Good internet too.
Cons: Terrible parking, and to help with that part-time staff that couldn't help us to get in.
7.5 Good
Cons: They draw price twice from credit card

Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpfull, also location was great for my need of easy acces to technological incubator of Heidelberg university.
Cons: Breakfast could be certianly improoved. I had missed during breakfast fried ham or/and scrambled eggs. Cons: bed a little too soft for me - but that's not a big issue

Pros: I made a mistake in the booking date, which was set one week too early. I only realised the mistake after the schduled arrival. But when I called up, the hotel was very supporting and agreed to shift the booking to my new arrival date at no penalty or extra charge. The hotel is in quiet neigbourhood, though a bit far from Heidelberg town (2.3 km, 30 min walking). But with 5 minutes walk, one can get to the tram lines at Hans-Thoma Platz, Handschuhsheim and take the tram to Bismarkplatz. Free off street car park available.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the free beverages and cereal, and there was a very cozy sitting area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect in every way - the manager is a traveller herself and it really shows. The common area feels like a home from home, the beds are big and comfy and there's free coffee & cereal always available. Couldn't be in a better location either. Will be back 100%!
Cons: Unimprovable :)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice & helpful staff .❤️❤️❤️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is right near the castle and other main attractions. Rooms, Beds, Showers were all clean. Free cereal, tea and coffee anytime! A very chill atmosphere, one of the guests even cooked dinner for everyone couldn’t be happier.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was amazing, the location was great. A living room/ hangout area wit lots of books.
Cons: The layout was a bit odd for this type of space but it was not an issue.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the location, a very kind staff, pretty design of room...Everything!:)) I want to visit Heidelberg to stay in this hostel again:))
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff, really relaxing atmosphere. You can tell the hostel owner puts a lot of heart and soul in its operations.
7.5 Good
Pros: Big clean double room on the third floor
Cons: Wifi not working in 2019, really ??!! Cold batteries even on max in December. The price is not adequate, does not make sense to pay so much for the location only, everything is close anyway.

Pros: You have access to all you want when you stay here, we stayed 4 nights. We had the view of old bridge and the river and just walking distance to the supermarket, restaurants and shopping centers. Highly recommend!
Cons: The breakfast can be improved.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Location and cleanliness were great
Cons: Had to pay for parking off premises but I believe that’s standard for hotels in this area if you want “OldTown Heidelberg “
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place in a perfect location in the Old Town
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent--right on the river looking up at the castle, next to the old part of town; the breakfast was very nice, and the price was appealing, though I traveled in January.
Cons: The hotel is quite old and has not been updated much inside, except for the bathroom, which seems very up-to-date. It is well-maintained and the rooms are large, but it felt less appealing because of the age. Also the parking situation is difficult--you must drive a difficult route to reach the parking terrace (a city facility which is quite nice) and then a 10 minute walk back to the hotel, which was manageable but not preferred.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel full of character and charm and in a great location right by the old bridge over the Neckar River in the old part of the city. My room looked out over this view and it was fabulous. Very warm room given how cold it was outside so this was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. Decent breakfast. Comfortable bed and the room had all I needed. Glad I opted to stay here instead of a bland corporate hotel.
Cons: Nothing at all!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable room.

Pros: Spotlessly clean. Friendly staff and homey atmosphere. Good breakfast. Nice touches: complimentary small bottle of Chilean wine and bottle of water and a bag of chewy candies on the pillow.
Cons: Chiliean wine not palatable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, location, location. Right in the heart of old town Great little hotel Friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: It would need a fan or air con in Summer.
9.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and hospitality.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location in the heart of the old town. Lots of character. Friendly helpful staff. Large comfortable room (room 3). Good breakfast mostly continental buffet with limited hot choices.
Cons: The hotel feels a little bit of a sideshow to the restaurant, with the reception desk at the back of the restaurant. The restaurant was fully booked both of our nights which was a shame. Personally I think a hotel should save a table for staying guests, at least for their first night, or else enquire in advance whether they would like to book a table.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location! Walking distance to the castle, bridge, old town area. Room was much larger than a typical hotel in Europe. They thoughtfully provided earplugs on the nightstand, we discovered, because street noise can be heard even on the top floor. Street is cobblestone, so if they are wheeling garbage bins, or honking horns, you will hear it if you are a light sleeper. Nice restaurant for breakfast that is included. They make great cappucino too!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our room was wonderful (big, clean, and quiet) and the property location and charm couldn’t be beat.
Cons: As they noted in a pre-arrival email, parking is a distance away. It would have been nice if they had a map we could take with us available—they had one copy and didn’t want to let it leave the hotel for fear it would disappear. Check out was not smooth—we waited for almost 15 minutes before being helped as the desk staff was giving EXTENSIVE tour guide information to another guest (including walking onto the street and pointing out directions), then it took another 20 minutes to find our information, reboot the credit card machine, get paper in the printer..... she was very friendly, but it wasn’t a great way to end the visit. One piece of advice—please improve internet speed and consistency. It was basically un-useable in the rooms and common area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a great place in the town center. The staff was awesome and very tourist friendly.
Cons: It was all great. Would stay there again and recommend it to anyone traveling to Heidelberg.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last 20 years and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Heidelberg. It has an old world charm and historic relevance that is well worth a visit. The upgraded bathrooms are nice and clean. There is a lift. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Cons: This is a beautiful, historic building, but sadly has not had a sympathetic revamp of it's rooms. We have always stayed in a superior room, and were disappointed that the updating did not meet our expectations. The drapes were coming off the rail (albeit only at the edge); the mini-bar was a white fridge with wires showing where it was plugged in and the TV was balanced on top of it. The wardrobes were modern but seemed incongruous in the beautiful period room. We had a table and 2 chairs in the window alcove, but no comfortable easy chairs, so felt a little sparse for a superior room. Would also say that the welcome is not as good as it used to be, it was always nice to arrive after a long journey to a sparkling glass of Cava! Hope it improves before we return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely beautiful hotel, in perfect location, with super friendly staff. Very good breakfast too!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hotel with great welcoming staff! We will definitely come back on another trip.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved Being in the heart of the city next to a beautiful church. It is a beautiful hotel!
Cons: Parking was over four blocks away, And the hotel said they would pay for it but the voucher only paid two euro of the €12 do. Also, breakfast was supposed to be included but was not when we asked.
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great!
Cons: Our shower didn’t drain well. So my feet were in 4 inches of water within a matter of minutes. They offered another room so that was nice. Also the street was noisy with drunks until 5 am.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was just amazing!
Cons: Everything was great.
