Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is a wonderful place to stay. It has the feel of a remote location but is roughly a 10 minute drive from Bowmore. The hosts are fab and the comfort is second to none.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Thomas, our host, was very welcoming and clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay. The breakfast choices were extensive and everything was beautifully presented. Would certainly recommend the signature dish. Room exceptionally clean and beautifully appointed with very comfy bed. The lounge and dining room were both beauifully appointed and very clean. If we were to return to Islay we would definitely book in at Skerrols House for a longer stay.
Cons: There was nothing at all to dislike
Excellent 10.0

Cons: Skerrols is a fantastic B&B, Tomasz is a great host and he and his wife provide a brilliant service. Nothing is too much trouble. If you want a top-notch B&B you cannot beat Skerrols.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: From the moment we drove up the driveway and were greeted by Thomas to the last beautiful breakfast, our stay was exceptional. The facility was spotless and the room was large with incredible details, providing incredible comfort during our stay. Thomas was extremely helpful on so many levels, making dinner reservations and recommending beautiful walks and rides. we felt like guests in someone’s manor but at the same time, we were provided with the privacy of a hotel. it may have been one of the fi eat stay we had in Scotland. Thank you and we will be back

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful accommodation throughout, very comfortable, delicious food, beautiful views and a great location.
Cons: This place is just perfect, I couldn’t fault anything.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Glenegedale House is so pretty (inside and out), but what made our stay was the warmth of Emma and Graeme. They always make the time to chat and give you advice about the island, and their cooking is sensational. After each busy day, we felt like we were coming home, rather than to a hotel, and curling up on the sofa with g&t and a book was perfect. I honestly can't recommend Glenegedale House highly enough and was so sad to leave.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The public areas were so stylish and comfortable. It had a country house feeling and the owners were excellent hosts. The food was sensational and the dining area was very gracious with beautiful crockery and crystal. Their range of gins was fun to test and the whisky with porridge at breakfast was revelationary!
Cons: The rooms seemed a tad small for the price and we would have loved a bath after our long cycle around the island. It's opposite the airport which luckily wasn't a problem at all as the flights are rare and small aircraft.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Exceptional hosts - so friendly and helpful with hints & tips for exploring to make the most of our stay. Beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean and extremely comfortable (& quiet) rooms & communal areas. Communal areas are thoughtfully designed so you can choose to be social with other guests or seek some calm after a day of exploring. Fabulous food - we thought the best on the Island - had breakfast and dinner throughout the week, with a nice variety and there with a great drinks menu to pair with it. Great location for exploring Islay, as a mile away (car or foot) from a gorgeous beach (The Big Strand) and also in the middle of Islay so easy driving accessibility everywhere on the island. Would highly recommend, made our trip to Islay extra special and looking forward to repeat visits.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Emma & Graeme were perfect hosts. The food was delicious, all home made. The seafood platter was fresh, lovingly presented and tasted divine. It was the little things that made our stay amazing: gin flights, local knowledge and the most amazing picnic hamper (see pic).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: From the minute you arrive to departure, Emma and Graeme go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay at their stunning guest house. Cake and tea on arrival: plentiful breakfast- you must try the porridge with Laphroaig whiskey and cream. Dinner is all local produce and was outstanding. Emma even sourced us some prosecco for our wedding anniversary as we don't like champagne. Cannot wait to return.!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I had such a lovely stay at Glenegedale. The room was extremely comfortable and clean. There was so much attention to detail throughout, and the food was exceptional. Emma and Graeme were really lovely hosts and really went out of their way to make me feel welcome in their home. Will definitely be back!
Cons: I could not fault any aspect of my stay. It was perfect.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We cannot fault Glenegedale House. Graeme and Emma are incredibly welcoming and hospitable. We were welcomed with tea and cake in front of the fire in a very comfortable sitting room. We opted for the seafood platter for dinner one night, which was phenomenal! At £100 for 2, it wasn’t the cheapest meal we have ever had, but incredibly good value given the amount of seafood we got and how tasty it was (all landed fresh on the same day at a harbour just down the road). Plenty of recommendations of things to do and see from our hosts. Literally across the road from the airport terminal building, so the location is great particularly if you are arriving by plane. Centrally located between the main towns of Port Ellen and Bowmore. Would not hesitate in booking Glenegedale House again.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Fabulous breakfast served in vintage crockery. Looked after very well by the very hospitable host Emma.
Cons: If evening meals could be provided I am sure they would be enjoyed thoroughly by the guests.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. Best breakfast I've had at a hotel/guest house and we've sampled many! Emma & Graham could not have been any more helpful, kind, considerate and friendly.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very friendly, helpful, pleasant staff. Good cycle parking. Clean. Good catering facilities. Fantastic drying room. Right by the sea - the sound of crashing waves.
Excellent 10.0
Cons: Staff lovely and very helpful. Port charlotte probably the nicest wee town in islay and the local hotel did amazing food
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Karl was amazing. Attentive, lovely and kind. The nicest concierge I’ve come across, and I’ve travelled a lot. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The breakfast, made by Karl was great. Overall, Karl made this a really great stay. I hadn’t intended to stay anywhere but due to the weather my camping plans had to change. This normally means it can get a little depressing going to a soulless hotel or hostel. Karl prevented that. Amazing dude.
Cons: Nothing. It was perfect
Excellent 9.0
Pros: An excellent and well run hostel. Thank you.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I’ve had mixed luck with youth hostels in the past, but this was very good and certainly a comfortable experience. Friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to assist, especially with additional difficulties caused by COVID. All the facilities you need are there, properly cleaned and in good working order.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Had the loveliest stay courtesy of Karl and Lorna. Very welcoming and the hostel was clean and cosy. Breakfast was especially good - definitely would come back!

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great choice for breakfast.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The view from room was, amazing
Cons: The stairs were a little too much for me but not complaining. I am not fit..
Poor 1.0
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Was informed days before my arrival that the restaurant and bar were to be closed during my stay. Therefore I tried to cancel and was told i wouldn't receive a refund. Very very disappointing.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great location, beautiful house, comfortable beds, nice food
Excellent 8.0
Pros: It was a stunning, old building with lots of character. Perfect for a wedding or family gathering . Exceptionally clean, bedroom amazing with comfortable bed/ duvet etc. Big old fashioned bath, lots of toiletries and plenty tea , coffe and biccies.
Cons: The dining room and bar were closed in the evening. To eat dinner you had to have a car to get to nearest village to get a meal, as the Bridgend Hotel is shut. Hotel was very quiet with one visible member of staff
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The Location of the hotel looking over the bay is stunning set in amongst a large lawn with ancient trees. There is a square with Island craft workshops just a short walk behind the hotel. The Hotel itself is a beautiful large historical building that has been refurbished to a high standard. The main hotel guest areas were immaculately clean. There are guest umbrella's at the door for when it rains & a box of lawn games for children to play with. The lady at reception was warm & welcoming. The hotel has been beautifully decorated & furnished thought-out all the main guest areas. It has a spectacular large open fireflace just as you come though the main entranceway with beautiful sofas & chairs for guests to relax in. The resturant felt very grand & the waiter who served us was very knowledgeable & attentive. The meals in the resturant where beautifully presented & were cooked to a high standard apart from the deserts (which looked well presented but were a bit disappointing- tough apple peel in the apple strudel & toffee sauce tasted burnt, my husbands dark chocolate desert contained virtually no chocolate just tons of cream which he couldn't Eat being lactose intolerant) Breakfast was good although toast was cold/served the ends of the loaf & had to ask for butter when waitress reappeared. All in all a lovely hotel, enjoyable stay with a few minor annoyances
Cons: The room looked as though it hadn't been properly vacuumed, there was bits all around the edge of the carpet including dead flies. The coffee & tea tray was dirty as though it hadn't been refreshed and there were no coffee sachets in it which was disappointing, but could have down to staff shortages due to Covid There was no curtain in the large bathroom window & no hooks of any kind to put up a sheet/no Frosted glass & there was a man down on the main lawn standing with his mobile phone - there needs to be some form of privacy when you use the loo!! We resorted to putting the ironing board up in front of the window with a bed sheet over it. We felt the dinner £35 for 2 courses/£40 for 3 courses (no option to buy a main seperately) & drinks menu was overpriced (£8 upwards for 125ml glass size) & the typical vegan option of 'mushroom rissoto unimaginative' hense why the resturant was 'empty' There was No Lift & no porter offered to help get your luggage up 2 flights of stairs The receptionist was friendly & offered to bring us up some soya milk for teas & coffees but never followed though dispite the hotel being 'very quiet' This hotel could benefit from better signage on the Road to the Hotel & some outdoor lights down the main driveway
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very good breakfast Vegetarian Breakfast available and very good
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great location, very good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, comforting wood burner, impressive decor!
Cons: Bit hard to find as a lack of signage
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A imposing building with impressive rooms. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Dinner and breakfast were perfectly cooked. I will happily return (soon)
Cons: Nothing, had a wonderful stay.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: One of the most exceptionally wonderful places we've ever stayed. Kate and her family made us feel incredibly welcome. The accommodation and location is absolutely idyllic and we didn't want to leave. The baked treats from Kate were fabulous, as were the breakfasts. I've traveled a lot around the world and without doubt this has been one of the best places I've stayed. Such an incredibly peaceful and beautiful location in such a wonderful room with epic views! The bed was beyond comfortable and huge too! We can't recommend this enough and we will definitely be visiting again! Thanks so much from Dale & Rhiannon.
Cons: Not a thing... everything was great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay at Burnside Lodge. Kate made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The covid restrictions were taken very seriously, but Kate and Tom have adapted to still make their guests feel comfortable. Very nice packed breakfasts were provided each morning and most mornings we sat at a picnic bench by the shore to enjoy them. The location is great, with views from the room over to the lighthouse at Orsay. We enjoyed coastal walks in the area and also some swimming. Kate's advice on these activities was much appreciated as was her information about the islands. Thanks very much and we hope to return in the future. :-)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The owner is lovely and will make you feel right at home! The b&b is comfortable and very clean, and perfect for the location. Our room had a view out over the lighthouse across the water which was beautiful. There is also parking.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike about this property!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The beautiful location. Friendliness of the owners!
Cons: Nothing

Excellent 10.0
Pros: clean and wonderfull
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovey building with even lovelier staff. Great breakfast and a good location for exploring Islay.
Good 6.0
Pros: Check in, breakfast
Cons: No storage, small bed
Excellent 9.0
Pros: We were not sure what to expect given that this is not the main hotel in Port Ellen and its photos did not do it justice, but it was very nice with a friendly/welcoming staff. The breakfasts were delicious with fresh eggs and the complete Scottish meat selections. Mostly we loved the location and settling in with locals at its Public Bar at the end of our days.
Cons: The rooms were a little too snug.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: That I only stayed one night!
Cons: Comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities with excellent biscuits3 The interior was quirky and beautiful. The breakfast was delicious
Excellent 9.1
Pros: The staff and owner were great! Room price included a wonderful breakfast.
Cons: Really small room, but I was warned about the size.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Andrew was exceptionally kind and accommodating - take his recommendations for the best food and sites on the island! The room was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. Really appreciated all the little touches.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The location was fine and the outlook could not be better
Cons: The breakfast portions were too large and there was not sufficient variety. I would have preferred a fruit and yoghurt option. Wrapping hot toast in tin foil makes the toast soggy
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Bowmore House is in an elevated position just a short distance from the village centre, with great views over the harbour and out over the loch. The house is spacious and airy with lovely large rooms. There is a safe, private car park. We were very fortunate and were upgraded to the Harbour View room, which had stunning views. In most hotels the room would be called a junior suite - with a large bed, seating area and table and chairs. The bathroom was large and gave great privacy. All fittings were good quality, the decoration was immaculate and everything was super clean. Each morning we had a delicious breakfast delivered to our room - totally COVID safe. Each room has a fridge with milk and juice etc for breakfast. The hosts kindly added other items to cater to my particular dietary needs. Andrew and Alison are excellent, friendly and generous hosts who made our stay really wonderful. I cannot recommend highly enough.
Cons: There is absolutely nothing to dislike.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything. Nice welcome and little samples of whisky left in the room. Also all so clean and sanitised, very Covid safe .
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Peaceful relaxing environment, in a huge room with excellent sea views, and owners who do their utmost to ensure your stay is trouble free.
Cons: There wasn't really anything not to like here, Andrew and Alison have mastered handling covid needs with customer satisfaction.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location and quiet, great room, and first class breakfast. 👌
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The property is right in the city centre, close to amenities and extremely well kept. The room was big and had an incredible bathroom, comfy bed and super service by the hosts!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great stay for business owner is really friendly and helpful and I was given homemade hot food which was great for my stay and really nice. Covid safety was excellent along with room and good Wi-Fi. Bonus was extra touches such as use of fridge and fresh milk and drinks. Ample parking and would definitely use if in area again. Thanks to you and your wife for lovely food and service.
Cons: nothing

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beautiful island location; comfortable room; a well stocked bar with local whiskies; great menu and tasty food; and friendly staff and great service.
Cons: Infrequent bus service to and from Port Charlotte to the rest of the island.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Arrived in to a very warm welcome and shown up to my room. The room was dual aspect, looking out to sea. From the bed it felt as if you were on an ocean cruise! Offered tea/coffee in the lounge area. Dinner that evening was excellent, in a very atmospheric room. Needing to catch an early ferry I was able to order an early breakfast. This was excellent. This is a charming, authentic gem of a hotel.
Cons: All was excellent.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Clean, roomy bedroom, hot shower, dog-friendly, friendly cheerful staff, lovely restaurant.
Cons: Charged for dogs staying even though we had them in our own dog cage in room.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Breakfast was perfect - good choices .
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Hotel ambience was excellent and the room was fine (comfortable with sea view). The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The food was superb - highlight of the stay. Would definitely revisit.
Cons: Room could have been a little larger but very little negative to say. We loved it.

Good 7.0
Pros: Great breakfast with a great view. Staff wee very friendly.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Clean, tidy and amazing costumer support
Cons: -
Good 7.0
Pros: Room was was nice, although it was configured in a double but had requests 2 singles. After speaking to the staff then sorted this out. Room / bathroom was clean.
Cons: Room was quite noisey, so would recommand asking for a non street facing room. Breakfast was OK on the first day, might have been due to the poor person who had to deal with all the guests on her on. Second day went better as it was quieter.
Excellent 8.0
Cons: The cooked breakfast was not good. I tried both the eggs benedict and salmon and scrambeled egg
Good 6.0
Pros: The location was very good
Cons: Terrible sewage smell, member of staff said it was due to the tide, but not convinced!
Good 7.0
Pros: Nice central hotel in Bowmore. Food was really good - we had lunch and breakfast at the hotel. Sign in the hotel said that the bar only takes cash!
Cons: Hot water pressure in bath was poor….just dribbled out. Whilst just my own view, I also thought that the ‘numerous’ emails I received from the hotel asking if I wanted to book a table for dinner was a little over the top!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is a great gem of a hotel, located right in the centre of Bowmore, minutes walk from Bowmore distillery, the wee co-op, bank, community swimming pool, tourist info, bus stop. Overlooking the beautiful bay. Lovely large immaculately clean room, deep luxurious carpets, large bathroom with bath & shower & plentiful Toiletries. Teas, coffees shortbread & crystal whiskey glasses provided in the room. Lovely large super king-sized bed. Meals in resturaunt delish & reasonably priced. Staff friendly & welcoming. Clean & freshly tastefully decorated
Cons: Mattress was a bit too firm but a minor annoyance
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The sea view from the room was wonderful. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day and the food was fabulous. And we tried a different local whisky every evening.
