Pros: Beautiful oasis and gardens well looked after with pool and outdoor covered eating areas. Small rooms with all the basics and lovely verandas. Lots of pillows and towels. Close to beaches.

Cons: Our room was quite small with 2 small double beds. Not big enough for a couple. Wifi didn’t work in the room but ok on the veranda and out by the pool.

Pros: Huge garden property with best pool in town. Lots of relaxing ambience. Great price for such a nice place.

Pros: I like the arquitectura, it’s nice, good view, nice location, clean, and beautiful view.

Cons: I don’t like that is hard to get to the property when you drive, there’s no sings to guide customer, when you find the entrance to the hotel, people who works in the gate they don’t give you a good feed to get to the hotel reception, there’s two gate you have to go true, but none of them giving the right directions, it’s a little confuse to fine the reception. Also the property need some cosmetic repairs, the pools tiles, and some updates in the rooms, specially in the bathrooms.

Cons: The need to take the water taxi to town can be daunting for some but we found it unique and an opportunity to be on the water as well as see everything from a new perspective

Pros: The hotel is a 4-5 star resort, the room was very nice and roomy. Breakfast buffet was included in price and was excellent, many choices and omelet station. Choice of ala carte or buffet for dinner. Had both and price and food was very good.

Cons: Drive takes about 30 minutes from Barra de Navidad but only 5 minute water taxi

Pros: Fantastic location with views and tropical feel throughout. So many choices of things to do from private beach as to jet skis, Golf, and Tennis courts with easy access in and out of this the BND village with multiple restaurant options.

Cons: To get into the village you have to walk down to the Water Taxi dock on the far side of the Property. Unfortunately when they have weddings they fail to notify you so after walking all the way down there you then have to turn around and walk all the way back to the marina side. Management should definitely place signs along the normal path AND notify guests as they check-in that there’s a wedding on a certain day during their stay and that that will be closed and that you need to use the Marina side. This is the second time this is happened and it’s a real annoyance

Pros: It's a total getaway from any type of city life, with so many amenities to enjoy, and only minutes and a short water taxi ride to town if you so desire!!

Cons: We enjoyed, the pools, the nearby golf and just the general comfort, the food was also very good and the water taxi to town!

Pros: Our second time visiting Grand Bay Hotel, although it appears Wyndham owns it now, the sign still says Grand Bay. The staff and the architecture are the best things about the hotel. The pools are cool, which is welcome in January/early February when we visited. I agree that they are likely somewhat understaffed as it can take time to get a beverage around the pool. Most of the really good restaurants over in Barra are the same, though, very leisurely service wth very good food. They strive to please at the hotel. Water taxi service to Barra and the Marina at Isla de Navidad runs constantly and is always a pleasant little adventure.

Cons: It doesn't bother me, but this is not like other coastal communities with a nice beach, the alternatives to use kayaks, jet skis and other water toys makes up for it. We took jet skis to Melaque on a previous trip.

Pros: Older, charming. Excellent people working there. Very proud and informative. Could easily become an all around 5 star resort. Would like to return...

Cons: Beds are very hard. Many areas in need of maintenance or repairs. The undesirable things I've seen, in my opinion, are due to understaffing.

Pros: The buffet breakfast, facilities, rooms, location were all very nice

Cons: The only drawback was the ocean (lagoon) was not clean. If you enjoy swimming in the ocean, I wouldn't recommend the hotels in the center of Barra either as the beaches slope steeply.

Pros: Great pool. Rooms are fairly small and double beds as well but they are clean. Pool is large and a great place to hang around. Barra doesn't have a nice beach but nearby (10 mins drive) the back of Cuestacomate is very nice. With gentle waves. Rustirant the Manglitos II by the Malecon has excellent food and great prices. Best mariscada we had in 14 days.

Pros: Spotlessly clean, meticulously maintained tasteful older hotel. Gorgeous, lush plants everywhere. Pretty Mexican tile and wood work. Unobstructed ocean view, yard not fenced in with bars like many other properties. Clean pool.

Cons: Mattresses are hard. Not enough shade. Just a few lounges, and no umbrellas over them or at the beach. Groups of families were allowed to use their own speakers, so there was competing loud music. Try to go during low season, then it's wonderful. When it's full, it gets quite lively, with large family groups. Just two umbrellas and 10 lounges are not enough for a hotel of about 30 rooms!

Pros: The location was great. Very attractive hotel. Loved the sitting area on the second level overlooking the pool, ocean, and sunset! I was impressed by the amount of upkeep that was ongoing. Nice, quiet air conditioner. The price was wonderful. Liked that water bottles were not offered, but we could refill our existing water bottles at the dispenser in the lobby. I know that wash clothes are not normally provided, but one was found for my friend.

Cons: I would have liked to have a couple of water glasses in the room.

Pros: We just love everything (except the mattresses)! The landscaping is stunning, so varied and lush. Hotel is very well maintained, lovingly decorated, colorful, in a traditional, cozy style. Love the unimpeded view over the bay - no ugly burglar bars or green glass like in many other places in Melaque. Good showers inside and out. The kitchen in the suite was well-equipped, large fridge. The suite was more spacious than the rooms all around. And need I say the beach is gorgeous?! It was our third time - home away from home!

Cons: Mattresses are hard. Poolside, could use some more umbrellas over the loungers. Some construction - as can be expected, right before peak season.

Pros: The a/c keeps the room cool which is nice on the hot days. The pool is great and you get a nice view to the ocean

Cons: The beds and the pillows were too hard and uncomfortable for me and if you get a room on the second floor be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. If you're a coffee lover you're going to be disappointed with the coffee from your room

Pros: This is a great location, right on the beach and in the heart of town. My room was beautiful and large and included a refrigerator and a small safe. The hotel is beautifully decorated with tropical plants and Talavera pottery.

Cons: They’re still doing some renovation work so at times it was noisy, but never too early or late.

Pros: Location was off beaten path without amenities such as basic coffee in the morning. No restaurants close by. Luckily, taxis are cheap in Manzanillo. The pool was horribly dirty with green algea growing on the bottom. No swimming!! No bueno!

Pros: The staff were really friendly. We speak very little spanish and they were very patient with us. It was fun trying to converse with them

Pros: The owner and staff were very nice and professional. Polite and quick to help. The food was tasty and good and you got what you ordered, not some menu item that had been ‘experimented with’, or ‘deconstructed’. We had a one bedroom apartment on the second floor. Although the furniture was a bit dated, the bed was very comfortable and the sheets were crisp and clean. We had everything we needed in the two full bathrooms and the housekeepers were pleasant and efficient. The hotel was at 100% capacity, due to the Father’s Day weekend, however, it did not interfere with our enjoyment. Tropical Storm Dolores arrived during our stay and the hotel was well prepared and mindful of safety issues. If you want to be in the centre of Barra de Navidad and are looking for a no-frills property with great service, value and cleanliness, this is for you. We would definitely stay again.

Cons: There's no fridge on the room, but it's ok since there is a common area with fridge and kitchen. But what I really didn't like it is not about the hotel perse, the beach near there because the waves are really calm the place is very crowded the vacationing season, but the worst is that because of that there is a lot of littering on the beach, you need to go downtown to find a better beach spot.

Cons: The price had just about doubled from the week before due to up coming Easter holiday. They had a breakfast on our previous stay and did not offer breakfast on this stay.

Cons: there were two very large cockroaches in our room, one jumped out from under a towel and ran up my arm. We were able to squash both roaches. When I informed the front desk and asked that they spray, they did so right away. The room was very expensive, but I do realize it was close to Easter holiday, how ever the hotel was empty with only one other guest.

Pros: Over ocean view from the back porches was beautiful, Monday through Thursday, there are not a whole lot of guests, on the week-end it can easily fill up, especially if it is a long holiday week-end. (Mexican Holidays)

Cons: On the week-ends the pool area can be loud until late at night, if you have a ground floor room by the pool, this could be bothersome. This will usually occur on holiday week-ends. (Mexican Holidays)

Pros: The location is the best and the rooms are brightly painted and clean. Very comfortable, firm beds and nice clean marble-tiled bathroom.

Cons: There is no restaurant on the property currently, but numerous ones just outside. And security and cleanliness of the pool area is lax. The easy-access toilets are favored by the beach vendors, who would regularly occupy them. No staff is present at the pool area that I can see.

Cons: It’s not in website that the suits are across the street from the beach. The picture makes it look like your right on the beach and right next to the pool. You can’t swim in the pool because of temperature of the water. We had to tell that there was no toilet seat.

Pros: The hosts are outstanding! Went above and beyond to arrange transport for us, ensured we knew best things to do in Barra, and overall super welcoming. Pool is clean, view to the lagoon is great, surroundings are tranquil. Close enough to everything without the high traffic. Room is beach town basic and clean. No issues with hot water, there was plenty for morning and post-beach showers. Will stay here next time without a doubt.

Cons: Not huge problems, but worth noting: TV had no remote (didn't ask for one because didn't care to watch), fan doesn't get the room especially cool, bed linens are like outdoor tablecloths.

Pros: Hotel was throwing a party that went on until 2:30AM. One could not sleep as a result of how loud it was. I complained at the front desk multiple times to no avail. That destroyed what would have been a nice stay. Prime location by the beach but the blatant disregard of the hotel on the guests being able to sleep ruined everything. Will never come back. Also terrible parking.

Cons: It was obviously once upon a time a wonderful hotel but has not been kept up or updated. The pool didn’t look clean. No lounge chairs. Was just a place to sleep. Needs cleaning & updating badly. It’s unfortunate because it has great bones and a great location but it is not cared for.

Pros: The location is good if you want to visit friends in Club Santiago or if you want to be close to the beautiful Boquita beach. The Ristorante Portofino, located on the premises but a separate business, serves excellent food.

Cons: We should have taken all the negative reviews seriously and stayed away. Since I don't like being too negative, I will simply say that there are no redeeming factors here other than that this hotel is the only one in or near Club Santiago, if that is where you want to be. It feels like an abandoned carcass of a place and is impossible to keep clean. There is construction going on but it is truly beyond any hope of restoration!

Pros: The staff was very nice, polite, helpful. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. The food at the restaurant was very good very convenient to have that at the hotel for when its needed.

Cons: The only issue was one of the rooms that I was given I did not like the location, it was noise and a bit dark going to the room. There was also a smell i could not figure out were it was coming from. The place can use a little updating.

Cons: Rundown facilities. Sanitarian installations obsolete! Leaking water both from toilet and through shower door. Nowhere to hang a wet towel! And the maid left the clean towels right on the toilet seat with the lit open! With my ten years in Mexico, I've never seen that before. Scrambling furniture from other rooms as well as very noisy when toilets from other rooms were flushed. Broken mosquito net. In all not worth the price.

Cons: When I booked I thought I had booked a nice room, they showed me 3 or 4 before they showed me the room I thought I had booked, it had flooded from the air conditioner. They wiped the water away, it was a large puddle that went from one corner of the room to the other. We left the room to walk around and the room had flooded again. We ended up in a sub-standard room, 3 beds instead of the queen in the other room. It was so dirty we couldn’t sleep between the sheets we slept with our clothes in and then booked out the next morning by 8:00 am! I would never recommend this place!

Cons: Towels were hard to get. I asked 3 times, the staff acted like I was joking. I had to get angry before we got towels. I asked for coffee and was told to bring my own. I asked where I could get coffee, the clerk shrugged and waved her arm towards the door. I speak Spanish, my wife and our friends are Mexican so no language problems. These people are just complacent. We have stayed at better properties for a much better price.

Pros: I was a good location to go with children. The food was good, really liked the ceviche served during lunch time. I liked that they had pools with different depths to meet everyone’s needs.

Cons: First the hotel charged us extra when they were not supposed to and on top of that the front desk lady named Laura treated me very poorly. Then the room that was assigned to me was not cleaned, the room smelled terrible, and the toilet was leaking that caused water to reach the room. Which we had to clean up and they only supplied the towels that we used to clean up. They also overcharge people.
