Staff was amazing, decor was cute, location was ideal. Breakfast was good, fellow travellers were quiet.
Bed was pretty uncomfortable, sunk quite a bit. Pillows are nice and fluffy but only work for back sleepers, definitely not supportive of the neck when side sleeping.
Best value downtown SLO
Close to center of downtown & Thursday night farmers market. Within walking distance of train station. Friendly, helpful staff, good-sized rooms.
Personal preference is for less antique ambience, more drawers, bigger closet space and shower only (vs tub/shower combos).
Great Location, Great Staff
Location: right downtown, steps away from restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, bars, and the Farmer's Market. Convenient parking in city garage a block away. Very accommodating staff eager to meet dietary (gluten free) needs and to recommend local restaurants and sites to see. Breakfast cooked to order with fresh fruit was a real treat. Large rooms with private baths. Property is going dog free which will be a treat for guests with allergies. Location was amazingly quiet considering how many bars a just a block or two away.
Property is showing its age a bit. Carpets on grand staircase leading up to second level need to be replaced; table runner on stand in hallway had hole in it; sinks in the old wash stands are funky and nice but not terribly functional and should be upgraded. AC unit had a hard time keeping room cool during 90+ days. Rooms overlooking Garden Street can be noisy early morning as street sweepers and garbage trucks make their rounds.
Located in Downtown, this bed & breakfast is 0.2 mi (0.3 km) from Bubblegum Alley and within 3 miles (5 km) of California Polytechnic State University and Morro Bay State Park. Emerson Park and Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa are also within 5 minutes. San Luis Obispo Station is 12 minutes by foot.
