Location of nice, just north of Downtown Taos
Rooms and Facilities were really run down. My room wasn't ready so I waited outside. The guy who prepped my room asked me "hey do I need to fold your towels and Sh*t"? Only had decretive pillows on the bed, so I covered a clean towel over the pillow to sleep on. After over hearing other guest at the hotel, rooms not being ready or clean where a common thing there.
This is a great place to stay over night or two if you have some business in Taos and don't want to spend extra on unnecessary luxury or comfort. Kachina beats a lot Airbnb prices, however conveniently located in downtown Taos right by the main road, which goes trough the town. Along with your room you will get 50% discount coupon for breakfast at the lodge coffee shop. Don't expect any exceptional food there either but considering that everything on the menu within $10 price, plus your 50% you get a good deal and decent treat for your stomach.
The place hasn't changed much and is nice but need to be up dated!
One of the few places that doesn't have in room coffee. Really no excuse for being so cheap
Not a bad spot!
Good location, pretty good value
Served its purpose.
It was quiet. The cleaning crew didn't come bothering in the morning like a lot of other hotels. Beds were comfortable.
The tub could've been cleaner. The door had a gap at the bottom that was concerning. The new employee was a bit abrupt. Requested an early check in and asked supervisor if I should be charged for early checkin. Thankfully she clarified there was no charge
ok for price
microwave / refrig avail on request decent heating system temps went below zero room was still comfy, hottub avail, being on north side of taos decent access to taos ski valley without long drive thru town free coffee in lobby
didn't get maid service 2 of 4 days , internet ok for email / fb but couldn't stream, assigned to adjoining room noise from adjoining room. inroom book and reservation said free breakfast they provided a coupon for 50% off a $9 breakfast asked for free breakfast they promised with my paid in full reservation they refused
High value for money. Excellent location few blocks north of plaza. Helpful front desk .
Trash not emptied daily on my most recent stay.
The linens were fresh and the room clean
A dated hotel, but it was suitable for a quick overnight stay. Convenient walk to the center of town.
When I checked in a guest was complaining to the front desk that she wanted her money back because of bed bugs. At the same time there was a loud argument in the lobby between two staff and a manager that they were quitting because they couldnt work there for free. Later I found out several housekeeping maids had quit the previous day due to concerns about not being paid. The room itself was outdated and not very clean. Housekeeping did not even show up on two days...another day they only made the bed...I think the bethroom was only cleaned one day. The room was never vacuumed. The water pressure was poor and the hot water was only luke warm most of the time. I was there for 5 nights for a class.
You get what you pay for
The value, location, and most of the staff.
The rooms are outdated and pretty dirty. Wifi didn't work the whole time on any device. On the 3rd day we finally got our room cleaned and towels refreshed. One lady staff member that works in the evening was fairly unpleasant.
Hot breakfast, clean room, comfortable bed
Room heat was not controllable and staff was indifferent to request to lower heat. No light bulb outside door - outside entrance. Three requests to replace missing light bulbs were ignored.
"Located near the slopes, this Taos hotel is in the city centre, within a 10-minute walk of Kit Carson Park and Taos Plaza, and close to winter sports, such as cross-country skiing and skiing lessons. Carson National Forest and Rio Grande Gorge Bridge are also within 12 mi (20 km). "
