Decent hotel
Nothing really stood out as amazing or as terrible, it was just, a hotel. You got a comfortable enough bed, A/C, shower facilities, Breakfast in the morning. For the price paid you can’t argue with what you get. It was an all round “Good” Hotel. I’d stay there again.
No Tea/Coffee in the rooms.
The staff were incredibly friendly, the room cleaned every day despite the sand and mess we made from the beach, and every service the hotel had promised to provide was provided. At the end of our stay they even made place in the lobby for our many bags, so that we could continue exploring Alicante despite having to check out earlier. A great hotel for its price.
Nobody spoke English there (but we had a native Spanish speaker with us) Cold water on the last 2 days (but they were renovating and it was very hot weather!!)
The location was perfect. The service was also fine. People try to do their best.
It was very noisy in the night because there is a bar nearby and the local people are celebrating the whole night, all the nights :)
Modest room in the city centre, 24h convenience stores nearby.
The receptionist had us sign some lengthy data security agreement written in Spanish “for our own good”. He was yelling at us for two minutes, aggressively urging me to sign, while we were trying to read through the fine print first. Eventually, I signed with “I don’t speak Spanish,” which he apparently didn’t notice. He calmed down immediately and was quite friendly for the rest of our stay.
I was quite impressed with the accommodation. The room was spotless and fresh clean bedding and towels were provided and replaced daily. The reception area and the restaurant (which I used regularly) were light and airy and the hostel had a very positive overall feel. I feel it should be ranked a 3* hotel, rather than a hostel! It was excellent value for money - both the accommodation and the restaurant, and it's well located, with lots of small bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. Tip: catch the airport bus (€2.60) and get off at Plaza Luceros, which is a 5-min walk to hostel (head for Mercado Central) as the street the hostel is on is just behind it. Airport bus took 20mins and, on the way back, just 11mins! (during the morning rush hour!)
It could get a little noisy at night and, although I hesitate to say it, the reception staff weren't the friendliest, although they warmed up a little - maybe that's because I stayed 4 nights and they got used to me!
Excellent location, within walking distance to the RENFE station, to the beach/marina etc. Abundance of shops and cafes nearby. The cafeteria downstairs offers good food at reasonable prices.
The room smells of smoke although it is supposed to be a non-smoking room. But it's a very common problem in Spain anyway, as many guests will simply open the window and smoke in the room, hence it's not the hotel's fault.
The staff were helpful and the location central. There is a cafe as part of the hotel which also serves food. The bus stop for the airport is 50 yards or so from the hostal.
Given the price, 25 euro, I can't have much to complain about and harboured no illusions of palm trees, pools and gyms. Soundproofing isn't the best so you do get to share the joys and traumas of neighbours arrivals/departures etc. If you are looking for scenic views and a bit of pampering I would advise going somewhat more upmarket.
