Admittedly, I haven't rented a car in a long time. The new, apparently across-the-industry policy of not using a debit card unless the reservation is made 24 hours in advance was a surprise. The manager at the location I attempted to rent from could have been way more helpful and understanding. I didn't cuss anyone out that day, but it wasn't because he didn't deserve it. Of course, I never got the rental. Thanks for nothing, Hertz.

I reserved at a close by airport and not airport and it was quickly resolved. We needed a car because we didn't board a cruise ship for the Bahamas during a hurricane on 8/17. We needed to drive back to Cleveland. The Enterprise reservation error was mine. On arriving at BWL at the car rental center Rylee at the enterprise counter easily corrected the information and made the checkin super easy and friendly. Soon we were on our way. Then the return of the car at CLE was just as seamless.. No question that our interaction with Rylee at BWL will impact my car rental selection every trip in the future and go with Enterprise. Great effort and great skill Rylee. Many thanks, M. Meyer

I was unaware that the rental car place would be closed for the return.

Cons:

I believe the cleanliness of the vehicle was not up to par and that time needs to be taken to shampoo the interior. The seats were stained and the carpet could have been vacuumed. It did not feel at all comfortable. I believe the outside only was washed and that was it.

The supplier choice is apparently an EV even though I didn’t select the EV option. They require you to bring the car back charged. For a one day rental to the airport, that is not realistic. I was also charged for gas, which I had stopped near the airport and filled up. I eventually got a credit but the whole thing was a hassle and didn’t leave me feeling good about renting from Budget in the future.

Pick up process was ridiculous. I'm not exaggerating--standing outside (not in any type of building or cover) for 56 minutes while they tried to figure out rentals for myself and 7 other customers. Ended up just giving me a size up, was not cleaned well, didn't have record of what fuel level was at, and staff spoke all of 3 words to me. I saw the poor reviews at this location and figured, how bad can it be? Yes I got my vehicle and it worked fine, but the entire pick up and drop off experience was horrible and I do not plan to rent from this brand at this airport again.

Pros:

Friendly staff - no line, immediate service. Everything was explained and thorough. Saved a bunch of money vs. renting at BWI as we didn't have the airport-related fees, and the rate itself was much cheaper. Even with a few Ubers back and forth to make it happened, we probably saved $300 for a 12-day rental.

Cons:

Facility isn't the nicest in the world, but it serves the purpose.

The staff member who helped me was great - very professional and helpful.

Cons:

The office was dirty and needed a lot of maintenance. The staff member who was helping me was wonderful but the rest of the staff were being loud and goofing off - making it difficult to hear and very distracting.

Absolutely terrible experience and will never use Turo. Apparently the car we had arranged months before was smashed two weeks before we we due to pick it up. Trouble is, no one told us until we were on the Eurostar on the way to get it. They had had our money for ages. Seems like the owner, Luke, was trying to get Turo to make up the difference and hire us his more expensive alternative (a Porsche, which I wouldn’t want anyway). Turo “help” line was totally unhelpful. Couldn’t end the deal; couldn’t refund without us getting on to another department (hard on a foreign phone). They can’t call you…. So it was impossible to organise an alternative. If there is a problem with a car hire company, they just replace it. Turo was more expensive and unable to fix a problem. Never again.
