Overview

Burnet sits in the Highland Lakes country of the Texas Hill Country northwest of Austin, a town of granite hills, spring bluebonnets, and a chain of clear lakes along the Colorado River. The Best Western Post Oak Inn makes a comfortable base in Burnet, Texas, close to Inks Lake, the Longhorn Cavern, the wildflower drives, and the lakes and rivers of the Hill Country. Out at Inks Lake and the Highland Lakes, boating, swimming, and the spring bluebonnets draw visitors, with the hotel an easy Hill Country base. The rooms hold a flat-screen TV, microwave, and refrigerator, a free breakfast opens in the morning, and the pool waits out back. Inks Lake State Park, just west of Burnet, draws swimmers and paddlers to its clear water and pink-granite shores. Lakes and granite hills, the cavern, and the wildflower drives all sit close by. Settle in and let the Hill Country set the pace.
