Pushy employee at pick up, insisting on adding extras with scaring tactics. The car was inspected independently but they never shared a list of preexisting damages. When we asked for a joined review of the car’s condition, the response was that this was not possible. We were given an “upgrade” since the car we had booked was not on location. Apart from the service at pickup, the car provided was fine and the checkout was smooth.

Sixt sent us a damage report for small scratches that we did not cause after mis-representing their policy. We paid for the Loss Damage Waiver they advertised as covering up to EUR 1200 in damages. In fact, this policy covers only beyond this but to an unspecified amount. They have been entirely uncooperative as I have explained that we were misled by their counter agent and would not have purchased their insurance knowing the true policy. Note that the car rented came with a generous amount of scratches on it already. I will never rent from Sixt again, and neither should you.

Pick up and drop off was a horrible experience. Booked my rental out of the train station. I didn’t realize it wasn’t always staffed and so when the city bus was delayed getting me there I arrived and no one was available as they only waited at the office for 30 minutes. Again, it was unclear that the timeline was so strict as they had not communicated that. After multiple calls to customer service, being told I would be called back by a local agent, calling back again multiple times I was told I would have to go to the airport. Another bus ride and a prolonged lineup and I was eventually offered a car. They were pushy to accept their insurance even though I had already bought supplemental and had it through my credit card. Two days later I find I was charged an airport premium of 35 euros, a third of the cost of my total rental. At drop off I ran into other extremely unhappy customers and we were told that “You shouldn’t book through a third party” Hard when the cost is often half. Super disappointed and won’t likely choose enterprise first in the future.
