Booking car rentals in Redmond is a convenient way to be able to travel throughout the city and visit different neighborhoods. While the town does have some public transportation, like public bus lines, Redmond car rentals still remain the quickest and most comfortable way to get to your destination. By having your very own rental car, you can easily go to places that are a bit far from the city center, such as the Redmond Caves, which are around a 15min drive from downtown. There is also the Dry Canyon Trail, which can be reached by car in around 10min.
Situated in the high desert on the east side of the Cascade Range in Oregon, Redmond is subject to inclement weather, especially November through March. In the winter, cheap car rentals in Redmond should provide an ice scraper and snow brush in the car so that you can clear your windshield. However, be cautious and double-check to make sure these items are present, because it is dangerous to drive in winter weather without them. Also, since it usually rains almost every month of the year in Redmond, except in August, make sure that your windshield wiper blades are in good working condition and your wiper fluid is topped up.
Travelers can always choose to pick up their car rentals in Redmond from Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM). Redmond Municipal Airport has a car rental center that is in the Arrivals terminal of the main building, just a short walk from where baggage claim is located. There are over five different rental companies that have desks in the center, including choices such as Alamo, Budget, Enterprise, and Hertz.
Cheap car rentals in Redmond will give you the convenience and freedom of exploring the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest, since Redmond is, quite literally, surrounded by national forests. Redmond car rentals can get you to Mount Hood National Forest in about 1 hour and 50 minutes, to Ochoco National Forest in about 2 hours and 10 minutes, and to Willamette National Forest in about 1 hour and 27 minutes, to name a few. If you prefer exploring cities, Eugene is just over the Cascades to the west and the city of John Day with its rich history is to the east. South of Redmond is the city of Bend, where Interstate 20 and Interstate 97 intersect.
When driving car rentals in Redmond, it’s always important to brush up on local driving laws and tips in order to make sure that you are safely operating your vehicle. For example, the state of Oregon has a very strict blood alcohol maximum of 0.08%, so make sure to abide by this if you will be drinking alcohol. Drivers and passengers are legally required to wear their seatbelts at all times while in a moving vehicle.
If you are looking into cheap car rentals in Redmond, keep in mind that Oregon has strict laws pertaining to distracted driving. While you are driving, you cannot use your phone to text or send emails, even when you are stopped at a red light. Also, use of all handheld communication devices is prohibited. Furthermore, most cities in Oregon do not allow drivers to wear earbuds or AirPods while driving. If you are stopped for one of these violations while you are driving your Redmond car rental, you can receive a fine from between $260 and $1,000 and get points put onto your driving record.
To avoid getting caught in any congestion on the roads, you will want to try not to drive during rush hour, which is usually between the hours of 6:00 and 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. A few roads that are known for being particularly congested during rush hour are Highways 97 and 126. During the winter months, this region usually has snow and rain, so make sure to be extra cautious if you are driving in these types of weather.

AA plus service. Enterprise was efficient, polite, reasonable, good value, and provided an excellent 15 passenger van. I will rent from them again!

Passenger van
The staff at Enterprise was great… personable and efficient! The phone calls to confirm reservation and information about rental was additional, positive, customer service. I wasn’t too happy about the cost of renting, but I know my options were limited and renting a large vehicle was necessary ( my only option ). I would hope Enterprise might send a coupon voucher to use for future rental reservation.

Pros:
Drop off super easy because it’s such a small airport
Cons:
First, it was MY mistake by reserving a car at the OFF AIRPOT enterprise. The ON AIRPORT enterprise clerk was no help at all. Wouldnt call the offsite spot for us, wouldnt help us get a ride (Redmond has no shuttles) to the offsite location, looked at his cell phone while we talked to him instead of looking at us (and didnt even pretend) to care. Crummy attitude. If I were his boss I’d fire him.
They upgraded me to a Jeep Cherokee! Very friendly staff, super efficient in getting the rental car, will use again
Cons:
Outside of Jeep was slightly dirty.

The price for National was by far the best deal if picking up the rental at the airport. We considered an offsite rental for about $100 less but decided that we didn't want to bother with an Uber/Lyft to get to/from the airport. There was a little wait at the airport counter to pick up the car because of limited staffing and Alamo/National being serviced out of the Enterprise counter. We had a sporty KIA vehicle that was clean and nice. Drop off was a breeze. Would rent from National again!
Coke bottle with coke inside in the back seat floor. Bad battery and incorrect diagnosis from the emergency service. They said key was not detected because of the remote battery. I had to call AAA to jumpstart. They said only 4v and needed new battery.

The car had trash, old coke bottle in the back seat. The emergency service told me the remote battery was bad when it said key not detected. And to go get it replaced. But then the car would start and had to call AAA and they said only 4v on the battery and needed a new one. They jumped started it and I had to take it back and couldnt fill up the gas because if I shut off the engine I would have been stuck again. But they did give me another vehicle so that was good. But I wish they had checked out the first car better.

Pros:
The staff was helpful and friendly. The car was clean (minus a little earthy smell, but I put a lavender car refresher in it and it soon went away.) the price was wonderful, and the ease of service was great!

Pros:
The low price.
Cons:
The agent was not at the desk when I got there. A neighboring car agent had to text her to call her back to the airport. Waited 20 minutes to get service. Then, I went out to my car and found it was a tiny economy car (Ford Fiesta) when I ordered a compact car (“Ford Focus or similar). When I went back to desk to change cars it was now 6:03pm, and she was gone with everything locked up and closed. Had she been there when I arrived for my reservation there would have been time to deal with it. Instead I was forced to drive that tin can car for an 11 hour trip, and felt unsafe. The car had horrible seat stains and generally not clean. So basically everything could have been better about the experience except the price.

Some Redmond car providers already include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection Waiver into the hire price but not all of them. We recommend being aware of your coverage when hiring a car in Redmond.
Keep in mind that car hire insurances often have a deductible clause, which is the amount you’ll have to pay if something happens during the time of your hire. If you want to avoid unwanted surprises, you should consider adding a non-deductible option to your Redmond car hire.
