Pros: This is the most beautiful property I have ever stayed at in any location in the world. The gardens were beautiful and so many different plants! The hot springs were nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful every encounter. The breakfast was awesome and we ate lunch at the bar every day. Even with our kids, it was very quiet and relaxing. The farm was a hit with the kids, they rode horses and helped gather eggs.
Cons: Nothing, it was above expectations!

Guests can enjoy a cocktail at the Laguna Swim-up Bar, rush down the famous Monkey Slide at Perdidos Springs, or relax in the natural hot springs riverside at the Club Rio Outdoor Center, the on-site Adventure Center and Wildlife Sanctuary.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a swanky American style resort hotel. The hot springs are fantastic and great fun. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The night walk, led by Jonathan, was a real highlight of our stay and we saw red eyed tree frogs, marine toads, Mexican tree frogs, iguanas and more.
Cons: For such a high end hotel the food was very average and over priced for what it was. Most of the staff were excellent, but a couple of the bar staff had clearly not been to the charm school and insisted on trying to sell us exorbitantly expensive drinks we had not asked for and did not want. Also, there was a mix up getting the bags from the room which meant we were sitting for an hour in reception waiting for the bags, while various staff blamed each other for failure in communication.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Updated
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was also great.
Cons: The food was really expensive and bland. Needs significant improvement

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is stunning and has incredible views. Definitely felt very exclusive. We had a huge balcony with jacuzzi tub overlooking the volcano. The whole feel of the room and the resort is very rustic and lush. There are springs of all temperatures, sure to please everyone. The staff is very friendly and very helpful which greatly adds to the exclusiveness of the hotel. Even the drive up to the hotel is very scenic. A lot of activities available for kids and for adults. Very relaxing place.
Cons: The food could have been better. My partner and I felt it to have been mediocre even though the service was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was nice
Cons: Loved everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel has it all. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. There’s more swimming pools / hot springs than you can count. There are numerous restaurants on site. The views on a clear day are second to none. The hotel also offers a wide range of activities.
Cons: The only thing I’d change is the weather. As we have come during rainy season the weather can vary a lot and change quickly. Nothing can be done about that.

Pros: Our villa was in the middle of the rain forest. Enjoyed siting in the terrace and listening to the sound of the river and watching arenal volcano. What a peaceful and relaxing experience. We woke up every morning to the sound of birds and monkeys. Delicious breakfast. Great service. Very good location. Everything was just perfect.
Cons: Imposible to think about anything negative.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So MANY Things. First off, Wine Lovers worried about finding quality wine in Costa Rica, fear not! There is a wine bar on site, with a great selection of wines (also the restaurants on site have a good selection as well). Second, the staff here is incredible. There are not enough kind words to say about how great they are. The cocktail selection is great, and the breakfast at Nayara Springs (connected to Arenal Nayara, effectively if you stay on one side of the property, you have free range access of both sides of the property), is AMAZING, and you get free mimosas, and have an unlimited choice of what and how much you want to eat for breakfast (for free!). The pools are lovely, there are stations with umbrellas, bug spray, and sunscreen around the property. The hotel left us a dinner in our room because we arrived after all of the restaurants closed. It was the perfect hotel experience in the rainforest. Could not have asked for a better, more restful trip.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ala cart all you can eat breakfast. Golf cart service
Cons: Food and beverages were over priced The villa was over priced
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing experience! The hotel was breathtaking and the staff went above and beyond to always make sure we were happy!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel and most of all the staff. Every one went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy the entire time. The food was EXCELLENT, we had fresh towels in our room twice a day, the front staff addressed me by first name from the second we pulled up, and the private tours are absolutely worth the extra cost (request seyres!!!!) Every area of this hotel looked beautiful, lush and impeccably clean.
Cons: The lighting in the bathroom was dark, and the pool on the family side left much to be desired, but we spent most of our time out in the rainforest anyway.

Pros: Rooms, facilities
Cons: Price of breakfast
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Had a wonderful stay. Great location to explore the rain forest of Costa Rica. Had a wonderful room with beautiful views. Fabulous bathroom with huge Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Great to come back to the resort after hiking, zip-lining and ATV-ing and relax at the hot springs. Will definitely return.
Cons: Breakfast was very expensive. Buffet was $25++. The bill was $125.00 for our family of 4. We shopped in town and had breakfast in the room. Was still enjoyable. There was a fridge, coffee. Would be nice to have options for breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms, food, Staff, everything
Cons: The valet gave my car to another guest!!, Do not know who this happens, luckily I new the guest. I was never told the reason why this happen or apologies too about this situation. They just sweep it under the rug!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful, the staff is excellent, the hot springs and shangrila are unbelievable. The water is so amazing in its natural setting. The water is very healing
Cons: I liked everything!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you've never experienced the rainforest, then I would highly advise booking a few nights at this resort. Honestly, the pictures on the website and social media do not capture the magic of this place. Once you arrive you'll be impressed by the staff and the hotel's attention to detail and their willingness to cater to every guest and their needs. This place is a true oasis in the middle of Costa Rica that everyone should experience at least one time in their lives. I highly recommend booking the Tabacon Resort and Spa for a luxurious and restful vacation.
Cons: No complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yes
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Incredible hot springs and thievery member of staff went above and beyond to help us out
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly , and beautiful
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A great experience, and a amazing place.
Cons: Dinner, food and drinks are very expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is in an idyllic location. The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained. The rooms are modern and luxurious. It was so easy to book an excursion, a spa visit, or order room service with the in-room tablets. The pool at the hotel was gorgeous, and the breakfast was amazing! Omelet station, fresh coffee, all types of bread, meat, fruit and yogurt. Excellent!!
Cons: Be prepared to spend a LOT of money! The dinner buffet is $40 per person. Although the food was delicious, it got a little pricey for a family of 6. Go into La Fortuna for some more affordable options.
7.9 Good
Pros: The hot springs area is not inside the hotel, its across the street and they take you with a shuttle. We didnt like that there were a l o t of people that bought day pass and they are not part of the hotel so all the springs area is veryyyyy crowded. You dont have any "speaciallty" by being a gust of the hotel, the "privte" area is very poor and almost doesnt have spring points there. Also, every thing is so overpriced - the lunch at the speings section (dont take the buffet!!!!!!), the drinks, the restaraunt (although is was good) and the massages prices.
Cons: Over all The hotel itself is great, execellnt breakfest, perfect service, very comfortable room and bed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: everything looks so natural, it felt like paradise! the spa is amazing, quite expensive through... stuff is really friendly and roomservice super quick. for the first night they will bring you a “pillow refresher” which really smells good and helps you sleep. The whole hot spring area is huge, so you will always find a quiet place, latest at the shangrila part which is for hotel members only.
Cons: The hotsprings are open until 10pm which is super! but there are almost no light so it is pretty dangerous. there are also NO lifeguards and many children are playing on their own without someone looking after them. drinks are also expensive especially for the hotel guest who already pay a lot of money they could have at least add a “free water station” or something like that.

Pros: Comfortable and luxury rooms, great volcano views.
Cons: Food at rhe bar a little pricey
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location The staff - in particular Luis Angel, Jason, Evera, apologise that I couldn’t name everyone but top marks to all the staff and personnel in the kitchen, service staff etc Also Danny on concierge/welcoming
Cons: Nothing everything 100%
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything from the check in experience, to the breakfast buffet, to the centralized location, and the incredibly friendly staff, was all beyond our expectations. The Royal Corin is a great spot to relax after a days of activities. And the spa! Amazing!!
Cons: There were a few items on the dinner menu that were not available any of the nights we were there. But everything we ate was delicious!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything is very nice, clean, comfortable. Very nice breakfest, and the hot springs pools area in the evening is very fun!
Cons: The stuff in the reception is over nice, sometimes you want to ask a simple question and you get so much talking that you forgot what you wanted to ask. It was annoying at some point.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where do I begin? The staff were amazing. Always so friendly and patient and helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazing. So many options and they changed it every morning. The pools were wonderful. That main pool was hot and crystal clean. The spa services. Unbelievable. We went three days in a row! Spotless and check-in and checkout were a breeze. We will be back!
Cons: I didn't like how the owner talked to her staff. If she were in Canada, she'd be reported to the Human Rights Tribunal. If she yelled at staff in front of hotel guests, I'd hate to know how she talked to them behind closed doors. Also, they need a place to store luggage in the rooms, more hooks in the room to hang up wet towels and bath robes. Room service should go later than 10pm, and I would have liked to have a table to easy eat at in the room. And the pools should open earlier than 8am.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff, lovely premises, delicious food, overall i loved my stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were extremely clean and in good order when we arrived. breakfast buffet service and food was exceptional, The staff was very cordial and friendly throughout our stay. Whenever we needed something they were there to assist and make it happen. The views from our room were outstanding and the pool area was a real treat. Thanks so much for a wonderful time and memories. We will be back!.
Cons: Everything was excellent!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very customer-centric, convenient to fun activities, interesting tours, and good restaurants
Cons: Breakfast and coffee not available until 6:30. Activities have early start times so breakfast at least by 6 would be better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: SPA with external swimmingpools, kindness of the staff, position, rooms.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Pretty much everything. Restaurant and tours might be a little pricey but that’s the norm in this kind of hotels in Costa Rica I guess. Excellent service. Nice pool area with bar in the real hot thermal pool.
Cons: I can’t find anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. The staff is really friendly and efficient. Excellent breakfast. Incredible thermal pools with volcano views. Pool bar is reasonably priced and serves good food.
Cons: The only complaint would be that they could not accommodate us an hour before check in time although the hotel was almost empty.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Facilities were excellent, service was prompt and the local white water rafting a highlight of our Holiday. Highly recommended.
Cons: As three families traveling together the ONLY negative of our stay was the two hour long delay at check-out due to a complete failing of the Hotel to charge each family for their room and associated charges on three separate credit cards (that we had provided at check-in). The result of which led to a 10 day wait for the total charge (for all three families) to be credited to my credit card (after we finally managed to split the bill and pay seperately on leaving). What should have been a simple transaction of any Hotel, delayed our onward journey by two hours and ended what should have and could have been a faultless stay.

4.6 Okay
Pros: Great swim up bar and good views of arenal volcano
Cons: Being fenced in and being issued wristbands. Drab interiors and shabby fabrics made the place feel dirty
6.7 Good
Pros: The omlette station for breakfast was very good. Staff were generally very pleasant and helpful. Gardens and hot springs were well maintained.
Cons: I had the chicken nachos at the wet bar, the food was terrible. And the staff took ages to serve me even though it was a quiet evening. For breakfast , the hot food self serve station wasn't very good. The empanadas were rubbery and very oily. Staff were hard to get hold of for coffee / water. Did not like the wrist bands we had to wear.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything: very efficient and nice staff, fantastic pools, clean and spacious rooms, super yummy breakfast, beautiful garden...
Cons: Nothing, Nada!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views, excellent facilities and great staff!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the quiet atmosphere and peaceful surroundings of the rainforest. Each Villa has 2 rooms in each building and is set apart from the other villas, so it feels very private. The rooms were very clean and have a beautiful view of Arenal Volcano, the shower walls are tiled with volcanic rock which is very lovely - there is a slight openness between the wall and roof of the shower allowing fresh air in, but that also means that a few bugs and humidity can get in - not necessarily a big deal, in fact kind of charming and a nice natural element to the ambiance, but it did take some getting used to for "city folks" from the States. :) The 3 restaurants were very nice. Had a good variety of options: Costa Rican food, Italian food, Sushi and Japanese food. The hot springs were great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The shuttles came at requests not on a cycle. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and well labeled. Great view of Arenal
Cons: Not much to dislike at all. I didn’t have time to try the spa. Next time I guess.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing and will do anything for you and the hot springs were wonderful!
Cons: The beds were hard and the food was good but not great.

Pros: Thermal water pool and morning yoga were excellent
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent / sushi restaurant was good / pizza in Italian restaurant was great/
Cons: Concierge wasn’t truthful on outings... very vague. Bed was super noisy and creaky (needs to be fixed) w

Surrounded by gardens, pastures and animals, our rooms have been designed so that each one offers you a panoramic view of the volcano. Our visitors can take advantage of ourspacious gardens for walking and meditation as well as the opportunities to see the daily operations of a typical Costa Rican farm.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The area and the food were amazing. The pool was perfect. Super quiet.
Cons: In room amenities
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the pool of hot springs overlooking the Arenal Volcano. I also liked the variety of cocktails at the pool bar.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is located perfectly, in the middle of the main attractions. We loved that basically each room was completely private, surrounded by luxurious vegetation. Everything in the room and on the property is natural, very little plastic and nothing looks cheap. The hot springs are awesome and one could relax there after a day of exploration. The property is maintained extremely well, it is spot clean, staff is extremely friendly. We got complememtary fresh fruits platter 2 days in a row. The coffee in the room is awesome. If you need something and you call front desk they will send what you need in less than 5 minutes. The restaurant is really great, fine dining in the area. Fresh food for all meals with basically everything natural. Another reviewer called this property "a hidden gen" and I completely agree. The pictures on most of the websites don't do real justice to the place.
Cons: They did not have a gym.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, nice hot springs, excellent massage. We had two cabins across from each other. They had a shuttle that would take you around the grounds. Great parking.
Cons: Everything was awesome!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was amazing, the bedroom had a lot of space, we were 4 in one bedroom. The bathroom had a lot of space as well. Love the wet bars on the pools. Staff was always good a great attitude. Breakfast is a buffet, the food was pretty good and there was a lot of variety for everyone's taste. Happy hour on the wet bar is good.
Cons: The pool with the hot springs was a little bit small.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: My junior suite had a wonderful view of the volcano and was located right across from the swim up bar, where I grab some excellent fish tacos and spent the better part of an evening. After heavy rains overnight, I spent the morning in a rocking chair with a view of the volcano, drinking coffee before walking down to get some excellent breakfast. Beds are comfy, walk-in shower was an unexpected luxury. All in all, I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth and more at this place.
Cons: I hesitate to say this, but the front desk seemed a bit off put by the fact that I booked the same day. He had to make a couple of extra calls and didn’t do a very good job communicating with me about what he was doing. Everyone has their off days I suppose, but rarely have I felt like I was inconveniencing someone at a hotel, and this was one of those times. An inauspicious start but a great experience overall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful resort. Tranquil setting. spacious room with wonderful view of Arenal volcano. Attentive staff. Very good food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for 4 nights and loved this hotel. The views of the volcano are amazing on a clear day. Breakfast was great with different choices every day. So many activities in the area. La Fortuna is a 10 minute taxi ride. The hot spring pool is a bonus. We sat on the veranda at the front of the bungalow with binoculars in hand and watched the birds and squirrels with the volcano backdrop. We had lunch by the pool which was good but didn't try the restaurant in the evening as we ate in La Fortuna. The walk from the reception to the bungalow at night is a little dark so a torch is an idea. Watch out for the crocodiles in the lake which can be seen warming up in the sun at breakfast time from the restaurant. Be warned to expect rain in the green season.
Cons: Umbrellas in the rooms would be useful in the green season.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were a group of 53 people traveling together and the staff was amazing and very friendly. We will definitely return. Thanks for all the smiles and attentiveness ... PURA VIDA!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What was not to like. The breakfast is amazing. They were kind enough to make some other items not served for buffet. The food wss typical Tico style breakfast. No complaints in food.
Cons: Pool closed slightly early at 6p. Not much besides that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfadt was excellent
Cons: Internet wifi was not good in room no which was initially allocated, report to reception , sent technician he told us he will come but didnt sppear again. Request them to change room but answer no vacant room. At last after two night manage to change room with good internet.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were clean and personnel were nice and respectful
Cons: Pools were not very clean in some areas.

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Private hot pool in superior thermal room. Many thermal pools which were not crowded. Children enjoyed outdoor gym. The gardens were beautifully kept with lots of wildlife - hummingbirds at every turn. Good view of Volcano on the 2 days out of 6 when it was visible through the clouds. Food selection was good and tasty with affordable prices.
Cons: Service in the restaurant and pool bar was awful - very slow and disorganised. No sign of a manager at the restaurant to ensure things ran smoothly. Waited an hour for food one night and 20 minutes for water to drink another night. No apologies and staff seemed indifferent when we raised concern. Staff rigidly stick to their role rather than helping each other to ensure smoother service, for example a single barman struggling to cope during happy hour at the pool bar but several waiters next door at the the restaurant and bar doing little were not called to help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was great, enjoyed the activities around the property and the nature park around the corner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great. Out of town, but close enough to everything.
Cons: The wristbands you have to wear are the property. I understand why, but maybe an upgrade to a different type.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Gardens are super nice. Good breakfast
Cons: Children were allowed in every pool area, even the one with bar. There should at least be one pool off limit. Front desk staff gave wrong info regarding bus schedules back to our home that caused major delays. Tour booked thru front desk over prices compared to tours in town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and service were great. Pools were clean; loved the one with the bar. I would come back. Massage was wonderful. Food prices were reasonable.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Honestly I can’t come up with anything that needed improvement. Fantastic!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice location with a nice view at the volcano, clean and comfortable rooms. Nice staff who will go a long way for you!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed staying here. Personnel was very friendly, and everything was very clean. Breakfast was great. The pool and the hot springs were a hit. Sipping on a Cuba Libre at the pool bar, or just enjoying the jacuzzi thinking of nothing was great. We would definitely stay here again! Perfect location.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds! Thermal experience is romantic and lovely. The hotel is close to many adventure and hiking tours. There is a nature walkway around the property too where you can see many birds.
Cons: Couldn’t see volcano form our volcano view room because of fog, but still absolutely beautiful view of the vegetation.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The personal thermal pool, restaurant onsite, and staff was very friendly.
Cons: No where to buy snacks onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is set in stunning scenery and the grounds are fantastic it has been very well thought through. Very friendly helpful staff and easy to find. They served some delicious cocktails and they were always made to perfection! I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
Cons: The only thing that let it down was That the food wasn't really that great. We had different steaks both nights and both times they were over cooked and tough. The breakfast is a buffet and again could just use a bit more attention.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The pools the private room with own thermal spa. Food!
Cons: Would have liked access to shuttle to local area. If the shuttle was available it cost more than a taxi.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent the service was excellent The view was magical we loved the property.
Cons: The bed was not very comfortable but everything else was great
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds were amazing and we loved that we had access to the National Park trails. The Jacuzzi was a nice treat after a long day of hiking. The views were breath-taking! Access to other activities was relatively easy but the roads are not great. Town was about a 30 minute drive away. Nice breakfast buffet provided free of charge!
Cons: It would be nice to have screens on the front doors as well so you could have both the patio door (which had a screen) and front door open to allow a cross-breeze. The room became a bit stuffy and buggy during the day without this. Also it would be good if t pool was heated to allow swimming year round. The prices for food at the restaurant were expensive. The Happy Hour (2 for 1) would be better if they allowed for 2 different drinks vs. 2 of the same kind of drink. Finally a shuttle to town that ran even just 3 times a day would be a great perk!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved having so many hikes/walks to do right on the property and a very good restaurant as well. It was so nice having nature and animals outside our door each day. The staff was warm, welcoming, helpful and friendly. There were plenty of activities to do on the grounds for all ages: pool, foosball/game room, checkers, books, TVs in the main buildings and a hot tub.
Cons: Be aware that the Lodge is a 20-25 minute drive from La Fortuna up a somewhat rough dirt road. If you have your own vehicle it's easy to get to and from, but without a bit more challenging. There are taxis that cost $30 each way or a shuttle 3x/day from the lodge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is set in an amazing location, with amazing trails, beautiful grounds, stunning views, lots of wildlife. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are an added bonus. The frog pond and the Nest are must visits. The food is great and there is a well stocked bar. The service is excellent with friendly and happy to help out staff.

Cons: Perhaps another restaurant to choose from.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was fantastic and the monkeys were fun to watch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The free breakfast was perfect to fuel us for our daily hikes and excursions. It usually consisted of eggs, sausage, fruit, cheese, plantains, cereals, yogurt, and different types of pastry/bread items. Coffee, juices, water, and hot tea were also available. The observation deck located right outside of the restaurant offers amazing views of the volcano and many different types of birds. We were able to observe both spider and Capuchin monkeys swinging in the trees right from our patio which faced the forest. The free morning hike to the waterfall is a must-do! A visit to the frog pond at night is incredible, though you must bring a flashlight and watch for snakes. All of the staff members are helpful and pleasant, and the souveniers are 1/2 what you'd pay for in La Fortuna,
Cons: Nothing--this was my 3rd summer in a row staying at AOL, and I continue to visit for the reasons mentioned above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Large, spacious and clean rooms - Beautiful view from room - Awesome sunset view over lake from the restaurant deck and bar - Excellent birding opportunities - Great breakfast - Lots of nature trails - Colorful frogs at the frog pond - Highly recommend for nature lovers
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They helped us organize tours and transportation. One staff member went above and beyond to make sure we were able to join our tour after a miscommunication. The grounds are beautiful! There are trails on the property that make for an amazing independent hike. I really enjoyed my stay here!
Cons: Our stay was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our guide Christian was amazing. We did 2 trips with him. The view of the volcano and the animals was amazing.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place is located a bit outside but perfect if you travel by car. There are still many restaurants in walking distance. The Pool and hot Spa is very nice. They have a nice kitchen and provide fresh eggs (from their own chicks) and coffee etc for breakfast. There are four dogs, one of them doesn't like Kids, our youngest (age 5) got bitten before they could even tell us, which was a bit annoying as we also went there because of the pool and hot spa, but we could treat the wound without further complications.

Pros: Location is great, breakfast included, place is adorable!!
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice showers. The wifi is better than most places weve been.
Cons: Room lighting was difficult to operate in. Breakfast was poor with little choice either. The roof is metal - we had big amounts of rain while there which kept us both awake as it sounded like continuous thunder. There are cockerel next door, so when the rain stops, you will be woken again. Nobody present when we arrived so we were stuck outside for some time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: David and his family were great hosts. The hotel is well maintained. The rooms are clean and the pool is serviced regularly. It's a good location, about 1 mi out of the city center, but with multiple restaurants and a super market nearby. The Red Frog Coffee shop (little yellow building next door) is a great place; try the empanada. They also offer use of a communal kitchen that has the necessary cooking tools. David can also help you book taxis, tours and transfers.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: wifi could be faster!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were very nice, friendly and helpful, the hotel is small-scale and atmospheric, and the location is fine for tours and travel. 8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, nice volcano view, exotic and romantic place! Nice and pleasant staff members.
Cons: There was a renovation/reconstruction on one of the buildings and it was making a lot of terrible noise from very early in the morning. They started at 7 am every morning Very uncomfortable pillows.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: The breakfast was decent.
Cons: The place is a dump!!! Roof is leaking, the hall access areas were wet and slippery, the hot tub didn't was, the casino advertised on your site was closed and boarded up, the pool area pavers were covered in dirt, wet, and so slick you could barely walk across them to get the the breakfast area. I've traveled every year for 3-4 months a year since 1979, and this is one of the most poorly operated and maintained hotel I've ever stayed. In addition; I paid in full non refundable thru priceline.com and showed my receipt and confirmation number, but when I checked out the following day, the manager insisted I pay again because they had not been paid by priceline.
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good and a lovely setting.
Cons: The room we had was very small for the price we paid.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is good, close to both La Fortuna center and hot springs/natural parks area. The short unpaved access to the hotel is not a trouble at all. Rooms are single units, so very quite and silent. It is completely immersed in the nature with nice animals living close to you. Beds are very comfortable and the private balcony very cosy. Bathrooms are very spacy and clean. Breafast is meeting any taste, great variety of fresh food. Personell is friendly and helpful.
Cons: Swimming pool is a bit small, but more than enough if you plan to spend your time in the tipical local activities like hiking and hot springs attending.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our first stop in Costa Rica and we were looking for something with a view of the volcano which they provided. We had a double deluxe room that was extremely spacious with an excellent bathroom. The pool are was an added bonus in the heat. A buffet style Costa Rican breakfast was provided each morning which was great for filling up before hiking or other activities. The staff were very helpful. We arrived early on check in day and they allowed us to use the facilities until our room was ready. Location was great for access to La Fortuna and for activities in the surrounding area. We used Uber taxis for the majority of our stay which were excellent.
Cons: More loungers by the pool for the number of guests.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, clean
Cons: Everything looks good
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff here is what really makes this place amazing. Friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to help their guests. The rooms although dated are SUPER CLEAN. Margarita at the front desk was amazing.
Cons: The wifi was non existent for our stay. We have to work remotely during the week, and the spotty wifi made this nearly impossible. It had a high wifi review, so we booked this place. Unfortunately it may have worked for an hour a day if that. The restaurant is highly priced for sub par food. It was definitely quantity over quality. Be advised to check the weather forecast. We got a room with a view of the volcano, yet the weather was so foggy , we were never actually able to see it. Not the hotels fault, but if you pay extra to have a view of it, you might just opt for something cheaper with out a view.
6.3 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cabins are beautiful clean and very comfortable beds.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quiet location and the gardens around the individual huts were fantastic - full of hummingbirds just hovering around you as you sat outside or walked to your hut. Plenty of room for a family of four in the hut and a nice hammock on the outdoor seating area again in the middle of the beautiful gardens. Nice walk down to the river (although in the rainy seasons it was quite fast flowing but doesn't stop you paddling). Short drive into La Fortuna or down to La Salta for the rope swing into the river (fantastic and your could walk to the latter). Plenty of parking for rental cars. Great base for exploring La Fortuna and beyond. You're given a nice print out of the tours on offered by the accommodation too for you to peruse in your own time - and they aren't pushy about them either.
Cons: Bathrooms could have been better decorated - half an effort by someone to paint above the shower with yellow paint but left patchy and thin. Took away from the professional finish of the rest of the place. No real interaction with the staff after we checked in either as the huts don't require you to talk through reception or the bar which is a shame as you don't really get to know the staff (probably my fault for not dining there or using their tours). I do think at the price you pay for this accommodation that breakfast should be included - adds to the overall experience, interaction and getting to know the staff. Another chair or two outside would have been useful for a family of four!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommend this local family run place. The cute cabins are located right on nature trails down by a river. Food is excellent! We ate dinner here several times. Also, highly recommend the night tour with Bernie...so many amazing insects and frogs! Alejandra, the receptionist, is amazing and so helpful. Thank you!!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location about 5 minutes from downtown La Fortuna. We really enjoyed being close but not in the busier part of town. This hotel is family-owned and it was palpable. Alonso, the owner, was our host, waiter and travel planner, all at different times. His brother, Roy, our bartender and travel planner. We met their parents, spouses, children and extended family. It literally felt like vacationing with the part of your family that you really like. That said, we had all the privacy we wanted and needed. All cabins are a very short walk from the reception desk and you feel like you are in a secluded and romantic getaway. The breakfasts and dinners were surprisingly delicious. It was like a local gourmet restaurant built into a quaint and beautiful boutique hotel. They even had a trail for a night tour where we saw plenty of wild animals. And they helped us schedule an in-cabin massage/facial/body-wrap that was arguably one of the best spa-like treatments we have ever experienced. I would stay here again 100%!
Cons: Nothing to dislike at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We thought the cabins were gorgeous, surrounded by lovely gardens including birds (hummingbirds!) and wildlife. Can't recommend this place enough, we would definitely return, a highlight of our trip.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was wonderful. We loved the small balcony with hammock. The property has a short walking trail that leads to the river through the jungle and would be a great place for kids to play, and we were escorted by the hotel dog, which added to the fun.
Cons: La Fortuna is overall very expensive and there are few places to hike without paying over a hundred dollars (family of 4) per visit. The adventure parks feel like Disneyland.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The family who works here is incredibly friendly. We felt super welcome and there passion for their beautiful hotel and garden is amazing. We had a beautiful spacious room, that was decorated beautifully as it was our honeymoon. The bungalows are surrounded by their beautiful garden and you have the feeling like you are the only one and in the middle of real nature. Go to this place whenever you are in La Fortuna, it is really worth it!
Cons: For us it was no problem, but good to know that theie restaurant is very basic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds have beautiful ornamental gardens. The food was excellent and the location was perfect. Just a short taxi ride from the central town of La Fortuna.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The cabin was awesome.
Cons: More air conditioning needed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I would definitely stay here again! Minutes from town and minutes from la Fortuna waterfall. The staff was amazing and so helpful! Needless to say we rented the villa and it was amazing!!
7.0 Good
Pros: The room is nice and cozy, every room is a cabin with a cute balcony and lots of plants outside.
Cons: The smell in the room is not good. Smells very old and no fresh air. even if you want to open the windows it’s not really possible (I couldn’t open the window... also there are no nets, and you don’t want to take the chance that animals or insects will get in the room).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly, gardens were beautiful, breakfast was delicious and the cabins were really cute.
Cons: Bed was squeaky but not uncomfortable.

Pros: Very new, comfortable, clean and spacious
Cons: Not that I didn’t like but that I would rather be closer to the volcano
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff/owner. We had an issue with our air conditioning and it got replaced very quickly. It was possible to see animals in the hotels garden and there was a sloth in a tree right next to the reception.
Cons: The swimming pool was being renovated during our stay, but should be finished by the end of September.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome place to stay with great views! The place is very new and super clean and comfortable. The staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. It is also a great location right in town.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Not much, would have been nice to use the pool, but it was just ubder construction
9.6 Excellent
Pros: 5 min walk to the center of la fortuna!
Cons: That it says that transportation is Included and it’s not from San Jose airport!!!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the rooms were according to what we needed, a "tuanis" place to sleep while we went to several places of interest in La Fortuna. Breakfast was ok and the hotel employees behaved like a charm
Cons: Two things that I have to notice are: 1) I was double charged for the rooms, I still don't know if by mistake of the hotel or the Bank. I rescue that the hotel receptionist gave me the solution, however I am still waiting to see if everything is easily solved. 2) We agree that it is a place to rest, but ask that at 9:00 pm we turn down the volume by playing board games I see it somewhat excessive.
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfast, view, bathroom, service for tours
Cons: Information of what is inside of the room is not correct; microwave, diner table, wine glasses and more kitchen equipement are not in the room but in the restaurant, an assumption can be made that a kitchenette is included which is not true
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, great staff
Cons: Breakfast was a little simple.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were super friendly and helpful. Great location - quietly tucked away at the end of the road but walking distance to central town. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with exotic flowers and papaya trees. There is a view of the volcano!
Cons: Walls are thin so you can hear the neighbors in the adjacent rooms. WiFi did not work well. The pool is rather tiny but never full, so it’s fine if you’re the only party using it!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was really helpful and overall location was perfect. Really recommend this place!
Cons: The pool was under construction when we went.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Super clean, giant beds, beautiful plants everywhere
Cons: They had maintenance on swimming pool so we weren't able to use and changed hotels

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Including the free shuttle into town as it is a little way out.
Cons: Beautiful, relaxing place with secluded jacuzzi's and a lovely pool set amongst rainforest plants which attracted humming birds etc. The rooms were spacious with nice touches such as an umbrella for the sudden downpours.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The suite 401 was amazing. It had an enormous bed, huge bathroom and it’s own garden where we could sit watching the wildlife.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Very nice jacuzzi area with 4 "private" jacuzzi surrounded by vegetations making it feel like you're in the middel of the jungle. Excellent restaurant.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about this hotel. We previously had a bad experience at a hotel we were due to stay at and booked this hotel last minute. From the minute we arrived I loved it, staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are huge with dressing room and walk in shower. Has aircon, hot water and a lovely veranda which came in handy on a rainy day. Views from the bedrooms were lovely. Beds were comfortable and room was tastefully decorated. Loved the pool and hot tubs which we spent a lot of time in when not out on tours. The cocktails were made with fresh ingredients and the food was lovely I can highly recommend the fish and cordon bleh, very big portions and decent prices. The housekeeper cleans daily and created lovely animals out of towels. The local trail was lovely.
Cons: Absolutely nothing !!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff that speak perfect English. Accommodation has a nice facilities, restaurant is good although bit pricey. Pool is everything you need, jacuzzis are big bonus. Room itself is very nice and clean. Bed is very comfortable.
Cons: Location is a bit away from the city center. Due to the terrain quite a walking distance. As every accommodation in La Fortuna the price is on the high side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place! all is clean, gardens are amazing, The warm pools are beautiful and so nice to be there! Recommended! The restaurant is also very good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The small hot pools were great after a day trekking the jungle and the cocktails were a treat after surviving white water rafting and zip lining! The staff were lovely and the hotel gardens beautiful so all I all a fabulous place to stay.
Cons: We had a room with 2 double beds and it was quite small for 4 of us but it was adequate.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort was a beautiful setting lots of greenery and a very friendly and accommodating staff. Had a plumbing problem first day but it was quickly resolved. Food was good and location was close to town but still tucked away.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The place is beautiful. The pool and hot tubs are great. When we checked in we took advantage of the special at the spa. The spa is amazing the massage was fine but the location is unbelievable, the room was open on one side facing the jungle and river I have never been to a spa before where the nature sounds were real and not played through speakers.
Cons: It's the jungle do you have to expect some bugs. There were tiny ants everywhere at the resort they did not bother anything but seeing ants crawl through the room lowers the cleanliness score to 4 stars. That being said I would stay here again in a heartbeat even with the ants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best hotel I’ve stayed at in Costa Rica. Excellent service and they were more than happy to help organise trips and transfers. Hotel facilities are great including a choice of four hot tubs and a lovely pool.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The facilities are great, they have a large pool and 4 spa pools.
Cons: The breakfast was below average.

Pros: Location and the view
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Awesome setting, very relaxing and set away from everything in a dense forest made for a very relaxing environment. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They recommended, booked, and passed all charges through the hotel which was superb. The dual outdoor shower in the luxury suite we booked was amazing! The food at the restaurant was good, not amazing, but the staff made up for it with great service. Breakfast was great with a slightly different offering every morning, Perfect spread for Americans expecting eggs, pancakes, made to order omelets, fruit and etc. We had dinner the last night by the pool area and appreciated and even wider menu then what we were offered in the restaurant.
Cons: It’s pretty spread out but the hotel offers a shuttle around the property if you’re not looking to walk. The bed was a little hard for my liking. The electricity flashed on and off a few times a day during rain storms. It went out for 10 minutes during a dinner and an hour or so two other times. All part of being in the rainforest and if you venture out at night I’d suggest bringing the flashlight that is supplied in your room.

Pros: The staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating!! It was very cute and a close, short walk to town!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room is large and spacious, was clean and well decorated. The bed was very comfortable. Free parking & Beautiful garden The staff was amazing, pleasant and welcoming. Helped us with everything we needed. Took care of every request, even a vegan breakfast. We left with a very good taste after staying there and we are hoping to return. To sum up this hotel is excellent and highly recommended!
Cons: The water in the shower was lukewarm, which turned out to be a problem in Costa Rica later on, with locals claiming that the weather is hot and no hot water is needed. At breakfast there is a menu from which you must choose one dish. If you want more, you'll have to pay extra money.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were lovely - thanks so much! They make you feel like part of the family. A hidden little quiet paradise just out of La Fortuna. Very clean, very comfortable and very homely. The breakfast was delicious and by far the best we had during our journeys. I enjoyed watching the birds and even the odd agouti with my morning coffee. Perfect.
Cons: The only thing worth knowing, which didn't bother us, is that it is a little out of the centre - we think this is a good thing. When we wanted to go to the centre it was a safe comfortable 15-20m walk. Taxi of course also possible.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast and the staff were very nice!
Cons: The rooms are far from the gardens, so you don’t get to enjoy the nature. The bathroom is very small!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff gave us great tips of trips and thermal spa. Also the breakfast staff are been very nice. Garden with beautiful pool and many colorful birds around.
Cons: Nothing...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was amazing! We arrived very late (after midnight) due to flight delays and Heriberto waited for us. Melany and Sonia were very sweet and helped arrange our activities, ensuring we get a good price. They called our taxis and shuttles, and always greeted us with a smile. Location is located off beaten road but very close to downtown and restaurants.
Cons: There were very small ant like bugs around the sink and around the windows. They were harmless but we ended up taking some of them in our suitcase on our clothes.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice room. Yummy breakfast. Pool refreshing after morning tours! Lots of interesting birds seen in the garden. About a 10 min. walk into center of town. Local soda and mini-market 2-3 minutes away. They will call for a cab, only a couple minutes before it arrives.
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Very good breakfast buffet Very friendly and helpful staff Clean, big room The included access to Volcano Lodge Hot Springs is great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Probably the best price/quality ratio in all of la fortuna. Excellent staff (from check-in, housekeeping, night guards and breakfast staff) great location, decent wifi, basic but functional rooms equipped with all the necessities and with ice cold AC and the included buffet breakfast was way more than adequate to start the day. It included gallo pinto, eggs, protein, toast, pancakes, fruits, juices and coffee. The best part however was the included free entrance to their sister hotels facilities, Volcano Lodge. Hot springs with a wet bar, jacuzzi with thermal water, swimming pool with "regular" water, childrens playground etc etc. If you take into account the free entrance + the included breakfast then you are practically getting the room for free!!! Well, depending on how much you paid for the room of course. Also, the location, 100 meters from the central park, means you are within a 2-10 minute walk of dozens and dozens of restaurants. There is also a "window" by the pool to the connected sushi restaurant next door where you can order your food and eat it poolside. This will definitely be our go to hotel in la fortuna from now on. As I said earlier, this is probably the best price/quality ratio in all of la fortuna, bar none, I just thought that was worth repeating haha. Stay here and thank me later

Pros: Great value, superior staff ,excellent breakfast, free passes to the hot springs

Pros: It is clean and good located
Cons: The rooms inside are old
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very welcoming, pleasant and friendly. The room was very comfortable, air conditioning worked beautifully and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. Great variety of food, fresh and natural juices. Local tastes. We arrived late for breakfast as they were closes down and one of the cooks was nice enough to come over and ask us if we wanted fresh eggs and she prepared them for us. We had 2 rooms with 2 double/queen beds. We would stay again!
Cons: I really can't say anything bad. The only thing that was a little different was we didn't have hand towels for the shower. But I understand that I am just use to using hand towels in the shower being from the US and many other countries may not use them. This is more of a personal preference, than anything, and I personally would not hold it against the property. Sometimes it's nice to break away from the norm. :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and knowledgable. The hotel was clean. The breakfast was good. The location was good. We were able to enter into volcano lodge to enjoy the hot springs for free.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the San Bosco Inn. The room was not fancy, but clean and the bed comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. A nice breakfast was included. The best part was the hot springs at their sister property! Would definitely stay there again

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast Buffet was very good. Facilities were nice. Staff was very informative. Not within the main part of La Fortuna but close enough.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location is nice. Large room.
Cons: Bathroom outdated and sink and shower plumbing is not working properly and installed wrong, broken parts, cracked toilet, holes in the window screens, malfunctioning refrigerator, bad pillows, no blankets. My husband and I were sleeping at night when an employee started to knock on our doors and woke us up because he wanted to deliver something to the wrong room. Would be nice if the employees of this resort would check the delivery address before waking up the guests in the middle of the night. Extreme negligence.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location was nice. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The access to the thermal pools was wonderful.
Cons: The fact that we had to drive from our room to the pools and the restaurant was inconvenient. The bathroom was clean but a bit outdated. The staff was a bit strict about rules, giving the impression that we were at some sort of school field trip instead of a resort or vacation.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Volcano views, gardens, cleanliness, lovely hot and cool pools. Saw a ton of wildlife here! Breakfast was plentiful and amazing.
Cons: The rooms do need an update. We would've loved to see a different two for one special each day at the bar. Sangria was great though! We tried driving up to the observation hike parking lot and it seemed to go on forever without any signs. We had no idea where it ended!!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Liked that they have many pools with hot springs, horses, beautiful nature around.
Cons: Too loud and noisy, pools did not seem clean (some had moldy smell).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pools and slides, plus the amazing volcano view!
Cons: Rooms were simple - could have been slightly updated. But very comfortable.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Pools, breakfast, tours
7.9 Good
Pros: We liked the location and swimming pools were amazing.
Cons: The room needs to be remodel. Restroom need to be updated. Way to far to walk to restaurants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast buffet was great. Also there is a road in the property which takes you to a beautiful lookout point overlooking a lake and the volcano.
Cons: Room walls are paper thin and had issues 2 nights out of three with people in adjacent rooms talking/laughing until late hours. There are many different pools on the property (for lounging not swimming), but they are way too hot. Turn down the temps a little!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful facility for the whole family. Good luck location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Huge room perfect for families. Breakfast was amazing. Pools were our favorite thing to do daily. Our toddlers loved the animal park. Observatory hike is a must to see the volcano.
Cons: Extra services to be more cost effective. Outside in town it was cheaper to book activities and spa.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice place to walk around. Nice pools
Cons: Staff not so friendly. Lack of attention at the pool bar.
