Pension Dabrunz - Heimbach - Building
5
9.8 Excellent (22 reviews)
Overview Reviews
This second generation family-run guest house is located in Heimbach-Hasenfeld. Free parking spaces are provided directly in front of Pension Dabrunz. Each room has a private bathroom with shower, as well as a seating area and a TV. Some rooms have a balcony and all guests are welcome to use the garden. The Rammenalsperre Schwammenauel and the Rurstausee (second largest reservoir lake in Germany) are around 2 km from Pension Dabrunz, and can be reached in a 20-30 minute walk. Boat trips are available on the Rursee with a round trip from Schwammenauel to Rurberg. The Rurseebahn railway offers a one-hour tour through Heimbach and Hasenfeld. The accommodation is also placed after the third stage of the Wildnis-Trail (willderness trail), and guests can spend the night here and enjoy a delicious breakfast before setting off on the fourth and final stage. Heimbach is located about 45 km from Aachen, while Cologne and Bonn are each about 70 km away. However smaller towns such as Blankenheim or Bad Münstereifel, as well as the Hohes Venn-Eifel Nature Park in Belgium are all great day-trip destinations too, and are just 30-35 km from Pension Dabrunz.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owner lady is very nice, very accommodating. We asked for a kettle and she provided one we could keep for our entire stay. The area was beautiful, with a great view, and a beautiful backyard. Breakfast was nice, and she even provided extra bread rolls, lunch meat and bags to pack a lunch, which was really convenient. The room was clean and the blinds can shut out all light to make sleeping easier.
Cons: Sound insulation is not that great. Our window faced the main street and we could hear cars going by, which was a bit bothersome especially in the morning. Be aware that bed sheets are not provided, only pillows and quilts/blankets. My gf's mattress was ok but mine dipped in the middle. Also be aware that while the lady is really nice, she only speaks German, so you need at least a rudimentary understanding of German in order to communicate. Lastly, it says in the description that there are no daily cleaning services, but the lady actually did come into our room while we were away to clean and tidy up.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness of the owner, the quiet room, the lovely view from the balcony. Breakfast was lovely and the chance to make a sandwich to.go was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect and spacious rooms. Nice balcony with view on the hills.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
9.0 Excellent

Cons: I liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place, clean room, quiet and nice. Owner really friendly. I will come back again. Really great place.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, and great location for hiking and cycling. Supermarket 600m away (downhill).
Cons: Bed was a bit too hard for my taste.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was spotlessly clean, well taken care of, and the breakfast was marvelous. Both family members whom we met were very sweet and very helpful. They gave us a great recommendation for a nearby restaurant that was wonderful. Parking is free in their small lot adjacent to the home. Most of the rooms are at the back of the house, which was very quiet and had delightful views over the back yard and garden. The shower was fully enclosed and one of the best showers of the trip. They had nice little products to use in the shower. The cute light on one side of the bed, (there were 2 bedside tables), had a three-way bulb and you could just tap on the outside of the lamp to go to each level of lighting. It was extremely cute. The Wi-Fi was fast and free. The television had a couple English channels that were mostly news from England.
Cons: There was nothing that I actually didn't like. The minimal drawbacks were the location, since the Gasthaus is in a very small town and without GPS would have been very difficult to find. The bathroom sink does not have a good place for ditty bags due to the small size of the shelf above the sink. But there was plenty of closet and table space in the room adjacent to the bathroom for hanging clothes and putting out any items that were needed during the stay.

Pros: Spacious and modern apartment with a sauna. Great location to relax. Just perfect. Two nice restaurants and a shop within the resort.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Our accommodation was located directly at the parks 'square' allowing us to easily go out and experience the facilities provided. The walls were solid, I didn't even hear my mother-in-law snore!
Cons: The TV was quite cheap but performed ok. We missed a dry-mat or something to wipe your feet when entering through the terrace door. Also no mat or towel to stand on after showering, lots of water everywhere.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location is good, and all you need (a shop, restaurants) is in one place, but no breakfast on-site. Quiet and relaxing.
Cons: The room was without the view, swimming pool closed before 9:00 o'clock, they have just throw us away from the pool.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: private sauna, free parking, well equipped kitchen, large fridge, spacy balcony
Cons: high extra fee for renting towels, no toilette paper and no soap (you need to bring your own towels, toilete paper and soap with you!), the bed was quite big but the mattress was too soft

6.0 Good
Pros: Very good restaurant.
Cons: Decoration of the hotel too old and without any charm, to renew. Bed and furniture new, nice but poor quality of the mattress. Do not talk about pillows that are very uncomfortable. You must go there with your pillow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As an American, I appreciate the American meals served at dinner with a bit of a German flare. Lots reminded me of home and they had mozzarella sticks. They were also great about me having my dog with me.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We found a nice room for reasonable price although the weekend was crowded.
Cons: The property boasts for its buffalo steaks, which we ordered for dinner. The steak was chewy and disappointing and quite expensive.

Pros: Great value. Excellent food and beer. Staff very helpful and put up with our poor knowledge of the German language. The rooms were very pleasant clean and functional. Our whole group was impressed and we will defiantly be back when we visit the Nurbergring again.
Cons: I would not say there was anything negative about the hotel. The only thing would be that breakfast was a little basic but perfectly adaquit

Pros: Friendly host. Nice food in the restaurant.
Cons: breakfast started a bit late (only about 08:15) there was noice during the night, probably from an openair dance event
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff was very friendly. They did prepare a package of breakfast, to take with us when we needed to checkout and hit the road very early. Dinner in their restaurant was of good quality, with seasonal dishes.
Cons: The room was small; it almost had no (floor)space to put our opened suitcase. There was mold in the bathroom, and its ceiling is very low (approximately 185 cm). As a result I hit the ceiling a couple of times while showering. Breakfast was limited to bread (with jam and slices of cheese and meat), an egg, and pieces of fruit.

Pros: Nice owners, very hospitable and it was very clean. The owner took the time to show us his woodworks and the lady of the house told us about a nice walk in the woods near the house. They took the time for there guests. I recommend this place.
Cons: All good

Cons: The pillow was strange and lumpy. Next time I will bring my own.

Pros: The accommodation was easy to find at the edge of the village with parking space. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The facilities were very good. Close to a lake that had both cafes and restaurant and there were other restaurants in the next village a kilometre away.
Cons: There was a low ceiling coming down the stairs but the owner makes you aware of it as you are shown to your room. I said in England that would be a case of Duck or Grouse!

It features a rustic style bistro with a bare brick fireplace, and the centre of Nideggen is a 3-minute drive away. The Romantik-Landhaus Christophorus offers the ideal conditions for recreation in the heart of the Eifel national park – for business and nature lovers alike.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The property is indeed very special, uniquely decorated with antiques and staff collected by the owners. Very special. Nice view from the front of the hotel.
Cons: We arrived during a long weekend and all hotel facilities were closed. there was no option for coffee upon arrival, and there was none in the room.
9.6 Excellent

Cons: Showerhead was a bit old and the water come out as a stream of water.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good parking space, very kind owner, very nice breakfast.
Cons: From the photo's I did not understand that there was more then 1 building. For us it was not so comfortable that the rooms were only to be reached from the outside and that for breakfast you also had to go to another building. We thought that coffee facilities were in both rooms, in the single room there was none and not enough towels. But we managed to get around and had a nice weekend.
10.0 Excellent

Hotel am See - Kreuzau - Building
12
8.1 Excellent (406 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Kreuzau (Düren District), Hotel Am See is within a 15-minute drive of Burgau Castle and Leopold Hoesch Museum. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The host was excellent, he spoke very good English and was very informative about the area. The location was terrific with easy access to nature walks and the lake/river. It was very pleasant to sit out on the balcony and watch the world go by with a glass of very good red in hand. The rooms were compact but had all that we needed. The breakfast buffet was very good, with a wide variety of food and plenty coffee. Free parking was available immediately outside the property.
Cons: Sadly no coffee/tea making facilities in the room, although a pod machine was available in the corridor with coffee available to purchase. The curved staircase was a little challenging and needed to be taken with care, especially after a tiring day walking and sore leg muscles!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: What you get is a basic package - lodging and (if you want) breakfast, not a fancy spa hotel with swimming pool and so on. Well, the lake is just a short walk away. And while the Hotel am See only provides breakfast, a café and two restaurants are a short walk away. The Italian owner will make you welcome ... and provide lots of hints on what to do and where to eat.
Cons: On-site parking is limited - but this isn't really a problem as public parking is available just across the road (and, my opinion, as safe as parking in front of the hotel). Oh, and the train across the lake tooting its horn will have you looking for the emergency exit at first, sounds like the fire alarm going off.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner made us feel very welcome. Advised us on the best places to visit during our stay and places to eat. We also were given a choice of rooms so we paid a little extra for a view at the front of the hotel and a private balcony, unfortunately the weather wasn't brilliant so we couldn't make the most of this. We booked the hotel as a base to stay for visiting the area around the National Park Eifel and it was a good value hotel for doing this
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner provided us with a nice comfortable room so that we can stay comfortably with our baby. The breakfast was really nice. Location was nice, had at least 4 parking spaces, which was really helpful.
Cons: Room was a little bit cold although we turned on the heating to max. Maybe it was a one-time thing though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Claudio was an exceptional host, very informative, and very helpful. if you want piece and quiet this location is what you want. a lovely little cafe / restaurant opposite, with the mountains, and Lake a picturesque backdrop. fantastic little railway that runs along the foot of the mountains all the way to Duren, where trains to anywhere in Germany can be caught.
Cons: nothing not to like,
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room I booked was small, but big enough for one night, and had a comfy bed and all very clean and tidy. The owner offered me a swap,if I'd being staying longer, would have done so. The owner was a real character, greeted me in Italian, then spoke excellent English to me all my stay. The breakfast was great, and a good selection, and the waitress was a friendly lady.
Cons: All was OK for me
10.0 Excellent

Hotel Rotes Einhorn - Kreuzau - Building

8.9 Excellent (424 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Rotes Einhorn in Dueren (Düren District), you'll be 15.7 mi (25.3 km) from High Fens – Eifel Nature Park and 18.4 mi (29.7 km) from Eifel National Park. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: Room was clean and modern. The location was fairly easy to find. The staff I dealt with were friendly although limited contact.
Cons: There is no restaurant on site. It is situated over a kilometre away. We arrived after driving 650km at 20.50 and found no receptionist. We had to press a buzzer then wait 5 mins outside until someone arrived in a car to let us in. We were told the restaurant (off site) would close at 9.30 and there is no room service. So by the time we had unloaded our car and changed our baby there was no time to drive to the restaurant. We were given one room card which also worked the lights so my wife and child waited in the dark in the room while I unloaded the car with the only card we had which also allowed access into the main entrance of the hotel. We called reception again and asked for another card so I could drive to a petrol station to find food which meant waiting again for someone to arrive in a car and give us another card. Overall no staff to deal with requests on site and no restaurant either on site or off it after 9.30pm and no room service. Not what we expected from a 4 start hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I stayed in Suite Nr.62 and really enjoyed it. Not only my room was beautifully decorated, spacious and comfortable, but I liked sauna and fitness as well. Hotel Rotes Einhorn is new, modern, clean and comfortable. Gym is well equipped comparing to other hotel gyms - for cardio you can use treadmills, rowing machine, stationary bikes..But I was happy to find there dumbbells ( max 20kg), long bar with weights, multi rack and a bench, which is fair for basic strength training.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location
Cons: No bar
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room is very nice and efficient designed
Cons: Although the shower doors were closed, the bathroom was full of water after taking a shower.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: 1. Clean 2. Modern 3. Great, friendly staff
9.2 Excellent
Pros: For travelers coming by car, it was a nice choice. No stress car parking
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful property, clean, comfortable, good food for breakfast and dinner and free parking. Highly recommended to everybody travelling in the area. Also good value for money and english speaking staff.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Very pleasant staff
Cons: We had a room overlooking the main road and there was traffic noise all night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, all English speaking. The bar has a good stock of quality German beers, the food was incredible both for dinner and breakfast. They are dog friendly and allowed our little dog in the restaurant. Plenty of parking, the hotel is easy to find and is in a nice quiet spot so no traffic noise at night. All in all the hotel, it's staff and the rooms were perfect, we couldn't have asked for more and we will definitely be returning in the future for a longer stay.
Cons: We could not find anything wrong at all, it was excellent
7.5 Good
Pros: Good restaurant on site. Clean comfortable room.
Cons: We were given a room over the function suite and there was a wedding on the night of our stay. It was a hot night but we couldn't open the windows because of the noise. No aircon, no fan provided.
5.8 Okay
Pros: In the evening, nice staff in restaurant. Food was good
Cons: The rooms. The curtains are light/white there is a lot of light in the room and the curtains were also broke. It was poooooring hot in the room. Smoky smell from smoking staff outside circles into the room. Window open is loudness from street. Also on arrival our daughter got attacked by their guardian dog. She screamed and yelled. Nobody took care.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent at all times of day and very friendly. The menu was varied and provided for people with a smaller appetite. My husband was unwell during our first night and this was dealt with without fuss.
Cons: On both Friday and Saturday evenings there were parties in the hotel, the room used being directly below our bedroom (room 8). The music on both evenings was very loud and went on well past 2.30am. The bass was so loud it could be felt through the bed! On Saturday evening/Sunday morning, following the end of the second party, staff were then required to set up tables for two parties taking place on Sunday lunchtime which could not be done quietly. Even using earplugs it was impossible to fall asleep until utterly exhausted. We did not complain on Saturday about the Friday because our German is limited. If we had known there was to be a repeat performance on the Saturday evening, we would have made attempts to be moved.

Overview Reviews
Visitors to Hurtgenwald will find that the Landhotel Kallbach is a fantastic accommodation choice. For those who require internet access, the property features Wi-Fi in designated areas. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was a very secluded are great for hiking and biking, very quiet, no noise from cars etc, peaceful, staff was very helpful, there was an indoor pool that was nice and cool and not hot and sticky like most indoor pools, very refreshing
Cons: it was 40c when we were there and even though the was no climatisation, our room stayed cool for sleeping, but a bit warm when eating dinner
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The area is amazing, very green and great for hiking. The mini golf course is great. The sauna and pool were very nice too.
Cons: The beds were not too comfortable. The lights in the toilet switched on when someone was in the bathroom (movement sensors).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very good hotel, in the countryside out the way but that suited me. Really nice room and facilities.
Cons: As someone said in an earlier review- there’s a problem with flies. I understand it’s in the forest but surely some fly zapper things could be installed. They were also all over the breads at breakfast. Also they fry bacon in the breakfast area and the smell is a bit much, if you’re vegetarian then I don’t reckon it’d be too pleasant, I’m not but didn’t like it much.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Unhelpful stafff
Cons: We were late and the staff were difficult
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The charcuterie board in the morning.
Cons: Menu was a little old fashioned.
7.5 Good
Pros: Overall we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The SPA is very nice and the staff very friendly. In particular, we liked Marcel who was very helpful and kind.
Cons: I can’t say it is up to the standards of 4 stars hotel (for example: we had to pay extra for the slippers for the spa because there were not part of the room kit; not a bottle of water in the room; no fridge). Our room looked pretty old. At the end of our stay we found out there were also renovated rooms. We found it quite expensive (a bottle of water 5.90 euro; slippers 3 euro):
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is ideal if you want to hike in the Eiffel. Hotel was good (but not spectacular). Room was ok but started to get a litlle bit worn out. Balcony was great. Restaurant had an extensive wine card and the mini-golf next to the hotel is recommended.
Cons: There is no real town (the place is a collection of 5 hotels). No bicycle paths (except for MTB) and terrain is not suited for regular bikes. Breakfast was healthy but could be tailored more to people preferring something sweet or more English style of breakfast (with bacon and sausages).

Pros: Very good location for visiting locations of the WWII battle of the Hurtgen Forest. Easy to find and lots of parking. Restaurant had a buffet for dinner but you could order ala carte as well if you wanted a lighter meal. The food which I ordered was excellent and good service. The room was comfortable and clean with a balcony.

Pros: Spacious and modern apartment with a sauna. Great location to relax. Just perfect. Two nice restaurants and a shop within the resort.
