I had reserved a car ahead of time at least 2-3 weeks prior to my trip! And had paid it for it ahead of time. When we got to the Thrifty rental site, we chose to use the kiosk to sign in since the agents were busy with other customers and thought it would save time. When we checked in the kiosk , at the end of submitting all info we were told it could take several minutes to process our information. At that moment an agent was available and said he could help us but we told him that we had put all info in and we were waiting for the machine to process our information. He said there was nothing he could do to help us. We had to wait. Fortunately we had only to wait only 3-5 minutes. Then we were able to go to another agent who made us go through all the information we had provided at the kiosk! Next we went out to the garage to get our car and thought all was good after a frustrating and lengthy experience at the rental counter. As we were driving out with our car at the exit office our car was scanned and we were told IT WAS NOT RENTABLE!!!! The booth agent then took a marker out and starting writing on the window that car was not rentable and had us back up and drive it back to Thrifty pick up. When we returned to Thrifty pick up, we were told we could not park the car in pickup and had to take it back to drop off! We had not even left rental pick up lot! We parked the car in the pick up lot and had to wait as the pick up agent showed other people to their cars. Finally we were given a car and had no issues leaving the airport. That night was not terribly busy but we had to wait at least an 1hr and 15 min. to leave the airport. I have had way better experiences working with other car rental companies in large airports like Houston and never had to go through this. I will not be using Thrifty again because the service was POOR. The car was clean and comfortable though!

Reserved a Jeep Cherokee type vehicle. 3rd party CarRental.com booked an electric car. I had to pay extra at the counter to get the type of vehicle I reserved. The vehicle I rented has significant wheel noise. No one is ever interested in listening or addressing the detailed issues

It needs to be explained better on which cars need a major credit card and which ones can be rented with a debit card. I reserved a rental for a trip and when I went to pick it up they denied it because all I had was a debit card. So unfortunately I wasn't able to make my trip. I'm very disappointed in the service that I was given

No airport shuttle. Pick up and drop off was inconvenient. Promised to reimburse for uber to replace shuttle. I submitted receipt but never heard back. Will not recommend to others. Not worth the savings.

AVR Houston is not located at the airport. Trying to make arrangements for pickup was a bit challenging. We had an early morning flight and asked about after hours returns. We were told they had a contract with a local hotel for drop off and the hotel shuttle ran every 15 minutes. We arrived at just after 5:00 am at the hotel. The front desk person was on a shuttle run and informed us that the hotel shuttle only ran every hour and we could not leave the hotel until after 6:00 am. We almost missed our flight.

Pros:

The van I expected was not available the day of pick up. I did receive an email saying my rental is ready for pick-up at 11 a.m. the day before. I was dropped off and never received a call or email saying my van is no longer available. I had to rent a vehicle from a different vendor for triple the price of the van I requested.

Cons:

Communication to your customers. You sent the initial email saying that the my van was available for pick up yet NO ONE bother to notify me when it is no longer available.

Pros:

While I was on my way to pickup the vehicle I called the facility to let them know instead of 5 I am expecting to arrive there at 530pm. I was told by the staff member on phone that they close at 4pm and she was told by her boss not to wait and asked me to come next morning at 8 am if still of interest.

Cons:

I will let other traveller's to note even when the booking is accepted for 5pm doesn't necessarily means the facility will be open

They made the pick up process so complicated and tried to upsell insurance and other extras that I don’t need. I have rented cars at many places. This was the first time they asked to see a full insurance policy I have, even the insurance card with policy # and expiration date was not sufficient for them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This was the absolute worst rental car company I have ever used. Its "office" is not at the rental car hub with all the other companies, but in a long-term parking lot. It took over 30 minutes to get there after you get in the underserviced long-term parking shuttle bus line and waiting to be the last one dropped off after riding around the entire long-term lot. When you finally arrive you enter a filthy shack with only Webcams, tv screens, and an automated lock box holding the keys (no employees on site). One TV was broken from an obviously frustrated prior renter. The biggest kicker is in order to keep the price you booked the car for you must give a $1,000 deposit that will be held for up to 15 business days (i.e. 3 weeks!). Otherwise, you can pay about 40% more than your booked price to only hold $500 for the same amount of time.
