7.6 Good13 Nov 2017
Good car, great customer servicePros: The car was perfect for what we needed it for. Great customer service.Cons: We booked a 7 seater which said it would be a vivaro or similar. We needed 7 seats plus plenty of boot space as we were going away for a week, we had suitcases and a pram. When we arrived to pick it up we were shown a small car with no boot space once all the seats were up. This was obviously too small, by chance there was a Hyundai I800 that had just been brought back while we were on the forecourt. So this was cleaned up for us. I do not know what would have happened if that vehicle had not been returned. Overall, the service was fan and would definately use again.

Top tips for renting a car in Wakefield

  • When you’re visiting this Yorkshire town, you’ll find attractions not only in the central area, but also on the outskirts and in the surrounding countryside. While there is a public transport system, if you want to be able to go anywhere you want at any time, setting your own itinerary, car hire in Wakefield becomes a very attractive option. One of the most famous landmarks in town is The Hepworth, home to a world-class modern art collection. The National Coal Mining Museum for England provides close-up insights into the area’s blue collar heritage.
  • The nearest airport, where you can sort out Wakefield car hire, is Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA). All you need to do when you arrive is go straight to the car hire centre. It’s not at all hard to find or to get there. Head from baggage collection into the terminal, immediately turn to the east side, and you’ll see plenty of kiosks with brand signage in front of you. Once you’ve sorted out the formalities, the car park is outside the main terminal exit. Hop in your hire car, take the short 15-mile drive into Wakefield, and you’ll be all set.
  • Wakefield takes driving safely very seriously, especially given the number of schools in the town, so you’ll find many traffic-calming measures in place, including mini-roundabouts, speed bumps and cushions. They won’t cause any problems, though; as long as you drive sedately, you won’t mind them much. Other road users are usually polite and observant, so it should be a pleasant experience.
  • As you’d expect, rush hours in Wakefield occur at the usual peak road activity hours between roughly 07:30 and 09:00 and then again from around 16:00 to 17:00. Doncaster Road and Newton Bar can become pretty congested, but you’re in luck here, as you can take the Eastern Relief Road to skirt these. You should also be aware of slow moving traffic when you’re in the area of Hartshead Moor service roads. The J40 is another faster moving road that can serve as a good alternative during rush hours. If you’re using car hire in Wakefield, bear these roads in mind.
