Top tips for hiring a car at Houston Hobby Airport

  • Car rentals at Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) save you money and time from getting to the airport to any destination you prefer. With a car rental, you can easily drive to Houston's attractions, museums, and eateries at any given time. Unlike the case in public transport, car rentals do not have fixed schedules where you have to catch a certain bus at a specific time. It also saves you money as you won't deal with fare hikes at rush hour and extra charges for connecting different means to your destination. A car rental is comfortable and gives you space and freedom to travel around with your luggage hard to achieve with public means.
  • Getting a car rental is recommended over public means for travelers getting from Houston Hobby Airport. Several buses offer transfers to Downtown Houston, but you might have to get another means if you need transportation to another destination. Car rentals at Houston Hobby Airport offer direct services from the airport to any destination you might prefer. Unlike the case in public transport, car rentals save you the hassle of waiting for the bus or fitting your schedule into catching buses at certain hours. As long as you have a full gas, you can easily drive to any area within and outside Houston.
  • When returning Houston Hobby Airport car rentals, ensure to check with your contract's fuel policy. Renters pick up most car rentals with a full gas tank and have to return the car with a full gas tank. Failure to fill up the gas tank can lead to extra charges, sometimes up to three times the normal amount. Once it is full, input address 7714 Airport Boulevard Houston Texas in the car rentals GPS, head over to baggage claim area, and find car rental companies. Before handing in the car rental keys, ensure you have taken all your personal belongings out of the car.
  • Certain days and times tend to be busier when picking up or dropping off your car rentals at Houston Airport. On weekdays, the busiest times are in the mornings and evenings when people are picking up cars to commute. Travelers with arrivals at these hours can wait at the lobby to skip crowds or make earlier reservations for pick-ups to locations off-site.
  • 25% of our users found a car hire at Houston Hobby Airport for £32 or less
  • Book your car hire at Houston Hobby Airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

Upon arriving at the Houston airport, it took over an hour to get the rental car. We had rented the car to drive to the Austin airport due to a long layover and ultimately with how long it took budget to check us in and give us a car. Our original flight beat us back to the Austin airport completely waste of time and money would not recommend.

My flight was cancelled and I never made it to Houston so never could pick up the car. I called Hertz and they said they couldn’t refund it or give me credit to use in the future because I booked through a third party. Next time I will book directly through the car company.

I completed my pre check in as it said “avoid the line” and just pick up your car. I already pre paid for the car and when I got there, I showed them my Apple Card via my cell phone as I do not have a “physical” card. They would not accept me not having a physical card even tho it was pre paid and my card was charged—— and I pre checked in! So I had to make a new reservation while I was at the counter, made me run late to my meeting and I had to pay 2 times for a car rental! I will never use them again.

Terrible. My flight was delayed and they were closed when I arrived. According to the website they closed at 10 PM. My flight arrived after 11 PM. I attempted to call the office at 11:37 PM and no one answered. The pre-recorded message advised that a shuttle would arrive every 20-30 minutes so I continued to wait. A shuttle never arrived so I had to take alternate transportation to my hotel. I called the next day to attempt to pick up the car and they said the reservation was canceled due to me not picking it up within a few hours (which was impossible because they were closed). To make matters worse, they charged me for the full price for the rental and I did not receive a car.

I rent a lot of cars. Usually from National/Enterprise but occasionally others. Including smaller local companies. Decided to give this one a try. One and done. It took forever to get the rental in the first place. Longest wait I've ever experienced as the desk personnel attempted to sell two renters ahead of me a variety of options they didn't want or need. Tried with me too. Nearly two hours to finish and get a rental. Then it was an " upgrade " from a compact SUV that I reserved to a compact sedan. The windshield was filthy. The car was obviously a refurbished salvage vehicle. They attempted to prevent me from adding " photos taken " to the review of the car. This is a cheap lousy operation that borders on being described as fraud. Never again.

Really the worse customer service they have. Very rude. Shuttle never showed up. There’s no information at all about its timings in which the shuttle is being operated. Went to the office and they said the reservation is cancelled and go reserve a new one. I was on the front desk but they asked to go online and book it. Reserved it then just adding to my frustration with silly questions they didn’t provide the car. I was asked to cancel the reservation. Tried canceling but online portal denied it. Then I called them and instead of refunding the amount they offered the credit. Such a rip off. Unbelievable and I never recommend this Easirent company

After my flight was delayed, I arrived at the Dollar location at about 6:04pm. The office was still open and two men behind the counter. I explained my situation and said I was there for my rental and that I was already checked in via pre check-in via email. I was abruptly told " sorry , we close at 6:00pm. You'll have to come back tomorrow ". I'm 75 and my wife is handicapped and 73, but they would not help us. Being an off airport location they left us on the street to fend for ourselves. Probably the worse customer service I've ever experienced. After picking up the car the next morning, I was told I should receive compensation for the shorter rental period from Kayak. We'll see if that's true. Needless to say, I'll never rent with Dollar again.

Quality of the vehicle was top notch. I don't see any reason for paying extra money by renting from those "other" more expensive companies.

I booked my car through kayak and Expedia, during which I prepaid with my Chime card. When I reached the thrifty counter, I was told they do not accept Chime despite it being accepted during the reservation. I have since attempted to get a refund since I was unable to get a rental car and was nearly stuck in Houston, TX and was told there was nothing Expedia could do because they could not get ahold of thrifty to authorize it, I am now out nearly $350 ontop of the rental price of a different company. I will not be working with Thrifty again and I certainly will not be booking third party through Kayak or Expedia ever again.

Economy

KAYAK
The car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and had tires that were nearly bald. We never picked up the car because of this. We attempted to contact the Economy via phone and email (their office was closed) to request a change of car or a refund, and never heard back from them. Dishonest agency peddling substandard and unsafe cars.
