9.3 Excellent
Pros: A very nice and relaxing hotel outside of the city. We were greeted with a complimentary drink on the terrace overlooking the pool and ocean when we checked in, which was very welcome and a nice way to unwind after our long drive that day. I wish we had more time there to enjoy the pool, which looked lovely, but we had two very adventure filled days during our time there. The breakfast was very nice, especially getting to sit outside on the terrace overlooking the water.
Cons: We had room 101, whose terrace overlooked the terrace off the lobby, giving it no privacy. But we didn't plan to use the terrace, so didn't ask to switch rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view was great. It’s nice to relax, a bit far from everything.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so beyond nice! The accommodations were stunning. Loved the view!! The hotel was quiet! Breakfast was great! Could not have asked for a better stay
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful serene property with a fabulous view from every room. Friendly and helpful staff. Very relaxing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were really great and each has its own private terrace with an ocean view. A/c worked great, and the rooms were lovely dark... great place to catch up on some sleep. Great pool.
Cons: The property is a little far from the Lagos town centre (20min by car/taxi), but worth it for the peace and quiet. The hotel restaurant menu is a little limited.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is five stars all the way. The setting, the staff, the room was impeccable. Their food and recommendations were awesome.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: First of all, all the staff we met during our stay were really kind and professional. The Location is Great, i think you have a sea view from every room. The rooms are big and you have plenty of room to hang your clothes. Plus a big balcony where you have the possibility to sunbath. It’s the perfect hotel if you want to relax, enjoy the silence and spend time at the pool.
Cons: I think the breakfast could be much better for their price category. We had better breakfast in hotels were we paid 50-100€ for a night. the pool was not heated and really cold. And it couldn’t get that warm only with the help of the sun. During our short stay, nobody was in the pool.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location location location what a view. Not for everybody as long walk to Largos. Very peaceful. Will be back
6.3 Good
Pros: The view is lovely, the terrace too. Very peaceful Breakfast was really nice.
Cons: Unfortunately the room we booked was not the room we stayed in. We booked the room mainly due to a really cool layout with the bath inside the room, but unfortunately we got the room with a walk in shower, designed for guests on wheelchairs. It wouldn't be such a huge problem if e were notified, as hotel managed to send us an email, but nothing was mentioned. We've been asked if we would like for anything to be arranged, as it was my husband's bday, and we asked for non alcoholic sparkling wine-if possible, if not- not a huge problem, as we understand that it might be tricky. Upon arrival we were greeted with alcoholic sparkling wine, not great for someone that doesn't drink. It seems like the staff wants to help but in reality, it isn't working very well. Our waitress during dinner was lovely, but the waiter kept laughing at us everytime he came to our table, as he didn't understand anything. The beach is 25 minutes walk, however they offer buggy service to drop you off. Not sure how does it work with coming back. The hotel is only 2 years old and it is quite minimalistic in what it has to offer, but I suppose it is enough for people. Unfortunately the huge bed was one of the most uncomfortable ones we slept on. Neither of us slept and woke up tired. Unfortunately we wouldn't stay again as you don't quite get what you pay for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very nice adults only hotel. Outstanding view from your room. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. I purposely wanted one outside of town because I wanted peace and quiet which this one offers.
Cons: There is nothing I didn’t like.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, just across the bridge from the train station and bus station right behind the hotel. With that said, make sure to get a marina view room. Walking distance to town centre and beaches. Great service also as we were able to store our luggage after check out and then use the shower facilities (towels and toiletries provided) when we returned from the beach!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was very nice and convenient.
Cons: Breakfast could have been better. Parking space was quite limited.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel was excellent, from the rooms to the bed and the staff too. All receptionists were so helpful when giving us recommendations especially Isobel and Miguel! Great location next to the stunning Marina and only a 10 min walk into the town. Loads of beaches nearby and great restaurants too!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Pool was nice, parking on site, mostly clean, pleasant staff, nice sized room
Cons: Ants in the room, towels were poor quality, WiFi was poor beside pool
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is really great, facing the marina and about 5 minutes walk to the historic center. Miguel, the receptionist was the highlight of the stay. He’s so friendly and he’s always smiling. He’s a great help , he recommended 2 restaurants who were really tasty, and managed to help us get a bus when we missed our train. I really hope he gets what he deserves , God bless.

Cons: Smoking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s location, staff and rooms
Cons: Just some cupboard space would have been nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Maybe they need more waiters for breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in the center of Lagos. The staff was very friendly and rooms/ property decorated with taste.
Cons: None
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice decor to room; beautiful pool, comfortable
Cons: Staff in restaurant not as good as those on the front desk. Breakfast was ok, but overpriced. Had dinner at the restaurant one night, again food and wine was nice but would expect it to be better for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place with great service, adorable atmosphere and tasty food
Cons: Sometimes at night you can be woken up by donkeys and gooses living in neighborhoods
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great fresh beautifuly designed rooms. Loved the bath and outside hammock. Breakfast was on point every day. Great space and pretty great location if you want to stay in the old town but in a fresh new build. Dinner and their ice cream was also well worth it.
Cons: Nothing.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful property and friendly staff. The design of the hotel is beautiful. That is it showcase. Food and drinks are great.
Cons: Casa Mae is not for couples and singles who don’t want to hear screaming kids that run around the property and use the pool for jumping and football games. Management did nothing to stop kids gone wild. We have traveled to design hotels around the world and this was a really bad experience. We will not be returning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were divine, as wax the decor in the entire hotel. Very light, white and modern. Reception staff were excellent!
Cons: Not much except noticed there was no TV, not that it bothered us but it may do for some.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly
Cons: I didn’t like the fact that the room I booked wwas not available when I got there. They told me that because of that they were giving me the pergola suite in the old house. Did not like it. It was old paint chipping in places and cracking. They also misled me saying it was a suite which it was not. The living room they said I would have was a shared living room in the house. It was also very noisy since it was right by the pool. Children screaming and playing early in the morning. I booked this hotel for the modern rooms in the main building which I did not end up getting. So overall very disappointed. Felt like I was scammed because the room that booking reserved for me was not the room they end up giving me.
6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful rooms and grounds. Some staff was wonderful, others quite rude and seemed like they didn't want to be there.
Cons: I had a beautiful room but it was very difficult to enjoy because of the music loudly blasting from the restaurant starting at 5pm--loud club music with a big base. Boom. Boom. Boom. So much for relaxing and kicking it in the hammock post-pool and pre-dinner on the balcony. This happened two nights in a row and the person in the front desk was rude and acted like not wanting pulsing club music in my room was a ridiculous request. The second night it happened there wasn't even a single person sitting outside at the restaurant. At check out I was told the manager would contact me, but never heard anything.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and accommodating staff. Nice facilities and close enough to walk to town & beach and pool great at apartments. Underground parking good for keeping the car cool too!
Cons: Nothing. The villa we booked for our holiday was not available on our arrival date so we booked the apart hotel for one night and were very pleasantly surprised - we would not have been disappointed to have stayed there for the duration of our stay in Luz.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff, lovely pool area, large apartments, short walk to restaurants.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Good private location with nice gardens.
Cons: Limited daytime and evening menu. Must take note this is very dog friendly venue which can be disturbing with barking dogs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, the location good and very quiet at night. I twisted my ankle on a pothole, the staff were very kind.
Cons: The road to the main town was dusty and had potholes, it was difficult to navigate at night as no street lights in the last 100 yards or so.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect if you have a car. Luz is quiet and cozy but close enough to Lagos for a bit more action if desired. The breakfasts are beautiful, the beach amazing and the pool is beautiful and maintained very well. There are several stunning hikes from the hotel as well. We had a beautiful view of the pool and the sea. It was everything we were looking for!
Cons: It would have been lovely to have comfy lounging chairs on the balcony. For the coolish evenings, a hot tub would be a nice addition.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious room - spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. Hope to return again in future.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location Breakfast Great view from room
Cons: That I could not stay longer

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is really nice, you can tell a lot of effort was put into making it this nice. The breakfast is very special compared to standard hotel breakfast, and guests can enjoy a sauna and a steam bath.
Cons: The bed was not very comfortable, as we had two beds instead of a double bed, and the two beds were not attached to each other in any way, so it was impossible to sleep together.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely fabulous breakfast, beautiful landscaping. Very peaceful.
6.8 Good
Pros: Staff friendly, good to be able to shower after checkout and before flight when you'd been at the beach. Breakfast was good, huge selection. No kids, great.
Cons: Our room was dark, smelled a bit of smoke and the mattress was so sunk in on my side I had a sore back after one night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - Room was spacious and bed was huge - Clean and tidy - Breakfast was fantastic
Cons: - Noisy cleaners from 8am, especially for those with a light sleep (my girlfriend) - Swimming Pool in the shadow for the majority of the day - Price could potentially be high, I was lucky to get a good deal with “Genius Level 1” so overall quality/price was a no-brainer.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast! Best I have ever had in 50 years of staying in hotels.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great selection at breakfast, all fresh and of a high quality. Clean and well maintained rooms. Good location close to the old town. And extremely friendly staff. Well worth a visit
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is sparkling clean and the staff are very friendly. Since our bus is in the afternoon the hotel has showering facility for guest who has check out in the morning thus allowing us to do some water activities in the morning.

Pros: Spotlessly clean. Very quiet night sleep. Breakfast was lovely with varied choices. Comfy bed and good size bathroom. Nice balcony with view of the garden. Staff were lovely. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Pros: Lovely rooms, nice staff, great pool.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. Swimming pool was very clean and bathing facilities were awesome. We were also given beach towels and portable umbrellas for the beaches which was awesome. The staff were kind enough to prepare sandwiches for kids during odd hours at a request.
Cons: The wifi connection was not so good in all rooms and sections.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We really liked this place. Located in peacefull area in between the old town center and Porto de Mos beach. To both it was reasonable walking distance. Alternatively, there is a bus stop right next to the hotel. Important to know is that bus frequency on the route is significantly lower outside the high summer season (July - August). Room size was good enough and the bad was really large and comfortable. Breakfast was great. We also recommend trying dishes from restaurant card. Fishes and rabbit were delicious. Finally, a big thank you to the stuff - you were great :)

They could arrange massage for us with Monica, she is excellent , we recommend her 100%. But the ladies in the kitchen are the best. Top class. Thank you, girls, for taking such great care of us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the bonus included buffet breakfast - just wonderful sitting outside in the sun enjoying our buffet breakfast! The pools were gorgeous to sit around and very peaceful. The location was excellent - could walk to Camillo beach or the other way to Old Town. Also the very generous offer from the owner to drop us at the train station on the day we left. Highly recommend Villis D Dinnis!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was the most comfortable we have ever had on holiday. The staff were all really friendly and the facilities were excellent.
Cons: Having to go home after a nine-day stay!
6.3 Good
Pros: The rooms are big, clean and have a nice view. The hotel accommodations are also quite good.
Cons: The food at the hotel is quite bad and really not acceptable for a 5 stars resort. We ate at the restaurant of the hotel In our first day and we were served a very expensive frozen pizza and frozen pasta (and not even the good kind of frozen meal, they were basically cheap tasteless pasta with ketchup sauce). Also we did not appreciate that, during the check-in, they introduced us one of their restaurants as a “Michelin Star style restaurant”, even though it does not have a Michelin Star “yet”. This is something quite presumptuous and misleading to say about a restaurant, I don’t think they should get away with it... Anyway, after that first day, we never ate at the hotel again and we had always delicious Portuguese food in Lagos.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Appartment, swimming pool, breakfast, the gym, friendlyness, service, location near The Sea,
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Persons available
Cons: No beach near
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is really clean and nice, it’s also family friendly.
Cons: Beach close by (Praia de Moss) is not very good, it’s quite full of sea moss! We had to hang out at the pool all the time. The hotel gives complementary drinks upon welcome, however we were never informed that there is a limited selection of drinks for the “welcome offer”. So we ordered cocktails, and in the end we were charged for that (around 30€). When we explained the situation to the receptionist, he understood that it’s their fault so in order to apologize he wanted not to charge us for this. However, the hotel manager decided that we have to pay the drinks, although it was their fault!!!!!!!! This was a reallllly cheap attitude for a 5-star hotel, especially considering how much money we spent for the whole stay!!!!!!! Unfortunately it was a bitter ending... just because of the lack of vision of the hotel manager. Shame!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great view and close to Lagos City
Cons: Not a Dislike but would like more food options on the property.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Facilities fabulous
Cons: Lovely walk at front of the hotel but difficult to access as poor signage
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Place was great location is exceptional and everything is clean and well taken care of. Our apartment was very large and spacious. Noticed easy access for anyone (elderly, children, disabled).
Cons: Quality of food is good but does not have a five star level. We also tried the Senses restaurant which was average.
5.8 Okay
Pros: We started in a 2 bed appt with a view over the building site. Appalling for £300+ per night!!!!! We paid to upgrade to the hotel - much better.
Cons: Some staff were great most declined to take any responsibility.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location and facilities are fantastic, we were a little disappointed with the dinner in the gastro bar (too expensive and very average) but breakfast was superb.
Cons: Dinner
Baluarte da Vila Apartments - Lagos - Building
9
9.1 Excellent (903 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Baluarte da Vila Apartments, you'll be centrally located in Lagos, within a 5-minute drive of Dona Ana Beach and Porto de Mos Beach.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff and facility all ideal. Recommended!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is perfect! It's super close to Lagos town, only a 5 minute walk (up a small hill). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and very accommodating. The room was big with a small but practical kitchen to make breakfast and meals during our stay. We managed to find free parking very close to the property every time we needed it. The pool area is very nice with plenty of sunbeds and tables to have a drink or a meal. Our room and balcony was overlooking the pool and the beach which was lovely. Nice and quiet accommodation. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!
Cons: Nothing, everything was great! :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely studio room with balcony looking out to sea. Clean rooms and helpful staff. Would recommend.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool was great, the location was PERFECT, the staff was very nice.
Cons: The room was a little worn down, could have used new linens. The bathroom smelled like wet towels. Wished the wifi worked better in the rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous apartment in great location. The bed was the most comfortable holiday bed we ever stayed in!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building in lovely surroundings. Huge room with all amenities.
7.0 Good
Pros: Ideal position, with the roof-top terrace offering fabulous views. And all of the staff were superb; couldn't have been more helpful. If you require space, Baluarte de Vila Apartments should be your number one choice; if you are looking for a little luxury, however, you may find it falls short.
Cons: It's an older property, so while spacious, is missing a lot of the amenities more modern apartments offer. There was no cooker, only 2 hobs and all of the furniture/decor would benefit from an update. While clean, the bedding and towels were very old and the doors had to be slammed shut. . . Cue many early morning/late night disruptions
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Baluarte da Vila Apartments totally exceeded our expectations! We loved the view over the pool and the sea. The pool area was always relaxing and the water refreshing during our hot July stay. Jessica at the front desk was so incredibly helpful, helping us to book an excursion to see the Benagil Caves and even reserving a dinner at a wonderful (and less touristy) restaurant for our last night—it was our favorite dinner in Lagos! We walked everywhere (to the most perfect beaches, through town, down for breakfast) even though we had a car for the longer trips outside of town. Parking was a little tricky, but we were there during high season and always found free parking. I can't recommend this place enough. Really great stay!
5.5 Okay
Pros: Great and helpful staff, central location and free parking all around
Cons: Outdated and uncomfortable furniture, poor bedding linen, pics displayed on booking.com are somewhat misleading i.e what you see is not what you get in terms of quality.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy! Beautiful view. Beautiful pool. Friendly staff. Great location. Would recommend to friends and family in a heartbeat!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A quiet haven in bustling Lagos, but such a short walk into the centre, so the perfect location to have a quiet night's sleep and chill by the pool but be in the bars and restaurants or Preia Batata within a few minutes. Also, as a little up hill, you get an amazing view.
Cons: Nothing, lived up to expectations and everything that we were looking for. We'd first checked into another place in town and left after one night as it was so noisy and small and this was like heaven, the perfect place to get the best of all worlds.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: They have 5Litre water bottles in the reception. That's about it. Oh and a semi decent view of Meia Preia beach in fairness.
Cons: Towels that were meant to be changed three times during our stay were not. The place is nice but grubby - looks like a decent cleaner needs hiring. Toilet roll is in short supply and dustbins were never changed nor was there somewhere to put any rubbish.
5.3 Okay
Pros: The pool and the jacuzzi are a great added bonus. Location was very good as well.
Cons: The rooms could definitely be a bit cleaner.
5.7 Okay
Pros: The price, the pool, location and the freedom to come and go as you please without being annoyed by front counter staff. Fridge, toaster, balcony, cooktop & microwave all good.
Cons: We asked for a double and got twin beds (no other room around), rooms need an upgrade - broken and stained tiles, it just seemed unloved - but this was all expected due to the price we paid. It is self-contained but I expected dishwashing detergent and a dishcloth to be provided. No wii-fi available, but that was expected.
6.0 Good
Pros: The character of the building.Location. Cleanliness of apartment.Constant hot water.
Cons: No one to meet you when you get there.Had to ring a phone number left on the door and wait 10 mins for someone to let us in.Towels not changed at all throughout the week.
6.7 Good
Pros: I enjoyed the feeling of bieng secure and it was in the centre of the city
Cons: no
5.0 Okay
Pros: Definately location- in old part of town, with view for Lagos bay. We had 2 tarraces with fantastic view.
Cons: Bed covers need to wash. When we arrived I had to ask about toilet paper- lady from reception (mirracle to see her there) said that it is self-catering hotel, so no toilet paper is provided. I was very supprised about it- not everyone knows about it before arrive. You have to buy everything if you wish to stay longer. All apartments need to be refreshed.
6.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful building, lovely part of the old city and very spacious accommodation
Cons: Seagulls, no sharp knives with the kitchen utensils
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, near to beaches and old town (easy walking distance). Very friendly staff. Apartment was extremely comfortable, spacious and decorated to a modern standard. Excellent value for money, I would definitely return here!
Cons: Everything was perfect for us but it is located at the top of relatively steep hill, customers with walking difficulties would probably need to get a taxi. We also had a little trouble finding the hotel as there are no signposts except a tiny printout on the front door!! However we called the number provided by booking.com and the man w3e spoke was very helpful in directing us.
Overview Reviews
Located by the Meia Praia beach in Lagos this 5-star hotel offers a spa and an outdoor pool with panoramic ocean views.
6.5 Good
Pros: The rooms are new, clean and comfortable including a bathtub (not an easy find in Lagos). There were significant vegetarian options for my wife at dinner and breakfast. Good live music entertainment at night.
Cons: If you are paying over $200/night it seems like an excessive price for the place since it is run more like a 3-3.5 than 4 or 5 star hotel. Some of the hotel is run down. There is a general lack of information about what to do and how to move around to and from Lagos. Staff could have been more helpful. Pool is cold which is a problem since the ocean in Lagos is numbingly cold even in the middle of July (colder than the coasts of Mexico, Brazil, the Mediterranean, beaches in SE Asia, etc). It seems like a minor thing but given the windy weather even when the town is hot, it was surprising to find very cold pools for the price paid.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel with great management. Everyone is friendly and goes out of their way to better serve you. They upgraded us upon arrival to a master suite. Hotel is close to the beach and has amazing pools
Cons: None

Overview Reviews
With a stay at this aparthotel in Lagos (Ameijeira), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Dona Ana Beach and Porto de Mos Beach. Featured amenities include a safe deposit box at the front desk and an elevator (lift).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Only 12 apartments so no rush for sun beds and virtually had the pool to ourselves.
Cons: The only let down, and it was a minor issue, the hob in the apartment didn’t work and was presented as such - there was no effort to repair or replace it or move us to another apartment with a working hob. Not a big deal as we are out every night, but hindered making breakfast or lunch.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, apartment very clean (like new) and cleaners in every morning....towels replaced as necessary if left in bath. Perfect pool..and not crowded.
Cons: Nothing really, but maybe another sofa (2seater) would give extra comfy seating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything: the staff, the room, the swimming pool, the breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The apartment and pool area was great. Quiet neighbourhood but close to city. Friendly staff. Good cleaning.
Cons: Nothing worth mentioning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, really friendly staff, quiet pool area.
Cons: Nothing, was a great stay and good value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Quiet and clean. Would highly recommend. Will definitely visit again if returning to Lagos.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Patricia greeted us with great kindness and desire to be helpful with dining and beach recommendations.
Cons: Unfortunately, our apartment had a terrible stench and the complex was full so there was nowhere else for us to stay the first night. Patricia brought us delicious sangria as an apology, but the stiff beds and smelly apartment made the place hard to stay in. One tip for the Giramar- you might want to note information online for your guests regarding the check-in procedure. I was wondering how we were supposed to check-in as our confirmation emails did not mention anything nor was there anything posted online. I did call when we arrived in Portugal and the staff said to just call 30 minutes before we would arrive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff are very nice, helpful and friendly
Cons: the location ist not really close to the beaches, but there is not the problem for us
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was spacious, comfortable and crystal clean. A balcony/terrace front and back and everything you could require is inside. Huge TV, washing machine.. the works. The pool area was beautiful, with a lovely little pool bar beside reception, with delicious cocktails for great value prices. Tonnes of free sunloungers always available. The staff were ever helpful, friendly and informative. Grocery shop 3 minutes walk away.
Cons: We were disappointed that we requested an upstairs apt but received downstairs, which basically had just a view of the wall. It's not apparent from photos that the apts are actually situated outside of the pool area, behind the pool wall. Location not fantastic, and apt located in a quiet residential area of town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. The rooms were great. Nice and quiet. Location was about 25 minutes walk from the bus station and 10-15 minutes from town it was nice and quiet.
7.7 Good
Pros: It was great especially considering the low price in the off season. Staff were very helpful.
7.7 Good
Pros: This was the best deal of our vacation. We had a large suite for 3 adults but it was big enough for 5. The facilities were excellent. We had 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, a living room and bathroom for 50 euros a night. There was a restaurant, and pool. It was a short distance from the downtown area and the beaches. Highly recommended!
7.0 Good
Pros: Excellent value. We had a 2 bedroom apartment and could not believe the price as it was so good. The facilities in the apt were great (big fridge, washing machine, VCR, kitchen) and it was roomy. All rooms look out onto the lovely pool. Yes, it's 3 star but I have never stayed in a better valued 3 star. Lovely atmosphere. A supermarket 2 minutes walk. It is a bit out of the Centro part but if you have a car or don't mind a stroll, it's not so far into town (about 15 mins). There are good restaurants around Giramir. Parking is free at Giramir. As I said, for a 3 star, I can't fault it. It was so clean. Great for a family of 4. Airconditioners were there (we didn't need them - October) in every room.
Cons: Pillows are a little lumpy. Remember your hairdryer (if you like one). Sofa bed needs attention if you need it.
6.7 Good
Pros: Very clean spacious apartment. excellent kitchen
Cons: No view at all from balcony because situated on ground floor. 1st floor apartment have views of pool.
7.0 Good
Pros: We visited Giramar during the "off season" in the month of October. The rates were unbelieveable at only 100euro for a two bedroom apartment for two nights. We reserved two apartments for 5 women. The apartment was very clean, and spacious. Once we figured out what direction to head in, the walk to the old section/downtown lagos was only a 15 minute walk. I would highly recommend this place to a friend!
Cons: Absolutely nothing. Would definitely stay here again for the value!!!
7.7 Good
Pros: The 2 bedroom apartment was completely new, very well equipped. There were 2 balconies, view to the swimming pool. It was amazing and very cheap.

Pros: We liked the breakfast with lots of fruit from Fernando's own garden. The owners are great hosts and make you feel very welcome. The staff is really very kind, they all enjoy their work and are very friendly. The rooms got cleaned very well daily. Airconditioning worked well, very nice pool with a wonderful view. From Odiaxere you get easily to all nice villages and lovely beaches to visit. Juan arranges all paperwork and he gave us several good advices about restaurants and things to visit. The place is very quiet, especially at night, which is fantastic. We will certainly come back!
Cons: -
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Monte Da Bravura Green Resort is an exceptional and wonderful property nested in a charming and luxurious garden. It is more than perfectly located in SouthWest Algarve a few miles away from Lagos so that you may conveniently enjoy beaches of the Western Costa Vicentina (beautiful natural beaches from Aljezur to Odeceixe) as well as the Southern part (Sagres to Lagos) of the Coast and the Monchique National Park / Silves. Breakfast is divine, and the host owners, Fernando and his wife, are very welcoming and will recommend you good places to visit and restaurants. I stayed there in August 2018 in one of the Duplex rooms with good equipment. A pool faces the magnificent Algarve landscape for a relaxing moment. I hope to come back once more maybe in June or September for hiking (August is a hot period during the day so that going to the beaches is a cooler option).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome late at night, under an intensely star-studded sky, with a thoughtful snack and fruit left for us in our apartment. In the morning, from our huge and comfortable upstairs bedroom, we looked out on rolling countryside with Lagos and the sea in the distance. Very friendly hosts - Fernando and Elisabete were so helpful and informative (and provided fresh fruits from their garden and orchard for breakfast). Convenient but isolated location nestled in the hills and within easy driving distance to local villages, the Atlantic coast, the tip of Portugal at São Vincente and, of course, Lagos. We would highly recommend Monte da Bravura. Thank you Fernando, Elisabete and your kind colleagues for making it such a memorable holiday.
Cons: Nothing
5.5 Okay
Pros: - Central location to various beaches, touristic sites - Beautiful view - For Breakfast lots of fresh fruit was served and good cakes, other than that it was hit and miss - Good information provided about nearby restaurants, nice beaches - Maids were friendly - Outside pools were very clean but cold water
Cons: - The place was run like a restaurant, people did not interact, hotel owner attended to each table during breakfast but because of the way the place is layed out there was no leasure talk, exchange of information among the guests, intercommunication - The room smelled after toilet, the glas shower door was broken and was about to fall out of the hinge at any moment, when I asked to have the glas shower door repaired, the irritated owner replaced it with a shower curtain he had cut out of plastic - The floors were dirty and I had to mop the bathroom and room (full of dust, hair, dead insects) - Tiles were broken on the bathroom walls - Sink drain got broken, could not use sink one day, was eventually fixed - Beds were hard and had plastic sheet underneath bed sheets, very uncomfortable to sleep, hardly any good night rest - Refrigerator motor was running non-stop and was loud - Electrical socket box behind refrigerator in which the TV/ refrigerator was plugged hung in the air, to operate the flimsy water boiler or micro wave the contraption had to be unplugged, safety was not given - The online description did not mention that one had to dispose the used toilet paper in a separate bucket, nor did it mention that the bed sheets are only replaced after 7 days - The use water from toilets/ showers/ ... was biologically recycled on site to water the house gardens in which the fruits, vegetables grew used for breakfast - Coffee served at breakfast tasted like instant coffee which other guests also complained about - Room had no kitchen as advertised only an old refrigerator with a water cooker and micro wave on top - TV was hung up so high, hard to see, did not operate correctly and one had to spend several minutes ever so often turning it of and on to be able to change channels - Game room was in sous terrain (old garage), billiard table was cornered in so that one could hardly play, table tennis rackets were torn and used up, only one ball was still whole
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owner who welcomed us warmly and helped us in case of any needs. What I also liked was that they do lots of things in order to be environmentally friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely perfect in every way! 2 beautiful pools with a view and an excellent breakfast with produce from the gardens. Fernando and his family were wonderful hosts. We will be back! Soon I hope!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean and charming room with a balcony on the second floor overlooking the pool and outdoor eating area. It was nice quiet place to come back to in the evening after traveling around Lagos and the Algarve. The included breakfast was the best we had in our two weeks in Portugal. I would definately return here.
Cons: It could have been closer to the ocean and other restaurants but we found a nice English pub within walking distance.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Magnificent breakfast. Super service
Cons: The sun umbrellas might be improved a little bit :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel close to the beach. Breakfast was wonderful buffet. Poolside was nice to relax and enjoy the evening with a drink.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, albeit quite crowded. The bed was very comfortable. I also very much enjoyed the huge bath tub in the room.
Cons: No matter what these hotels try to convince you, the bathroom should be in a separate room. There is no actual tennis court there - they said they have to drive you (and then you pay extra for it, as stated here, but not on their website)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms with a balcony and a small kitchen with all the appliances you need (we stayed in a studio). Excellent location if you enjoy walking, close to beautiful beaches (10 min walk) and not that far from the city centre (25 min walk). Good breakfast with a variety of foods and drinks. We honestly enjoyed everything.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was good. Kind of away from the town, but still within walking distance (it might be a mile away, but there is nowhere to park in the old town, so we walked to town). It is close to Pointa de Piedade. We opted to walk instead of drive because we were worried about parking, but we would have been okay driving. It is walk-able, but if it's hot, it's not too fun. One thing I didn't understand about Costa d'Oiro Ambiance Village is that it is a "village." Meaning that there are several locations near one another where you might be staying (I think they said there were 4 different properties in the area that they rent rooms from). We stayed in a grey house across the road from the main structure. Our room was very nice and newly updated. This house had it's own pool and a sauna too. For breakfast we walked to the main house/hotel. It's really close, so it wasn't a big deal. They have a large parking lot right next to the main hotel area. We never had a problem finding a space. The breakfast was a pretty large buffet. You can tell that they try to accommodate people from many different cultures and backgrounds. There shouldn't be a problem finding something that you will like. Our room also had a very large bathtub. The only issue is that it would probably take an hour to fill it with water. There is a separate shower.
Cons: I did not like the toilet room. It is surrounded by white glass. If you go in there at night, the light from the toilet room lights up the entire bedroom. There is basically no privacy in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is amazing, just 5 mins walking to Praia Dona Ana which is beautiful. The breakfast has a wide range of good choices
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The studio was comfortably outfitted with everything you'd need (including a corkscrew, it's surprising how many places miss that detail.) The bed was comfortable, the shower powerful, and perhaps best of all, it was a short walk to several beaches and a very good restaurant.
Cons: The restaurant menu at the property wasn't very extensive (though breakfast was spectacular!)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in one of the apartments and it was fantastic. Spotlessly clean, spacious and modern. The property had excellent facilities, and most of the days we were able to have 1 of the 3 pools to ourselves (even though the hotel was full). The breakfast was AMAZING, so much choice and always being topped up. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Couldn’t rate the place highly enough. Would recommend for couples.
Cons: The only slight negative is that it is around a 15 minute walk to the town, although that is hardly far!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We really liked the location. It’s outside of town a little but but close (walking distance) to two of the nicest beaches. The breakfast buffet was very good.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were excellent and very helpful - the hotel was lovely - very peaceful and quiet - great rooms and gardens.
Cons: The coffee was not great! Breakfast became a bit tedious by the 4th morning as it was the same every day - although beautifully presented and interesting!
5.0 Okay
Pros: great location with nice rooms
Cons: the staff! really no service and always a NO on request. Only time they woke up was when we took a simple terrace chair to the beach. Next day without informing the took € 500 from my creditcard. When i found out they told the chair was damaged! we inspected the chairs and of course nothing was damaged (check the pic). Their reply was they were not able to give back the money because the ‘manager’ wasn’t lifting his phone. (probable sleeping). Since this moment still no reply that the €500 will be send back. This place is a scam! a nice place ruined by a arrogant guy behind the desk who doesn’t know that costumers are paying his salary.. ruined our weekend!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great choice
Cons: Only got offered eggs on one day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: View (sea and garden), high quality room interior and equipment, huge and well maintained garden, exclusivity given limited number of rooms yet huge area (hotel, garden, pool), extremely nice staff

Pros: Sara was an amazing hostess and made us feel welcome and comfortable for our stay in Lagos! She is so friendly and makes sure you have everything you need. The facilities are extremely clean and comfortable. The location is walkable to the beach and many restaurants the town has to offer. We loved our stay at Casa a Sul!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: Parking and bathroom description should be clearer
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean facilities, friendly staff and a good kitchen.
Cons: It's far up the hill and high into the old town. Quite a walk if you're on foot with bags. Uber may work better. At night, it's extremely loud even into the early hours of the morning when drunks are coming home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was spot on as it was walking distance to everything one needs. The guesthouse is neat, clean and the owner Sara made us feel really welcome. If we return to Lagos we will without a doubt stay at Casa u Sul again.
Cons: Nothing can be done about this, but the seagulls were really noisy. Lol
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The position is perfect being just at the border of the centre and near a big parking (2 minutes away). The room and the bathroom are very spacious with plenty of space for a week stay or more. Our terrace had an hammock which is very relaxing. The possibility to use the common kitchen was very apprecciated, and we could have nice breakfasts on the terrace. Sara is a really nice and helpful host and allowed us to borrow a couple of beach towels and umbrella.
Cons: If we really have to find something we didn't like it would be that one day the room wasn't made up. Our terrace unfortunately (or luckily depending who you ask to) didn't get any sun.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sara was a great hostess! I highly recommend her hotel. The coffee around the corner from her casa is very good. The public parking is also around the opposite corner and free.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect for Lagos! Close to the town, beaches, everything! Sarah was very accommodating and gave us plenty of local recommendations!
Cons: WiFi was very spotty on the first floor (where our room was located). Also parking was a bit challenging the first day. There is a free lot on the outside of the old walls which is close to the apartment however

Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Sara the host was amazingly helpful, generous and welcoming going out of her way to make us all feel like part of the family. Great location, free parking 1min away if you’re driving.
Cons: Due to the location it people outside could be heard at night but this is to be expected in a central location anywhere. Certainly wouldn’t put us off returning.

Pros: New and modern, great location
5.5 Okay
Pros: Staff was very friendly
Cons: Very mass market. Dining room smelly. Bathrooms lack freshness.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel amenities including good breakfast and very large pool. Large and clean rooms. Large and free parking area
Cons: Front desk staff should be more welcoming and more capable. Help should be provided to carry luggages to rooms at such a quality hotel. Not walking distance to Lagos downtown maybe a free shuttle could be nice.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast, but crowdy (you should come to breakfast before 9:30). Nice and clean rooms, big pool, pizzeria by the pool is also a good option for having lunch for good price.
Cons: There is now privacy on the balcony, the neighbour is one step away separated only with low glass fence. People on the pool occupied beds for a whole day even they wasn't there.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, just 5 mins walk to Lagos Marina and a 30 second walk from Meia Praia Beach. Stunning modern design hotel with friendly helpful staff. pool area and gym are great.
Cons: Breakfast was a very poor selection of foods. Average quality, not terrible but for the price I paid I was expecting a lot more. Little things like bottled water not being cool, just one fruit on offer etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing food, nice stuff
5.8 Okay
Pros: The on-site swimming pool
Cons: The customer service received was poor as payment for my reservation was deducted twice by staff and this was not properly resolved whilst at the hotel and repayment has not yet been made as of a week of checking out of the hotel and even though I received confirmation that this would be paid within three days of checking out the hotel also. Please take care when paying the property to avoid being double charged and not being repaid for the double payment. Also there were no double beds available unless paying for a family suit so sleeping was uncomfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the Hotel is the best, we found some free places at the pool every time we wanted to stay there. Everyday were some kind of entertainment activities by the pool for everyone who wanted to participate. Scooba diving lessons for free also were included by the pool. Music and a good atmosphere were also a pro. The room was very comfortable and clean, fresh towels every day and balcony with a great view. The staff was also very friendly and nice. A lot of parking spaces in the yard. As for the breakfast, there was a lot of fresh food, pancakes, eggs, coffee and espresso, everything fine, I would definitely recommend it.
Cons: Nothing.

Occupying a central location in the Algarve city of Lagos, it’s close to the marina and old town, where you can walk down narrow cobbled streets dotted with ancient churches and alfresco cafes. 9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was a great location and staff were excellent
Cons: A little bit dated but very clean
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was spacious and airy. Our room was clean and the bed was super comfortable. The breakfast was better than I expected, they had a hot bar, vegetables, juices and decent coffee - I was happy to see not only carb options. They also had an outdoor and indoor pool, as well as a small gym and steam and sauna room. We didn't use any of the pools, as we enjoy the beach a lot more, but I saw lots of families use them, I'm sure this is great for children.
Cons: Although the location was central to town, and it was great to be able to walk to local shops and restaurants, it was a bit of ways walk (roughly 30-45 mins walk, depending on which beach you go to). Thankfully we had a car, and this made it ease to access beaches quicker. We did use the gym and my partner used the sauna. The gym was minimal, with a few cardio machines and some weights, we didn't expect more than this. In order to use the sauna, you had to let the front desk staff know, so that they would turn it on, and the ideal temperature would be about 30 minute weight time. My partner also found a mouse in there on the last day of our stay - this made us wonder how clean the facilities were.
4.5 Okay
