Pros:I loved that this inn was a little out of the way. The view from our room was very serene. Awesome place for an great price.
Pros:It was a cute little hotel. I'd come back cause there wasn't anything so bad that we wouldn't go back. Also was a straight shot into town maybe a 10 or 15 min drive
Cons:Room was very small, and smelled like cigarette smoke even though you are not allowed to smoke in the rooms. Wifi was horrid only one bar of WiFi and it constantly was kicking you off makes it hard to plan your day if you Ned wifi
Pros:Skip the chain hotels clustered on I-94 and head a few miles south of the action to find this gem, which is located in the beautiful countryside south of Michigan City. I had an hour long conversation with the manager on marine molecular biology (I am a marine biologist interested in molecular biology) as he was a science writer. Super interesting guy (Don)! The other thing I liked was that, although I booked through Kayak, the hotel directly emailed me to confirm. I always wonder if my reservation will be botched, so I like the extra effort of the hotel reconfirming with me.
Cons:The room could have been cleaner, and there was no shampoo (albeit there was body wash). Although I like this place and recommend it, I feel it should be more of a $55-60/night kind of place, not the $71 that I paid. Still, I would stay there again, as the "back yard" is gorgeous!
Pros:I loved the price of the room and the location. You are away from a lot of the traffic of town. The linens were clean and there were a couple bottles of water for free in the mini fridge. Beds are comfy and not very loud. The man in the office was very kind and talkative. Great staff/owners.
Cons:The highway noise can be loud if you have a room near the front. The room smelled like dogs/animals, but this was expected since it is a pet friendly motel. The space under the nightstand was pretty dirty.
Pros:The rooms were clean and aesthetic. Nothing fancy but everything you need including a fridge and microwave. The price was so low I was expecting something far less modern.
Cons:They could use an upgrade on mattresses, but for the price, it was good enough.
Pros:The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I only stayed one night but it was a place I would have been comfortable at for several days if needed.
Pros:The manager was very pleasant and accomodating. The motel is sandwiched between two freeways, but its immediate vicinity is very green, with large trees, a lawn with fireflies at night, and so on. The room was very small, but a little like a ship, in that furniture had been fitted in very ingeniously to the available space. There is not a lot of room to unpack if you are staying for more than a night or two. The bathroom was very clean, and had large soft orange towels, which was pleasant and fun after the usual run of white, wornout towels you expect in a room that costs $56 a night. The floor of our room was part ceramic tile (entry and bathroom) and part wood, so much easier to keep clean than most horrible motel carpets. The window opened. The lighting was adequate. There was plenty of hot water, but the water was sulphurous. The motel supplied some bottled water for drinking. The fridge actually had a freezer, so we could refreeze our blue ice and didn't have to go buy regular ice. There was also a microwave. The bed creaked, but was very comfortable.
Cons:Shower drain was very, very slow, so you ended up standing ankle-deep in water by the end. Screen on door to the outside was torn, which we stupidly didn't notice, so we let in a lot of mosquitoes while enjoying the cool night air. For the price, I wouldn't say I didn't like this, but there is no coffeemaker, no mugs or glasses or dishes, though there is a microwave. You'll want to bring your own mugs or bowls and utensils if you want to use the microwave.
