7.4 Good
Pros: Location is very convenient. It is across the road from the Apsley station connecting to Midland trains.
Cons: The bathroom sink was not draining properly. Despite being there for 2 nights, the maintenance had not rectified the problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very good. Quiet and safe neighborhood with dining establishments within walking distance. The Apsley train station is just across the street for an easy commute into London (approx 30 minutes). The rooms are a good size, the staff is friendly and the breakfast was varied and delicious.
Cons: We were lucky that this was a quiet time of year and there was parking available in the rear of the hotel (free). This could be difficult in the high season, but this was the only "possible" negative.
5.0 Okay
Cons: I paid full price and I know in the current situation it's difficult but to be offered a banana or muffins for breakfast I think is very disappointing and I will think again before both booking a holiday inn or using bookings. Com as it did advertise breakfast included.
7.0 Good
Pros: Always clean tidy here and the staff always accommodate me booking in early if they have rooms available
Cons: On this occasion there was a slight mix up on arrival with my early check in as the room I was allocated was not completely ready but the staff reallocated me a new room immediately.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Pub over the road was handy for meals
Cons: Room was a bit small for a family room
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean room and bathroom, and excellent breakfast.
Cons: Not a fan of the pillow system, would have preferred two soft pillows.
Aubrey Park Hotel - Hemel Hempstead - Building

7.8 Good (2,154 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in St Albans, Aubrey Park is a 3-minute drive from Hertfordshire County Showground and 7 minutes from The Snow Centre. Featured amenities include a business center, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room
Cons: The location of the room was very far to walk from the entrance
4.0 Okay
Pros: Gardens were lovely, shower was nice and bathroom clean. Entrance tot the property was nice and grand Food was quick and efficient and hot
Cons: the entrance upon arrival was nice and it looked 4* from the outset. However the hotel is really tired and dated, the carpets in the corridor are worn, stained and dirty, the rooms feel cheap and not designed well, for example the dressing table seat is to the left and the mirror is to the right of the desk. It just doesn't feel luxury compared to other 4* hotels we've stayed in. The staff we came into contact with we're particularly friendly, the receptionist was talking about the impact on the corona virus, but from being in hospitality you have to stay positive and professional although i'm not saying don't mention it but she went on and on. Other staff we walked past weren't particularly friendly e.g. walked past reception in the morning, no "good morning" also some other staff were entering the building as we were leaving and didn't hold the door open and came in first, to me that's a basic rule of hospitality. We ate in the empty bar the night before, my wife had the halloumi ceaser salad (£16 i think), nice but way over priced. I had the trio of tapas for £12, wings were delicious, Pitta and dips you only had 2 tsp of dip, not enough for the pitta and the salt and pepper squid seemed to be the bagged frozen stuff (not surprised but not 4* in my opinion) All in all just disappointing, needs a £m refurb which i'm sure the owners don't want to invest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was friendly and helpful. Extra care taken with Coronavirus.
Cons: All was good
6.7 Good
Pros: Very enjoyable dinner on our first night (apart from coffee!) Friendly staff Comfortable bed Clean room
Cons: Dreadful coffee (at both dinner and breakfast) Very disappointing breakfast Limited choice in bar - no real ale, no gluten free beer Building looking a bit "tired" at the back
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff were lovely
Cons: I found the room very dusty Gritty bits on the carpet in my room The hallways looked dirty Wasnt enammered with the cooked breakfast
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the location, the room the peaceful atmosphere.
Cons: I wasnt impressed with the food portions, after having a meal for 2, was still hungry and then had to leave the premises and travel St Albans to get a good meal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nicely tucked away plenty of space Catered for our dogs, even had 2 beds for them and treats Good service

1.0 Poor
Cons: We arrived Friday late afternoon and decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, the food wasnt great and we spent most of it picking the bones out of the fish, they also served our drinks with filthy glasses (one of which had food stuck in it). We were also told we'd have room keeping everyday, we were there for 3 days and didnt see anyone, we werent given clean towels, toilet rolls or a top up of tea/coffee etc. Luckily enough, as we were a family of 4 i took my own toilet roll also, especially due to the current situation with coronavirus and cleanliness. We stayed in a travel lodge on our last visit and thought we'd splash out this time as the holiday inn had a pool etc. But think next time we'll stick with the travel lodge, alot cleaner and better value for money.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was comfy. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom but this was sorted out in about 15 minutes after we informed the desk. Breakfast was plentiful.

7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely breakfast and HUGE room with beautiful comfy king size bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was gorgeous and the staff was really amazing. We had to book last minute as our European vacation to celebrate our 25th anniversary was cut short due to COVID19. They upgraded us from the very nice room we had booked to a room in the Old Manor that overlooked the gardens. If we ever find ourselves in the UK again, we will definitely book another stay!
7.0 Good
Pros: The bed and shower
Cons: Nothing else
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and welcoming, staff were excellent
Cons: Only bad thing that I can really say was about the beds, two single beds pushed together left and hard centre to the bed and was a little uncomfortable, but other than that the room was excellent.
6.0 Good
Pros: Room service was nice, but staff was not wearing gloves considering the Coronavirus. Late checkout was appreciated.
Cons: Could not get through to reception to request more toast .. and bacon was quite fatty. Hotel was scarce and staff was obviously affected by the virus pandemic. Felt like a ghost town!..

Cons: Room door lead directly outside to the car park area
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, friendly staff and a lovely breakfast
Cons: Quite satisfied, nothing to dislike
6.0 Good
Pros: The bedding was clean and breakfast was nice. I would suggest they invest in a coffee machine to do latte and cappuccino. They were trying to accommodate but didn't speak English so loads of smiles and nods but we were none the wiser. The manager gave us a deal on breakfast
Cons: The fact we couldn't order food for lunch anywhere in the hotel when the menu clearly stated 24 hour room service and afternoon tea 1pm to 5pm. Then when we queried dinner as we were going to a party. The manager said he would call the chef in early. It was weird. The receptionist didn't know how to serve in the bar. So in the end I just got my daughter a drink it was to much effort, then gave her a bottle with the top still on. We walked across the road for a coffee and lunch. The bed dipped so me and daughter ended up in the middle of the bed during the night. There was someone shaving left in the bathroom. Other than that it was ok

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: Comfy bed
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The hotel was disgusting. The hallways smelt of cannabis, the rooms had mould and cob webs. I can't believe people pay to stay at this hotel.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The location
Cons: The fact homeless where housed in the hotel and I wasn't told before the booking as I wouldn't of paid 90 pounds to sleep in the same hotel as homeless alcoholics making noises all the time
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very close to bus stop coming from airport. So close that i actually walked past it at first and had to come back.
Cons: Doesn't have the fun factor of being a capsule hotel, but in a windowless room has some of the drawbacks.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: I asked the receptionist to give me a room far from the reception and he didn’t. I did not get one wink of sleep as staff and guests were running up and down from night going into the morning shouting and laughing up and down the corridor. The hygiene in the room was disgusting. Hairs on all the bedding, dark handprint stains on the walls and the headboard had not been cleaned in god knows how long. I had only been in the bed for a few minutes before my body started to itch. Absolutely horrible hotel and I only stayed for one night. I can’t imagine if it was a long term stay. Definitely will not be back there again.

1.0 Poor
Pros: The location is good, very near to Luton airport.
Cons: The room was not clean and the bathroom was very dirty! The staff is very rude and unprofessional. The hotel is very run down and overpriced. Not even close to a three star hotel! Poor facilities and very very dirty.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Its a budget hotel and I knew that. As budget hotels go, its pretty good. Easy in and out, functional. Its seen better days and there are issues, but its mean to moan when the price is great. Perfectly nice night's sleep. Recommended, as budget hotels go.
Cons: First time I've had an air conditioner in this hotel so that was great, but it sounded like an aircraft taking off. Very worn and tatty, room smelt of cigarettes, but comfortable enough and everything worked.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The lovely helpful barman who was the only friendly face insaw who was able to explain to the strangers that I was a keyworker and normally a regular customer
Cons: Last night I was shocked - I stay at the Chiltern regularly and have done weekly for a year because it is close to my work. I haven't stayed for a month as the prices have doubled and trebled at times so commute home normally. I am a keyworker and manage a large nursing home - I booked on booking.com for just over 45.00 for a room and had paid already. When I arrived at the property I was questioned by a new set of staff who said that as I was not a keyworker they would charge me another ten pounds for my stay on top of what I had paid. I managed to prove I was a keyworker but stated that under no circumstances would I pay more anyway - they told me that due to covid their rooms were in high demand. I sat in the hotel as I normally do watching people in the bar area huddled together drinking and quite loud and was told by a member of staff that they were homeless but that the hotel was being paid well for keeping them there during the outbreak. While I appreciate people need somewhere to stay, I did not appreciate the unfriendly welcome from the staff and the inflated prices, and their 'extra' on top of what I had paid to booking.com - shame on you Chiltern Hotel - your premises are shabby, your normal staff are wonderful - however I would not recommend this hotel to anyone ....... A normally regular, and very disgruntled customer Belinda
6.0 Good
Pros: Reasonable price and location.
Cons: Bed is old and needs a new mattress. Paint peeling. General look of a lot of wear and tear. Sinks have no plugs (annoying) and often seem to block up. (Has happened on three visits.) Nothing terrible, just needs some TLC.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice hotel
Cons: I didn’t like that when I checked in I had to pay more money to match their on computer price ...never heard of that before ..if you book on line then that’s it ..not pay more when u arrive ...can you let me know if this is legal
5.3 Okay
Pros: Convenient location.
Cons: The heating was not working and the room/bathroom was tired and shabby.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The staff where helpfull first providing a very small electric heater and then moving me to another room upon request.
Cons: The first room had no heating, and on one of the coldest days of the year. The second room was warm but full of old broken furniture. With a bed the size of a large single definately not a double.

Pros: The hotel was very close to the motorway and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: No, the hotel was very good.
6.5 Good
Pros: The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Inexpensive.

Cons: Nada.
6.0 Good
Pros: Central location. Easy reach for city center and airport. On a bus route from the Luton airport
Cons: The room was very small for a three person room. I would say it was only really a larger single room or a small double. Three .. was a very snug fit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was only an 18 minute walk to the airport, however, a local bus pulled up at the bus stop outside the hotel just as I was leaving, so I hopped on paid less than £2 to be dropped at the door of the airport. Most importantly the place was quiet and I got a good night's sleep unlike when I stayed at a cheap hotel in the city centre.
Cons: No food options in the evening except for a vending machines, but for this price, I wasn't expecting any.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Just that we managed things like toilet roll etc. No kettle in room but I know it is because it is budget hotel. Nice stay

Cons: not a good bed
7.0 Good
Cons: Crowded breakfast room. No fresh fruit for breakfast.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was quiet, being a few minutes' walk from the airport terminal. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Room wasn't so clean - I wiped it down with alco-wipes, due to Covid-19, but even without this situation, it could have been cleaner!
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Not a lot, lacked in almost every area
8.0 Excellent
Pros: location staff facilities support from staff
Cons: toilet sink was blocked
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close walk to the airport. Breakfast in the morning was good.
Cons: We did not know that you had to put keycard into the wall to power up the room. We were tired and laughed it off though.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is very good, the closest hotel to the airport. The rooms are relatively small but comfortable. Very good sound insulation.
Cons: Breakfast is good but relatively poor. Very often there is a lack of food and one has to wait for someone to bring. The continental breakfast, which starts very early in the morning is terrible, there is almost nothing! The staff is relatively polite but few in number. The man at the reception is also a bartender, which is unacceptable. We had booked a room with two single beds, and they gave us one big, we had to ask for a change of reception.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, staff and cleanliness!
Cons: No
6.5 Good
Pros: Advantages: +very good location +nice facilities +relatively spacious room
Cons: Disadvantages: -staff misinformed us about time needed to get to the airport and we were rushing out at 04:00 in the morning without having possibility of taking breakfast which we have paid for. Too much focus is paid to shuttle bus connection when in fact it takes 5 minutes to go to the airport. We were 2.5 hours before our flight when we could have had breakfast in easy and relaxed way. Bad information from reception staff!

7.4 Good
Pros: Location is very convenient.
