I did not get the rental that I reserved, and instead the car I got had a more cramped cabin with less features than I wanted. The pickup and dropoff location was also changed from the airport to a location 20 minutes away. Since Hertz did not have a shuttle, I had to pay for a Lyft both ways.

Even though I dropped it off early, they didn't check my car back in until a day later and are charging me extra rental and late fees. Their customer service is terrible. I will have to do a credit card charge back most likely.

There were no cars available despite confirmed and pre-registered reservations. Just a big line of about 20 people at midnight all being told they had to wait for returns to come in before they could get a car.

Tried to give me an electric car, reservation was for a 500 mile one way trip…. I needed a gasoline because I right gave hours to charge this car. They charged me an extra 100 dollars for this “upgrade”

Our car was filthy. It still had garbage in between the seat and in the compartment between the seat. Cups and bottles. There was white stuff smeared all over the front console.

The car broke down and the emergency road assistance took 4 hours to pick up the car and more 1.5 hours to get replacement with Avis Whole business day lost and couldn’t make it to meeting . No compensation given no apologies expressed

Cons:

Estimated total. Total everywhere on kayak for $387 when I left it was $410. A surprise $23 fee out of no where and Avis wouldn’t change it for the total I quoted

Cons:

Car was filthy on the inside when I picked it up, I informed the employee. Also I was at the gas station for 20 minutes and couldn’t figure out how to open the gas cap, very frustrating and more expensive then needed

Was not able to pick up a rental car after getting into Austin because my flight was delayed. No arrangement was made. Had to spend money on two different Lyft rides in order to be able to pick up the car the next day. Very disappointed. Really left me in a lurch. What is the point of having a rental car if you need to use Lyft anyway? Overall, terrible experience. I will probably not use dollar again for business or personal trips

Never was able to acquire rental car in the chaos of the eclipse. I booked several weeks in advance. They dont offer afterhours pickup. And we're closed on Sunday. Turo is gonna beat all the rental car businesses.
