Pros: The hotel was close to downtown Blue Ridge, not quite walking distance but good enough to be considered conveniently located. The location was also close to stores and restaurants. The staff was reasonably friendly and helpful.
Cons: The bed sheets on one of the two queen beds were torn. The room was very, very dirty. After one hour of moving around in the room, the bottom of my socks were black, filthy. There was old dried food on the bathroom door. There was food waste and dust on the floor at the foot of the beds and around the table. The table was missing trim, the tv had dirt smeared on the screen. There was a very strong powdery, cloyingly sweet, scent in the room that even after four days (with the windows and doors wide open for hours) had not dissipated. There wasn’t a safe in the room, which meant we had to store our valuables in the trunk of our car (work laptops, iPads, etc.). The dresser top was tacky to the touch. The breakfast bar had aged and bruised fruit, dry cereal, small yogurt cups, no milk (we had to ask for it, or go without eating the cereal), a few packaged muffins, and nothing warm to eat.
