Many of the roads in small towns like Alcúdia are narrow, so choosing a bigger or wider car hire in Alcúdia will make it harder to navigate the streets and even harder to find parking. All car companies at the airport offer a wide range of compact models to choose from, most of which are fuel efficient and easy to drive. When driving on the mountain roads, be aware of steep drops and the lack of barricades, these are easy to spot if you're driving slower.

The speed limit in the area is the same throughout Mallorca and you'll need to be aware of them wherever you drive your car hire. If you're on a dual carriageway or motorway, the speed limit will be 120 km/h. The open roads on the outskirts and away from built-up areas have a speed limit of 90 km/h, while the built-up areas inside the towns and villages are limited to 30 km/h. Remember to stick to these even when others are driving faster.

There is plenty of on-street parking in Alcúdia that's both paid and free, as well as free and paid parking lots. If you're parking near the centre of the town, you're likely to be parking in paid parking. You can pay for paid parking easily by downloading the local ElParking app on your mobile device. Close to the beach and in the outer sections of the town, most of the parking is free.
