I didn’t enjoy my experience with Green motion and will never ever again go with them. In the morning I was refuse the rental because my printed paperless bank statement was without stamp. And when returned later I was told they are closed, but if I pay extra £36 they will give me a carThe staff at the London city airport office are so rude, unprofessional and unpolite.

Staff member was really friendly and helpful. Car was great. Really good experience overallThe waiting time to pick up the car was ridiculous. We set off an hour and a half later than planned. I'm just glad it wasn't too cold or raining as there wasn't room for everyone to wait inside.

Mis-leading reservationNot applicableThis is a a hire I had to cancel at the pick-up desk along with several people alongside me which nearly ruined all my families New Year's plans. I had read the statement on several emails as to what documentation was required for hire & was satisfied that I had covered criteria. However when I was told I had to produce a passport I was guided to about 5 pages down on an extra link within the agreement. This page even stipulates you must have proof of National Insurance with you.Two people next to me had passports, & even this was not being excepted without bank statements to support. This means I am not even due any refund. I also noticed only just before arriving that the excess on the vehicle was £1205 which is £5 over my credit card limit which means even though I had covered myself with 3rd party cover I would have been forced to reduce the excess with green motion at a rate of £26pd which on a 6 day rental would have been £156.

Car hire excess insurance in Barking

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) & Theft Protection Waiver

Collision damage waiver and theft protection are insurance options that cover renters from paying high penalty fees if the car is stolen or returned damaged. Some Barking car providers already include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection Waiver into the rental price but not all of them. We recommend always be aware of your coverage when renting a car in in Barking.

Deductible

Keep in mind that car hire excess insurances often have a deductible clause, which is the amount you’ll have to pay if something happens during the time of your rental. If you want to avoid unwanted surprises, you should consider adding a no-deductible option to your Barking car rental.

Top tips for renting a car in Barking

  • Gain the freedom and flexibility to explore the bustling East London district of Barking and its surrounding areas by hiring a car. Car hire in Barking allows you to say goodbye to the complex underground tube system and spend your time there the way you want to. The sights of central London, like Buckingham Palace and Oxford Street, are just a short drive away, and a hire car makes day trips far more accessible. The charming coastal town of Southend-on-Sea can be reached in under an hour and the sights of historic Cambridge are only 55 miles away.
  • London City Airport is 2.5 miles from Barking and has a number of car hire centres to choose from, so you should have no problem finding the right vehicle for you. Avis, Hertz and Europcar are all located right outside the main terminal building. They’re easily accessible by foot and offer an extensive choice of quality cars. Likewise, you can pick up your Barking car hire from London Gatwick’s North Terminal, Heathrow’s T5 and T2-4 and the London Stanstead car hire village. All are located within a 35-minute drive of Barking via the M25.
  • Being a district of the UK capital, there can be a lot of traffic in Barking, including buses and taxis eager to take up the road. You’ll also have to keep an eye out for cyclists, who tend to ride fast whilst weaving in and out of traffic. Roads can be complex with many different lanes, so you’ll need to be alert during busy periods. Navigation systems are available to add to your car hire in Barking to help make life on the road that little bit easier. It’s also worth bearing in mind that speed limits change regularly, and cameras are common in built up areas like Barking.
  • Barking is a popular place to live for commuters who travel in and out of Central London for work. This can mean that roads are busy at any time, day or night. Generally speaking, roads are especially busy at rush hour - from 7:00–10:00 and 17:00–20:00. It’s also common for families with young children to be making the school run from 8:30–9:00 and 15:30–16:00. You might want to allow some extra time in your schedule if you’re travelling during these hours, especially if you’re coming in off the M25, which is often congested at peak times.
