So I was nervous that the reservation did not truly exist. It did, but without some confirmation, it was difficult. Pros: Nothing.Cons: I rented a convertible to drive away from my wedding to our reception. They called me 10 minutes before pickup and said “whoever rented the convertible didn’t bring it back last night.” Upon calling them a second time and speaking to another representative, he informed me they never have convertibles, so whoever spoke to me the first time lied to me. Then he told me they couldn’t help me find the convertible at another local Enterprise and that they wouldn’t honor my Kayak prices. I spent over an hour ON MY WEDDING DAY on hold and talking to various clueless, helpless, hand-wringing local and corporate Enterprise employees. Long story short, we had to rent a convertible from Alamo and they were *AWESOME*, but it ended up being triple the price. Stay away from Enterprise. They’re hapless.

Vehicle was very clean and well outfitted.Cons: Due to Covid the rental offices of a number of rental agencies had been combined to a central location, a fact that was not relayed to myself or many renters as there was lots of confusion with folks picking up and dropping off vehicles. People should be advised to call their rental provider for updated information on new operating system.

Pros: Staff were patient and pleasant.Cons: The car was absolutely filthy inside and out. Apparently they did not have the staff to clean it. The interior was so bad I cleaned it myself that afternoon - smell, everything was covered in accumulated grime; the steering wheel was actually sticky (cloths used to clean came out black). Rented a premium model and it was at least 3/4 years old with dents and scratches. Also it was the lowest type of model in that category. Overall I was very disappointed with Hertz as it should be a premium rental agency. Will not use again as have had far better experience with ‘lower tier’ rental agencies

Pros: Vehicles were in great condition and staff at final destination finally made our rental satisfactory but getting there with three other rental locations was miserable!Cons: Went to airport location to rent vehicles (2 mini vans - we had 4 kids under 5 who had just flown for 4 hours) - told our rental was at a different location and would have to go back to airport and take a cab there, even though it was just 5 minutes away. Shuttle driver who was taking us back to airport told us that there had not been taxi’s at Raleigh/Durham airport for about 2 years - we would have take a Lyft. Lyft got there and took us to booked location, only to find it had been closed for over a year...it was a body shop, and the very helpful people there told us this happens all the time and that there were phone numbers listed on their now closed office door and we would have to call one of them. Called first one and they would be there in 30 minutes (30 minutes back to their shop to get cars so another hour out of our day). Called second one - said they were closer but only had one mini van. Third location was very rude, laughed and said they were not interested in helping us and to call the first location. Finally got picked up to get to rental location. Great help there - asked if these Hertz locations were independently owned (franchises) and was told no - Hertz owns them all. Asked if the location we booked through was closed why the airport location couldn’t help us and was told they could have. Great service at this rental location, she deducted our Lyft fee and got us on the road in about an hour. If it weren’t for the rental location we finally ended up at, this would have been a total disaster and Hertz would never receive my business again. KAYAK...you need to remove our initial rental location from your list of rental locations.

Pros: I requested an airport car rental, they booked my car for an off-airport location (30 mins away). I would be required to take a $60 taxi (each way) to the alternate location which would not even be open for another 2 hours (which was after the reservation time was booked for). I sat on the phone for almost 2 hours trying to get it corrected. No one was of any assistance, they just kept finger pointing at each other (Hertz & Priceline). Finally someone said they could fix it and came back to let me know that they would simply need to cancel my original reservation and just rebook a new one. That sounded reasonable, until she came back and said that my $160 reservation would now be $589!!Cons: EVERYTHING!! Be very careful when booking with hertz, they are scam artists. You may be booked off-airport without your knowledge and there is nothing on your confirmation that may even slightly indicate that.

Cons: The Hertz rental car location was closed on Saturday which left us in Raleigh with no means of transportation. Kayak should NOT advertise car rental availability at closed locations. We arrived on the date and time that was on the reservation. Please do your due diligence when offering availibility of cars that do not exist. If my cc is charged I will be reporting this as fraud. By the way we had our 82 year old mother with us which added to the extreme hardship of this situation. Also your questionnaire would not allow me to click on the choices.

Cons: The rental was ready when I arrived. They had to clean out the van and I was 1 hour late for leaving for my trip. In addition. The van had not been washed. There was bugs, bird poop and a lot of dust. Extremely disappointed.will not rent from the location again.

At 7PM the night before pick-up was scheduled I got a call from a budget representative telling me the car (no cars actually) was not available. Budget would make no effort to look for a car at a different location. Budget could not (or would not) provide telephone numbers for other locations or other rental companies. When I asked why Budget had waited until the evening before I was to pick up the car to tell me there was no car the rep simply stated that "your name was on a list I was given". Pros: Considering the conditions of COVID, the young lady was very helpful and checked me in quickly and when I returned the car the same girl waited on me again and made my car return and easy transitionCons: The location in the mall is horrible, bad parking and hard to find. I drove around the mall twice before I was able to find the location of Budget. Also when I got in the car, it was clean, however the car had a strong marijuana odor. I did report this to the clerk at the counter, she made note of it. But because of the timing and the lack of cars available I went ahead and took the car anyhow. But it was unpleasant to drive a car with that odor when you are a non user and a non smoker.

Pros: The car got me from point A to point B comfortably.Cons: The car didn't have rims and was dirty when I picked it up. No attendant at pickup location, waited for 30 minutes before the attendant arrived. Attendant at drop off had me stand outside in the rain while he remarked about the condition of the car.

Avis and Priceline both blamed each other when a $50 no-show fee was assessed and neither would take responsibility for assessing or removing it. Priceline did the same thing on another future rental so we cancelled it. We will no longer use Kayak for rental cars.

Pros: Both gals who helped me with pick up and then drop off were super.Cons: The pick up at the Raleigh NC mall 5 days before Christmas was very chaotic. I couldn't find the car once I had the keys, and the woman working was all alone so couldn't leave the desk inside the mall to help me find it. That was very time consuming and took much longer than it should have. Having dedicated and labeled Avis spots in the mall parking lot are a necessity, especially if Avis isn't going to hire extra help. She had to leave her post and help me find the car. She didn't know where it was either in the chaos of a mall parking lot before Christmas.

Pros: I like how Avis stretched the definition of a "midsize" booking to include a Nissan Sentra. That's very creative.Cons: Leave lots of extra time to drop a car at the Wilmington (NC) airport. You have to find a parking space, unload your belongings, walk into the airport, and wait at the rental counter. And all of that counts against your return time. If that makes you "late" to return your car, it's an extra $30-50.
