The Greenbriar Inn is a newly renovated boutique hotel near Coeur d’Alene’s best sights. Situated just four blocks from the city centre and the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene, this is one of the best hotels in Couer d’Alene for location.

Featured on the National Registry of Historic Places, the inn is decorated with elegant furnishings and local antiques. My favourite room has to be the Ballroom Suite, which has a claw-foot tub.

What I like most about this hotel is that the suites here all have pristine views of the lake. Additionally, all guests at the Greenbriar Inn receive a complimentary gift card for the on-site restaurant, 315 Cuisine – a must-visit in my books.

The Roosevelt Inn is a historic bed and breakfast located in central Coeur d’Alene. There are plenty of great amenities on offer here, including a 24-hour business centre, complimentary coffee and tea and free WiFi.

The Inn is well known in the area for its delicious included breakfast, which is served each morning. This is one of the best hotels in Couer d’Alene for families, as the B&B offers extra rollaway beds for little ones in the suites. Plus, the Inn is only eight minutes from the North Idaho Centennial Trail, which is a beautiful hiking area for nature lovers of all ages.

I loved relaxing in the on-site hot tub here, and spa services are offered on request. If you’re staying for a romantic getaway, couples can enjoy premium bedding, deep soak bathtubs and complimentary toiletries in the spa-like bathrooms.

Lake Village Lodge is one of the best hotels in Coeur d’Alene for year-round adventures. The lodge offers both Room Suites and spacious Lodge Suites, which are perfect for larger groups. The property has recently undergone an extensive renovation, remodelling the guestrooms – including cosy new beds.

The lodge’s proximity to the motorway entrance allows visitors to enjoy quick access to Coeur d'Alene Lake, the nearby river and a plethora of hiking trails that surround the Canfield Mountain Natural Area.

I also love the fact that Lake Village Lodge has its own on-site seasonal farmers’ market. Once a month from May to September, guests can indulge in a range of locally sourced produce, sample sweet treats and browse handmade crafts from vendors at this charming market. For me, that was a highlight of my trip.

Located in the heart of the city centre, One Lakeside is one of the best hotels in Coeur d’Alene for those who enjoy the finer things in life. I loved relaxing on the rooftop, which has a fire pit and hot tub. From up here you get sweeping vistas of the lake and the mountains – a view you can’t miss during your time in Coeur d’Alene (ideally at sunset).

Each of the guestrooms at One Lakeside also features mountain, city or lake views, in addition to flat-screen TVs, complimentary toiletries, free Wi-Fi and coffee machines. One Lakeside is also pet-friendly.

This property is just a two-minute walk from the Coeur d’Alene Convention and Visitor Center, where I recommend starting your trip. This is where I learned about all the local highlights and got my restaurant recommendations.

The La Quinta Inn & Suites Coeur d’Alene earned a Certificate of Excellence award for four consecutive years, cementing its status as one of the best hotels in Coeur d’Alene. The guestrooms here are clean and spacious, perfect for both business travellers and families.

In addition to comfortable beds and an entertainment system, the inn also offers a free Bright Side Breakfast, spa, fitness centre and an indoor pool.

Located just north of the historic city centre, the hotel offers easy access to the nearby ski mountains, lake and Silverwood Theme Park. Whether you’re travelling with children or are an adventure seeker yourself, don’t miss a visit to Timberline Adventures. The seven ziplines and sky bridges here have made this the area’s #1 outdoor adventure activity centre for the past eight years. It’s located about two miles from the hotel.

The historic North Idaho Inn is in a prime, supremely walkable location. It’s about 15 minutes away from the city’s top attractions, including Tubbs Hill Nature Trails, the Coeur d’Alene Resort and the resort’s golf course and spa, which many travellers visit during their time in northwest Idaho.

The rooms at the inn have been recently renovated with modern upgrades, including full-size memory foam mattresses on the beds. I especially loved this property’s keyless check-in process, so I could arrive on my own schedule.

If you’re an outdoor enthusiast visiting during the summer months, you can enjoy hiking on the Centennial Trail, Canfield Mountain or around the nearby lakefront. During the winter months, you can easily access four world-class ski resorts within 30 to 45 minutes, including Silver Mountain Resort and Lookout Pass.

This 4-star bed and breakfast is one of the best hotels in Coeur d’Alene for a home-away-from-home vibe. A tasty, complimentary breakfast is served here daily. The property is also located just over half a mile from the Coeur d’Alene lakefront and Sherman Ave, which was my favourite place to walk during my trip.

I highly recommend eating lunch at nearby Hudson’s Hamburgers, which has been open since 1907 and is so popular that there’s often a queue outside. The burgers are made in the “old-fashioned way” – with just cheese, pickles and onion – but they’re utterly delicious.

The Blackwell Hotel offers 10 chic guestrooms and a cosy lobby area with a fireplace. It’s also hugely popular for wedding services. With its elegant surroundings and romantic ambience, this is one of the best hotels in Coeur d’Alene for couples.

With its 13 themed rooms, the Flamingo Motel is a property like no other. Considered one of the best hotels in Coeur d’Alene due to its longstanding reputation in the city, this spot is ideal for both families and couples.

The hotel has been hosting guests from around the world since 1954. Its diverse array of themed rooms – including a cosy country cottage, a golf course-themed suite and a lighthouse-inspired room – make this one of the most unique hotels in Coeur d’Alene.

There are also a couple of two-bedroom options for families, themed after a cabin in the Pacific Northwest and the iconic Route 66. If you’re flying in for your visit, the nearest airport is Spokane International Airport, which is around a 40-minute drive from the Flamingo Motel.

This Hampton Inn & Suites is one of the best hotels in Coeur d’Alene for those who want to be based near I-90, offering easy access to all of the area’s top attractions. Located on the edge of the Spokane River, this area offers access to the lake, waterfront outdoor amphitheatre and dozens of water sports.

Don’t miss McEuen Park, which has a grassy lawn perfect for picnics and a trailhead to Tubbs Hill. There’s also a splash pad here for children, plus an area for dogs to run off-leash. It’s only a few roads over from Sherman Ave, making this whole area extremely walkable.

Guests can also enjoy complimentary daily hot breakfasts, quick internet and free coffee and tea in the lobby, which is open 24/7. I can confirm that the breakfast here was one of the best I’ve eaten in a long time.

Located just off Interstate 90, this is one of the best hotels in Coeur d’Alene for anyone visiting the area’s university campuses. The Staybridge Suites Coeur d’Alene is centrally located between the historic city centre and many of the area’s surrounding universities, including North Idaho College, University of Idaho and Lewis and Clark State College.

The suites here all feature full-size appliances, dishes, pans and utensils, so it’s also a great option if you’re looking to stay in the area longer term. The hotel also has an indoor heated pool, outdoor spa and complimentary guest laundry, making it one of the top-rated hotels in Coeur d’Alene in terms of amenities.

During your stay here, make sure to explore the Tubbs Hill Nature Park, which has over 120 acres of forest and hiking trails. The two-mile trail loop here was a major highlight during my stay.
