Extended Stay Convenience
The grounds and landscape where very well kept, but created a false sense of the anticipate luxury and cleanliness of the living accommodations.
The living accommodations where had very dated furniture. The unit was in need a basic painting maintenance and updates. The baseboards in the bathrooms were peeling and almost appeaed to contain mold. The light fixture (ceiling fan) in the bedroom was half assembled and the sofa was very worn....
We had to wait for a lot of things. It was like they were understaffed.
Clubhouse was nice, but small. Rooms are large and clean. Property is well kept.
A bit confusing since multiple resorts are at one location? Wait time to check in was a bit long. The steakhouse restaurant was entirely booked for a private gathering so we went to the Italian restaurant instead. Food was way overpriced for what was offered. Steak was chewy and underdone when first brought out. Thirty eight dollars for a steak that you could get at The Golden Corral was a bit excessive (IMO). The room was OK, very clean and roomy, but one of the toilets was not working, an electrical outlet cover was cracked in the main living room, and the televisions were tube televisions that I have not seen for maybe 7 or 8 years (really? in 2017??) with very poor reception in all but one. I have stayed at Salamander in VA and this place is not even close to that level of luxury. If Salamander is 5 stasr this resort is a mid 3 (at best).
Not really a 5 star experience
The spa was amazing. Seriously, one of the best massages I've ever had. It was pricy, but worth it. It is also really nice to find a place that has a 3 bedroom option, and I like that the pools were close to the rooms. The location was nice. The steakhouse on the top floor was pretty and the food was very good.
The rooms themselves were dated and there was a hum coming out of the air register. Honestly, the rooms were fine, but I would in no way consider them 5 star accommodations and I don't think you should go there expecting anything more than clean and comfortable. Room service was very expensive and the hidden fees were not well explained. They agreed to 'try to accommodate' an early check-in, but the room was not ready until 3 and I don't think anyone else's room was ready early, either. They should just say 'no early check-ins' if they cannot really make it happen. We called several times over our 3 day stay to request a shuttle and sometimes no one answered and we'd have to call back repeatedly.
