The atmosphere of the bigginings of the 20th century Everything was perfect
Very good staff with a friendly and not at all stuffy approach. Excellent concierge staff (large gentleman with moustache been with the hotel for 16 years) who parked my Bristol with the care it deserves and aranged for a valet! Good location within easy walking distance of the beach and the many restaurants in the town. Nice lounge area for a drink before dinner. Good spa which gave a nice facial for my lady friend on one of the mornings. Overall a really great hotel for a short break. Nothing at all. Some might say it is not cheap, but then you are staying in the nicest hotel in the town.
very nice beautiful hotel
nothing as the price of drinks totally spolied my stay The price of 4 drinks at the pool gin & tonic, vodka & coke, martini & lemonade 26 euro each and a cognac & coke 27 euro total cost of 4 drink 105 euro. This is robbery. We also stayed this week at the Victoria Jugfrau 5 * 7 similar drinks came to 62 euros(85 CHF) & The Hilton Evian les Bain 4*, the same 4 drinks 42 euros.
The spacious accomodation, especially the well apppinted bathroom Menu choice for evening meal was limited if not dining in the Etrier
An all-around great place to stay when in Deauville!
everything was perfect, service, restaurants nothing found
Had a sea view which was nice. Very friendly and polite staff. Spacious room. Outdoor swimming pool. Fitness room way too small. No kettle in the rooms so no possibility to make a cup of coffee/tea. Rooms need some fixing, a few scratches on the wall, at the bottom of the doors, etc...This is disapointing for a luxury hotel. Breakfast far too expensive (30 euros!!).
The view, and the excellent meal we had at you top micelin resturant. No
hotel was clean and practical hotel was very noisy at night beds were very uncomfortable breakfast was very poor all hot food was cold
Good, big and comfortable room with a nice LCD TV set and nice staff. They probably should have a free internet connection to guests in the public area.
Balcony with glass around, so no wind Friendly staff en most of all very quiet
Modern, spacious and stylish room with balcony.
Friendly staff, new hotel, decent restaurant, good price Traffic noise (hotel is on a busy junction).
I booked a Superior room with a double bed and 2 singles. There was nothing superior about the room and the 2 singles I specifically asked for was a sofa bed????
I enjoyed the room very much. The executive room offered nice views through a large balcony of windows and the amenities within the room were of a great standard.
We booked this hotel as our starting point to discover Normandy. The hotel is great value for money. The rooms, although not very big (we booked a room for 4) were very comfortable - the bathroom was excellent. The hotel staff is very helpfull. We liked the free coffee/tee that you could make yourself in the room (the coffee/tea were left each day of our stay one for each person). Although there's a private parking garage it's not below hotel but 100 meters outside which is not very good if it rains. There is a very limited unload parking in front of the hotel. Other than that I can recommend this hotel to everyone.
Very nice and modern hotel. The rooms are really nice with a balcony. It is clean. The rooms are modern and looked very designfull. The personal is very nice. The breakfast is good.
The hotel staff were very helpful and super friendly. The location was very nice. The parking was too far from the hotel.
The hotel is nearby the station, so it's a little bit noisy.
Near to city centre, free parking, close to Docks Shopping Centre, free croissants and newspapers
The design of the hotel room, the bathroom (even if small), was clean and it is an amazing value for the price.
Good value simple Hotel
Friendly helpful staff
clean rooms and good value for money. parking space is too small
Staff were very helpful as we only understand a little French Cost for parking bicycles overnight/ pricey.
Within walking distance of the centre, very close to ferry port
Free car park facility,Free internet access, very close to Dock where many shops including good restaurants. Variable price policy according to the custumers. Somebody has paid only 50 euros just enar to me on same day!!
Friendly atmosphere with smiling staff Nothing to dislike
Good rooms and quirky great decor, staff very good No
Freindly simple no frills hotel, clean and comfortable bed for the night with adequate breakfast Car parking a nightmare! You use the public car park accross the street which is shut on Sundays - so plan your visit assuming no access to your car on a Sunday!
I didn't get the room with balcony as stated in my confirmation. While checking-out, the hotel staff first gave me the wrong invoice with the wrong room rates, and after entering the wright room rates they charged me two extra breakfast I didn't take. Meanwhile the taxi driver was waiting. After these issued ware kind of solved they were not able to charge my credit card because the credit card mashine run out of paper. Therefore I suggested them to send me the invoice and my companie will settle that upon receiveing the invoice.
very friendly and helpful staff, when i wanted to extend my stay and the hotel was fully booked they found me another room at another hotel at 100 mtrs away.Breakfast buffet is good, enough choice. Room is light, modern and clean with nice view. Good parking facilities around the hotel (on the street or the opposite garage), perfect location in the centre of Le Havre.
visit a Boulanger/Patisserie down the street. They were not willing to Retrieving my parked car was not good. The hotel staff knows of my distress.
comfort bed, spacious room nothing
amusing lift No parking, small room
receptionist/owner tried to do all she could when it became apparent one of the booked rooms was not available. The alternative room smelt very musty
The room was adequately furnished and clean, bed comfortable. Location convenient for town centre and easy to find. The big price mark up for single occupency
Clean, proper rooms in the middle of the city centre. Excellent for a city trip, since its cheap and very central. Great boulangerie (bakery) next door! The staff behind the desk could have been a little bit more friendly every now and then and there also absent quite a lot.
Absolutely everything - the proprieters are charm itself - fantastic value, spotlessly clean.I cannot fault this hotel in any way and we will certainly go back. Breakfast is excellent. Absolutely nothing - we have stayed in other larger more expensive hotels and they don't come anywhere near the Richelieu. We are world wide seasoned travellers. This is fantastic value.
The hotel was located in the city center, which was great. The bathroom is not really separated from the room, but this is still OK.
Friendly staff, good breakfast, nice room A bit of smell of smoke in the room on arrival so necessary to open window.
We just slept at the hotel. We have been visiting the normandien coast. The staff talks perfect english and is very friendly. The rooms are very clean, but basic. But that is all you need if you are visiting for a few days. For a 2 star hotel i am impressed parking during the week is in the street and is payed parking between 900:1200 and 13:00-1800 (expect sundays)
Isabelle and her husband were very nice and helpful. The bathroom didnt have a door only a courtain to separate.
Excellent location, clean rooms, friendly helpful staff, great value.
nice staff. comfortable room (good bed), our bikes were safely parked in a garage.
Service and the food!
Casino Drink/Wine is extremely expensive
The room was of a nice size, the facilities very good, and the hotel location is excellent. We intend to return there later in the year, but spend more time. When we booked we wanted half board, but we could not book this on line. they should offer it for weekend breaks or make it inclusive for a given period.
perfect location, friendly staff
relaxing fact that the reception did not tell us about two nights of filming and that we should have been told when booking not on arrival bit underhanded. by the hotel if we had known probably would have gone a week later.
relaxing in room price of food.drink
Great location and reception upon arrival, nice and spacious room & bathroom, good food A bit pricey
Old school luxuryvibe on Saterday evening. Bathroom was not in line with the rest.
I love the ambience of the place and the garden and bar were such relaxing places to have a drink. The little plates of canapes were delicious and the miniature cakes served with a cup of tea, to die for! It is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The price of breakfast is a little high considering it is the same for continental or cooked. I think there could and should be a price differential. I couldn't book room with breakfast, it was room only on offer (not just your site). Swimming pool could do with a refurbishment.
The location is amazing! The hotel is beautiful. The staff is too slow to respond.
Staff were very helpful and polite. Lift out of order
it was in the centre of le havre.and the staff were very pleasant
Very helpful and friendly staff. Free WiFi. Convenient location Bathroom fittings needed a bit of improvement
- convenient location close to the train and bus stations -refurbished room, although bed very old, small and sort of broken -faces the busiest crossroad of the city, only 3-4 rooms facing backwards
The hotel was very central for the main railway station. However, it was a good 20 minute walk from the centre. Whilst the special price was not what I'd call cheap, France is very expensive. The ensuite was a little cramped. So much so that the bathroom door had a hole cut out of it so that it could be closed over the toilet!
All facilities very clean. Room had all that we required. When we asked to change rooms this was dealt with efficiently and without problem. Owner extremely friendly and informative. Original room had a very sub standard bed which resulted in both of us having back problems during our stay. We asked to change rooms which was fine.
The staff were friendly. The rooms were clean and reasonably spacious. I quite liked the coordinated colour scheme in each room.
Very convenient location: opposite main railway station and 15 minutes walk from ferry to Portsmouth, check-in possible up until 23.00. Comfortable room with adequate facilities. The bathroom light switch is well hidden above the sink, not near the door where you expect it and the little knob for switching water between tap and shower head was very stiff, but both worked. There is quite a lot of traffic noise, though this is unavoidable in such a central location.
Clean room, reasonable price, we enjoyed the stay. Thank you.
Very central, comfortable hotel with car parking
Good basic accomodation, value for money Breakfast was a little dissapointing
Good clean room There was no air-conditioning & the staff spoke very little in english
Wonderful central location, within 5 minute walk from the main shopping area, and 10 minutes from the beach. Friendly staff and spacious family room.
The hotel was basic but friendly and accomodating. The room was clean and a good size with a walk-in shower as opposed to a bath. (Which I prefer) No private parking and this can mean expensive street parking on a meter or a considerable walk to find a free space on busy days. They had WIFI but charged 5€ for 45min. The bed was a standard double as opposed to king size. No visible staff after 11pm.
Situation idéale et personnel vraiment agréable, plus une piscine très appréciable pour se détendre : simplement parfait.
Good location at a reasonable price
Well designed comfortable room. Central location in Deauville. Nice small pool. Modern ambience, so not a lot of character. Comfortable.
balcony of room, pool, location no space for clothes! room needed a dresser; needed a lamp by the area of large leather chairs; some balconies had no chairs, but we requested two chairs and a table, and they provided them.
Excellent boutique type hotel in Le Havre city centre. Handy for restaurants and I was able to get a parking meter outside the front door.
The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Near the beach and some good restaurants.
everything!the best weekend in my life :) no
Good hotel with nicely decorated rooms and handy for both the beach (for my small child) and for the shops and restaurants of Le Havre. The breakfast was really expensive at 12 euros but that seems to be the case generally with hotels in France. Luckily my child's breakfast was free so that made it more reasonable.
Nice decor and ambiance (incl attention to detail like soaps, towels etc). Good location (close to the center, restaurants and seaside). We were kindly offered tea and croissants after the breakfast time. It's not the hotel's fault but we were actually looking for accommodation close to Deauville and Le Havre is in fact not as close as 15 km (claimed on booking.com) but more than 40 km by car (whereby you need to get over the mouth of Seine and pay a lot of tolls).
I had read good reviews, and the hotel more than exceeded my expectations. We had a wonderful room, with a huge bathroom and a wonderfully comfy bed! The breakfasts were worth the extra charge - I particularly liked the freshly squeezed orange juice machine! The staff were welcoming and friendly.
Have stayed here before, and will do so again. Small, select, charming staff, sadly very limited as to dinner but otherwise excellent. Recommended. See above, but they recommended various local restaurants, one of which we enjoyed.
breakfast was excellent, reocmmendation of restaurants for dinner also, the towels smelled strongly of detergent
Close to my appointment venue
The breakfast was excellent (price 9 Euros) This is not a hotel, it's a motel. In other words, the bedroom door and window gives direct access to the "garden" or the parking lot. We booked a triple room for 3 adults but received a small twin room. After complaining we were told that there was a third small bed that had to be retrieved from under the other two beds. The room was not large enough to hold 3 beds so the third bed blocked the whole room. The twin beds were based on clean comforter but the third bed had an old blanket and was far from attractive to spend a night in. The amenities and towels were only provisioned for 2 persons. We also booked an additional double room and the bathroom wall was sticky and dirty.
We visited Honfleur and it was easy to come there and park in the city. We only slept and had breakfast. That was excellent. no
Nothing Room size awful, not much bigger than a prison cell and three beds packed into it.Breakfast area too confined and for 6,50 euros for cheese-marmalade and bread a rip off,but hence I suppose you get what you pay for.
Very friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Good food served in the restaurant.
Friendly helpful staff. On site restaurant.
The position. A little run down.
Location, restuarant, staff friendly and helpful, rooms good and well appointed and parking free. easy access and close to Honfleur centre No bar so after a long drive had to wait to gey abeer with my meal
beautiful location and very peaceful, value for money limited choice of menu
Pleasant clean room in the heart of Deauville; convenient for racecourse, shops, restaurants and beach, with parking available. Breakfast charges are too high - so we didn't partake.
Beautiful modern design bedrooms, stylish common rooms. Excellent free wifi, good tv. Separate wc. Of street parking for 8 euros/day (although not really necessary in off season). Booking.com price better value (although rooms are expensive noting the flaws). The lack of a showers in all rooms is unacceptable for a top quality hotel. No inner lock on room. No 'do not disturb' signs. No safe. No waste bin in bedroom. Your reviews warned that the basic breakfast for 14 euros is over-priced, so we did not take it. I chose a room a the rear,as your reviews warned me correctly that rooms at the front would be noisy.
The hotel and location were perfect for our needs. The staff was very helpful. My only comment would be the price of breakfast -- I think that it was very expensive for a light continental breakfast.
The hotel is really very French in decor, the staff are helpful and everywhere was very clean. The standard of housekeeping was excellent. The a/c in both the rooms where we stayed was very noisy, in very hot weather this would be a great disadvantage.
the hotel was conveniently placed for the town and had the benefit of having its own private car park. the room was clean and comfortable & the air conditioning was a bonus the hotel promotes itself as "chic & contemporary" sadly it does not quite work and has a slightly awkward cold feel with the room we were in lacking any character .... even contemporary. I also feel the lack of a shower in any of the rooms doesn't sit well with the modern "contemporary" image the hotel seeks.
A real Gem in Le Havre, hidden on the third floor of the old stock exchange building. The rooms were fantastic, the spa was excellent and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Do not be put off by the casino on the ground floor or the very tacky Pasino signage on the outside of the building, there is a graphic designer somewhere who has a lot of questions to answer!!!
We enjoyed this hotel even though we hadn't realised it was a Casino (the name should have given it away!). The Hotel part was up on the third part anyway, so nice and quiet. The room decor was lovely in a style similar to Klimt. The hotel restaurant was fantastic with attentive staff and a gourmet menu. The spa was tranquil and quiet. There was no problem taking our baby (the hotel staff were very helpful with him and they had facilities such as cots and highchairs) however next time I would go to this hotel as a romantic couples break. The Discover Pass, including breakfast, a 3 course evening meal and use of the Spa was definitely worth getting.
Helpful staff and very good facilities. Of the most recent hotel stays in France it was a delight to register an attempt to price at somewhere sensible levels (nearly!). Very good brasserie.
Nicely decorated bedroom with comfortable beds. Good value for money overall with Discovery package; only charged 8euros for 7 year old which was for dinner. Dinner a reasonable standard and good value; likewise breakfast within the package. Spa accessible with comfortable sun beds and small pool. All staff helpful and some English spoken. Casino has slot machines visible from reception which diminishes the overall effect. No entertainment on Friday night. No storage for bags once booked out.
Good quality and service Refused entry into casino unless passport provided - this was then scanned and no reason offered!
wolkig, stay in the spa i prefer other hotel Best Western
The front desk staff was superior-taking us to our room and showing us the ins and outs of our lovely room and en-suite facilities. They spoke English and were kind enough to find a repair shop for us when we had a minor problem with our auto. We did find the room a tiny bit pricey-but in the end were very pleased with not only the quality of the facilities but the impeccable staff as well. Not a fan of the little half shower door-water got all over the floor.
Friendly and helpful staff. Nice room design. Good location. Quite noisy air conditioning in the room. Hotel obviously more suited to guests wishing to visit the Casino.
Super hotel, everything we expected, and more. Friendly staff, good food, and nothing was too much trouble. Loverly room, clean and well furnished, with the most comfortable beds and pillows to be found anywhere during our 7 week tour through France, Spain and Portugal. We will certainly return here when we re-visit this area. Parking was difficult to find, however we were imediatly informed when a space outside the hotel became available, so realy this was a very minor problem.
food and staff
Excellent quiet comfortable and clean rooms/linen.Staff very polite and helpful breakfast well organised and very good value for money. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to others no
The receptionist was very helpful. The children could have breakfast free. I was not keen on the sofa bed in the family room. The parking was expensive if you used the hotel car park.
The staff were frendly and helpful
Friendliness of restaurant staff.
it was near the central of city it was very old.
The confort the parking
Open until midnight. Place to park tandem inside hotel. Good buffet breakfast. Close to Le Havre town centre & the ferry.
The location, the friendliness of staff and the excellent breakfast Thought room decor a bit sparse
Almost imposible to get to because of city campaign to reduce traffic! Pity because it is in an enviable location. I would recommend to someone who is going to be driven there, but not to someone like me who had a rented car.
The ease of checking in after arriving at 8.00 A.m and the closeness to the ferry and town
Easy to locate on road into town but not far from centre. Tea and coffee available in room. Handy parking.
The hotel enjoys a good location for the centre of Honfleur and has good facilities in the room as well asthe hotel in general. The breakfasts were excellent value for money.
close proximity to the town
The hotel location is near the harbor where all the action is taking place. The room is well aquipped and comfortable.
friendly staff and good service, well positioned for Honfluer centre with good car parking facilities.
Friendly staff, good location Parking was not included and needed to be paid for by the day
Clean,Comfortable.Superb position.Excellent breakfast.Secure Parking worth the reassurance at 10euro.Front room overlooking outer harbour.Efficient lift.
Close to town centre
Good position, just 5 minutes walk to the old harbour where there are a wide selection of restaurants, bars etc. which serve both evening meals and breakfasts. Rooms were absolutely fine. Rooms at the front are noisy due to traffic. Not clear that there was secure parking to the rear of the hotel but the public car park just over the road was fine.
Its closeness to everything that matters in honfleur The hotel staff were first rate
Breakfast was very good Dark room that smelled of stale tobacco smoke. No provision to hang shower head on wall in cshower cubicle.
Very convenient location, close to Deauville’s high street and the beach. Rooms clean and tidy, owners very polite and helpful. Overall a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel du Polo, we look forward to coming back in our next trip to Deauville. It would be great to have some non-French channels in the bedroom's TV.
easy to find, relaxed, unfussy, very clean, pleasant dining room, very friendly and helpful staff. Also located in a quiet street just off the main boulevard quite near the race course. Excellent boulangerie just around the corner.
friendly staff, big room, clean and tidy. it is quite noisy, i'd improved the isolation
There was no toilet in the room
The room was nice and clean. Houskeeper cleaned it in the morning, but didn't change the linen. The price was ridiculously high for a room with shared toilets
The location of the Hotel is superb as it is one block back from a main road so nice and quiet, and the owners treated us very well. The beds are a little on the hard side, but we had no problems with this, but I'm sure other people might.
Good location, friendly staff The smell in the badroom
the location was very good and the staff was fair only the langque differance was a problem (not a lot of english)
+staff, ambiance of a hotel -Breakfast was way too expensive for what it was, smell in a room
The owner and staff were excellent. They made you very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
the staff were very friendly and helpful
Madame Jean, is more like a hostess than the proprietor of the hotel. She is extremely helpful, most accommodating, and thoroughly charming! The hotel is well located and a very pleasant place with a "family" feeling. There is no elevator. However on our arrival Madame Jean insisted on taking our cases and carrying them up to the second floor herself. And when she heard me coming down the stairs with my suitcase bumping on each step, she immediately came up and brought it down for me.
the hostess was very welcoming and helpful.
great romantic rooms. Good location near the beach. Parking was a little bit tricky, but at no cost. Nice little town. Rooms are clean, well decorated and big enough. English spoken !
Nice hotel, very close to the main street in Deauville and to the beach. Very thin walls, so you can hear what is going on in neighbouring room. Unpleasant smell in room coused by wrong working sewage system.
Ok for one day stay. shortage of hotel staff.
Excellent location and friendly atmosphere. Pretty garden area.
I liked the hotel alot. I went for Omaha beach but it was too far away (entirely my fault obviously). Good place though
Great location. Size of room was very good as well as being very clean. Very nice hotel, with good rates.
The location of the Hotel is ideal for our visit. the staff where very helpful this was the comments of all 10 of us who stayed No
The staff were attentive and conversant in english which helped with my rusty french. The hotel was very clean and their duplex room catered very well for my family with three small children. There is insufficient parking but at least ample a short walking distance. Arriving after six on Sunday we did not need to pay anything until the following morning.
Friendly staff, nice, clean, quiet room. Next to Saturday market and near good retaurants.
I enjoyed the design of the room, the linnen, the general level of the hotel. The decor was really nice indeed and I had a great garden view. I did not like the lack of wifi internet in the rooms and even in the lobby. Before coming to Deauville I thought that free wireless internet is a must, at least in four-star hotels in Europe
closeness to center of town
The location of the hotel
It was close to the Yacht harbour & the shops & Market.
Good location, nice decor ,relaxing ambience Building work opposite the room, but, thats no-ones fault and I'm sure it will be over soon
The hotel staff was great and very helpful the property was clean and updated. The breakfast which was incl. in the room rate was very nice as well! The hotel was located in a nice area and close to restaurants and stores. Our purpose for the visit was to enjoy a nice city but to be able to go and drive to the Normandy beaches, approx 1 1/2 hour drive. I think overall for the money... it was a great choise!
The hotel was conviently located in Le Havre and it had a private car park. The rooms were looking tired and were in need of redecorating but were clean and comfortable.
comfortable and I really liked the smell of linen, smelled like home...
Staff were very helpful and the bar opened late No shower over the bath, only a hand held shower
quite reasonable price. breakfast was poor
MY Honest opinion is : Staff was really friendly....location was amazing...pillow & bed was awesome:). Good people with good service make your day. So this hotel would definitely be my only choice when i go to Le-Havre again No complaints at all
The beds were comfortable and the food good. . The shower bracket was broken which meant the shower had to be held in the hand and the curtains did not close correctly which let the light into the room
convience, locality, easy booking in,tidy clean room/late bar service cost, expensive local beer, no tea/coffee making faciltys, charge for scooter parkin
Free WiFi on groundfloor. Nice location, perfectly inbetween beach and city centre. The room we got was old, dirty and very smelly. We went to the reception and they gave us another room. The hotel is very old and really needs a big renovation. In the bar, nearly all the seats were raptured. In our second room, the lamination was broken. It all looks very tired, and priorities aren't right. A new tap and a new showerbath, but all the old waterpipes are still there. It all needs a new floor coating and a new wall covering, but they choose to invest in flatscreens (they installed them when we slept there: early in the morning in the room next to us with a huge drill!). I really don't understand. When we checked out, there was a misunderstanding and I asked some questions. The receptionist went mad and wasn't friendly at all!
Kind hotel staff at front desk. Martime theme all through the hotel makes it look very cheap.
Myself and my two young grandchildren stayed one night so as to catch the early morning ferry to England. The hotel was very close to the ferry port, which as a foreigner I welcomed. We arrived and stayed overnight on a Sunday. Regretably most of Le Havre was closed. This included the restaurants and cafes. I had to drive my young children quite distance out of Le Havre to find food for them. It would have been much better if Les Gens de Mer had been able to provide us with a meal.
