The Knickerbocker is a long-established mainstay of the New York City area. Established back near the turn of the 20th century, in 1906, it provides a view of Times Square, which is a one-minute walk away. The 42nd street subway station provides access to the rest of the iconic city of New York, and the Empire State Building is just a 13-minute stroll from the hotel.
The rooms offer a polished experience, and they come with designer toiletries and high thread-count sheets. There are also minibars available and the free Wi-Fi and flat screen TVs make the stay feel like home.
However, the chic restaurant gives guests a unique experience that is sure to be memorable. Guests can relax at the rooftop bar and those who favor a smoke can enjoy a cigar in the cigar lounge. Things to do
Cons:Confusing lobby area. This could be fixed by relocating reception to the left side of the entry area rather than way up the end of the hall. It is too dimly lit too in my opinion. Our Junior Suite (1501) was quite dark with small windows. The complimentary tablet is a gimmick and is not likely to be useful to anyone with a smartphone or their own tablet/laptop. No hand towel rack—where do you put them? Disconcertingly loose bathroom/shower fittings. No coffee. Stain on couch.
Cons:Shower could do with more pressure
Cons:Given the hotel class and its prices few things could be better, like a Nespresso machine in the room (very common these days even in 4 stars environments) - a greater selection of TV channels would also ber good. Therer's a Samsung tablet in the room, but you can't really do much with it. On arrival with luggage etc. we had to open the doors ourselves - minial as it may sound, when you're loaded with luggage opening a heavy door isn't that easy especially when you se the door men happily chatting inside.
Cons:As noted, the lobby is decidedly underwhelming although the staff was friendly and helpful. Otherwise, no complaints!
