Pros: The car was good and the dropoff process was ok
Cons: The pickup attendant was terrible. We tried to rent the car using the credit card insurance and she insisted that it's not possible. I wasted a lot of time to convince her to process the rental without the store's insurance to allow me to get the credit card insurance.

Cons: Paid almost triple the price than what was advertised on Kayak. Had horrible customer service when I questioned the additional charges. Also had to wait over 40 minutes to pick up the car which caused me to miss the beginning part of the wedding I attended. Will never rent from here again or recommend anyone to do so.
Pros: nice people, return in manhatten was open till 11pm (perfect for my need), nice car
Cons: they will make you take their insurance.
I told them about the aliance insurance that I booked via Kayak, but they told me that it won't cover the cost for days that they could not rent the car in case of an accident

I offered to document to the company that I had put in 6 gallons to drive 115 miles, but they turned down my request for reimbursement of 16$, on the grounds of the "upgrade".

Cons: We waited in line for over 45 minutes to pick up a pre-reserved car and eventually left to rent a car in less than 5 minutes next door at Alamo. When we walked in there were two clerks each assisting a customer and two people in line in front of us.

Cons: It took over an hour to actually get the rental car from JFK. The staff were incredibly slow and very poorly trained (had to ask each other how to select a particular car type, see which cars are available, etc.). It was as if someone just took them of the street and put them behind the counter. Even with over 2 dozen people waiting in line and loudly firstname.lastname@example.org and skiing to speak with the manager, she casually walked around and did nothing. She did not assist her staff nor address the customers.

Cons: the phone number on the reservation was for avis, not budget. i tried to reconfirm pickup at JFK because i was running late, but was unable to reach budget because the phone number was wrong.
Cons: I made a deposit on Kayak with my visa debit card, and was not informed that I wouldn't be able to use the same debit card to hire the car. Wasn't allowed to hire the car, lost my $50 deposit and missed the wedding I came to go to. Devestated. Very unlikely to use Kayak again.

Cons: The car reeked of cigarettes which I a. extremely sensitive too. It snowed un xpectedly and I felt extremely unsafe in the car which felt very unstable driving in those conditions.
It took forever to pick up the car, they have only one person working at a time to help people.
I guess that's what I get for the good deal I got. I will do my best not to rent from Payless again.

Pros: Well, if you can find the place, it isn't terrible.
No one was there when I dropped off the car @ 6 am, and there was no drop box so I had to leave the keys in the car.
The car itself was fine and the rental was a really good price, so keep that in mind. But it was a hassle returning the car as the Google maps address was in the airport service road complex, and I had to figure out the public address by asking.

Pros: I found the staff to be untrained and the policies of Payless somewhat antiquated. I originally indicated I would bring my vehicle back 1 1/2 days into my rental. When I decided to keep the vehicle the full 2 days Payless wanted to charge me a change fee and bill me for another day - even though it would have still been within the original 2 days I paid for. In addition, they charged me for an EZPass and I spent 2 days driving through tolls until a cop stopped me and told me I did not have an EZPass. Lastly, when I wanted to add a second driver noone seemed to know how to add to my policy. Very disappointing experience and I will likely not use them again.

Pros: Good value for the car rented.
Cons: Waited about a hour in the lobby (with one seat for customers) to take delivery of a reserved car. Car was delivered with only 3/4 tank of fuel, but not indicated as such on invoice. Weather was too cold and lobby too full to go back in to correct invoice. I returned car with full tank though, to avoid any addional charges. Will not recommended nor use Payless in the future.

Pros: The agent was extremely helpful and friendly.
Cons: The rate was ridiculously high! I felt like I was being taken advantage of.
Cons: The sold me an inactive EZPass for $23.99 a day which caused my to be pulled over by the NY State Police on my way to CT. The location keeps insisting it not their fault. Huh? How could it possibly be mine?
The car had 40k on it and smelled like fast food.
That's my last time renting from Advantage.

EWR attendant very helpful
Pros: I made a mistake and booked the reservation for the wrong airport. The attendant on 19 Sept at EWR was very helpful trying to sort it out even though I ended up unable to transfer or cancel my reservation.
Cons: Not able to change or cancel reservation and pickup vehicle from right airport.

Pros: The car drove nicely, and was reasonably clean....
Cons: The associate told me to go the wrong numbered spot, so I had to return the desk. Then the car had only 3/4ths the gas though I was marked for a full tank, so I had to return to the desk. When I returned it, I was charged for "being late by an hour" (something I've never thought about when returning before a flight).
Being hidden in the Hertz station made it hard to find.
Pretty poor customer experience, and will be going out of my way not to use Thrifty again in the future.

Pros: Pick up and drop off was one of the easiest things at the airport, we got decent gas mileage too! The seats were pretty comfortable.
Cons: The "cruise control" on the car wasn't normal, the button even said "coast" so it was constantly changing speeds. What's the point of cruise control if it doesn't actually work how it's supposed to . And the pickup on that Nissan sonata is terrible.

Cons: Counter staff is fully aware but unapologetic for their google maps location being off and our walking 45 minutes to an incorrect location. Had to wait 45 minutes for a car with 10 others because "the cars were in the wash". Staff berates us for not taking EZPass or their coverage even though we explained we have coverage through the booking on Kayak.

Pros: The manager lady drove cars like a maniac!
Cons: I waited two hours for my car. It was ridiculous and really screwed up the rest of my trip. And I was told that the insurance I bought through Kayak wasn't accepted. So I had to buy theirs. I also heard other customers being denied all sorts of insurance types. And the location is incorrect on google maps so I had a nice walk around the outskirts of the Airport for an hour as well. It's near the Hertz rental.

Car not available at reservation
Pros: Car was fine. Ran as expected.
Cons: Agent was incredibly rude and confrontational from the moment I got to the desk. We had to wait for an hour for our car after we were checked in. There were at least five other groups waiting as well, who had similar wait times. The desk agent and the other employees were inefficient and the desk agent was literally yelling at all the other employees. It was very uncomfortable for everyone there.

Straight to the point
Pros: Fast and friendly service. The customer service employee(Andrea) was amazing and helpful. She gave me all the details to my rental and made sure I got what I wanted and made sure to have it cleaned and gassed up. The car given was an amazing car as well. Driving it was smooth and everything worked very well. Having a great reliable car made my weekend trip the best ever.
Cons: That I didn't rent for more days. I enjoyed the car so much but when it came time to return I didn't want to let it go.
Pros: Highly suggest. A quick walk from Airtran at JFK, cutting time with shuttle. The car was ready and freshly washed. A video of surface scratches was made on the spot and emailed. The personnel were all very helpful and personable, with good advice on direction. And what a deal. Came through in a pinch, too, at the last minute. Even the other customers there were in a good mood.
Cons: At first it seemed difficult to find but with GPS I got there easily.

Cons: Car advertised as having unlimited miles. Was told at pickup that it only has unlimited miles for individuals who had flown in to JFK, and they would not give me unlimited mileage.
I was charged additionally for the unlimited miles even after speaking with management. This was very frustrating.

Pros: I loved the price.
Cons: The customer service at the rental office was horrible. The man was arguing with me about whether or not my insurance covered me in their car. I ended up paying for the insurance but later found that I am actually covered by my insurance in any car I enter...as I was trying to tell him, but he was arguing with me and I just wanted to leave ASAP and hit the road. Complete attitude problem. His assistant was much nicer and informative. The car was a hyundai automatic with no automatic windows or locks. It was very worrisome whether or not I would leave the car open. The car given was very poor quality. The mile restrictions area little unreasonable as well.

Worst smell ever
Cons: My car was doused in air refreshner, and day 2, the smell of mold took over. It was very nauseating. Plus the car sounded like it has never had an oil change. At only 40,000 miles it was making crazy noises at stop lights and driving really jerky. The worst car rental I have ever had.

Jay (manager) Enterprise 80th & 2nd is incredible!
Pros: I arrived late (and desperate) an hour after the garage had closed, and Jay opened it back up and got me my car. He gave me a free upgrade and was super friendly. Best service I've ever had from a car rental garage. He chatted with me amicably about my trip and was genuinely interested in what I was saying. When I got back, he remembered me and asked how my trip to Boston was. The car was great as well, clean and no issues. Thanks Jay!! Nicole at the desk was a pleasure too!

Cons: That upon picking up the booked car type, it wasn't available and I had to pay an additional fee per day to upgrade. It's not my problem that Enterprise hasn't got the car type available to me that I booked. The upgrade should have been free. As a matter of fact there was a car that looked a lot like a Compact SUV (that I had booked) available in the lot - but that also required an upgrade.

Pros: The Enterprise road assistance has a wonderful service!
Cons: I was given a car that had a flat tire. When I asked the customer service for another car, she refused saying that it is nothing wrong with the car and that I should ignore the error message on the board (which indicated that one of the back tire has low pressure). She tried to inflate the tire on Enterprise compound but the error message on the board did not disappear. She told me that once I will start driving the car the message will go away. I asked again for another car and she refused. I took the car drove it home but the message was still there. I called the Enterprise road assistance and they told me if the tire seems ok then I should ignore the error message. I did so but after two hours driving the pressure on the tire was 25 psi. We stopped at a gas station to inflate the tire. At this point the error message disappear. We finally made it to destination and over night the tire was totally deflated. I called again the Enterprise road assistance who sent AAA to change the tire with the spare one. AAA told me that with the spare tire I should not drive at a speed of more than 50mph. I thought that this was unacceptable since I rented the car to drive a lot around on the highway and not a speed of 50 mph. I called again Enterprise road assistance who agreed to change my car with another one. This took a lot of my personal vacation time plus the stress of driving with a flat tire having two small kids in the back. I am really wondering if it would not be cheaper for LGA Enterprise (and of course much better for me) to have given me from the beginning another car as I requested? I am extremely disappointed with LGA Enterprise and how the customer representative handled the situation.
Pros: Customer service was great. I got upgraded to a nicer car for free. The pick up and drop off process was very smooth.

SHAME on HERTZ!

Cons: Do yourself a favor and learn from my oh so TRAGIC experience, and it was the single WORST car rental experience in my LIFE. I took a red-eye into JFK - NYC. Got in at 6:30am. When I made my reservation on Kayak, I mistakenly did not specify my pick up time so it defaulted to noon - my bad. So the night before the flight I called Hertz and changed my pickup time to 6am. The customer service said that it was all taken care of, no problem.
When I arrived at the Hertz counter in NY they said my pickup time is 12 noon and they have no car for me. I have to wait until noon. Despite my explanation that their phone representative changed my pickup time they said no can do. What they did offer me, if I didn't want to wait (uh, no, I'd love to wait over 5 hours and spend it with the "it's 6:30am and I don't care about you Hertz staff) , I could PAY MORE and get another car to take now.
I once again explained it was their customer service that bungled my time change, but I got a NO CAN DO. Without any options I PAID MORE and got an "upgrade" - from mid-size to full size. I was alone so I didn't need or want a slightly bigger car. Next, the interior of the car was DIRTY. I got black stuff on my hands from the sticky steering wheel. And a spilled drink was dried up on the middle console.
So I drove to the checkout kiosk and told the Hertz staff that my car was dirty inside. She literally said in a very rude tone "that's not my job, I've got nothing to do with that". So I made a U turn and went to the check in lane. I told the Hertz staff my car was dirty and the guy said the SAME thing then walked off.
I swear there is an end to this so bear with me - it gets even better. So I take out my luggage and go back to the Hertz desk. I told them about the dirty car and the rude employees and they readily gave me another car that I still had to PAY MORE for.
Fast forward to check out. I bring the car back and nobody is directing people into the checkout lanes. I go behind the lane with most cars to get in line while others arrive and go right to the front of all the other lanes expecting to check out before those who were waiting in line. There is only ONE checkout person and a mass of cars with unhappy customers waiting and having to figure out who was there first.
Finally I get out of there. I call HERTZ to relay my experience and all the customer service offers is a voucher for the next rental. But I'm NEVER renting from Hertz again so that means nothing to me. Also, they won't even refund me the EXTRA I had to pay when the pickup change was "all taken care of, no problem". No problem? ONLY PROBLEMS. Next, I'm told that if I want any charges reduced on my bill, I need to deal with JFK HERTZ directly and discuss with the manager.
So I call JFK HERTZ to speak with a manager and am given an answering machine saying that they will call me back within 4 hours. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK.
SHAME ON YOU HERTZ and learn from my unfortunate experience.

Cons: We set up for a rental they asked for payment and license information. Credit cards are under my wife's name she holds no license. We were using my license they booked our pick up for 6am. We arrive at avis to be told credit card and license must have the same name. We couldn't get the rental and were told the pre paid amount was not going to be refunded to us.

Cons: waiting for the clerk took a long time, after hours on a plane the last thing I want to do is wait in line for a car.
Pros: This experience definitely made me more likely to rent a car in the future. Staff was gregarious and helpful, pickup and dropoff were easy, and I was pleasantly surprised by the price. The car was in good condition and very pleasant to drive.
