Occidental Jandía Playa - Pájara - Building
1
8.3 Excellent (4,522 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Occidental Jandía Playa hotel (a member of the Barceló Hotel Group, formerly Barceló Jandía Playa) is located on the island of Fuerteventura, opposite the spectacular Jandía beach. This island, along with Lanzarote, is the most arid in the Canary islands. It is also the closest to the coast of Africa, and its the original landscape which entices and surprises the guests that choose this fantastic hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast, large selection of meals, big room with beautiful view. Very comfortable place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The distance to the beach in a straight line about 300m. Great variety options of breakfast.
Cons: The distance to the restaurant centre Morro Jable (about 2,8 km) and shopping centre (about 1,5 km). For people in age above 60 is not comfortable situation (in case of not all inclusive accomodation).
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Food was not great: quantity was there quality not. Baby pool was closed. The customer service (not due to the staff but the organisation) was not what you would expect from a hotel with this standing.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great service, very friendly staff
Cons: There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room! We are non-drinkers and have a small child so lots of early nights which would have been made better with a tea on the balcony in the evenings!
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: It was Terrible
7.9 Good
Pros: It was very big and you could see the beach from the pool floor and the food was great with a lot of choice
Cons: The bar was only open until 11 which for younger age groups is a little early
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed and balcony seats. Food excellent - particularly breakfast on the outside terrace.
Cons: Didn’t visit the beach as there was a major road between us and the beach although had we been there longer we would have used the free shuttle. We had an amazing view of the beach and the sunrise so sat on the balcony.
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff couldn't have been more helpful. My husband is disabled and they did everything to aid our stay. The quality of the food was very good with plenty of choice
Cons: For us as a couple it was just so noisy, I am sure that is my lack of research. The food was good but we much prefer less food but have it served to us,my disabled husband could not serve himself so this made it a long job for me. The noise in the canteen was not conducive to a relaxed meal. I am sure for families its perfect.Probably younger adults will enjoy all the extra activities.

Pros: Hotel was clean and friendly. Swimming pool area was excellent and the restaurant and food were brilliant. The staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. Although the hotel was not full every effort was make to give the guests a terrific stay. Hotel shop was ideal for buying small things and snacks.
Cons: The hotel was not full, which meant it lacked some atmosphere. I was cycling every day and did not need the beach or facilities nearby, which was a good thing as the hotel is a little isolated.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: good buffet
Cons: lack of parking space
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the kid’s club activities, Jorge y Sergio were great! We would appreciate warmer pools, at least one could be heated more. Overall, we very much enjoyed the hotel and we are coming back.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Family suite was very large; having separate kid room was super! Very large bed as well. Kiting and windsurfing centers a stone throw away. Small grocery store on premises, mostly solving the snacks problem. Staff is welcoming and polite.
Cons: Food a bit bland (totally edible but not “gourmet“ at all). If you take half-board, you pay for dinner-time drinks, even if it’s just water (watercoolers are “all-inclusive only”). Snack bar strangely set up - no way to get just a single cup of coffee without paying €10 for “day of snack bar”. Pools a bit too cold for winter-time usage: you want *warm* water when it’s +21 with moderate-to-high wind; 25 degrees water doesn’t cut it (and neither does 28 degrees in the kids splash area). Mattress rather too soft for my taste. Pillows not brilliant, either (though passable).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good food selection to suit all tastes Very good sized bedroom and balcony Great beds Clean everywhere Nice lobby/bar Great pool
Cons: Reception staff were not as easy to speak to as other staff, bit offhand The amount of car parking space is really poor, it’s the worst thing about our visit An indoor seating area/lounge would be nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I would like to commend Nickolett in the beach bar for her excellent service and charming manner
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I wanted to book a surprise holiday for my husbands 30th birthday solely to relax. This hotel was perfect for doing that! Beach was only a few mins down the path, views were exceptional. I wasnt happy with our room but the girl on the reception upgraded us for the hassle (&because of the special occasion) and then on my husbands birthday we came back from a day out to find a handwritten note with a bottle of wine & a dessert which was a lovely touch. Drinks were reasonably priced and it was great to have a mini market within the hotel for extra drinks/snacks. Pool areas are all brilliant, with beautiful views from all. Great kids park and kids swimming pool with 2 slides & lifeguards at pool sides aswell
Cons: I am quite a plain eater & with being pregnant it limits what I could eat even more. Food was okay, however it wasnt very warm. The room we first had been given had stains all over the sofa but was easily resolved

Cons: The swimming pool is quite cold
7.0 Good
Pros: Calm and spacious.
Cons: Distance from airport!
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent choice of food and plenty of choice with regards to alcohol....
Cons: Too many steps, outside particularly, leading to the beach, which are dangerous when wet and in flip flops... Also beach loungers could be tidied up a bit with tables provided in between for drinks and holders.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Coming for meals towards the end meant some things where used up
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The relaxed ambience, entertainment and cleanliness of the resort were exemplary. Drinks plentiful if not a tad watered down. However, that's par for the course in all inclusive hotels as local spirits served..
Cons: Tad disappointed as advised at booking that celebrating birthday and wedding anniversary there was no recognition in room ... on a previous stay we had cake and prosecco in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything you needed was within the property

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities
Cons: The check-in takes to long
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food and entertainment was excellent staff were pleasant all the time. Pool was clean and general hotel was very pleasant.
Cons: The hotel is up a very steep hill. We are fit and enjoy walking but older residents would definitely find it extremely difficult. Also parents pushing buggies would find it difficult. Never used the hotel shuttle as it time didn’t suit us. Also found that the rooms were paper thin walls and could hear people next door. Coffee machine in the main dinning room was off for lunch and dinner and I found this annoying as I love my coffee.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The resort was beautiful with a lot of facilities
Cons: More lively entertainment staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super animations and attractions for children. We liked the performances in the theater very much. Overall, I am very happy with the hotel.
Cons: There is too little choice of vegetarian/vegan dishes.
6.0 Good
Pros: Resorts and facilities
Cons: Rooms are noisy and old fashioned, staff are not all very friendly with guests.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food is nice in the hotel, every body can find something to eat. The sangria was very good. The crew is helpful and polite.
Cons: The kid's playground was closed, although I understand it has to be renovated sometimes. The air hockey machines did not have the ball, so, we could not play.

7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff and good location. They uograded our room to a studio for free
Cons: The wi-fi connection was unstable so I wonder if it's in fact a 3G network.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The bungalow was very clean and spacious. It is a good location as it’s near to the beach and Caleta de Fuste which is good if you like it there (which we didn’t). The beds were comfortable and the bungalows seemed quite new, the one we were in was in excellent condition.
Cons: We found cockroaches in our room which was surprising given how clean the room was. It was spotless apart from that. We complained about the cockroaches and were compensated with a free meal at the hotel and offered a new bungalow and for our room to be sprayed. The first member of staff we spoke to didn’t apologise for the cockroaches and just simply said we will arrange for your room to be sprayed. We then asked to speak to the assistant manager who was apologetic and helpful. The cot we were given had mould on it. I think the property is advertised as having a coffee machine but I could only find a kettle.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious bungalow
Cons: Clean with lots of room
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, spotlessly clean. Great staff. Only negative was the food which was a bit bland but otherwise a fantastic resort
Cons: Food just boring and similar every day no variety
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Absolute gem of a hotel, highly recommend this hotel, staff are very attentive. The apartments are spacious and spotlessly clean.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent apartment location and view (3089). Villa overall nice. Resort very clean and tidy. Lovely landscaping. Some buffet dishes v good (some not!). Ease of access to local shops. Enthusiastic and friendly entertainment staff. Cheap car hire! (Hire at the Airport - v expensive in the resorts). Cheap, frequent, local bus service
Cons: Twin beds. Dining room a bit chaotic. Sofa bed not v comfy. Beach gritty at Castillo end. Wifi poor. Kitchen equipment a little basic. Only one pool heated, and even that was not really warm enough. We travelled with a toddler and expected a warm toddler pool.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Food and staff were excellent.
Cons: The water in the heated pool was actually cold and salty. The children had to give up the idea of spending time there.

Pros: Splendid food
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The food, location, cleanliness and the hotel itself. The beach was beautiful and clean.
Cons: Not all of the staff spoke English and it was difficult to communicate at times. Also there were a lot of people smoking around the sun loungers and the hotel generally. This created an uncomfortable strong smell when trying to relax. I have not found this to be the case in other places we have travelled to. Also some of the food was not labelled and being vegetarian it was difficult to ascertain what the ingredients were.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, awasome food
Cons: No caffe capsules replacement In the room,
7.1 Good
Pros: Friendliness of staff, location, free parking.
Cons: Food is average, outdated/needs renovation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceeded my expectations. Very comfortable hotel with excellent service. The rooms are more luxurious than they look in the photos. The bedding was really good! Food is good and varied but not 5 star, the quality of the drinks is much better with good brands and very good wine. The cocktails I had, mojito and margarita were only ok. Food and drink is plentiful on the all inclusive and the bar stops serving at 1am. Loungers by the pool are very comfy but fill up early and the beach is beautiful, make sure you go for a dip! It’s excellent value for money and I’ll definitely be back!
Cons: I was meant to have a side sea view room but couldn’t see the sea at all. It didn’t really matter as there is amazing sea views from the common areas of the hotel which I spent more time in than the room.

7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast - good choice Long walking path along the ocean Personal is friendly and helpful Everyday cleaning Location is good to explore northern part, a bit too far from the southern Good choice of restaurants in the neighborhood
Cons: Tiny cockroaches in the room attacking any food left without package. I was not sure that this is exactly cockroaches until I saw two big ones in the breakfast room Wifi connection - good at reception, but was very poor in our apartments
7.7 Good
Pros: Location on the sea front gives excellent views, and it’s only a short walk to a range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Hotel was kept fairly clean due to the numbers there and staff worked tirelessly to keep everyone happy. Rooms with kitchen area were adequate and served the purpose.

6.8 Good
Pros: Yes we had a very good experience at Castillo de Antiqua & Suites.
Cons: The only negetive thing Iwould have to say is its more suitable to young families with children the noise got a little too much for us at times.
3.6 Mediocre
Pros: Location (close to shops, car renting companies and supermarket), Price (cheap), Very friendly receptionist especially Joanne who speaks fluent english, and there's a little kitchen in the suite
Cons: there were COCKCROACHES everywhere in the room and they come out from the drains. There is no air conditioning and it's really noisy at night. Lots of drunk people shouting around.

Iberostar Playa Gaviotas - Jandía - Building
15
9.2 Excellent (2,441 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Nestled on the beach, this Pajara hotel is within a 10-minute walk of Matorral Beach and Las Gaviotas beach. Punta Jandía Lighthouse and Jandia Golf Course are also within 2 mi (3 km).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, absolutely fabulous, but please take the Prestige rooms because the pool area for prestige is amazing. Thank you all the staff for everything, as we had an amazing time at the resort and you did all to exceed our expectations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the hotel were friendly and very efficient.I was also impressed by the hotel entertaiment group who mixed well with the guests and they provided some fun events. I loved the food on offer at all times and all tastes were catered for.The set dinner at the smaller restaurant was excellent and is worth booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff and food great, traveling often and first time can give 5***** rating Very professional service in food locations Definitely come back
Cons: Can be music in pool area, otherwise all good
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at star prestige rooms and we loved the star prestige swimming pool and view from the room and infinity pool. Beautiful grounds and very relaxing atmosphere, great selection of drinks and snacks for all incl. We loved the beach, it is just a short walk away, amazing location really.
Cons: People smoking around the pool area and on bar terrace, there isn't an area designated for non smokers while the entire outdoor place is for smokers including balconies, so when you open the door in the morning a wave of smoke is the first thing you smell. I was told by the staff this is Spanish law, that in all open space areas it is allowed to smoke. I feel like hotel could definitely have some rooms and areas around the pools for non smokers/people who do not want to breathe smoke all day long. While there is literally huge choice of food, the taste is mediocre at best, food was the weakest link at this hotel. I feel like easy steps could be taken not to have rump stake turned into rubber and chicken completely dried out on thinner side and raw on thicker. The ingredients used were good, but often the food was dried out, burned or raw or meat turned into rubber - also had to put salt and pepper to almost everything to make it edible. This is at total contrast to what we have experienced at other Iberostar hotels, we didn't feel this was good value for money! And I wouldn't be comfortable recommending this hotel for all incl. to my friends.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: General pool was good and food was delicious. Access to beach is great and the beach itself is very nice!
Cons: No room service - cleaning was also not sufficient, no table tennis inside the hotel to avoid playing in the strong wind, star prestige concept bad, because the pool exclusive for this guests is presented on the homepage as available for all guests. A hotel rather for the old generation.

7.9 Good
Pros: Good facilities and food was a high standard
Cons: The bar and catering staff were not engaging with the customers
7.1 Good
Pros: Lots of pools and lounge areas and the weather was fabulous
Cons: The hotel was winding down for the season so lots of facilities were not available
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything: the design and style of the resort, the accomodation, the restaurant, the swimming pools and the beach very close as specified.
Cons: Nothing in particular.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It’s a beautiful complex with immaculately clean pools, lovely varied food at all meal times and a gorgeous setting right by the (clothes optional!) beach.
Cons: It wasn’t a problem for us but if you want shops/entertainment beyond the hotel you will need a car. Only a supermarket, couple of beach bars by a windsurfing/boating hut and other hotels walkable.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed here many times, and am very comfortable there. I did order a twin bed room but was given a double bed, so had to sleep on a sofa bed. The change was arranged very promptly.
Cons: The right bedroom!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: all the meals were very good with a good selection
Cons: the service in the sports bar, i don't think the waiters liked the English or the Green wrist bands.
