The bed and pillows were super comfy and I appreciated having a small fridge in my room to keep leftovers cold overnight.
The bathroom didn't have enough hooks/pegs to hang towels or clothes. There was one hook on the back of the door, but no hook for a hand towel at the sink or near the shower for a bath towel.
Comfortable, firm mattress. Great, friendly staff! Very accommodating.
The bathroom sink was annoying. The faucet was barely inside the bowl, which made a mess when using the sink. So it was difficult to use the sink as counter space, which was lacking. No other complaints. Everything else was great.
Everything was great. Very clean hotel and good location.
Staying here was a mistake
It was old fashioned in a Tower of Terror kind of old school glam way
It felt like the Tower of Terror, staff was rude when checking us in, room felt gross and was ridiculously small and crammed in a corner. The lady at the front desk quoted us an insanely high price, and when I said cheaper was available online she said “well I guess you should book that then.” When to check in 5 minutes later and felt like she deliberately gave us the worst room furthest from the elevator on the lowest floor. They were also under construction which I didn’t realize till I was in the room and there was a piece of paper informing me. Amenities were a joke. Regret booking this place when there were a dozen better options in the same area.
This hotel maintains it older charm and the rooms have a more modern vibe. The beds were super comfortable and I actually slept well. Lots of USB charging ports built in and plenty of electrical outlets. Is a good overall stay for a vacation weekend or business trip.
I felt like the staff could have been a little more engaging.
Excellent location near great bars pubs and restaurants
Easy walking to shopping in downtown and the Pearl district. Close to food carts and beer gardens. 1 block from the Max train.
A classic hotel
The lobby alone makes this place worth it. Top notch all around.
Everything. Especially the bartender. He is so knowledgeable about scotch, etc. He's wonderful. He the reason we stay there every holiday season. I forget his name but he's been there forever.
Great location. Service lacking
Location in the heart of Portland. Great lobby.
Staff unhelpful. Reservation was cancelled when it shouldn't have been. Small beds and rooms. Bathrooms just okay. expensive for what you get.
Right in the middle of town!
Hotel is very old but extremely well kept, it has a kind of regal feel whenever you walk in. Very good service and the location is the best.
Just two things: The love seat and chairs in my room looked a little old, not in bad shape or anything, just old. The bathroom light was a little dim.
Comfortable and convenient location for business
Very comfortable bed and staff was quite friendly. Great lobby and building with a ton of character, historic architecture, marble, and classic woodwork. (If you want a sleek, modern, generic place that looks the same as a hotel in any other city, this is not the hotel for you.)
My room (1212) was quite small, especially the bathroom. Because I wanted a single large bed and the hotel was pretty full, I think maybe I had that oddball room that most older hotels have that are squeezed into a non-regular space. In this case, it also happened to be near housekeeping, which was noisy in the morning with carts being banged around. The room was fine but smaller than one might expect. The bathroom was ok for me but would have been an issue for someone who spends more time getting ready. There was not even enough room to stand squarely in front of the tiny sink because a bookcase/shelving unit was put on the wall right in the area in front of sink. I had to shave at an odd angle, off to the side of the sink.
