4.0 Okay
Pros: The pool and the garden are very nice. Also saw some sloths in the garden but this is just luck.
Cons: The receptionist was not service minded nor very polite. First we received a room which was just been painted and the workers were still there. We asked for another room which was available so how come you don't give this directly? there was just this disinterested vibe from the receptionist which didn't make us feel very welcome. And then the room, white is nice but the lightning was horrific. White harsh light as you were in an operation room. Sheets were dirty with yellow stains..... and the whole room was just depressing.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Noa restaraunt, cooking class
Cons: No phone in room and they pretended to not know, ice cold, older and you could see warping because of moisture, smelled like paint, no vegetables during breakfast, promised 2 free cocktails because of issues and didn’t give them but gave a fruit basket we couldn’t eat on the last night before we left.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, jungle man, sloths all over, non smoking! Breakfast all great, service great!
Cons: Unfortunately there is dirt in the ocean... the hotel cleans everything but it comes with every flood
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pool bar and beach bar with view
Cons: Hotel is nice but there are not a service like usually you can get in a 5 stars. I ask à fews things at the reception desk to book any excursions and get something’s in the rooms but we did not get anything about that.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very attentive stuff We got a room upgrade Breakfast was ok - small buffet style - could be more if compared with other hotels in that price category Nice surroundings and you can see animals We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the hotels has a good selection of food
Cons: All good - Costa Rica in general is expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really beautiful place, nice location, friendly staff and value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best of the best in this hotel is the staff, they are great, the customer service is great. The food is also delicious and has a good price. Overall we had a great experience in this hotel.
Cons: The place does not meet with accessibility (law 7600), someone with physical disabilities would have a bad time. Also the water temperature in the jacuzzi is extremely hot.

Next door is Casa Las Brisas, our sister property, four rooms boasting ocean views and rustic hardwood design. 9.0 Excellent
Pros: Impeccably kept grounds. Very personable and responsive staff. Scrumptious dining in an intimate setting.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, super helpful and friendly. Food was very good and it’s right on the beach which is great. The bed was extremely comfortable.
Cons: It seems far away from town and the dirt road to get to the hotel is very long and rough which was annoying. But most roads are like that and it seems most of the hotels were far from town as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The free breakfast was served daily and they offered several options. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. That's how you operate a successful business!
Cons: I can't really complain about too much at this spot. My third visit was just as amazing as the first ten years previously.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff. Right at beach
Cons: The bathroom is dark and needs updating
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love this place! We came back for a second time because we enjoyed it so much when we were there on our honeymoon. It has such a relaxing stress free vibe. The staff is always very friendly and personable. This is a great place to come if you want an escape from life for a while.
Cons: Air conditioning would be nice when the humidity becomes unbearable, but we understand it would take away from the Caribbean vibe that makes this place so special.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay. EVeryone was wonderful. We would stay again.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: In general a super nice Hotel at least for the older rooms in the main building. I cannot rate the other additions since we didn't stay there. We stayed three nights in the bigger rooms (Dolphin and Howler). Both have got nice balconies with a hammock and lots of space, a big bed with a mossy net and a fan and a bathroom with a shower (for Howler also with a large bathtub). Howler's got the view towards the ocean, Dolphin is on the opposite side of the building, but the view is still nice. Because of the mossy net on the bed and all the big doors, you don't really need AC since there is plenty of fresh air coming in. Combined with the ceiling fan it is perfect. The restaurant prepares yummy meals. In case you stay for a really long time you might run out of options to try but there is a special every day.
Cons: The only thing I can think of which could have been better is the mossy net. From Africa I know some nets that are basically box shaped and the sides are vertical. They would give much more room on the bed compared to the standard nets with a ring at the top where the sides are angled. Especially in a place like this with quite a few mosquitoes I would have preferred the box shaped version where it is less likely to touch the net during the night. Might be a bit more difficult to hang it from the ceiling though.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Banana Azul is a lovely hotel! The location was a 5 minute cab from the town, which had plenty of bars and restaurants for the evening. It’s right on the beach which made it super easy to just set up camp and relax there for the day. Food and drinks were also really good and staff were always really helpful! Would highly recommend!!

Cons: The bathroom didnt smell good but they fixed
5.0 Okay
Cons: we have two days problems with the water, was none. Also the internet didnt work was not really front wiew of the beach and the phone didnt work
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mistico natural
Cons: Checkout mas tardio Pet friendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service specially Nilda the lady at the reception she safe my life I recommend this amazing place specially family
Cons: I like everything
5.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel location is great ($6 taxi ride from Puerto Viejo and $5 from the animal refuge). It is right across the street form the beach and they do have howler monkeys. Rooms were clean, staff was pleasant and helpful and the hotel amenities have great potential.
Cons: We booked 2 rooms and one of the apartments. My daughter's room had zero water pressure - and I do mean "zero". She took a video because she didnt think that her friends back home would be believe her. Our tap leaked continuously. Beds were extremely hard. There was a nice selection for breakfast but there was not really anything that was great and breakfast was cold. I cant compare this hotel to anything else in Puerto Viejo; so maybe this is the best that is available and it wasnt horrible but we aren't high class travelers and this was only mediocre at best.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Pool, breakfast, location and nature. The big trees and the animals in their natural environment was a plus. We liked it a lot and hope we can come back in the future
Cons: The room was missing toilet paper and since we where 3 peopple according to the reservation, there were only 2 towels, We had to request for the additional one. They brought it and no issues. Everything else was perfect.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nicely located, clean place. Stayed in one of the bigger bungalows just for one night. Enjoyed it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The lodge is beautiful and tucked away from it all. It's a little bit of a walk to the ocean, but not too bad. The rooms were nice and gave a feeling of a tree house. Lush gardens to walk through and a small, but nice, pool. Breakfast was included and very nice. We only stayed one very quick night on our way to Panama.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fab place to stay! Great location near the ocean.... cabins are perfect. Staff helpful but you do have to ask... Had a massage - first class. Used the restaurant, food was excellent and reasonable prices. Lots of wildlife- troupe of howler monkeys popped in one evening. All in all would highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing.... excellent place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The shower temperature changed constantly
9.2 Excellent
Pros: All stuff members were excellent. More wild life seen than at any other hotel ever. Anteater, agoutis, poisson dart frog, macaws, lizards, etc. We loved the common area near the reception area
Cons: The fan was broken and they knew on the check in. The parking is very limited on the property.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice hot tub
Cons: Slow staff, and NO internet! And it does not include breakfast even though we paid almost $200 a night.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved going to sleep to the sound of frogs and crickets, often waking up to the sound of howler monkeys toucans and other birds. Also saw monkeys, agouti, green macaw, poison dart frogs, and lizards all on the property.
Cons: Breakfast is served until 9 am so you can’t sleep in too long. Would be nice if they would extend that to 9:30.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Namuwoki is an amazing place, the garden is beautiful the staff are kind and helpful. You can feel you are part of the jungle, will see animals all around. The bed is comfortable the shower is nice wide, you have plenty of room. The services such as laundry and spa are great and I recommend both. The restaurant for the evening was tasty.
Cons: The breakfast wasn’t really not variable. Almost same every morning. I would suggest them to have more types of bakery products and fresh veggies and fruits more. Plantains maybe or to show the beautiful variaty of the Caribbean gastronomy more

7.0 Good
Pros: Great location very close to town but without the noise and chaos. Nice rooms with fridge and aircon. No TV but we don't need so fine. Lovely small pool
Cons: No breakfast included with the stay which i thought was a little mean considering the cost.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic helpfull owner and his assistent. They helped us beyond everything. Even when we wanted to change our room.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: You could sleep at night with the sound of frogs and wake up with the sound of birds. It was very comfortable and well located away from the noise in the party town of Puerto Viejo. The staff were excellent and very helpful and it even had free filtered water.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool was great, gardens are lovely and room is a great size!
Cons: Beds were rock hard!
4.6 Okay
Pros: The rooms are big and spacious, there is a pool on the “deluxe rooms” side (which is better side with slightly more expensive rates). They change your towels everyday, the bathroom is clean, and bed was comfortable but a bit small for the size of the room. The location is close to town but not on the Main Street, so it doesn’t get too noisy at night (although there were some noisy neighbors that partied to 3am one night).
Cons: At the price of almost $100 USD/night (including taxes) for a total of 4 nights ($380 USD) that we paid for the supreme rooms, this is one of the more expensive hotels on our 3 week trip to Costa Rica.....but: - the room was full of mosquitoes and bugs - the 3 throw cushions (not the pillows) on the bed were extremely stinky (like they’ve never changed or cleaned the covers between guests...I actually can’t begin to describe how gross the smell was) - they don’t leave any extra rolls of toilet paper - the front desk person doesn’t speak any English on the first 2 days of January, I’m assuming their regular receptionist is on holiday. - they charge extra for breakfast - the WiFi was non-existent!!!! Literally doesn’t get any in the hotel :( I don’t know about the other rooms, but I didn’t have a good experience with mine.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: I love the way it looks...im an artist and so I enjoyed so much...for mw is like a space ship to the art mosaic planet...incredible...
7.9 Good
Pros: Rocking J’s is a very cool place with positive vibes. You feel like back in hippies:) Whole area is precisely decorated with beautiful paintings and collages. It has access to the sea, comfy siting on the beach, own bar. Personnel is extremely nice. Hostel is surrounded by a nature. We even sow a sloth nearby sea. There is kitchen and small market just in front of hostel. It’s possible to borrow a snorkel or bike by a small charge. You get a private locker for your stuffs for free :)
Cons: What’s a bit troubling - there is loud music (mostly reggae - what I loved until I wanted to sleep) until late night If you don’t feel like partying there is no escape. We slept in hammocks what I strongly recommend - amazing experience. The bad side - we couldn’t fall asleep until bar closed. There is only cold water available and not enough of toilets :(
6.7 Good
Pros: Access to the beach, beautiful wild garden, cheap beer prices
Cons: The kitchen was always full and to small for that amount of people, i didnt enjoy cooking there as well because of the poor level of cleanliness
6.0 Good
Pros: Evening events
Cons: The kitchen is too small and doesn't have cuttlery or cups
8.3 Excellent

Cons: Noisy room the one in the common kitchen

6.3 Good
Pros: Fortunately we were moved to the honeymoon suite because we had booked a room at the back of the property and when we arrived we had a room at the front with no AC
Cons: Very noisy location!! We Asked for laundry service and were told it was available for a small fee - which turned out to be $26 US!! Unfortunately when our clothes were returned, there were several items ruined by bleach. The staff were very apologetic and keen to rectify the situation as best they could - they comped our room, which was appreciated, but we still left the property with ruined clothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent
Cons: For a room at this price level I was disappointed. The bathroom was not clean, the Jacuzzi tub was unusable, there were no glasses in the room. In other words, while large (and expensive) it was very basic. Also, the room I was in (in the back) was next to a bar with very loud music all night.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel was close to the main areas of puerto Viejo and the room itself was very roomy. Breakfast was good and it had a beautiful presentation
Cons: The two rooms we had were across a dirt alley from the main hotel, next roan old storage shack. Did not seem very secure. The room itself was large with a loft area which had no mattress, and was full of leaves and lizards. The bathroom was extremely small, with an terrible layout. You couldn’t sit on the toilet without your knees hitting the sink. The water was scorching hot for 30 seconds and then stayed cold (our friends in the next room had the same experience). Room needed maintenance badly. The pictures of the hotel on websites are very misleading as the pool is more of a pond and everything seems like it is falling apart. It was more of a cheap motel than a hotel. We stayed in the Kamikaze, should have known! The Ninja next door was a bit better, but still across the dark road from the hotel
7.0 Good
Pros: The bedroom in the loft. Air conditioner worked.
Cons: The toilet would not flush. The wi-fi did not work in the room - it did work in the restaurant.
6.0 Good
Pros: Had the Samurai Suite. Nice and spacious for my mom and I. Great ambiance.
Cons: Toilet wasn’t working. I know not to throw away toilet paper in the toilet, but the water pressure wasn’t strong enough to flush the contents down. Had to plunge the water down, but it was still hassle and just nasty. Was too late to contact the front desk bc it was after 8pm. There were also dead cockroaches. For the amount we paid for the suite, would’ve imagined the facilities were much more clean.
7.5 Good
Pros: The restaurant was exceptional and the staff very friendly
Cons: The sound from a bar down the street was really too much and the sound goes on until 2 or 3 in the morning
4.0 Okay
Pros: Good location, friendly staff, concept of the garden is lovely, 2 slots living on their trees. Big and comfortable bed.
Cons: First day took 40 minutes to serve the breakfast (second day it was quick,no issues). Rooms are very dark, poor lighting, walls are smelly and dirty. There is a club close to the accommodation and they have live music (a dj) until 2-2:30am in the morning and because the doors and windows are not sound proof at all I couldn't sleep. And the housekeeper threw my pijamas onto the lamp shade while she/he did the bedding and she/he left it there.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location was far enough out not to be disturbed but close enough to easily walk to centre
Cons: the lightning in the room was poor and the bathroom was poor
6.0 Good
Pros: Restaurants
Cons: Traffic barking dogs
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff ( volunteers !). Nice big comfortable room with a balcony!
Cons: Unfortunately, we got a room facing a busy Main Street and it was a weekend - a Party time. Music was loud till 2 am. It was more available rooms during our stay.... Toilet had a flushing issues....

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place in incredible. The cabins are beautiful and clean; the bed is comfortable and they bathroom is huge. I loved all of it. Also, the location is very good. Being apart from town, isolated, is great. Nonetheless, you can walk to several places –including the sea.
Cons: I like everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s an EcoLodge in the middle of the rainforest, architecturally designed to highlight the nature around it. It’s naturally ventilated with extremely high ceilings. You will perfectly hear and feel the jungle as if you were outside. Amazing experience especially when it’s raining. A lot of biodiversity on the property. Best choice one can make! It’s an experience of it’s own.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Spanish owners are extremely nice and welcoming you like in their home. The eco lodge is confortable. The breakfast is fresh and different every day. The jungle garden is beautiful with animals including sloths.
Cons: Please be aware jungle sounds (howler monkey) will wake you up since the lodge is open to the garden with only insect protection at the windows.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best place we've stayed in during our vacation in Costa Rica. The architecture of the rooms is really smart and sustainable, the design is beautiful and minimalistic. You really feel like you're deep in the jungle, you can really relax and unwind with the sounds of nature in the background. The rooms are really big and are always in the shade, so there's a nice temperature, even during daytime (at lest this was the case during our stay). The bathroom and the shower are also very spacious and comfortable; the shower gel and the shampoo provided are very nice smelling and biodegradable. The towels smell also really nice, like a clean home. The family owning this lodge is very nice, polite and helped us in numerous occasions. It felt like home away from home, we just loved it here. Highly recommend it.
Cons: We liked everything.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This undeniably the most beautiful location we stayed at during our time in costa rica. It's located in walking distance two nice beaches and is run by wonderful people. Highly recommend!

Cons: Nothing !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bedroom was so comfortable The pool has roof so if it’s raining you still can use it it was also temperate Breakfast was delicious And the location was great
Cons: Nada
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Andre' did everything in his power to make our stay fabulous! Thanks, friend! It's a beautiful facility! The pool area is especially calming with its colors, architecture, and decor. (Loved the deck hammock!) There was plenty of food in the breakfast buffet, and the staff was attentive (ready to cook your eggs to order). For our anniversary, we wanted a massage, so Andre' made the arrangements for us. Ask for Minerva--she's AMAZING! (Perhaps the best massage I've ever gotten!) We got to hear many birds as well as see an agouti behind the property. Neat! Loved the free parking and billiards (i.e.pool table), too.
Cons: Figuring out how to get hot water for the shower is a bit tricky--but Andre' will show you how. (Maybe practice while he's there?)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Swimming pool was amazing ac was great beds were comfy breakfast was good.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Andrea & his team was really nice. We enjoyed the swimming pool. When you swim you can hear the monkeys. You get the impression to swim in the jungle : amazing !
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful little hotel amongst the jungle. So quiet and peaceful, but just a few minutes drive to town. The pool is warm and the included breakfast is nice. Very reasonable price for what you get. Highly recommend.
Cons: My one and only complaint is that our room didn’t have a fan. The ac unit is nice, but a fan would’ve been better for airflow. The door to our balcony didn’t have a screen, so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving it open to let in fresh air because it would’ve let in bugs and mosquitos. Ended up making our room feel a little musty and stuffy.
7.9 Good
Pros: The Green frogs were awesome.
7.5 Good
Pros: Loved the pool..

7.1 Good
Pros: The stuff was really friendly, nice common zone, garden and kitchen! Beautiful pets!
Cons: The smell in the room was really bad because of humidity. If the owners can fix it would be a perfect place to stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic couple! They were warm, friendly and welcoming. They have a nice kitchen that feels fresh that you can use. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Waking up in the jungle ! Busy
Cons: Our ‘eco’ room was the most disgusting place I’ve stayed in my life. And I’ve been to more than 40 countries. The room smelled really really bad humidity, was dark and tiny ! It is a bodega that these cheap hosts dare to use like a room to make some extra dirty money. It was so smelly that our clothes were contaminated. When I told the owner about the smell, he acted like it was in our head but got us a broken fan... great performance! His wife was totally out of touch... didn’t even do a proper check in. We had to pressure the owner to check out so we can leave at 6am cause they had issues with their internet connection...so we couldn’t pay by credit card. These people are apparently new owners. They’ve been ruining this great located hotel for the last 2 years. You can see the level dropping by the comments on here. Really a shame for such a beautiful place in the Caribbean Costa Rica.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Amazing hosts and staff. Awesome location. Super comfortable beds and bed linens. AC worked great. Breakfast for an extra $5 each per day was delicious and huge! Store nearby. Best beaches nearby with no sand fleas. Great outdoor kitchen with patio. Our favourite place we have stayed in Costa Rica.
Cons: Everything was great!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Pavillion room was amazing. Its a work of art. The staff is super helpful. I was in the middle of having a lot of travel rearrangement and trouble. The staff were flexible, helpful and easy going.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The location is awesome and the garden in the area is amazing. Loved all the green plants and trees around. Loved the hammock in the balcony and the balcony itself. The breakfast was good, gallo pinto and fresh fruits - the amount was just fine. The place is not far from center in walking distance, which is great.
Cons: We traveled 6.5 hours to this place on a day of my birthday (me, my husband and our small dog) and were very tired that day, but the very first thing we've heard from a reception worker was that they normally don't accept pets (however, in the reservation site they claim to be pet friendly!). That's not exactly the best welcoming message you can get upon arrival! Also, it's not my job to start figuring out why they claim themselves to be pet friendly in the website if they are not! It's not client's job to even think about what happened and reception workers should not put that responsiblity on me. I'm not there to discuss their computer/website skills or website errors, but to enjoy my vacation. Then reception lady told that this is fine and she will make us an exception, making us feel like she is doing us a favor. But come on! There are properties that accept pets in the area, and we were choosing from 5 other hotels and chose this hotel, so why should we feel like someone is doing us a favor when it's the opposite? Clients should not be treated like that and I suggest to a hotel owner to train their receptionist better to be more professional with clients. So, I highly do not recommend this hotel to the travelers with pets. WiFi was super slow. Hot water was only on the first day and then totally disappeared the other days. Receptionist lady claimed the room is superior, but in reality it was very simple. It was fine, we liked it, but this is not superior. Also, it is overpriced, but I understand that this can be due to high season, so this is fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and kind staff. Enjoyed room upgrade! Pool, breakfast and free parking were nice. Bike rentals easy and well maintained. Would definitely go back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very good, in the second line, far away enough from the main road which is very busy. Therefore, it was very quiet and we enjoyed hearing the howling monkeys (congas) in the early mornings and many birds. The owner Stephanie is very friendly, and so is the personell. We enjoyed the rustical furniture and that all the rooms were protected from mosquitos by nets. We recommend the superior ("deluxe") rooms which are more spacious and have more privacy.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice little pool for after a long beach day. Cute place for breakfast. Had beer and soda available. Great location from Puerto Viejo and other beaches.
Cons: The rooms were ok.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accomodation is very beautiful and near the City of Puerto Viejo. The owner is a very good host. She helps us getting a dolphintour for the next day and makes everything that we felt comfortable. The bedsize of the extra large bed was incredible.
7.9 Good
Pros: The fruit was always delicious, especially pineapple and papaya. They served additionally scrambled eggs and toast. The place is rundown; a surprise since it got good reviews on trip advisor. The last Saturday nite the whole place was booked with local people and their party lasted past 2:30 am - very very noisy. We got no sleep and the walls are paper thin. No staff past 8 pm at night. It was dreadful
Cons: The staff seemed indifferent to our concerns except for one lady, Pao (spelling?) she was very helpful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is fine, swiming pool for children.

Pros: Marc, the owner, was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. He made the breakfast to order every morning. It was always delicious. The room was spectacular. Very comfortable. Almost too comfortable to leave. We would definitely come back!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice host who made very good breakfast and was very helpful. The bungalows were really nice and cool, even mid day. Caribe Town has some bikes for the guests, which we used to go to Punta Uva beach. From there we walked as long as we could on the beach, about 1-1,5 hours, so in total close to 3 hours. There were only restaurants at the end, so bring a lot of water if you do that walk.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The pool
Cons: Overpriced and the room was small , thought it would be bigger being described as the honeymoon bungalow

7.0 Good
Pros: Great location very close to town but without the noise and chaos.
