nice property, smooth stay
nice rooms
the urban fee is a ripoff
Everyone was very cordial and that is exceedingly important to me.
The lukewarm/cold complimentary coffee served the days I was at the hotel.
Quiet with access to the theater district, Union Square and fine dining
Bathroom a little small
Pretty Old Building, But the Comfort Level is Meh.
I really liked the architecture and our bellhop/concierge (they play double duty) was really nice.
The rooms are small, which I expected from an old building. The mattresses are awful (truly, truly awful), which I din't expect and the price is high for low amenities and low quality. Also, the valet parking is $60/day. When we checked out, they asked how our stay was and I told them the mattresses were really uncomfortable and they just sort of ignored that. They probably hear it all the time. I won't stay there again.
Friendly & helpful staff. Location, and Jaspers as an option for meals & drinks.
A little worn, coffeemaker inroom,
Hotel with Great Atmosphere
The hotel has lots of character, the lobby looks like the lobby of an old movie theater. The room also was furnished in period style, with a nice view. Very conveniently located near Market Street.
I loved it!
I typically stay at a large chain hotel but couldn't get one on a short notice - the price was right and I really enjoyed taking a break from the same large business hotels. The lobby takes you to another place in time and everyone was very friendly. The room was clean and quaint. My colleague was staying at the much larger Hilton right across the street and loved the Serrano when he stopped by. It was a nice break from the usual and well worth it!
Great hotel if fading a bit
This used to be a Kimpton Hotel and still has the cool factor that Kimpton brings to all its properties.
Sadly, maintenance has waned since the hotel was sold to an investment company.
THE OLD DAYS
Rooms were small but clean. Hotel was well kept for its age.
Location is in a difficult side of town. Hidden costs such as a $22.00 tax. We made them take it off. $59.00 for parking we were not told about the cost. Then our account was charged other amounts we had no idea what they were.
great location, okay hotel
Location - excellent, v close to Union Sq/restaurants etc; staff - friendly/helpful
Room - small, low on facilities eg no kettle for tea making; noisy pipes; hotel 'resort charge' of 20+ per day for wifi and coffee station in lobby is bit cheeky for tech capital of the world with over 100+ starbucks in city
Serrano hotel
Staff were friendly. Lobby was nice. Close to union square. I quite liked te location.
Room wasn't that clean, dust balls and items under the beds. Beds very soft as mattresses were old. Bathrooms looked very tired and were cramped. Wallpaper scuffed up badly. Needed remodel. Also there are a lot of homeless in this area, I got woken up every morning in the early hours with neurotic screaming and shouting from people sleeping outside.
Bed and quietness
Location not the best, but it is San Francisco...
The room was clean and comfortable, and very nicely decorated. Great looking lobby! The free coffee and newspapers were appreciated.
The lobby was freezing cold due to the front doors opening automatically every time anybody walked by, so I couldn't enjoy sitting down there. The bathroom in our room was miniscule.
I liked best the service, and then the decor of this hotel!
The room was a little too warm and we couldn't turn the heat down,so we had to open the window, which is not good heat consevation.
Personnel were very helpful. Restauurant was excellent. Did not like the location. The parking fee was outrageous. Room was very comfortable. Loved the shampoo, rinse, soap!
Parkiing fee, location. Would stay again, however
Very close to public transportation, shops, restaurants
to much noise in room , caused by "antique"ventilation system
The wine/happy hour and the service at the restaurant, Ponzu.
Pretty rooms. Good hotel restaurant/bar especially for happy hour. Free organic coffee and paper in the mornings. Free wine 5-6pm. Free internet access with Kimpton Club membership.
Hotel exterior is being remodeled between 9-5, m-F.
unique, eclectic, and comfortable
