Pros: We have been staying at the Grand Residences Marriott in South Lake Tahoe for many years to celebrate my husbands birthday, this year was a tough one since my husband passed away in July from cancer, we as a family decided to continue our tradition, our trip was a celebration of my husband and father of our five kids and grandchildren, we booked four rooms at your hotel so our group would be comfortable, one room a two bedroom was the largest room we booked and 8 of our guests were staying in this room, it also served as the main gathering place of our entire family, Friday the day after Thanksgiving on our way out to to go sledding and enjoy some outdoor activities with our entire group we stopped off at the front desk to inquire about Marriott points and a couple of general questions, upon doing so we were informed we were being checked out of our larger two bedroom due to owner occupant checking in, this was news to me since I booked all four of our rooms months ago, made numerous calls to you folks in the weeks leading up to our stay and never once was I informed of the need to check out of one of our rooms, we were completely blindsided and this out a damper in our stay! I do have to note that the manager did set us up in a nicer room however the inconvenience of having to go back to our room and rush pack everything was a pretty big chore and physically hard on me, in the rush of everything I left behind a large baking dish, lost my cell phone and we were unable to square away the shuffling of some bowls, crockpot and baking dishes that were used to take food to other rooms we booked, we were also unable to take advantage of hotel activities due to all of our guest cramming into one of our rented one bedroom units while we waited a few hours for our transfer room to be available. I really love going to the Grand residence by Marriott in Tahoe, I spent a lot of money on this trip in just hotel accommodations and to be honest I am very disappointed!

Pros: Located in Heavenly Village with shops and restaurants at your fingertips. The attention to detail with the rooms in terms of amenities was awesome! Rooms with full kitchens have everything from pots and pans to dishes to a blender, toaster, coffee maker, etc. From the moment we checked in, the staff was absolutely wonderful. We were early and our room wasn't ready. The front desk staff offered to show me 2 other rooms that were available for an early check in. We were greeted each time we walked by the front desk with "How are you?" "How can we help you?" This property also offers a lot of fun activities, most at no cost, such as hikes, yoga, smores, bagel bar, parfait bar, hot cocoa, guacamole, kids camps, etc. Perfect resort for families. The athletic coordinator Kristen was wonderful. I highly recommend the free 2.5 mile guided hike.

Cons: The cost to park the car was high. $29 a day. We parked down the street a ways which was inconvenient. Also the gas fireplace in the bedroom smelled very strongly of gas when it was on so we didn't use it.

Pros: I think the thing I liked most was the location. While the Gondola portion of Heavenly is not my most favorite, staying at the villas is just so convienent. Once you park you never really have to leave. Supermarket is across the street, cinemas are on site, so many good restaurants are also on site, there’s so much to do within walking distance. It’s really what sold me.
Secondly, since there are so many nice places that offer the same close proximity of the gondola is the villa itself. We had plenty of room for our party of 7. We cooked most nights, then frequented the pool area. So relaxing. And very spacious. Not all accommodations can offer the room to stretch out with 7 persons in a room.

Cons: Despite being on 5th floor, room still prone to all outside noise. Heard music from basecamp pizza which made bedtime and nap time really difficult for my 2 year old. Even white noise machine could not drown out the sound.

Cons: Didn't like that my sister in law's room was in a totally different building than ours, but understandable given the layout and they were completely booked that weekend. Also couldn't believe her room was much larger and nicer than our premium lake view king, given our room was $80 more per night. But the view made up for it. After all, it was only for one night.

Pros: Location was nice, close to lots of restaurants and shops. Right off of the main road so it’s easy to find and easy to access other locations on the lake as well.
Cons: There was no mention of the mandatory $30 per night valet parking when we booked. The “fireplace” in the room is simply one of those fake electric ones that you could hear the belt squeaking on every 5 seconds because the “fire” is actually just an image on a conveyor belt like system. Also, the fan for the fireplace would not turn on with it’s dedicated switch. The bed was so so. I guess I expected something a bit more plush for a 4 star hotel. Upon leaving we were told that there was an additional $85 dollars that would be coming out of our account as an incidental charge. When pressed further they mentioned the fee would likely be adjusted down to $58 dollars and it was. The issue was that while this may simply be a glorified cleaning fee, it was also never mentioned while booking the hotel plus my wife and I kept the place extremely clean. We pulled the towels for the cleaning service, we remade the bed, any used dishes or items were neatly left in the sink or dishwasher. Our little weekend stay ended up costing us an extra $130 just in hotel fees. This seemed like a lot considering the two nights already cost us roughly $350. Overall this hotel is overpriced and therefore we will not be returning.

Cons: We had a very long walk to our room on the first floor. We had a problem connecting to the internet service the whole time we were in our room. I could not connect with my daughter regarding her wedding that was taking place during our stay or to make dinner plans with my sister, which caused me to become frustrated and angry. A maintenance person said it was due to the location of the room. The beds were hard and we had a trouble sleeping.

Cons: There were only a couple things we didn’t like about the property. When looking at the pictures it made it seem like the room had a jacuzzi tub. However all jacuzzi tubs in the hotel are not working and are now just some tubs. But they still have the jacuzzi in the rooms. The other problem was the bed felt like you were laying on a slab of concrete. The mattress was supper firm. When laying in it there was no give at all.

There was very noisy room above us, and they made noise most of the night, I did call front desk and it lessened but did not stop...we booked thru Kayak, and expected to get one of the theme rooms, but because of some strange problem between hotel and booking site, the hotel staff, can't assign a them room, and don't have the info to call the hotel guest to assign room # for theme room...so bottom line we showed up and paid for theme room and got "regular room" this was huge disappointment...overall I like the rooms, large tub, show, and mirrors....those features are fun...the down side, is that carpet needs to be replaced in the rooms, they have redone carpet in halls...the staff and front office area could do with more updating and more features to enhance the experience...

We turned of our AC as we did not pack industrial rated earplugs to deafen the unbelievable drone of the AC in cooling mode. The staff are well aware of the noisey plumbing. I was told by the receptionist that they do not recommend their guests restrict the hours of spa usage. Mind you the spa is only one excessive problem this hotel has... AVOID

Cons: Disappointed that even though the lobby was plastered with signs about breakfast and/or a morning coffee bar, neither were available for both times we checked in, the 26th and again on Sunday the 1st yet the signs were still up. When checking out on the morning of the 27th, the elevator was not working and it was challenging navigating the stairs with large suitcases. Also, the bed was somewhat comfortable, the pillows were hard as a rock! Thankfully, we took our down filled pillows from home.

Cons: I am going to start off by saying I was truly disappointed with the BOOKING of this hotel. Where do I even begin! Be careful which room you book! The photos on the website are mainly of the "newer" more renovated part of the hotel, NOT the old, worn down, secondary building in the back called the Tahoe Blue Building which they do not specify!! As soon as we arrived and checked in, the girl at the front counter didn't even greet us and was very rude (wish I would've taken her name down but I think she was the supervisor of the two girls that were there; she was tall and blonde). My family and I were given a map and told we needed to exit the main parking lot and drive around the block where there was a secondary parking area where the second hotel building was located. There was no direct access from the main hotel to the second building. After driving around the block twice because we missed the entrance where the secondary parking lot was located we finally arrived. The building honestly looked like some worn down low income apartment complex in the Bronx. I would've rather stayed in a real Bronx hotel if I had to choose, it was THAT bad. The lighting was poor, the exterior of the building looked like it was ready to be demolished, the curtains from the exterior looked ripped and old, there was no elevator, the stairs were rusty and looked totally unsafe. As soon as we got to our room and opened the door I WAS HORRIFIED. The room lighting was poor (there was like one lamp inside), walls were dirty, sheets looked dirty, the room smelled moldy, I didn't even go inside the bathroom. We lasted less than 2 minutes before we grabbed our things and went straight to the reception area to ask for a room upgrade in the NEWER building. There was NO WAY that nasty room was $180/ night. MOTEL 6 down the street for $40 is much cleaner than that s***hole.

Pros: The front lobby personel were very helpful in answering quetions regarding the various site seeing/activities that were offered in the area.
Cons: The towels for the guests were very small in size. You needed two per person just to dry off from a shower.

Pros: Everything was very clean and had the things we needed. The only problems were that the breakfast starts too late for us. A 7am start would be great. The other issue was the heat in the room. There were baseboard heaters and a unit on the upper wall and no matter what we did the room was hot. The shower was great, nice pressure and hot water. Our stay was affordable and good.

Cons: The 1st sparse breakfasts was very very crowded (Sunday am). Went to get breakfast at 7:00 am on Monday morning and it was locked and office was locked. Could not even get a cup of coffee!!!! Add said breakfast was included.

Cons: The sink had huge cracks. The bathroom was set for two people and we registered for three. They advertised that soap, shampoo was provided and we got toiletries for only one person. Had to make a trip down to get extras. The outdoor steps to the second level had chunks of concrete missing. Blinds missing, light coming in at night kept us awake. Pillows were super high, Very uncomfortable! ROOM WAS DESIGNED FOR A MAXIMUM OF TWO DOUBLE BEDS. WHEN THEY CHANGED INTO A ROOM OF TWO QUEEN BEDS IT BECAME WAY TOO CRAMPED!
