Pros: The location, the pool, having a spa onsite, but most of all the breakfasts were so lovely!
Cons: It was not possible to get a massage when we stayed. Would advise book as soon as you arrive
6.0 Good
Pros: Location, connecting rooms.
Cons: Unhelpful receptionist on 2 occasions. Check in receptionist nice. Hygiene in indoor pool. Staff walking with street shoes on side of pool.
9.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, as it was very central to the small town of Tavira. It didn't feel touristy, but we went out of season. Not sure how busy it would be in the peak, but it was a large hotel. Hotel had history, and the rooms were large, comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful, and the hotel is a short walk from the town, and easy to get to the ferries to go on the boats to the beach.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect for a family stay. Indoor pool is great and the breakfast is excellent.
Cons: The bar is closed most of the day.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully restored buildings, spotlessly clean environment, lovely outdoor pool and indoor spa with big warm pool, jacuzzi and hamman all included for free. Large room with small terrace. Very comfortable bed. Well-equipped bathroom. Superb breakfast buffet. Evening dinner in the restaurant was excellent; as we were not that hungry we ate a-la-carte for half the price of the €25 per person buffet. Most of the customers seemed to be on a package which included the buffet option. Fantastic location in the middle of the salt beds and river bank walks, great for birdwatching. Fairly isolated location but we had a rental car so that was not a problem. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful and all spoke English.
Cons: It was lovely to be able to sit outside by the pool to eat breakfast but the waiters were very slow to clear and re-lay the tables so many people, including us, took cutlery etc. from the indoor tables and did it ourselves! The restaurant tables in the evening were 95% reserved for the buffet option; only a few tables were available for a-la-carte diners. We were told we had to wait for a table to become available. We had the feeling this was also a way to try and "push" us into talking the buffet option. When we said "..OK, we'll go and have a drink in the bar so please call us when there is a table free.."; suddenly they found us a table.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is a bit far away from the action, but offers an unique opportunity to blend in the coastal life of the region surrounded as is by marine salt marshlands and immersed in total silence. The hotel also offers an unique layout in a restructured tuna meat processing plant with a chapel and a school for the workers' families. There are plentiful opportunities to wander around or spend great time in the historical district of downtown Tavira which can be easily reaced by bycicle.
Cons: The breakfast has sufficient variety of selections but the quality can be substantially improved.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. Also, the bar, restaurant, SPA, and pool areas were quite pristine and well cared for. The staff was amazing and always very thoughtful and helpful. The area is extremely close to Ria Formosa and Tavira's center. Quite good to chill out.
Cons: The machines in the gym were old and rusty and the bathroom in the room required some conservation and care. Also, the amount of noise created by the families that were staying there wasn't that good.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nicely renovated hotel located in a quiet area. We stayed in winter so it was pleasant. Nice spa. Good food on the menu of the restaurant. I imagine it must be crowded and different in the summer.
Cons: Breakfast quite basic; food didn't seem very local
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The complex was of very high standard cut off from all external disturbance, every thing needed was at complex, the ferry to Ilha Tavira was ideal.
Cons: Nothing to complain about

Pros: I just wanted a decent hotel for the 2 nights. It was wonderful. Very helpful staff. I used the gym and sauna. Didn’t have bathing suit so could use spa pool. It looked really nice though. I don’t want to say too much because I’d like to be able to get a room next time I come back. Close to bus and train station and easy walk to center. Amazing!
Cons: Perhaps the only thing may be the walls may be a bit thin and perhaps a bit better pillows.

Cons: No tea making facilities in the room. Restaurant in the evening could have been warmer. Good selection of hot food at breakfast but on cold plates.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff! They work hard and were always helpful. The breakfast buffet was the best I've had at a hotel. The breakfast room is on the 3rd floor and has a terrace with views of the lagoon and far off ocean. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent as well. Modern motif throughout.
Cons: The sofa in the room was a little impractical to sit on and blocked access to the curtains making them difficult to open on that side of the room. Otherwise the room was great.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here for 5 nights to rest at the end of a busy 3 week tour. Very nice breakfast assortment. Newer building with a modern style. Room was clean and comfortable. Balcony gave way to view of nice garden. Ample free parking on site. Free shuttle into town twice a day in off season. We ate at the on site restaurant a few times and enjoyed it. The staff really make this place stand out. Very friendly, attentive and engaging. A shout out to Goncalo who definitely stood out.
Cons: The shuttle bus to town was cancelled one of the days, not sure why.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and parking is possible right in Front of the hotel. The breakfast was among the best we had in Portugal with fresh juices, bread rolls, pancakes and eggs of all kinds.
Cons: The hotel is a bit further from the City. The hotel Restaurant is very expensive for Portuguese standard.

9.0 Excellent
Cons: The AC remote could have worked
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This time we've got better accommodation than we expected. :) Mid January, looks like very low season here. But still onsite supermarket is open, minitrain to the beach runs till 5pm, buses to Tavira run as usual and places for eating also are available. As we did before we asked for electric kettle in the reception :) We could also rent the hair-dryer (for a deposit). The rest was as usual - clean, quiet (except for lawn mowers), green. Well, just fewer cats than usual – we will have to return here some other time to check on this :-D
Cons: Just remember that in January this is really low season so some restaurants in Santa Luzia may be closed (even if info on the internet says otherwise).

Cons: The plastic covers on the bed....
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Apartment was very spacious, 2 floors. It was imbeccably clean. There was a TV which included English speaking channels which was a bonus for us! Couch was comfy and there was decent kitchen utensils and facilities. The pool was clean and there were lots of sunbeds. The location is very much out in the country but we loved the peace and quiet of it however, we were still only 30 mins from Faro on the train. We would definitely go back again.
Cons: The only member of staff we ever seen was the cleaner. It's a small enough place and as it's all apartments it doesn't need much staff but maybe somebody at reception during the day would be good for answering questions.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was lovely and clean. The staff were welcoming and gracious and spent the time to orient us to the area.
Cons: The suite we booked would have been very challenging for anyone with mobility issues.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room, comfortable bed and creative decor overall. Lovely fresh and natural breakfast. Wonderfull host. Highly recommended and Tavira is a lovely place.
Cons: Nothing.
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff was amazing, truly. And the common spaces were magnificent. The location was wonderful.
Cons: I went to the site looking for a hotel, as this was advertised as being. But it's not. It's a bed and breakfast- which I hate. I would never have booked a B&B knowingly, so I feel the advertising is misleading. The common spaces were magnificent- but the room was really sub-par. And considering this place was over double the price of most accommodations in the area, I was expecting more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely decorated B&B with a beautiful rooftop patio. Hosts could not have been more welcoming. Thanks Again
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, interesting and comfortable house, roof terrace a bonus.
Cons: Breakfast was pretty basic.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at MY CHOICE Cabanas Gardens in Tavira, you'll be just steps from Ria Formosa Natural Park and Cabanas Beach. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Apartment, pool area and general facilities were both spacious and to a very high standard. I would book Cabanas beach again
Cons: Check In is at 4pm which is quite late this wasn't immediately clear when I booked these apartments and or it seemed an earlier check in could be arranged but that wasn't possible.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The swimming pool area was quite pleasant.
Cons: When we arrived the floor was dirty and sticky. The apartment was invaded by ants. It was an apartment for four people but with plates and silverware for only three people. The beds were very, very hard. And the lighting was so poor that shaving was quite challenging. The managing company didn't care much.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location 5 min walk to waterfront with bars and restaurants.
Cons: You had to go in and out via the basement garage as the main door locks were all broken, a bit of a pain and the sofa bed was the worst bed I have ever slept in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Size, location
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Spacious duplex apartment, very quiet and locality was great. Pool area very nice and clean.
Cons: Smelt a bit musty when we went in as if some one had used an old mop to wash the floors. Bathroom a bit musty too. No hair dryer and there's always a hair dryer!!! But overall good.
5.4 Okay
Cons: There was no kettle, no full length mirror , the pillows and mattress were not great.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location is great, and the grounds are really kept well. I would go back 100% just not with Cabanas Gardens. There is apartments above the duplexes which i think are managed by someone else.
Cons: Arriving at cabanas gardens was a bit of a nightmare. I told cabanas gardens we had a late flight when booking via email but they seemed to not know this. They told us that they would leave a key in a key safe at there office (we'd never been to Cabanas before...), finding the office at midnight wasnt the easiest nor was the 15 min walk with all our luggage to the apartment. They told us to meet them the next day at 9am to pay the balance and were half an hour late. At first they told us that when we were leaving we needed to bring the keys back to the office, but i said i was not doing that and i would leave them in the apartment. The beds were very uncomfortable. There was a few things with the apartment which may seem slightly nitpicking but for what we paid (approx. £980 for the week) I expected more. The cupboard door was broken in the kitchen. The banister on the stairs was loose. There was a hole in the wall in the bedroom. The light fitting in the living room was hanging off. There was a sun lounger mattress on top of the bush. When we told staff their response was they know. Leaving cabanas gardens, we asked if we could extend the check out time, they said no. I asked if there was somewhere to leave the bags and they said bring them to the office. I called and explained that we were getting picked up from cabanas garden and they said we could leave the bags in the flat but we need to be out as the cleaner would be arriving. When picking our bags up 2hours later, no cleaner had been.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Lack of wifi in apartment. Only available at pool area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location close to restaurants and the beach

7.9 Good
Pros: Super nice staff and wonderful director. We felt at home quickly. The location couldn’t be better!
Cons: The bathroom could have a technical makeover (though everything did work). The kind of old fashioned style of the rooms can also be charming for retro lovers (like us).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Pretty location on the river.
Cons: Town rather dull but maybe because we were there in March .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a great location. The room was lovely and very clean. We had a wonderful breakfast. The staff was nice and helpful
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location and amazing value for money. The buffet breakfast is good and to be honest the same as you would get in a 3/4 star chain hotel. The bedroom decor is a little dated but big beds, clean and lots of hot water, at the price though they are very good.
Cons: Not really a bar area and as it was early season the only seats were outside and it was just too cold.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The residential mares is in a perfect position over looking the river but still quiet position. Very good value for money and clean with a comfy bed what more do you need for a short stay.
Cons: Nothing to report
7.1 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Beds were TERRIBLE!

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect for those looking peace and silence in beautiful countryside surroundings. You are surrounded by orange groves. You can rent free bikes from hotel to cycle to Cabanas de Tavira (7min cycle) or even around orange groves. Delicious breakfast full of local and homemade produce (jams and cakes, fresh orange juice). Pretty swimming pool (did not swim as it was too cold in October but sunbathed by it). 10 min drive from Tavira where you can get ferry to Isla de Tavira (stunning long beaches).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were as friendly and hospitable as possible. The hotel was extremely clean and well run.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful location on an orange grove. Out of Tavira itself but free bikes, a lovely easy cycle through country lanes to nearby Cabanas which has lovely restaurants. Staff really friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved the setting of the Quinta in the middle of the orange field, secluded but very close to the sea and Tavira! The staff is amazing and so friendly, welcoming and at the same time “guarded” to give you space on your vacation. An absolute plus are also the cute dogs that are well trained to not bother you but giving the whole accommodation an additional personal atmosphere. We also enjoyed the awesome breakfast every day and the best fruits and orange juice source ever. We booked a studio to be able to prepare some meals whilst our stay with some local beverages from the Portuguese Markets and we loved the space terrace to sit outside (if you do not book a studio, you mostly use the rooftop terrace/outside area which is not private but also beautiful!!). We went here to spend 10 days for our “Babymoon” in calmness and discover the eastern Algarve after exploring the Western Algarve a year before. The setting is great to visit various sandy beaches and islands and also cities such as Tavira, Faro, Olahõ, Loulé etc. who are all very different and stunning. Around the hotel you find some great restaurants in walking distance, either in Cabanas are also in the close by village Conceicão. The hotel has a list with great restaurant recommendations in the area. We will definately come back to Quinta dos Perfumes and wish that a lot of people explore this place that sets itself apart through the great concept of agriculture from a lot of small hotels in the area. After leaving the hotel as the “last guests” in the middle of the Covid-19 crisis in March we hope, that the owners and staff will welcome a lot of guests later in the year again and keep up the great concept for a lot more people to enjoy. Thanks so much for making our stay so perfect!

10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing. We were very pleased.

Pros: Everything else. Very clean, very unique, good location, friendly owner.
Cons: No elevator especially for an adults only (potentially elder clientele) facility.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great pool area for relaxing, fantastic view of bridge designed by Eiffel and Sebastian was a good host. Enjoyed balcony view over the river.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pool area is superb. Random art a joy. Detailed design and thought in everything.
Cons: All very good. Our room was a little dark but perfectly acceptable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First, the owner, Sebastian could not be kinder or more interesting. Our room was very artistically decorated with bold colors and the owner’s own artwork. We enjoyed two very comfortable night’s sleep on the excellent mattress. There was plenty of storage for our short stay. We liked being close to the center of town and we especially enjoyed the lovely view of the river and the train trestle from our balcony. We were not disturbed by the trains, as they did not seem to run very late at night. Although no breakfast is offered the room has a refrigerator and hot pot so that worked very well for us. It was great being just around the trestle supports from an excellent restaurant where we enjoyed two dinners and one lunch. If we were earlier in the year, we could have used the absolutely beautiful pool and hot tub. The entire outdoor area is very relaxing with lush landscaping and nice patio areas.
Cons: For older guests with any mobility issues, like arthritic knees, the stairs are challenging. We made it work with Sebastian’s assistance. But, next time we would ask for a room on the lowest floor possible. Those younger guests who are okay carrying their suitcases up multiple flights would be fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location with just a short walk to the town centre. An oasis of green from the delightful garden. We enjoyed the pool.
Cons: Nothing. The railway was never a problem.

Pros: My recent stay at Casa do Rio was absolutely splendid in every way! The location was great, facing the river and just a few minutes stroll along the river into the heart of town. My room with balcony, was spacious, immaculate, and delightfully decorated with the owner's own artwork. Sebastian, the hospitable, friendly inn owner/artist, is extremely accomodating and attentive. I adored this inn for its serentity and peacefulness, enhanced by a cooling salt water pool. The gardens surrounding the pool area and grounds are lush and so pretty. Thank you, Sebastian, for such a fabulous holiday!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A little piece of paradise set just outside a lovely Portuguese town....what more could you ask for? Tavira is a beautiful small town with some amazing places to eat. The beech is beautiful.....a short ferry ride away. But Casa do Rio was the cherry on top. Better than the beech, you could relax beside a beautiful pool, with only a few other (adult only) guests for company. It was so relaxing and peaceful, if you need some time to recharge your batteries this is the place for you. The only downside was a noisy train once an hour...but even that became a feature after a while...!

Pros: Wonderful place. Wonderful location if you have car. Excellent breakfast. Lots of space.

Pros: We had eight days at this lovely guesthouse. The hosts were warm and welcoming. The room was clean, new and with an impressive private terrace area. Breakfast was always fresh and nice. The two resident animals (cat and dog) are charming additions to a really lovely stay. Thought for ages about a downside and all we could only come up with 'it would be nice to have a kettle in the room' but that's it. Utterly charming holiday spot.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property was beautiful and immaculately maintained. The gardens, courtyard, and just the overall vibe was wonderful. The breakfast is very well put together with many options. It goes well beyond the ol' bread and cereal standard breakfast. There was fresh fruit, breads, cheeses, meats, yogurts, cereals, scrambled eggs, cakes, fresh juices, and more... all in a very inviting breakfast room. Every detail is considered. The property is very relaxing, as we enjoyed some down time around the pool and property at times. The hosts mother was very kind and always helpful (the daughter / host was away while we visited). We enjoyed the pets on the property also. Also, a shoutout to the kind woman who helped with breakfasts in the morning. She was very friendly and warm, which was very much appreciated. In terms of our room, it was very well appointed. It was an ideal size with a big bathroom (which was a welcome sight after traveling for a couple weeks through Europe). It was very clean and smelled very nice. Lastly, they were very kind to put together a breakfast and leave it in a small fridge for us for the morning of our departure, as we left very early to make the drive to Lisbon for our return flight. Details and kindness like this made our stay very enjoyable!
Cons: The property is an oasis, no doubt. The only minor thing that some may want to consider, the property itself is just on the outskirts of Tavira. It is very close, maybe 8-10 minute drive to a parking lot on the edge of Tavira. This wasn't a big issue for us. However, there were evenings we didn't feel up for taking the car into town, finding a parking spot, and then walking into town to find dinner. We did utilize the market down the street to take some goods back to the room. Though, we had limited options with no kitchenette or means of warming something up. Again, this wasn't a "dislike" per say; however, something to share in case others prefer to have easier means of walking to food or having it easily available where they are staying. Lastly, small detail, but the breakfast window is narrow - 8:30 to 10:00. It seemed to start a bit late to us, especially for days we were planning on getting an early start to go exploring in farther beaches or towns along the Algarve. These are both small details, as neither deterred from our overall enjoyment staying at this property. We would recommend Quinta Almargem Lusitano.

Megan and Vladimir (that’s us)will be back! ...and we’ll recommend to our friends to stay here.

Pros: Very helpful staff. Comfortable well designed room. Good position. Unusual half board selection. Very reasonable price.
