Pros: The breakfast was amazing and the entire place was furnished with a lot of taste! the location with its surrounding is just beautiful and relaxing. Definitely a place to highly recommend!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Agritourism at its finest! There's such a need for more properties like this. The two days we spent here were magical. We walked around the orange groves with our toddler, learned a bit about local flora, rode bikes into and around Cabanas in the evening for dinner, watched the sun set over the orchard, and painlessly reached nearby Tavira and Praia Verde by car. The staff are warm, knowledgeable, and kind. This is yet another property in Portugal that we'd happily stay at again.
Cons: The pillows, which were quite uncomfortable for us however this is such a subjective complaint so please don't let it dissuade you from staying on this magical property!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is impressive. Always helpful, always available, always with a smile. The place itself is absolutely beautiful. Rooms are great - we stayed in one by the pool. If you like walks through oliveiras , figueiras and other beautiful scenery to get to the beach - the beautiful Cabanas de Tavira - that is certainly the place to stay.
Cons: Nothing noted.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location in the countryside but close to beaches
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice environment. Close to Cabanas. Complimentairy use of bikes. The staff was super!
Cons: Rooms on the lower floor can be bothered by noise from upstairs rooms.
9.3 Excellent
Cons: No bathroom/changing room near swimming pool
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very happy with the whole experience, the Quinta was really beautiful, breakfast was delicious with fruit from their own garden and homemade cakes. The staff was really amazing and accommodated all of our requests and preferences - we had to arrive really late (after midnight) because of our flight time and they were there with a smile waiting to let us in. The area itself is beautiful, quiet and relaxing at that time of the year.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. You are close to the beach and can use bikes from the hotel to get there. Such a relaxing place!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Only 15 rooms
Cons: I think cold drinks, tea/coffee and small snacks should be available throughout day complimentary for the price
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, tranquil and contemporary. The staff are warm, friendly, helpful and full of local tips. The breakfast exceeded expectation and the dogs were a bonus :) The jams are everything.
Cons: There was nothing that I did not like, however maybe they could do a once a week dinner service option as the breakfast and lunch is fresh, organic and yummy there.

Pros: What a beautiful place and location. We felt so relaxed and at home at this Quinta, only about a 5 minute drive to Tavira. The property is stunning and so well taken care of. Every little detail is paid attention to. We will be back for sure and would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in a peaceful, beautiful location in the Algarve. Their dog Mel is also a bonus - such a cutie!

Pros: Lina welcome is so great, her property is very comfortable, the garden is beautiful. Great breakfast ! Everything has been done to make our stay very pleasant.
Cons: Everything is perfect !
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had such a lovely stay at Almargem Lusitano. The breakfast in the courtyard every morning was a plus - take your pick of healthy foods or sweet Portuguese cakes. Lina, her husband and the staff were so warm and welcoming. They gave us suggestions for what to do in the area or further out. We also loved the pets, the sound of the birds, the flowers and relaxing by the (very clean) pool.
Cons: We wish we had a car to get to Tavira centre for meals. They lent us bikes though which was very kind, and we relied on cabs to get around.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly nice location, calm and beautiful. Owners are very helpful, and the lovely dogs just add a plus to this place.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, super close to tavira and supermarkets, although you need a car obviously. The staff is exceptional, the rooms are cleaned and tastefully decorated. You really feel at home. The pool area is really pleasant, and also the terrace if you want to spend some time during the evening. Perfect for a couple of days with family or friends.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The environment, the staff, the commodities, it made us feel like home.
Cons: The shortest staying... we should stay longer...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous old building, staff couldn't be nicer, Beautiful location. Sun terrace so lovely, like stepping back in time, highly recommend
Cons: Ferry not running yet from doorstep so had to walk 2km or get a taxi.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location by the river; many restaurants nearby. Loved the patio for breakfast and the rooftop sun terrace. Room was spacious, comfortable, and had lots of closest/storage space; bathroom was well-fitted. Optional breakfast was excellent; loved the changing daily assortment of wonderful Portuguese breads and pastries.. Would definitely recommend hiring a bike and visiting Barril Beach (especially to see the anchor graveyard) and Sta. Luzia for a wonderful seafood lunch. Easy 7km ride.
Cons: On-site staff speak little or no English, but the manager was always available by phone, if needed. Not the guesthouse's fault, but the in-town ferry service to the beach (just steps from Casa Beleza) hasn't been operating for quite a while. It's a 1.2km walk to the other ferry location; flat and not a big problem, just not as convenient.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, very stylish place, like a boutique hotel. The breakfast on the wonderful rooftop terrace was also fabulous. And don't worry: Even though you can't park at the place for longer, you can drop your bags and then park your car in a nearby free public parking lot, about a 3min walking distance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Paola is a great engaging host made us feel very welcome the location couldn’t be better close to everything in tavira rooftop patio is such a great space to eat breakfast or to enjoy the stars after a busy day
Cons: The only thing that would have been better is if we would have stayed more than 4 days it’s that enjoyable for our time there nothing could have been better Paola is doing it right
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the most creative (and delicious) breakfasts I've had in a long time. A pleasure to see, and to eat.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Great location!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful apartment in an excellent location - we couldn't have asked for more. The traditional architecture and decor is so lovely and has such a comfortable atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome. The roof terrace is wonderful with views across Tavira. We'd love to go back!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Authentic loads of space in the mosaic suite
Cons: Lack of smoke detectors or fire extinguishers
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Large comfortable suite with everything we needed. Cleaned and tidied every day. Lovely roof garden for relaxing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the old style shabby chic decor of this old townhouse, which has been very sympathetically restored by its architect owner. The location could not have been better, at the quieter end of Tavira with some very good restaurants nearby. In particular we loved Joao Belhi Cine Nostalgia Restaurant, which seems to be a favourite of the locals with its simple decor but superb fish and seafood, try the sardines, some of the best we have had and we live in Spain so its a favourite of ours. Good wifi, and luxury soap and lotion in the bathroom together with fresh ground coffee were nice touches.
Cons: Nothing, we liked everything
4.3 Okay
Pros: The Rustic Style, privacy. Very beautiful decoration.
Cons: The duplex only had one heater and was very cold in November, no additional blankets also did not help. Gate very difficult to open. The internet was not wireless and the cable was to short to allow the use of the pc comfortably. But I would recommend as these issues can be solved easily.
Tavira House - Tavira - Building
4
9.2 Excellent (757 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located inside the walls of Tavira this stylish boutique accommodation is set in a 160-year old building.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved Paula and Manuela
Cons: Didn’t book bougainvillea suite in time
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The beautiful restored old house has a wonderful decoration. I loved the mix decor, a bit portuguese, morish, art nouveau and modern. The living room and dining rooms are just amazing. The rooms are surprisingly large (I stayed in a suite), and the bed linen, as well as the towels are bright new, soft and refined. The house has just 9 rooms and it feels you are almost al home. Patios and terrace are so relaxing... The house is located in a very quiet street but next to the centre of Tavira. Paula and the rest of the staff were very nice and warm. I loved the very good breakfast in the patio or in the dining room. This is the kind of hotel that makes you long for more and more travelling.
Cons: Nothing!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house close the city centre , staff very kind and friendly . The room was clean and comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The design of the house is elegant, thoughtful and comfortable. We stayed in two different rooms –we extended our stay because we enjoyed the house so much– so we got to experience two different rooms. Both great. The location was perfect, away but close to everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow, taverna house is something special ❤️ The ambience, the welcome, staff, rooms, breakfast was excellent and couldn’t recommend the little gem enough. I don’t want recommend as we would like to keep this place secret
Cons: There is nothing not to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Delightful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar system is a nice addition to feeling more at 'home'. We really loved the location and the decor of the hotel was done with attention to detail.
Cons: The breakfast was quite 'standard' and less bijoux bed and breakfast than hoped eg with warm bread and fresh eggs. We were given just one sort of dark brown bread for example. A small detail but seemed not to fit with the rest of our experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, right in the historical town of Tavira. Staff were very attentive and friendly. :)
Cons: All good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful breakfast and helpful staff!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent stay! Beautiful patio, great double shower bathroom!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast and the lovely staff
Cons: Poor room, broken sink, uncomfortable bed, no English channels on TV. Ok we don’t holiday to watch Tv but always good to catch up on daily news in UK as with most accommodation these days. Difficult on street parking.

Pros: We loved our stay at Monte do Alamo. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The breakfasts every morning were great. The location, just outside Tavira, was perfect. We had dinner with the hosts one evening which was wonderful. They also organised a picnic hamper for us one day and offer a weekly yoga class which we took part in. We also loved their dogs!
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness and attention to detail of Rosario and others was exemplary
Cons: It suited us fine
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, super friendly staff, organic food. Staff helped a lot with telling about surrounding and places to go
10.0 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Locations, staff, breakfast and view.
Cons: The bed was a little to hard for me, but that’s because I have a sore back at the moment.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the view from the house, the delicious breakfasts, the staff and sitting under the stars. Rural property close to town. We were welcomed and took advantage of the beautiful dinner on offer. Fresh baking and smells from the kitchen were amazing.
Cons: Beds a little hard. Missed having a small fridge. Would be nice to have self serve coffee from a pot in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the serene location and fantastic amenity of this accomodation. The staff and food was excellent and we would not hesitate to recommend this property to others.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rosario and Luis are the best people in the world! breakfast, room service, dinner with the guests, the sky full of stars, everything is perfect. Really one of the best hotels in the Algarve.
Cons: Nothing, everything is perfect!
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is ideal for people enjoying a peaceful and green setting, with lots of trees and bushes on the property. The view of the surroundings from the property was very charming. Staff was friendly. The room we booked was facing Tavira, which is marketed as one with a sea view. The room we had was comfortable and not too small. The bathroom to our room had a tasteful and practical design. I enjoyed the company of the two dogs living on the property, one of them being very cuddely and sweet. The breakfast consisted of fresh products, offered on a lovely terrace. They have a great common living room, which is cosy and inviting.
Cons: The matrasses we had were very hard. We understand that there is a tendency in Portugal to use hard matresses, but the ones we had in our room left us with back pains and were the less comfortable we had during our two weeks stay in southern Portugal. In our view, the breakfast offered is targeted at travellers eating a sweet and small one. The concept here is no breakfast buffet, but rather an individual serving. There is a basic serving, everthing else needs to be asked for seperatly. There is generally no meat in any form being offered, apparently because the wasps would be too attracted by it. But aren't wasps also very much attracted by marmelade and sweet stuff, which were available for breakfast? Quantatively spreaking, the breakfast was in our view not sufficient. The quantity of bread offered is kept low. One can ask for more, but the extra serving is kept at an absolute minimum. The pieces of cheese offered is kept at one or at most two pieces per person. Asking for more is also allowed, but the result is also very thin. Altogether, we simply had the feeling that we should be happy to get good ingredients, but we should also be happy with the basic serving. The breakfast experience at Monte do Alamo we had was peculiar, because we booked different accomodations in the Algarve including breakfast, and none were by far as restrictive on the breakfast as Monte de Almo, although this was the most expensive accomodation we booked. Our room should have a "sea view". Well, the room we had was indeed facing the sea, but in the end, we had to look hard for a glimpse of the sea between the leafes of the many bushes and trees in front of our terrace. Other spots on the generous property offered a splendid sea view. I also unfortunatly need to stress the pool, which was in our eyes not very clean at the time we were there. Rosario sent us instructions on how to get the property. Those were in Portugese though, no feedback to my request.

Cons: Just not everything was ready. Ther were some works on a terrace. Not to disturbing!
6.4 Good
Pros: I liked the fact that it was near Tavira and yet quiet. Also, it so a fair distance from my favorite beach, Cacela. My room was big and quite comfortable, and the bed was wonderfull. The bathroom was also very nice
Cons: I think they really need to improve the acess road to the hotel and I would have liked a pool. Also, I think the surrounding garden needs some improvement
7.6 Good
Pros: Very peaceful place but near of Tavira.
Cons: The acceses to the hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rural setting and relative closeness to Tavira for restaurants and bars
Cons:

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bedrooms were very spacious and so were the bathrooms. The staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast with fresh homemade and regional products. Large rooms with comfortable beds and everything very clean. Great landscape view, good pool, near the beach and restaurants, you only need to have a car. Very kind and polite staff.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the attention of our hosts and the delicious food we were served, as well as the rustic outdoor countryside, which reminded us a lot of our country.
Cons: Roads are very narrow, so do not drive too fast around potential blind spots.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful surroundings, lovely pool with views of the hills. Close enough to get to the beaches and hills beyond. Only 30 minutes from Faro and 90 minutes from Seville. The staff were all extremely helpful and had a host of insider knowledge to help us make the most of our visit to this beautiful region of Portugal. Would highly recommend.
Cons: Loved everything about the property. The only downside is that due to its peaceful location, it is accessed by narrow winding roads. A little unnerving if you haven't driven a left hand drive car for a while.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. From the first minute to the last. Great staff, great food, great location. A paradise. Really quiet. I wish I could have stay longer.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the perfect place to stay, lovely and clean, relaxing and great hosts
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet place with very good and spacious accommodations. The bathrooms are very large and well maintained. Breakfast is excellent with very good choices for people of all dietary wants.
Cons: The lower road is somewhat dangerous as there really is only space for a single car if driving an SUV. Even for a regular size car, it's a tight fit for two cars. The upper road entering through the village of Marco is safer and better maintained. WIFI is not available in the rooms , only in the area by the main reception/dining room building.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: location was superb -just the right feeling of remoteness. great, large pool just outside our room was a bonus. we enjoyed talking with one of the breakfast staff, Mergurida, in particuler

Pros: Location
8.3 Excellent
Pros: top class breakfast... something for everyone... fresh fruit / continental breakfast / or full Irish if you wanted that / Coffee good
Cons: No milk in the room to make tea We booked half board but wont do that next time as only a handful of people eating at night so too quiet
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was as described expected
Cons: The Hotel is understaffed on the Bar service especially at the pool. The few available have to work under lot of pressure and you can expect delays and poor service. Workers not to blame but the management...
7.0 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: Considering the price, expected a more modern deco
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location.
Cons: The refrigerator in the room was not working well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location with only a short walk into the town centre. Lovely breakfast and dinners with lots of choice. Staff friendly and attentive. What we both really loved about this hotel was how peaceful and relaxing it felt. There were plenty of sun loungers for everyone who wanted one! Really impressed and will definitely be back.
6.8 Good
Pros: The large pool and the breakfast. The beds were comfortable and the rooms had a nice balcony and area to dry clothes on the balcony.
Cons: The staff both during breakfast and at night on the rooftop bar were not the best. Breakfast staff were often miserable and seemed disinterested with guests. One morning I had no cutlery on my table so I asked for some from a waiter. He told me to go to the buffet table and get my own. His job was only to clear the tables. Given we were paying around 1000 euros for a week, I expected more. If you didn't authorise a card when you arrived then the roof top bar staff ask you to pay before you even take a sip of your drink and stand there and wait while you get cash or a card out. This is totally impersonal and ruins the relaxed atmosphere. Given that most people are guests, they could give you the option to charge the room or you pay when you leave. Little touches like having to ask for bar mats or to have some nuts/crisps let it down as they could ask if you wanted these when they bring your drinks or do it automatically. Overall it's a great well lit space with nice views but it could be made more comfortable with cushions on the outside furniture.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great everything - close to town. nice staff, nice pool bar/restaurant area.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Very good breakfast. Hotel provides some very nice entertainment like live piano at the breakfast (during weekend) and barbecue around the swimming pool. Friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend this hotel.
Cons: Pillow (could be a better quality) and soap (could be bigger). Improve cleanliness at the room (vacuum the beach sand at the room floor). But overall everything was fine, these are just small details that the hotel could improve.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff and facilities were wonderful. Felt like I was staying with family.
Cons: The twin beds were very uncomfortable.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the building & the history around it. It had a calming atmosphere & was a relaxing place to stay.
Cons: When you order food - lunch & dinner, I like to get my drink to start, but here, it takes a while. You need to have lots of time. I had dinner one night & I ordered a bottle of wine & main course & waited 25 mins approx or maybe longer & my wine did not arrive until my main course!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent efficient, friendly and helpful Staff in all areas but especially Reception and Restaurant Staff. Food was outstanding at Breakfast and Lunch. Nothing was too much trouble and all of our wants were catered for.
Cons: There was nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful convent in the heart of Tavira. Only a few minutes walking to everything. Nice pool for relaxing in the evening. Wonderful staff! Bathroom was updated and had a great shower. Our kids room was in a new section and had a balcony. Excellent breakfast included! We will stay here again.
Cons: My only complaint is that we stayed in a suite in one of the older sections of the building and it was a little dark and furniture was a little worn. Like everywhere we have been in Portugal, the beds are on the firm side, but we slept well.

Pros: Brilliant beautiful little inn very welcoming and friendly atmosphere The garden is lovely with great pool We will return next year Fantastic time Thankyou Sabastiano
Cons: Perfect would not change a thing brilliant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Host was super-nice, very nice salt-water pool and lovely landscaping. Lovely river view and easy walk to town center and ferry to island. Highly recommended!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Tavira Inn. We particularly loved the saltwater pool and terrace, which was just lovely. Yes, the property is located right next to the railway bridge, which does cause some noise, but it really only lasts for 3 seconds and trains only pass by once every 30 minutes or so (from approx 9am-11pm). The town centre is a 5 minute walk away and is full of lovely restaurants, bars and cafes.
Cons: Although there was a sense of privacy at the guesthouse, sound travelled quite far between the rooms - we could hear our neighbours at times. However, it didn't bother us massively.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is a very nice person. He didn't have any problems with our late check in.
Cons: I didn't find the WiFi password anywhere.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I loved the boho decor and peaceful setting. It's a wonderful place for reading, writing, and reflection. The saltwater pool is great. The location makes it easy to walk into the old town instead of trying to find a parking place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is really cool in a sense of architecture/design, very cosy, it s near the city centre, there is also swimming pool...
Cons: You can hear some trains passing by. But no big deal...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host, Sebastio, is an absolute delight and he has transformed his home into a little oasis. The pool is glorious, a short stroll to town, and the decor and hospitality is unique and charming. Don’t miss this gem if you are in Tavira.
Cons: Absolutely nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Loved the quirky, arty design. Great pool, great welcome, very friendly. We could come and go all day, just three minutes from town so you’re close to everything. The train is overhead but stops running between 10.30pm and 7.30am
Cons: There are no facilities apart from a room and a pool. The website calls it an “inn” but there is no breakfast or bar available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, just outside of all the main action of Tavira. Beautiful guest house, with really relaxing pool area. Very friendly staff.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant service, staff were helpful. Food was great. Close to all beaches. Clean and exceeded expectations
Cons: Better quality pillows but that didn’t matter, that’s my preference only .
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff were lovely
Cons: The aircon in the room didn’t work and we weren’t allowed to cancel our second night despite not sleeping a wink. Breakfast was in a crowded and stuffy room upstairs instead of the lovely new terrace downstairs which is in the photos of the dining area - v misleading. Also the worst coffee I’ve ever had - ‘special coffee’ ie a latte wasn’t included in breakfast and when it came it was milky water with 2 inches of whipped cream on it! Totally bizarre The beds have papery odd bedding that crunches - not what you expect for 190/ night.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely lounge, bistro, pool and well kept rooms. Welcome gift of some fresh strawberries a great touch. Stayed there 3 years ago and hotel still as fresh and spotless as it was on our first stay. Breakfast also really great. Highly recommended!!
Cons: Location a little tricky to get into Tavira if you have no car. Best budget some extra €€€ for the short cab fare, but only around 7€ in a 7 seater to the Roman Bridge
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel staff were so nice! Room was perfectly cleaned every day fresh towels. Lunch menu was nice wasn’t keen on dinner menu! You need a car if your wanting to get out and explore 2 km from Tavira and 2km from cabanas! Pool was extremely cold plenty of loungers! Breakfast was plentiful and lots of selection!
Cons: Pool was freezing cold
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The kindness of the personnel. Excellent breakfast, with an enormous variety of choice for fruits, cheeses , juices etc. Big rooms and Avery nice shower.
Cons: The DJ by the pool on Sundays from 5pm to 9 pm. Disco music at that time of the day by the pool, when people are trying to relax, reading or just lazying around, it is not just suitable . One did not even want to dine at the restaurant which overlooks the pool area because the noise of the beat just put us off, so loud was it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great quiet and relaxing vacation hotel. The buffet breakfast has an amazing terrace view and the food is very good. Would stay there again for sure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast, a lot of choice.

Pros: The rooms are very comfortable, well decorated and the staff are friendly.
Cons: It is too close to the main road. The breakfast is a little confusing if the room is full and have to wait for refills.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds excellent a la carte food great value for money excellent facilities for kids.
Cons: Need to drive to nearby Tavira although courtesy bus operates during the day
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The children’s club, the grounds, the swimming pool and the food. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: Didn’t receive a pleasant arrival. Think that the receptionist needs some customer service training. There were several issues, one our fault. Didn’t know that we needed our passports - did have copies on our mobiles Problem with the rooms requested She caused extra stress instead of finding solutions.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Food, location, staff.
Cons: Drinks are expensive.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The complex was of very high standard cut off from all external disturbance, every thing needed was at complex, the ferry to Ilha Tavira was ideal.
Cons: Nothing to complain about
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is close to Tavira beaches, it is quiet due to its remoteness. The management was responsive to my criticism. Nice pool and territory
Cons: When we ordered dinner a la carte in the hotel's restaurant, the manager told us that we could eat only inside, whilst we wanted to sit outside. I wrote a complaint to their website and the manager met with us and promised that this wouldn't happen again. We we offered free coctails from the regular menu. The hotel is about 5 km from Tavira historical city center, and we commuted every evening to enjoy city night life by bicycles we booked for 15 Euro each through the reception. I would rather stayed in the city, as there are ferry boats to Tavira beaches for only 2 Euro roundtrip (originally I booked this hotel due to its proxomity to the beaches). The hotel offers ferries for 3 Euro roundtrip, although it is a shorter trip to the beaches in a comfortable private boat. Water was very cold to swim in Tavira beaches
8.3 Excellent
Pros: location, breakfast, pool area
Cons: Too many children
6.3 Good
Pros: Parking was plentiful
Cons: Had we not hired a rental car we would have been stuck at this resort as it's a long way into Tavira (and to explore the rest of the Eastern Algarve). I thought the daily cost of the boat trip to the beach/es was a rip-off as was the hiring of umbrellas and loungers on the beach. I thought the buffet dinner was ludicrously expensive (and if we hadn't had a car we would have been trapped). There was very little engagement between guests and staff. If I were the hotel I would have supplied a list of places, interesting things to do, how to maximise our time in the Algarve, etc. There was none of this - if anything, the attitude was "that's too far to go" for a trip less than an hour away!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location, the surroundings and the staff
Cons: Menu is somewhat limited
8.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was superb, free toiletries the program said, I suggest you don,t call it that, since only fluid soap at the sink and in the bathtub.
Cons: there should have been free toiletries, as promised.

Pros: Everything was just perfect

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super quiet, relaxing break with great views. Once those big fort doors close behind you, you are in a world of tranquillity with Cecilia on hand to ensure that you have a great stay.
Cons: It is made perfectly clear upfront - breakfast aside (great by the way), there is no catering or formal bar in the fort. There are many bars & restaurants 10 mins walk away. Bring a torch for the walk home in the dark.
6.3 Good
Pros: The fortress is an impressive building. Cecilia is a very welcoming host. Breakfast was simple and good. Amazing coffee.
Cons: There is no direct access to the beach, you have to go to Cabanas and face the crowds to get the taxiboat. There is no meals service available in the fort, you have to drive to Cabanas to have dinner in jammed restaurants - this spoiled the quietness we were looking for. Some bedrooms have no AC which is not acceptable. Bedrooms are poorly furnished: it lacks a coffee/ tea pots even a trash bin is lacking. Mattresses should be better as the bed linen and pillows- standard should definitely be raised. Toiletries are minimal hairblower not available. Lacks information about the fortress. This is a place with a huge potential to provide singular & unique experiences but it needs more imagination and professionalism.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the fort was wonderful - from our host Cecilia to the room and the fort itself. The location is spectacular and in a great position - just a short walk along the beach to a long boardwalk of restaurants with lots of choice and great cuisine. The fort gave us a very relaxing few days. Sitting by the pool under an olive tree up high on the ramparts was so soothing. Breakfast each morning on the ramparts facing the sea made for a great start to each day. When you first walk through the massive wooden doors to the fort the central courtyard offers a spectacular welcome. Cecilia creates such a warm and pleasant atmosphere - it was like staying with a friend! We can’t wait to return.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our host: Cecilia!!!! She was fantastic, she made us feel so welcome and special. The location: such a overwhelming views, the rooms are a combination of contemporary and ancient, we loved it. The facilities: to go to the beach and pass the laguna, we had a private boat...What a luxury, we felt like vip's.
Cons: 1. No air-conditioning, but hey, we were there when record temperatures of 45℃ were recorded and it was ok. 2. The presence of the owners and their family: if you go in August, there's a chance that the owners and their family are there as well. They are quite invasive and make a lot of noice. Suddenly, the quite magical space transforms into a holiday kids club. I would advise travellers to check upfront and avoid those moments when the owners family is there. I would also advise the owners/facility not to have guests when the owners family is present. 3. No facilities to eat at lunch or dinner.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place is absolutely unique located in the 17 century Portuguese fort. The landscape around the fort is very picturesque and it's only 5-10 min by boat from on of the best beaches on the Algarve coast. Cecilia, the owner, made everything she could to make our stay special and we really felt like a part of the family. In the evening just look at the sky for the biggest stars you'll ever see in your life. Overall very memorable experience and we totally recommend it to everyone!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was unique and beautiful
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The uniqueness of the location and the venue. The person who runs the hotel is superb and makes you feel like you belong and very welcomed.
Cons: The only thing I didn’t live was the bed. For me too hard although my husband liked it!
5.8 Okay
Pros: The hotel is very well located
Cons: When you pay 310 euros you expect a bit more of services and equipments(250 the rooms and 60 euros extrabeds for my 6 and 7years old kids) Its totally over priced I totally agree to pay such price Even more expensive if its worth it Honestly speaking in this hotel ... i find it totally unfair...even the breakfast was not that nice They offered us eggs the second day... You have to wait until 9 to get a coffee!.. the mini bar in the room is totally empty... etc etc When you ask price of 4 stars hotel ... it needs to follow You cant just take and not give back... Well it was very disappointing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: very unique boutique hotel inside a fort. Access to town by beach or gravel road. need a ferry (2Euro) to get to best beaches on local islands
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a gem! Unique, beautiful designed and adopted for hotel. Location and staff - Cecilia - perfect host full of positive energy and attitude. Thank you very much, we will come again for sure!

Pros: Hotel is right on the riverside, in the historic centre, near the ferry to the delightful Tavira Island, and amid lots of restaurants and cafes. Very comfortable for a 3-night stay. The roof terrace is a good place to get away and have interesting views.
Cons: Breakfast coffee from a machine, and I tried three types, was never drinkable - a shock when in a culture devoted to excellent coffee.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming and helpful staff and nice restaurant. The room was big and bed comfortable, good airco.
Cons: The coffee during breakfast was a disappointment, Portugal serves very good coffee and this was bad.

Pros: An outstanding place; great rooms, excellent food, warm welcome and much helpfulness from Sophia; it may be the best place of its type we have ever been at. Everything was perfect.
Cons: The internet needs upgrading
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent - nothing to much trouble , they were all so lovely! Such tranquility here
Cons: Doors in room were a little difficult to open
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff are amazing, the property and surroundings are beautiful and peaceful - would highly recommend booking this! Oh and the breakfast is great too - fresh fruit from the garden every morning.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: The stay was totally disappointing. There were 2 massive dogs running around inside and outside the property during the day and the night - can you imagine the noise of barking after midnight!! We did not complain about it and just decided to accept it. However!... We had a 2 year old with us and throughout the stay and our child cried (not real cry - more like a moan) approx. 5 min in the morning as we were getting ready in our room for the breakfast - (Although slept through the night without a sound- despite the barking dogs!. We were out of the premises throughout the entire previous day - so the only bit of noise I am talking about was literally the time before breakfast in the bathroom). Literally only a moment later the owner and the receptionist knocked heavily on our door and had a go at us with such anger telling us that we have to control our child!!! Even giving us examples what to do to control our baby and what to do!!! And where to bring the baby if it makes noise. We packed our bags shaking and left this hell of a place immediately. We have stayed in many resorts throughout the world and we have never came across such treatment. So if you have a child, baby or are not a super dogs fan - before you decide to stay there - consider my comment above.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, elegantly furnished property in lovely gardens with olive and fruit trees. Fabulous pool area. Excellent staff. Wonderful food using fresh, local, seasonal produce.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous breakfast!! There is nothing more one could want every morning.
Cons: All was great!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Marvellous breakfast with local products, home made OJ, pastry etc. Excellent staff always willing to help and make guests feel at home. Location is idyllic and secluded - but close to restaurants and services in the Tavira areas. A very nice place to relax for a few days.
Cons: A minor hick-up: The massive greenhouses in otherwise beautiful, surrounding countryside were put up since our last visit - and it is a shame.

6.3 Good
Pros: The location and property is near a beautiful beach. The community pool and restaurant were nice. The overall grounds are lovely. It was very family friendly and convenient.
Cons: The accommodations were dark, musty and run down. The sliding back door was so deteriorated that the lock mechanism came away from the plate from the rotted wood when we opened it to let some air in. There were workers outside our window renovating the structure next door. ( The 2 structures were connected so they were literally right outside our door.) This affected noise and privacy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved having our own cottage with patio. Really enjoyed the resort like environment.
Cons: It was difficult to get to and the head office is not clearly indicated. Also finding our cottage initially was difficult because there aren’t signs indicating the numbers.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The gardens are very well kept.
Cons: Breakfast was poor: coffee was awful, orange juice was not fresh(it was mixed with some sparkling drink), bread was supermarket bread not the good traditional bread, and short selection of cheese and ham. Staff was distracted. The bathroom was smelly, showing problems with the drainage. Beds were not comfortable.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is great.
Cons: Kitchen is badly equipped. Cheap furniture (especially the table outside).
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The proximity to the barril beach
Cons: The arrogance and constant arressment from the staff. The policy about charging guests 10 euros for a card that can be used for pool and for the train to the beach. The fact that theres rats hanging around the property and houses in plain day light The non included internet access, and very week signal in the so called" areas" of service The inconsideration of other guests in the resort blocking the access for and from my house w their vehicle I don't recommend its a rip off. Plus it is no that secured, anyone from outside can walk up and The resort needs serious UPGRADES
6.8 Good
Pros: Good location, near the beach
Cons: The staff cleaning rooms nearby, early, were loud. Pulling furniture over stone floors. Quite bad/slow service in snack bar
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Check-in is at 4. I was there early and told I could probably check in at 3. At 3 I was told to come back at 4 and at 4 I was told it would still be another half hour. At that point I went to the beach and didn’t check in till 6:00.
7.5 Good
Pros: The house was nice. Great location. Beautiful beach.
Cons: The house was missing a lot of stuff such as a coffee machine and a clothes line.

Pros: We really liked the quiet location, friendly staff, and feeling of an authentic Portuguese experience. The Space in the appartment was great, bathroom and kitchen are basic but have everything needed.
Cons: Option of Air conditioning would have been great.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place offers roomy apartments, a private parking and has been an excellent stop in our journey in Algarve.
Cons: wifi was a bit far away for connecting.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very easy going, large and comfortable rooms, nice as basis to (long) walk to Fusete. Great value for money for active traveller.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Was very Nice, i would come again
Cons: There could be more stuff in The kitchen
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is fantastic, about 4 minutes drive from the centre. The pool was great and refreshing, and the apartments are equiped with the basics to provide a comfortable stay and be able to cook a meal or just breakfast.
Cons: We were a couple, but we were given two single beds. Not outrageous, or anything, but it would have been nice to have a double or a queen size bed. Also, the bathroom shower head could use some upgrade and replacement, it was old, plugged with calcarium build-up and spread water everywhere, causing a small flood on the floor, each time. There was a mop and bucket to clean up, but a simple replacement could make it great! There is no WiFi connection reaching the apartments, possibly due to poor range. There is an important safety issue to mention, to avoid a possible disaster. The apartments are equiped with a hot water boiler, the water is boiling, and some of the taps are separate hot/cold, without a mixer. If you open the hot, first, you risk a serious and severe burn!!! Careful with unnatended children, or even yourself!!! This is a safety issue that can be easily avoided, as the boiler is too hot! Thank you for your attention to this matter!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was really peace and quiet. The apartment was ok except the kitchen which was awfully furnished. The staff Annabelle and Fernanda were so helpful in everything,
Cons: The kitchen furniture was so bad that the drawers could only be opened with a big pull. The bedrooms clean and big.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a quiet location and just a 5 minute walk from the promenade and restaurants, shops and bars. The apartment complex itself was small and nicely laid out around a pool area.
Cons: There was no wifi in apartments that did not face the pool.I would have preferred a locked entrance gate. The apartment did not have an iron or a hairdryer.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The beds were comfy.Plenty of clothes hangers in the wardrobe.Good to sit on the balcony upstairs.
Cons: The apartment did not have any natural light & downstairs in particular it was always dark & you felt closed in,we sat upstairs most of the time - even at night time. The apartment was cold - we could not get the air con to produce heat which was needed at night time so you could not sit in & be comfortable. The arrangement to pick up the keys at the other side of town is ridiculous :- a) the transfer company would only take us to the location & not divert to the office for us to pick the keys up. b) Someone should show you at the premises how to get in etc,too much is left to chance. We had several people asking us if we knew how they could get to their apartment while we were round the pool, its not an easy layout so you should have someone on site.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Apartment, pool area and general facilities were both spacious and to a very high standard. I would book Cabanas beach again
Cons: Check In is at 4pm which is quite late this wasn't immediately clear when I booked these apartments and or it seemed an earlier check in could be arranged but that wasn't possible.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location and the pool were good. But having been to Cabanas before I chose this complex for that reason.
Cons: A meet and greet would be good as we wanderied aimlessly in afternoon sun with baggage trying to find our apartment. Not what you need after travelling since the early hours. We also.had to guide others who.had the same issue. One key between 3 friends who all wanted to different things.and get up.at different times. Limited beach use, travelling and sleeping due to needing to stay around or keep plans or let people in. We asked for another key but were told the cleaner needed it. The cleaner did not come to our apartment all week. Poor form. Should be stipulated on bookimg that only one key is provided. We would habe booked elsewhere had we known Also WiFi is advertised...it didn't work
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location 5 min walk to waterfront with bars and restaurants.
Cons: You had to go in and out via the basement garage as the main door locks were all broken, a bit of a pain and the sofa bed was the worst bed I have ever slept in.

Cons: Smelt a bit musty when we went in as if some one had used an old mop to wash the floors. Bathroom a bit musty too. No hair dryer and there's always a hair dryer!!! But overall good.
5.5 Okay
Cons: There was no kettle, no full length mirror , the pillows and mattress were not great.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is great, and the grounds are really kept well. I would go back 100% just not with Cabanas Gardens. There is apartments above the duplexes which i think are managed by someone else.
Cons: Arriving at cabanas gardens was a bit of a nightmare. I told cabanas gardens we had a late flight when booking via email but they seemed to not know this. They told us that they would leave a key in a key safe at there office (we'd never been to Cabanas before...), finding the office at midnight wasnt the easiest nor was the 15 min walk with all our luggage to the apartment. They told us to meet them the next day at 9am to pay the balance and were half an hour late. At first they told us that when we were leaving we needed to bring the keys back to the office, but i said i was not doing that and i would leave them in the apartment. The beds were very uncomfortable. There was a few things with the apartment which may seem slightly nitpicking but for what we paid (approx. £980 for the week) I expected more. The cupboard door was broken in the kitchen. The banister on the stairs was loose. There was a hole in the wall in the bedroom. The light fitting in the living room was hanging off. There was a sun lounger mattress on top of the bush. When we told staff their response was they know. Leaving cabanas gardens, we asked if we could extend the check out time, they said no. I asked if there was somewhere to leave the bags and they said bring them to the office. I called and explained that we were getting picked up from cabanas garden and they said we could leave the bags in the flat but we need to be out as the cleaner would be arriving. When picking our bags up 2hours later, no cleaner had been.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Not far from beach. Quiet place but you can say this about the whole city. Underground parking. Nice pool
Cons: Ceck-in - it was shock! Beforehand, you need to call and arrange to come pick up the keys. Registration time only from 16-19 otherwise you will pay 30 or 50 euros. We have never seen thing like this! Usually for late chek-in the payment may be less not more. And moreover check-out time 9-10. Company take payment for a full day with an additional fee sometimes and steal 5-6 hours from the time of stay. What is it!?? For check-in It is necessary to take the keys in another part of the city. If you are without a car, you will have to walk in the heat with luggage across the city. Bed was very, very uncomfortable and tough. Had to go to sleep on the old sofa. It was not good but not so tough. The apartment in general is not in very good condition. Wi-fi only by the pool and does not always work.
