10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful apartment right in the reservation. Movement of wildlife in the evening :) very good eating.
Cons: No entry into the ocean. Strong currents and waves
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was more or less picture perfect.
Cons: Only minus, and the only reason for not giving a full 10/10, was the spa was being renovated during our stay, which meant no spa or massage - which were some of the reasons we chose Cinnamon Wild in the first place. No info about the renovation on neither booking.com or Cinnamon Wilds own website - which is a bit unprofessional. It would have suited a four star accommodation to be upfront with this relevant information.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is in the middle of the forest, right by a lake full of crocodiles. It also has a viewing deck. There is also a beach within 3-4mins of walking time. I have never experienced such a wholesome experience.
Cons: Just the last 300 meters of the road to get to the property was unmade. There is nothing that the hotel can do about it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the jungle chalets, the swimming pool , the food was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly.
Cons: We had read previous reviews about the access road and would agree that it was extremely difficult to negotiate! We felt sorry for our poor driver but he did make it!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The choice on offer for both the buffet breakfast and dinner was quite impressive both in visual impact and choice but it was interesting that over a three night stay the quality of offerings was quite variable. It didn't seem to matter how full the restaurant/hotel was either. For the first night of our 2nd stay there was a wonderful sushi selection but the next two nights what had been left was recycled into less desirable offerings. You do wonder if instead of having such a huge choice that certainly impacts on the eye, maybe sometimes less is better ? As we were booked in on an inclusive D,B&B basis which was already paid for we didn't investigate the a la carte dining area or the B-B-Q offerings but I did not that the latter was on offer at $30 per person which when compared with the average price you'd expect to pay for a substantial meal in most restaurants was les than $10 per person but they do have a captive market. Beware! The alternatives are not there. The hotel merits it's 4* rating but it's not an exceptional 4* hotel by any means.Hence 8/10 = 4 stars whereas I can happily give 10/10 for lesser rated places who far exceed expectations. Having stayed previously I knew what to expect this time.
Cons: As mentioned in my appraisal from the previous stay a week before, the grounds are very disappointing. For the majority of visitors that probably doesn't come in to consideration, for true wildlife enthusiasts it does. Most guests appear to only stay a night or two, perhaps take a half day safari with the aim of seeing a Leopard but have little interest in most other species. What they are helping to create is an unregulated park with speeding vehicles and "leopard jams" queuing for a glimpse. Because most visitors it seems have little desire to extend their safari beyond a few hours the onus on the jeeps is to satisfy their clients as quickly as possible and the chaos will always be there.Take a full day safari and the difference is huge. The Block 1 part of the park is very quiet between the hours of 10 and 4pm, although you will be spending a couple of hours parked up on the beach having lunch.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, stylish cabanas and beautiful, well maintained grounds and pool. Friendly staff.
Cons: Checking in took a bit of time as staff initially couldn't find our booking. Low lighting in cabana.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Close to jungle
Cons: Our experience was very disappointing. We were surprised at how unhelpful the front desk staff were compared to everywhere else we have stayed in Sri Lanka. Weren’t at all interested in providing a good experience, merely fulfilling their basic role at the front desk. They acted like robots when you asked them a question...not the Sri Lankan charm we were used to! We were just a number to them. We stayed in the Jungle Chalet and it was SO DARK. The only natural light in the room came from the front door. My husband asked if we could get an upgrade considering I was 20 weeks pregnant and it was a flat NO...even thou the hotel was very quiet, following the Easter bombing and Corona virus outbreak (this is something we’d already received twice at other hotels without asking). The rooms were really angular shapes which left hardly any room to actually get changed in, I wanted to spend as little time in this room as possible. The restaurant way overpriced, because there are no other options nearby. The buffet for 1 person without drinks is equivalent to a dinner for 2 in any other nice restaurant in Sri Lanka with drinks, and quality is probably lower. Staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful as you’d expect. The safari offered through the hotel was twice the price of local operators for effectively an identical experience. This felt like a very big tax on convenience, and another example of how guests are milked for as much money as possible rather than providing value for money. A good example came at the end when we called the front desk to ask for help with the bags as we’d like to check out (paths are all gravel so suitcase wheels don’t work). A man appeared almost immediately, knocking on the door. Not to help, but to inspect the mini bar to make sure weren’t lying about having not taken anything. This was their priority throughout our stay. Overall really not happy and I want to warn people as how this is rated so highly I don’t know!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, type of room and its interiors, landscape (Small and beautiful). Rooms are very large, spacious.
Cons: SPA was average,
7.9 Good
Pros: The room was lovely, pool area was nicely kept and very clean. Location was okay. Dinner in the restaurant was brilliant but this does come at an extra cost.
Cons: Not the fault of the property but certainly impacted our stay, very very noisy one evening. Services great but lacked the personal touch, staff quite slow and a lot of them.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Big room Handy location Night time garden security Good buffet
Cons: Terrible towels Confused reception
4.0 Okay
Pros: This was one of the most expensive hotels of my stay in Sri Lanka and the most disappointing. I think people just stay here for the proximity to Yala. The Good: - the property itself looks nice. Palm trees, etc. - the staff was friendly - breakfast was OK. Most of the food was lukewarm (buffet style), but there were made-to-order eggs There are enough negatives that I can't recommend this hotel for the price point. My guest houses at half the price were MUCH better.
Cons: The Not-so-Good - the wifi on the 2nd night was awful. I couldn't even check my email. The next morning it worked better. No idea why. - the rooms are very spread out. It was a good 5 minute walk to the lobby from my room - the chairs in the lobby were painful to sit on and check-in was really slow - wifi codes expire every 24 hrs and you need one for each device. Called the 2nd night and was given 2 and told to call back in 10 minutes for the last one - water in the shower was AWFUL. Alternated between scalding hot and cold. Worst shower in the country. - only given 1 bottle of water. Everywhere else was 2 bottles. - AC never turns off....so you're basically either freezing or hot. Had to request blankets since they only give a top sheet. Took over 30 minutes to get them.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was clean, spacious, and well-kept, with manicured gardens. Staff were welcoming.
Cons: There was no flavour of Sri Lanka in this hotel. It was so generic we could have been anywhere. They were stingy with the complimentary bottled water, so we had to buy more - given the price we were paying they could have been more generous (at our previous hotel it was unlimited). Staff were friendly enough, but needed to contact the manager for even common requests such as organising a safari to Yala (the main reason tourists come here) our organising a driver for the next leg of our trip. The food was expensive and mediocre - again, for a similar price we had exceptional meals at our previous hotel. If you want a bland generic resort-style hotel you might love Chaarya. But even then don’t expect too much from the food.
6.3 Good
Pros: you can see it has the 5 stars hotel facility
Cons: service was the worst we have experienced in sri lanka, half of the staffs were not smelling, waiting time for check in or check out extreme long! spa was the worst experience , towel were so oily, massage was not professional at all!
7.0 Good
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: Reception Pool is too small
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice looking hotel with nice pool and good gym.
Cons: Breakfast and dinner were bad. Not fresh and limited variety. There was a big light shining through our room all night and the thin curtains made it impossible to block out. Shower was bad.
7.5 Good
Pros: Easily accessible for safari.
Cons: Front desk weren’t that helpful with booking a taxi. Our room was by a cleaning cupboard, so we had staff making noise and talking from 7am in the morning. Buffet is not that great.

Pros: When you are planing to go on Yala Safari or just a visit in the this area, Gaga Bees is the best place to stay! Beautifully located in Tissamaharama between rice fields, just a few kilometers from Yala National Park, the place offers you the ultimate Sri Lankan experience. Little huts are not only adorable but also very comfortable and the standard is just superb. Very good food and even better stuff. I stayed there just for one night and I know I’ll be back again! Special thanks to Supun who’s hospitality and service were top notch!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: OMG that's paradise! A beautiful stunning place between rice fields. Many birds, lizards, squirrel around the area to see, feel like nature cinema. The owner and staff are taking good care for there customer. The bungalow is big, clean, beautiful behind a small garden with a stunning few to the rice field. Also the bathroom is perfect with good shower! Swimming pool is lovely. It's indeed a place to stay for a few days and not just for a short time to go for Safari. We stay 3 nights and did enjoy every single minute. The restaurant offers great, tasty food and nice fruit juice. Breakfast is huge we did get the Sri Lankan breakfast so yummy. We sure we will come again if we back to Sri Lanka. So far best place!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is stunning, tucked away beside rice paddies. The pool was warm and a lovely place to spend sunset. They bring you a menu before dinner to ask what you would like and when you would like dinner. The rooms are comfortable with great beds and very effective AC.
Cons: Be aware that they accept cash only. We got caught out and had to go back in to Tissa for cash. The thatched roof had a rat in it which kept my friend up all night. The bathroom is enclosed but open to the elements and has a loose pebble floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great location, awesome stuff, tasty food, i definitely was so happy there! also they booked a tour to safari park for us. thank you so much, guys, we love you!
Cons: there are many insects in the room

Pros: Everything !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The people were just lovely especially the smiling man in the bar and restaurant who really understood great service and seemed to care whether everything was perfect. Oliver and his wife were very helpful and charming. The bar and restaurant area was welcoming and cocktails were excellent! The pool was one of the largest we’ve come across and the garden the best for bird spotting. The massages were great and Denzil the guide very informative helping us see lots of beautiful birds- even 3 owls in his garden. I cannot recommend this lovely hotel highly enough
Cons: Nothing - all excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and airy room. Beautiful garden. Wonderful breakfast. Great location for wildlife and birding safaris. Communication before our stay was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place, very well run by a lovely French couple. Great graphics in the common areas. Also some games to play were available. Fantastic pool, lovely room and the food was very good. We watched the chefs as they prepared our feast. Chopping up the Kota is great fun. Fried rice for lunch was super. Arranged an early morning safari to Bundala for the birds which was amazing. And then our follow on taxi. Would highly recommend.
Cons: Cocktails and other drinks were great except for the one with rum which was harsh!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extraordinarily lovely staff who go way beyond in every way!!! He anticipated our needs before we realized we needed anything! Always with a genuine smile!!! Beautifully landscaped grounds with huge deep lovely swimming pool. Balinese style open air restaurant& bar were great to lounge in. Rooms are large and comfortable. Delicious breakfast! They took care of booking safaris and transfers!
Cons: Would definitely recommend this property and love to stay here in the future
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The room was very nice, good restaurant and the staff is amazing and so friendly. The decorations are really nice and fun. The pool was perfect for hot days :). We ended up staying an extra night because we liked it so much. We would definitely come back to this place.
Cons: The only thing we can think of was that the mosquitos net was a little bit to small for the size of the bed and had some small holes, but nothing major.

Pros: Friendly staff. Bed comfy. Room clean
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The manager speaks really Good English and all staff was extremely service minded. The pool was big and we ate really Good Sri Lankan food at the hotel!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The design of the property is amazing! It looks and feels small and cozy, but is in fact quite big! The rooms are huge and have lots of space and beautiful wood details. Stunning! The bed was comfy and I slept really well. The pool area is really pretty and comes in handy after a dusty safari or just a lazy afternoon. The staff are all WONDERFUL and so helpful! I felt really comfortable as soon as I arrived and it continued throughout. I pre-ordered my dinner and had the vegetarian curry. I must say it was the best curry I have had in Sri Lanka. It was not spicy, only just very, very tasty. All in all I think this is one of my top places to stay! Thank you all for making my stay so comfortable and so easy!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: But further off from the center but the nature in the hotel gives a great feeling. Birds and monkeys all over the place. The swimming pool is really nice and calm. The possibility to have breakfast lunch and dinner in the hotel is always good as there's not much around. Like all the other hotels in the area they take care of the safari price and organisation for you (our driver was very good.)
Cons: Some strange behaviours for the dining there. When asked at what time we wanted to have dinner we answered with an approximate hour. While playing next to the dining area they told us few minutes in advance that the dinner was actually ready and we had to come now or it would get cold. We had no time to finish our game so apparently it's better if you just don't give any approximate hour to dine. In addition we sometimes had the feeling they really were checking for everything you did and consumed.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great and very attentive. The room was beautiful and clean. The bed was super comfy! My balcony was nice, it faced the pool.... And oh yes, the pool :D the pool was the best part for me. I wanted to stay an extra day just to relax at the pool more (which I wasn't able to because they were fully booked BUT they got me a deluxe room with a discounted price at their sister hotel, Hotel Elephant Eye, which was right across the road, and had a nicer bathroom, equally ok food, but slightly less comfortable pool arrangement). The pool at Hotel River Front was clean, so refreshing!, and had comfortable beds and towels. The dining area near the pool was lovely too.
Cons: The facilities and room were very clean, but somehow many ants were in my bathroom. Somehow they didn't get into my bedroom, which was good, but they were constantly in the bathroom. The food also wasn't the best and not very cheap. They didn't seem to know how to make simple things, for example I ordered a chocolate milkshake and it was really just chocolate milk. It's unfortunate because there's really nothing around the place, so you kinda must eat there if you just feel like relaxing and not traveling far for food.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is very good and friendly, manager Eranda is very helpful and nice, made sure my stay was comfortable. Room is big and clean, felt fresh. Hotel food is good, not pricy, big meals. Hotel helped with arrangements in further travels. It's a good option to stay if you are on budget and plan to visit Yala park.
Cons: Bathroom: Shower water pressure wasn't strong and water wasn't hot enough
8.0 Excellent
Pros: - We LOVED the Staff. They were so nice to us and made sure that our honeymoon was a special one. Thank you so much team! - The food was amazing too! The chef put so much passion into the food and it showed! - Yala Safari Park is not far away and they offer Safari tours at this venue. We got up close and personal with some elephants and saw a leopard :D
Cons: The shower couldn't get warm enough. Also the lack of shower curtains meant that there was water everywhere when you showered. This feels harsh, but we had a bad experience with our Safari Tour! Whilst we were used to the brazen driving in Sri Lanka, we felt like our Safari guide genuinely put our life in danger on the streets and in the Safari park. Not only was it scary for us, it must not have been good for the animals either
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Clean, big room - Nice swimming pool - Excellent food
Cons: /

Cons: Good Place to stay. Very clean and Neat
7.9 Good
Pros: Very friendly staff, clean room
Cons: At first night we had a black out in our room and nobody were available.
4.6 Okay
Pros: I liked the breakfast package the staff made for us even at 4,30 AM before our own safari tour, it was nice. Staff was kind.
Cons: The room number 01 was not good at all, it was very wet (the bathroom terribly wet with molds on the ceiling) so we had to leave the windows open all night, there were so many mosquitos we could not sleep even when using not very clean mosquito net, that did not suit the bed (being round). Nets on the windows terribly needed here. There was no blanket on the bed. In the bathroom there were two shower armatures, one with just cold water, second with just hot but slmost not flowing. We hsd to take shower in cold water. The staff had problems with english, but was kind.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was clean & tidy. Staff was very nice & friendly.. location also calm & quiet.. it's value for the price..

Pros: I like the Pool area with the rice plantation. Green with Bird's sounds
Cons: No comment
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The ambiance was very nice. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and attentive.
Cons: Food should be improved, and the variety was pretty much the same for all three meals. The kitchen staff was not very prompt in managing the mealtime rush, so the guests were kept waiting for the plates to be restored, dishes to be refilled.
7.0 Good
Pros: Our first room (deluxe) was beautiful with a stunning view out to the pool/garden. The room was clean and comfortable and nicely designed/decorated. We were very happy. Unfortunately the shower broke so we got moved room. The staff (reception, manager and restaurant) were all very friendly and obliging. They organised a breakfast for us to take on safari with us which was great.
Cons: Our second room was not as nice as our first - it seemed more worn and dated and smelled a little musty. There was no way to fully close the bathroom window.

Cons: Could be cleaner.

Pros: Every single member of staff was lovely and went above and beyond their expected duties( DAMITH,WARUSHI,PRIYANTHA). The owner ( MR.UPALI) was very friendly!,One of the great person i have ever seen and he gave us free very good dinner. They were very informative about the wildlife and nature. The view point was nice and don’t miss the evening birds show!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly helpful owner, nice food in the restaurant (where possible selected from the owner's farm nearby). Located right next to the rain trees with hundreds of fruit bats in them, who fly over the hotel's viewing platform every evening. Lots of birds in the area, water buffalo and we also saw a large water monitor lizard just over the road.
Cons: Nothing. The card machine was broken so we did have to pay in cash, but fortunately we had enough cash on us
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Western-led hotel with excellent kitchen cooking from product sourced from a local farm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great time and will stay here again! The hotel is situated at the Tissa lake, which is a beautiful and quiet place to enjoy the stunning nature with its rain trees and enormous amount of wildlife: flying foxes, parakeets, monkeys, buffaloes, ... In the evening you can also see the migration of flying foxes from the rooftop. Upali, the manager, showed us his mother's farm in the evening and later they prepared a delicious vegan vegetable rice and curry for us (with the vegetables we harvested in the garden). Then we had two cozy evenings when we came together with a few other guests and the staff and had drinks and interesting conversations in the dining room. All in all, this felt like an experience you would usually only get in a homestay. Many thanks, we'll come again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place. The owner greeted us on arrival and could not have been more helpful. The staff were very attentive and courteous. They organised a safari at very short notice and our onward transfer all at value for money cost. Highly recommend

If you planing stay here, dont forget to visit the musuem nearby. Ask the staff. They know. Just 300m away. You will learn lots of things about sri lankan history. From 200th century. Overall had a wonderful time. Will give a 100% marks.
7.5 Good
Pros: Beds very comfortable and large rooms. Evening buffet meal very good as they use their own vegetables. Very good price. Evening rooftop flying foxes event amazing. Also Egrets coming home to roost. Location fine for safari - about a 30minute drive in your jeep. Owner was on site and extremely helpful and informative. As it’s cheap, you can just do one night here, do your early safari and move on.
Cons: Breakfast was the worst we had on our tour. Previous nights food rehashed and not that well. Lots of flies in the restaurant area. Needs a comfortable bar area. There is so much wasted space. The rooftop happy hour only had 3 drinks available from the whole list. Very near the road so not that tranquil.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice people. Rooms and hotel are perfect! The owner showed us around the surrounding. It was more than just a hotel, it was a great experience!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The food choices at the hotel were very limited and the quality of the food wasn't great. The hotel staff seem like they are trying but just missing the mark.
Cons: There's many small things that need to be improved. Overall it was OK but not what we were looking for.

Pros: The host was incredibly friendly and helpful. He organized a mechanic for our broken car and even picked us up in Tissa and still cooked us a fantastic meal late in the evening. The view from the rooms is incredible and you get a real jungle feeling in the Tree House. The place was built with love for the detail and I regret that we only stayed for one night. The host also organizes a Safari tour with a very experienced and nice guide who picks you up at the hotel.
Cons: Nothing to complain about!

Pros: Dinner was good
Cons: Not clean, not well preserved
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is key for a visit to Yala. Book the trip with the hotel. Also ask Ravi if he will becoming along as he knew all the tricks for a successful safari. AC was excellent in the rooms, so was the WiFi. Beds were comfy, very peaceful. Meals there were really nice. Service was excellent.
Cons: Showers could do with a little maintenance, however, never had a shower in a tree so don’t know the complications!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the guy here is good and honest and handsome. my boy likes the tree house.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff who were very helpful at organising a trip to Bundula (which included a packed breakfast) and our evening meal.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Everything minimalistic and dirty. Humid and hot. Coackroach in the bathroom. Lizard, cricket in bedroom. Catterpillar and ants on the bed!
7.5 Good
Pros: its good
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: That they arranged a safari pick up and trip to Yala National Park. The price seemed high for what was included.
Cons: The room was filthy. The bed had dirt and mud on the sheets. Lots of insects crawling around under the mosquito net and on the walls. The bathroom was not clean. I didn't want my things to touch anywhere. They organized a trip to Yala National Park and provided breakfast. The breakfast that is included in the 6500lkr is not palatable. I booked for 2 nights but left after 1 as the accommodation was disgusting.
7.5 Good
Pros: It’s a beautiful hotel, spacious rooms in a green area. Host welcomed us very well and arranged our Yala National park safari. It’s 10 min walk to the center, but there is a supermarket close by.
Cons: Internet was slow
7.1 Good
Pros: the hotel is located in tissa where most of the safaris start. the room was tiny but enough for 2 nights. warm water friendly owner who would arrange u a safari if you want small but nice pool
Cons: no space for clothes or something
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very accommodating and friendly owners and staff. The pool was a welcome relief post-safari.
6.7 Good
Pros: The ladies in the kitchen were nice and cooked me fried eggs and coffee for breakfast. The room had Aircon and a fan, which was refreshing in the high heat. The full day tour to Yala that the manager organised was verrrry good - the driver was very knowledgeable and the lunch was nice. The hotel gave me breakfast for the trip too. So I can't really complain - the drama with the TukTuk driver was unfortunate and perhaps revealed a more sinister side to the manager. What I paid was still good value considering the Aircon.
Cons: Not really a well equipped or cozy room (one plug, one small sqaure of very old soap). The manager apparently tried to con 3000 rupees from my poor TukTuk driver as commission for allowing him into the hotel to fetch me for a trip to Ella. Pool looked uninviting and resembled a chlorine bath with a few loungers stacked nearby. Noise from main road was noisy.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful food. Room was small but clean and good hot shower. Great value for money, accommodation and safari and packed breakfast. Within walking distance to many shops and lake.
Cons: More power points would have been handy and a bedside light is always useful.

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: When we arrived, the room wasn’t cleaned properly, hadn’t been aired for days and both the fan & ac made too much noise. The pool was filthy. In total it was a waste of money, would never recommend it.
6.7 Good
Pros: The room was nice and spacious, with quick access to the pool. Staff were very attentive through most of our stay, and even moved the WiFi closer to our room during the evenings to allow us to use the WiFi.
Cons: The pool is overcrowded with plants / greenery which makes it very difficult to chill out at the side of the pool. The bed sheets smelt very damp as if they hadn’t had enough time to dry out. The staff had agreed to do a takeaway breakfast for our safari and agreed to meet us early to give it to us! However we had to hunt the hotel to find them at 5am in the morning to be able to get our breakfast. In the end our safari guide was able to find the staff and get this for us. There was limited options for food on the set menu.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, very nice big clean room, very friendly staff!!
Cons: The pool did not look very appealing for a swim.. it was clean, but the water looked very still.

This hotel on booking has 3 stars rating which is not relevant as facilities, staff and food is absolutely amazing. We been looked after really well by Chamika and everyone else. Definitely recommend this hotel. It’s a short drive to Yala National park around 30-35 min.

Pros: Magical place with amazing hospitality ! Staff will look after you like you would not believe! We saw many animals during our Safari which is very well organised and Nisanka our driver made extra ordinary effort to find the leopard for us
Cons: everything is amazing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice location for views of the lake, but quite far from the town centre. There are a few restaurants nearby (15/20 min walk). Not much to do in the area but we only stayed one night for the safari so not a big problem. They organised a safari for us at a good price. Room was basic but comfortable, shower very good. Staff all lovely.
Cons: Very quiet location.
