Great location. Walks from the door. Food good and reasonably priced. Clean comfortable bedrooms. Welcome open fire and good bar. We will return to the Mortal Man often. Our third stay.
The bedroom wasn't ready for us when we arrived (bins unemptied) but we were upgraded to a kingsize bedroom as recompense. Thank you. The staff are very good.
Food was very god and the portion size was very good. Although I didn't have one they welcome dogs.
The price of the food was a little high. Breakfast was advertised as with the room, however this was only a basic continental breakfast, a cooked one had to be paid for, and seeing what the breakfast consisted of I personally thought it was a bit steep.
The food was amazing, the staff were lovely and the ambience was perfect
Beautiful views all round. Roaring log fires in the bar/restaurant. Friendly atmosphere. Food very good.
The room, bathroom and bed were too small for us. The drying room wasn't very efficient - could do with some racks for boots.
Great location for ambience, views and an architecture that reflects it's 17th century roots. Food was excellent with a good selection for the continental breakfast and for an additional charge, the full Cumbrian breakfast was well worth it. Evening meals, great wholesome food after a days walking.
Our particular bathroom was in dire need of a refresh. I accept that a 17th Century hotel won't have 21st century space, but I didn't expect it to still have original tiling and fittings.
