Situated to the South East of the Greek island of Zante, Argassi is one of Greece's popular tourist resorts. Not only is the town itself an interesting place to explore, but Argassi is also walking distance from Zante town itself. With its long stretch of fine sandy beach, great opportunities for watersports and wide variety of restaurants set against the backdrop of towering Mount Skopos, Argassi holidays are well-equipped for a memorable Grecian getaway in the sun.
Argassi is serviced by Zakynthos Airport and transferring to the town is easy via shuttle bus or taxi. Visitors can get around the area itself on foot, and the walk to Zante town is very pleasant along a coastal road. With a typical Mediterranean climate, Argassi has hot, dry summers and mild winters. If visitors want to avoid the crowds, then arriving in the late spring is a good option. The timezone is GMT+2.
First thing to do on Argassi holidays is head down to its glorious beach. Stretching the whole length of the resort, the beach has sand and shingle, and is large enough for it never to seem too crowded. Apart from relaxing in the sun, visitors can try their hands at some watersports here; from canoeing to sailing, there's exciting activities for all ages.
Take a walk to the Church of the Virgin Mary of Skopiotissas, one of the town's main landmarks. Built in 1624 in the shape of a cross, it is situated on the peak of Mount Skopos. Inside, visitors will find stunning wall paintings, and if the weather is clear the church can even be seen from throughout the island. In the evening, the centre of Argassi is bustling with tavernas and cafés which line its streets. The resort itself offers great amenities, such as supermarkets, bars and restaurants which serve freshly caught seafood and traditional Greek cuisine.
