9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic the view of Thorpe cloud out of the bedroom window was just amazing. The room was absolutely spotless. All staff were very polite, courteous and friendly.
Cons: The only tiny bug bear was the shower was a little cold at times but I think this was due to a temperamental shower unit. We didn’t think it was necessary to bring it to the attention of hotel staff.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was very comfy and room had good views Breakfast very good Staff knowledgeable and friendly
Cons: Room had a Jet bath but I couldn't work it ... but i wasnt annoyed enough to seek assistance - it would've been an extra treat had I managed to work it. Food excellent but for bar food, a little on the fussy side for my taste.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent. The view of Thorpe Cloud from our bedroom was special. The welcome was great.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The position of the hotel is ideal for walking and the staff are excellent.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was superb. The staff were so helpful. They even found a charger for our iPad. The location is beautiful and very peaceful.
Cons: The pillows were not very comfortable
6.0 Good
Pros: Amazing location. Lovely hot water
Cons: Pricey for quite tired decor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, great friendly staff and fantastic food
Cons: All the cancellations that they were receiving. I cannot think of a better place to self isolate with the great walks available locally
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is close to the famous 'stepping stones' and lots of other lovely countryside walks
Cons: Just wish it could be a little cheaper
8.0 Excellent

7.5 Good
Pros: Great friendly staff especially the lady serving on the bar.
Cons: Uncomfortable double bed. Food was luke warm and veg swimming in water. Breakfast kippers were cooked to destruction I was surprised they served them. Didn’t complain as there were people around and I didn’t want to cause a fuss.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was excellent....
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, great food. Good set up for groups to stay. Ideal location for alton towers
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and facilities. It was very clean and quiet.
Cons: Internet was intermittent due to weather.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely breakfast. Lots of choice. Very friendly staff.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, food and room were terrific, location is excellent
Cons: There seemed to be errors when trying to book through the pub's web site - the web site crashed at the payment stage and I never got confirmation of the booking. I suppose I should have rung to ask if there was an issue with the web site, but didn't. I tried twice on the day, then gave up. After a few days, not having received a confirmation, I booked through booking.com, and it worked as I expected. When I arrived, I found I had booked, and been charged for, 3 rooms (hence my minimum score on value for money). When I explained what had happened, I was told that they would look into it, but would not be able to do it until the next working day, and they would get back to me if there was anything they could do. So far I've heard nothing.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: staff were friendly and the breakfast was great.
Cons: Very disappointed that the bungalow/lodge we booked and paid for was already booked so they offered a smaller apartment which was not ideal as we needed the 2 bedrooms as we are a family of 5. Also we found a dead cockroach in the room my 5 year old daughter was sleeping in that gave her a scare!!!
1.0 Poor
Cons: We got phone call two days before arrival time that room we have booked over a month ago is already booked... Well, how is that even possible if we booked family room so far in advance?? We got offered two separate rooms which we declined as we especially booked Family room... So, not best experience right at the start... Very disappointing...
6.0 Good
Cons: The mattress on the bed was very soft and consequently I have now got a bad back.
7.0 Good
Pros: The service
Cons: The meals could be with being larger
7.0 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is really good, in the middle of the lovely countryside of the Peak District, but with a very good access from the A515. The hotel is practically between Buxton and Ashbourne. The staff was really friendly and nice. The onsite restaurant does not offer many options, but the ones we have chosen was freshly made and very tasteful. The cooked breakfast was also very good.
Cons: The comfort of the bed was really disappointed. The bed size was wonderful, but the mattress was old and too soft. Also, the shower needs more power. Apart from that, nothing to dislike.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good cooked breakfast included in price Very accommodating Good value for money
Cons: Room quite cold Confusion when arrived, as weren't expecting us Food in restaurant average
6.0 Good
Pros: Fine if you need a comfortable bed for the night with a good breakfast with friendly staff.
Cons: Needs a thorough renovation. Which they have apparently started in some of the bedrooms.. A la carte menu wasn't available and bar menu not fully available.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location and it's closeness to The George Restaurant at Altonsfield for Valentines Dinner
Cons: The room was cold, hotel was generally tired and the breakfast was extremely minimal in portion size. The room was very small and extremely over priced at £85 Sadly we won't be going there again
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff were very helpful and provided an additional heater when we said we were cold. The staff were very attentive and made us feel very welcome with our dog. The location is perfect right on the Tissington trail.
Cons: There were areas of mould on the blinds and ceiling. The room was very cold without the additional heater we asked for.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stay!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location in a National Trust Park surround by woodland and gardens. Great for walkers with paths starting from the front door. Well stocked bar incl non alcoholic drinks and coffee and cake options.
Cons: Food in restaurant in the YHA itself not great so I would definitely make use of the self catering kitchen next time. My shower could have been a little warmer but i survived. And,I do appreciate it's a huge heritage property run by a charity and that its costly to have perfect water heating throughout.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Little cold in the dorm
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy warm room, with all we needed.
Cons: The plug in the sink in our room was stuck, but we used the main bathroom. One of the toilets ran out of loo paper.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Even though it was remote, it was in a beautiful location. There were some excellent walks all in easy reach of the hostel. It was just a shame that the weather was the way it was. The layout was lovely. The room was big enough for all six of us, with very plump pillows and think duvets. The staff were helpful. The facilities were pleasant. The self catering kitchen was stocked with all the utensils you could need. The grounds and the building itself are gorgeous, so all well worth a visit. Especially if you are on a walking holiday.
Cons: The showers were a little bit small in order to fit everything you need in order to make sure you can get changed in there. While the self serving kitchen was excellent the space to eat was on the smaller side, and it somehow feels like those who make use of the kitchen are of lower class as we have to go down to the basement...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Historic place Beautiful Location Surrounded by amazing Nature Staff helpfulness
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great food and staff
