4.0 Okay
Pros: Position
Cons: Very basic room. Bathroom basic although new. No space for toilet bag .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All staff were very friendly
5.0 Okay
Cons: Thin walls. My neighbours set their talkback radio station alarm for 6am on the two days I stayed, and it blared for 3 hours between 6am - 9am both days. Substantially reduced my enjoyment of the stay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed and great staff
Cons: I could not work out how to get between my room and the foyer without getting wet while raining. A little more explanation so i knew which way to go
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. Developing the historic interest of this old hotel could make this place really interesting and qwirky. At the moment is just run down and shabby. It has potential to be really pleasant. Beautiful architectural features, lovely gardens.
Cons: The place is a bit shabby. Needs a bit of improvement.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Plenty of facilities at the Mercure in a great location that makes it easy to get into Civic and even more facilities. I have stayed here many times and always found it quiet, clean and comfortable.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Got an upgrade to the loft room which was sooo spacious. The grounds of the hotel are really quite pretty, and being so close to the War Memorial and the base of the Mount Ainslie walking track was fantastic.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was very good. However, the choices/variety of cereals was minimal. & the plain yoghurt was too bland and tasteless. The Bistro/bar on Thursday night was excellent - my steak was cooked to perfection and sweets were scrumsciuos. The staff were very professional
Cons: The tap in the shower was broken - Not good when you're adjusting the heat/cold temperature & the tap comes off in your hand. It could have been disastrous & Manitenance needs to be more vigilant.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great stay, comfy room with everything I needed, excellent value for money when booking last minute in an urgent situation
7.0 Good
Pros: Room was nice and cleaners kept it clean for us, grounds were very nice and staff quite helpfull

7.5 Good (10,269 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Novotel Canberra is Canberra's premium 4.5 hotel boasting an unrivalled location in the heart of the city.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Sauna was nice.
Cons: Room was old. It doesn't have to be luxurious as long as it doesn't smell like an old place. Furniture was dated. There was no mirror in the bathroom. Also, i had requested drinks on arrival like a bottle of sparkling wine for my husband's birthday, but found just a piece of cake. Staff at the bar were angry. Please fix your coffee machine. It's not great thing to hear staff complaining loudly. In stead of long black I got instant coffee. Which was actually funny. Good thing that bartender later in the evening gave a glass of sparkling at no charge to compensate my terrific coffee. Breakfast buffet was very basic. Even the sausages looked like boiled instead of being crispy and tasty. Not much choice for the price. Coffee quality was poor. There should be someone behind the bar to make drinks and coffee during break fast time. As poor waitresses were running clearing tables and preparing a la carte coffee orders. Good luck.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Cushions were hard as rocks , defiantly did not like the sink with fold out mirror - hard to brush your teeth and have coffee at same time .. disappointed in this weekend stay I’ve stayed there before but this room was just not crash hot

7.9 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms are looking a little tired and worn. Tears in the bed bases and stains on the carpet. Staff member at checkout could have been friendlier.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location was perfect - right in the middle of Canberra.
Cons: Rooms a bit dated. The bathroom vanity is not in the bathroom - that was weird.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The staff were unhelpful and in willing to extend themselves in ways that I have never come across in a hotel before. This applied to restaurant staff and front desk in particular. I was quite astonished by this. I guess they are tired of working in hospitality and consider me the problem
7.0 Good
Pros: very close to anu and great cafes

Pros: Very clean and great location
Cons: Parking - a bit disorganised.

Pros: Location
Cons: We booked for 4 adults, room only had towels, glasses, mugs, spoons and hot chocolate satchets etc for 2 people. 6.05pm we called reception for extra suppliesand they said they will organise. Called again at 7pm 7.30pm, both housekeeping and room service numbers rang then went to engaged signal. 8.17pm I went down in person to reception and the young lady was shocked that we were still waiting as she was who I first spoke to ooriginally at 6.05pm. We waited until 9pm and still no supplies. In the end I made hot drinks and washed the mugs and we just made do with what we had as we had to get up at 4.30am for our flight. This is TERRIBLE service, we regularly stay at 4.5 - 5* hotels and have never experienced such treatment like we did at Vibe. We are local Canberran's and will not recommend this hotel to our friends. Did bookings.com actually advise the hotel that there were 4 guests?

Cons: Good
1.0 Poor
Pros: Breakfast was basic Time choice good. Looked clean. Food choice ok. Hot. Toaster set to cook correctly in one go.
Cons: The whole of the apartment #3 needs gutting and completely renewing, it is simply to old and dated. The shower leaked behind the bathroom door. There is nowhere to put shower packs or cosmetics in the bathroom. There is not a comfortable couch or chair to sit and relax in. The TV is about the table and chairs making it very uncomfortable to watch. Ok if you wish to lay on the bed to view. The bed pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. Blankets only no doona. The bathroom door needs to be kept closed all night otherwise the room is lit up by the very bright outside lights.

Pros: Staying in the Giraffe Tree House is an experience that you will not get anywhere else. To be able to feed and watch a Giraffe from your room balcony is a great experience. And then you can walk out of your room and you are in the Zoo allowing you an almost exclusive opportunity to see the animals outside normal Zoo opening times. Plus you get two Zoo tours which include some behind the scene experiences.
Cons: The lack of toilet facilities at both the meeting area (lounge room) and the dinning room. 1 toilet to 42 guest is inadequate.

Canberra City Yha - Canberra - Outdoor view
10
8.0 Excellent (1,479 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Canberra City YHA - Hostel places you in the heart of Canberra, within a 10-minute walk of Canberra Centre and National Convention Centre. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and a 24-hour front desk.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Quite centric so it was easy to walk around and visit places
Cons: Very noisy location and was difficult to sleep
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was clean, rooms were large with nice lockers, plenty of plugs. The air conditioning was FABULOUS. Beds were comfortable and had a nice light for each one. Bathrooms on my floor were small but there was never an issue getting a shower, they were clean and very good pressure. Overall probably one of the best hostels I've stayed in.
Cons: Can't really fault anything, I was only there 3 nights and didn't use all facilities (kitchen and pool and even the common areas) but they seemed to be of a high standard. Only issue I had was with the lockers you can use to store your luggage before check in, took me a while to get my case out cause it kept refusing both my card and cash payment, but I did get there in the end.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the place
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: The common area on the 3rd floor was well design.
Cons: There were no power outlets in my room so I wasn’t able to charge my devices
7.9 Good
Pros: Great value for money with excellent location
Cons: Staff not so helpful.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The kitchen is pretty big. Lounge area for relaxing. Good location, close to civic and paid-parking. After 5:30 there's off-street parking near YHA otherwise the closest parking would be Target parking which charges $2 for 1 hour, 4 for 2 hours, 6 for 3 hours and $10 for 4 hours etc.
Cons: Terrible design of the bathroom. With doors banging on each other and hand dryer so closer to the sink that by just standing there you would trigger the hand dryer. Hardly any knives in the kitchen. Was reported to the reception but nothing was done about it. The bed light for individual bed in the dorm is a joke because if you turn it on at night trying to do your things, it will light up the whole room and other guests might have a problem with how bright it is and ask you to turn it off as they can't sleep. It's that bright! It's amazing how facilities like this are installed when obviously they do not work. Everyone seems to use the lift. The reception could have done a better job suggesting that if guests are not carrying stuff they're welcome to use the stairs, I try to use the stairs when I can, to be more environmentally friendly, you know, since YHA claims to be an environmentally responsible organisation. The lift can take ages to come anyway, and the highest level is level 3. All in all, I wouldn't say it's met my expectations of a YHA. This is easily the worst YHA I have stayed in Australia-wide. Being the only backpackers in Canberra means no competition and people get lazy with that. I stayed there for two nights and moved to a cheap airbnb room that's only a few dollars more expensive than the dorm bed, but then you have the room all to yourself and don't need to worry about parking if you have a car. Would really need some improvement.
7.1 Good
Cons: The staff there during the night are aggressive, there was a guy who did not welcome very well. Also, during morning I went to do breakfast I saw there is no one to assist after 20 minutes going back and forth an old woman come up and reluctantly asked what I want. The foods there not in good condition. Guys please look after your kitchen it seems a little bit of chaos is going on
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and relatively new.
Cons: No soap.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful & friendly staff. Wonderful service, food & amenities. Great location - central to all our needs.
Cons: The only thing that didn’t suit us was the bed was abit too soft- but this is only a personal preference.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Jayben on Arrival was friendly & attentive. Had a chat about how proud he is of his team at The Avenue. And about how happy i am as a return guest. Our room was (as always) perfect. Housekeeping deserve gold stars. Sophie on check out was upset about our experience with room service mains. She decided not to charge us. Not expected. But appreciated. I was visiting Canberra because of Medical treatment. And truly wasn't well. THEN we returned that same afternoon (couldnt get home, monaro highway was closed because of Fires) and Sophie heard about our situation and helped out with a discount. #Love The Avenue
Cons: Room Service - The chicken parmi with m&g potato salad and greens. Very disappointing meal; no flavour in potato salad & very cold smashed potatoes just plonked onto plate, Wilted lettuce drenched in olive oil, lemon piece looked days old (dried out) not appealing plating at all. Air conditioning was Not On on our arrival - it was 42* outside. Next time maybe...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: The tea cups needed a wash.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I was visiting a relative who lived in Lyneham, so the location of the Mantra was ideal. The room was comfortable and clean, as one would expect of a 4-star accommodation.
Cons: There were no shops in the vicinity, so the hotel is rather isolated for people without cars. My room was not serviced during my stay of 4 nights. This was not too much of an inconvenience for me as I always keep my room neat and tidy, but I would have appreciated having the towels changed, and I ran out of tea bags! I put in a request for an early morning call for my departure which wasn't provided. As it happened I was already awake at the time, but it would have been a problem if I had overslept as I had a plane to catch. Also I could not adjust the room air conditioning and had trouble with the high night time temperatures on my first two nights. I then phoned room service and was told that the air conditioning is controlled by them. The room temperatures were okay for the rest of my stay. I should have been informed of this when I arrived. There is a TV ad in which a woman brags "$120 a night. Not bad for a 4-star hotel with a swimming pool." I was tempted to say to the receptionist on leaving "$120 a night. Not bad for a 4-star hotel with no room service, no air conditioning and no early morning call."
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Value for money. All the basics you need and your bed gets re made every morning + fresh towels as required. Location made it so that I never had to drive more that 15minutes in any direction.
Cons: Variation in the breakfast offering would have been nice. Only bacon and eggs for hot dishes every morning. There is a pay menu also if you want more options
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The view, the bed was really comfortable. The facilities were great.
Cons: My issues were the sink in the bathroom of main room was blocked. No long term parking part of accomodation hence having to pay for parking in underground car park that has no access to accomodation or do at we did and park on the street (not very secure) and have to get up early to move car before timed parking starts.

Pros: Great view from the top floor!

Pros: I really liked the historic style of the hotel and the fact that the rooms were not just a generic hotel room design. Ours was spacious, interestingly furnished and had a terrace to sit out on - lovely. The terrace bar was also excellent as was the restaurant where we dined and had breakfast.
Cons: A little more furniture/decoration out on the terrace - otherwise everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent all-round.
Cons: Eggs at breakfast could be varied.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully presented, great location, room well fitted.Everything looks great.
Cons: Over course of 6 night stay I had multiple encounters with staff that didn’t need to happen, and where consistency of message and thinking from the customers shoes would have made a huge difference. Eg some days we could split breakfast bill but some days not. Depended on who served us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The feel of the place - it just felt nice, older and friendly... like pulling on your old jumper that you love so much.
Cons: Nothing really.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all friendly and helpful. Had a lovely corner room that was clean and comfortable with great space and a verandah. The bathroom was also very clean and roomy. Breakfast was good as was the coffee.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, decorations, free mini bar and foyer lounge.
Cons: Distance to lifts.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Staff was super rude and didn’t know the rules themselves. They acted immature and weren’t trained properly specially the bartender. Bartender guy was highly unprofessional and didn’t seem to care about the experience of the customer. He was derogatory and seemed unfit for the place. We have stayed there 8 times last year but would not want to go again ever. Hotel is great but they should do something about their staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hotel in a buzzing part of Canberra city. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful, across check in, bar and the amazing restaurant (Monster). My room was just stunning, beautiful stone bathtub, huge shower and most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The icing on the cake was the generous complimentary mini bar and treat pack. Friends had recommended this hotel to me and it did not disappoint.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The quirky decor and design. Everything about Hotel Hotel was great from the greetings from the staff, the warmth, bedroom and surroundings

Cons: The Restaurant had limited choice and opening hours also limited, the menu at the restaurant was shabby in what it offered and how this was charged, we never ate at the restaurant so this was disappointing
