The location and sea views were amazing. Also very quiet consider on the main road. All the staff were lovely and helpful.
Only one thing: I don't think the TV had a signal but forgot to inquire about it as it wasnt that important.
Staff were very helpful and prompt. Breakfast was outstanding with good variety and choice of hot and cold menus. Good choice of free DVDs.
Needed minor repairs but did not affect enjoyment of stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was extremely good. The location is great. I would definitely stay there again.
The stairs were quite steep, possibly a problem for young children.
There were DVDs available to be borrowed and the breakfast is absolutely fantastic. There were so many choices on the menus, including salmon bagel and egg benedicts. Albeit the long journey to rooms with the stairs, it was a pleasant stay overall.
It was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, however there was constantly a strong smell of cigarettes in the corridors in the 2nd and 3rd floor.
The breakfast was excellent.
The hotel badly needs updating. The room was dirty and there was no lift. We had to climb 8 flights of stairs which was exhausting. In the bathroom there are no hooks or a towel rail provided, which made life quite difficult. There was no bin in the bathroom and mirrors were badly positioned. I would not stay at this hotel again.
It was a nice hotel very good for money, lovely staff can watch dvds to!
The room could have been cleaned during our stay i suppose if we had asked they would have.
The views from the room, the location and the breakfast
Friendly greeting on arrival, friendly, efficient staff and breakfast had some good choices and was well cooked.
The en-suite facilities in room 101 consisted of an open top box containing washbasin, toilet and shower but as there was no door or ceiling to the box the toilet facilities were unusable
Breakfast at the adjoining Granville Hotel
no hot water in morning or early evening, rooms small and cramped
We got changed to Granville Hotel. Breakfast of eggs benedict very good. Free internet and use of collection of dvds a good touch. I don't like this seemingly new thing of paying up front for a room. As soon as we arrived we were asked for the money. Next day we moved to the much nicer and cheaper Lanes Hotel up the road. Granville Hotel was not worth the money they charged for a room.
Twin bedded room was very cramped, dingy and dark. One bed was almost in the bathroom. The bedspreads did not match. In fact they clashed. A sofa in the room took up too much space and was covered with a very ugly orange, brown and yellow throw rug. A chair was slightly threadbare. You had to unplug the tv to use the kettle. There should have been a separate electrical outlet for it. The reading lamp didn't work. The jacuzzi in the bathroom was faulty and squirted water all over the floor and a staff member phoned up to say water was dripping on the floor below and I should be careful. It was their faulty jacuzzi that was causing the problem not me. There was no plug for the sink and I wear contact lenses and need a plug.
It was comfortable and convenient, the staff were cheerful and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The room was very spacious and attractive. We actually stayed in a building called the Granville Hotel, which connects with the Cecil House building. I assumed it was all the same hotel.
