Great Little CarPros: Car was waiting for us...no delays. Clean, and gassed up.Cons: Car was old...it had over 117,000km on odometer, plus a weak battery making for difficult starting. But having said that, the car made it through iur rental period ok.

Best value car rental company ever.Pros: Easy to deal with, convenient off site pick up and drop off and very reasonable rates. I would definitely use them again as cars were good and they are by far the cheapest car rental company I have ever used.Cons: Dropped off prior to opening time at 7am but didn't get loaded onto bus for 15 minutes. Maybe they could start work 15 minutes earlier to check cars so we can get to airport on time. Also, clients had to work out who should go on first bus to airport based on flight departure times. I think the staff could have organised this. Excess was $5500, we would like to pay a (very) small amount extra to reduce this to $5000 as this is what our travel insurance will cover.

Good valuePros: Pick up/drop off shuttle was great, car was clean and ready to go. Staff were helpful and friendly.Cons: Tried to change the name of primary driver prior to pick up and was told that I would have to make a whole new booking and that a similar vehicle was not available. I do not understand why the name could not simply be changed, and how my reserved vehicle was suddenly not going to be available. As a result we had to pay extra to have additional driver put on.
Pros: Manager, Mo, was great! He was responsive to a few concerns we had and was flexible with our situation. He also upgraded us for no charge to make up for having to wait at an empty kiosk.Cons: Someone hadn't turned up to their shift so when we arrived (an hour into their operating hours) no one was there. However, the manager soon arrived and treated us like VIPs.

Cons: Would be good if the process could be streamlined (I.e. Took 10 minutes to organise, when a lot of the info they needed could have been provided ahead of time online).
Easy rental, nice drivingPros: Helpful, friendly customer service and easy car pickup.

Wouldn't honor my reservationCons: Wouldn't honor my reservation price and tried to charge me over 5X the rate I confirmed with Kayak. She said, "its Christmas week, I can't honor that price." I had to take a taxi into the city and make other arrangements. Don't use Kayak for international reservations.

Poor quality of vehiclePros: Compact car and efficiency of fuelCons: Poor condition of vehicle. Vehicle made rattling noise from engine, which made us insecure of car breaking down. When defrost / a/c system was powered an extremely loud and disturbing sound came from what I imagine is the compressor. This last condition resulted in lots of vibration in the car when idle.
It is highly advantageous to rent a car in Hobart as the public transportation in the city is somewhat limited. The main form of transit available is the public bus, but for groups or families visiting Hobart this likely won’t be as efficient or comfortable as a hire car. Also, if you plan on visiting any of the neighboring attractions such as Wellington Park (21 km or 13 miles away), it is often cheaper to drive there yourself rather than joining a tour.
Looking to pick up a hire car upon landing in Hobart so you can begin your Tasmanian journey? If your flight is arriving at Hobart International Airport, you will find all the airport’s various hire car counters located in the Arrivals section of the airport.
Driving in Hobart is a simple and easy affair for the most part, but there is one thing to remember when heading out onto the roads outside the city -- namely, the winding roads. Many of the roads and highways can be surprisingly curvy as they move up and down the hills, so caution is advised. This is especially the case in difficult weather conditions such as rain or snow.
Rush hour in Hobart starts off in the morning around 6:30 a.m. and lasts until 9:00 a.m. throughout the work week. The afternoon traffic picks up around 4:00 p.m. and finishes shortly after 6:00 p.m. Most of the streets don’t feature too much congestion but Davey Street is one to avoid if possible.

Also, the smaller parking spaces typical of the city’s streetside parking may not fit larger vehicles.
