Still, to save you some time and frustration, choose a hotel with free parking or park on one of the residential streets and walk to your downtown destination. Some good spots include parking lots on Alshabsog Street or outside of the Citadel ticket office.

There are no national laws or requirements for driving with children in the back seat but there are some strong recommendations. Firstly, we recommend that you follow the same advice as you would if you were driving in the United Kingdom, and that you adhere to the instructions on the child seat, in order to keep the little people safe while you are driving. Children cannot sit in the front until they are at least 12 years old, but other than that, we recommend following the weight and height guidelines for the child seats that you place in the back seat.

In Amman, the blood alcohol limit is set at 50 mg, and you will be required to drive on the right-hand side of the road during your stay there. Passengers in the front seat are required to wear a seat belt, but those in the back are not legally required to do so, although for safety reasons, we recommend that they do. You can only use your phone if it is through a hands-free function or device.
