wanted to charge me for 'excessive dirtiness' for sand on car carpet. really just didnt want to clean themselves. they would have charged me $150 extra

There was NOTHING to like, horrible experience with Avis. Avis (Suzanne, the location manager: San Diego, CA Miramar Rd Location, (858) 271-0018) rented out all of their cars and told me they would not be able accommodate my reservation I made and secured with a credit card days before arriving, ultimately leaving my family of four stuck without a car. I then called Avis' main number, talked to Maggie, they were not able to offer assistance to find a replacement car either and basically told me tough luck. To add to the frustration, a day later they charged my credit card a $50 "No Show" fee for not picking up the car I reserved that they didn't have. From talking to others at the hotel it sounds like they do this often. Live and learn for me, no more Avis car rentals.Obviously Avis should have managed the situation better. (1) have a car for the reservation, (2) make arrangements for when Avis over-rents and fails to provide a car for a reservation, (3) not charge a $50 to a family that didn't get a car in the first place.

The clerk was awesome. My issue is that my original rate was not honored! I reserved a vehicle for San Diego Airport online at an affordable rate. When we arrived (after a long day of travel) we were told the address for the reservation wasn’t for SAN, but a location nearly an hour away!!Our quoted rate should be honored and the website should be MUCH clearer on locations. In fact I would appreciate a refund of the difference in the higher price I ended up paying!

The rate was substantially lower than the airport pickup rate so it was worth the Uber ride to Miramar. Although the location was a bit funky, the car was in perfect condition and clean.

It was quickThe agent did not explain any charges or policies. Said it was no problem to pick up a 20 min early but then charged me for an extra day without explanation. The guy got indignant when I questioned it and said it would automatically credit if I turned the car in within 24hrs. Naturally it did not.

street signs could be biggerWe got through the paperwork smoothly. As expected, the car was great. Practically no upsell compared to other rentals.It is located inside a strip mall. The signage on the street was small. I almost missed it at pickup. After returning the car, my uber ride also missed the place and had to do a U-turn.

Just plain badNothingWe booked a rental car which was about 30 minutes away from the airport. We took a $75 taxi to Avis and when we were 5 minutes Avid called and said they had "no cars" and they wouldn't have any cars for a few hours. We then had to spend $75 to go to another rental agency and rent a more expensive car.
