Employees are very courteous and very professional. Benjamin and Ramona were great. Facilities are outdoors for pickup and drop-off. It is uncomfortable for clients and employees. Airport authorities must invest in proper facilities in a country that is otherwise geared for tourism and other business.

The drop off was extremely easy and the staff very professional. I was very happy with the taxi offer.I was a bit surprised by the additional $500 deposit at the pickup location. The deposit was almost 250% more than the cost of the rental car itself - which only totaled $201. It would have been a little more comforting to know that this extra amount was required prior to arriving at the location. Knowing at booking allows for precise budgeting for the trip.

I didn’t like anything.., When I got there, they told me that they didn’t recognize the insurance that I paid before I got there. Then, they increased the car prices and wanted to get the insurance from them for a lot of money, then another $500 down in case something happened... My question was how they can make people pay all that money for a liability insurance

Nothing, the customer service sucked! My reservations were canceled due to time difference that I was not made aware of when booking plus they did not problem solve were very dismissive and said they had No cars at all.Customer service could have advised about the time difference plus the hold of vehicles. I should have been guided to other rental companies that would have given me a better deal. I had to figure it all out by myself. They guys there suck big time.

We have paid but didn’t get a car! They rented out from under us. We were a day late due to a reschedule implemented by American Airlines. When we called to tell them when we would be picking it up, the lady hung up on us twice, we couldn’t get thru several times and finally we got a hold of someone who told us they rented it and had no more cars available. We need this rental credited back to us. Thanks

Nothing!!!!!! They have no cars available, in any class or shape. No notification was made to me about this prior to arrival. We had no vehicle and they offer no alternative. Had to use another company on my own and ended up paying almost double for a rental. Horrible service! On the Dominican Republic all they care is about money! The level of satisfactory customer service is zero!!!!!!

When I arrive they only have two cars the one I rent and a biger suv mine DID NOT HAVE LIGHTS YES HEAD LIGHTS BURN ON ONE SIDE insted of gave me the upgrade they release the car like that it cost me more than 150 us dollars as i was stop twice by police not counting how dangerous was driving like that

Customer service was amazing I was treated like a queen, they even fetch me some snacks while I was waiting for my rental. The only thing I didn't like was to wait for almost 2 hours to receive the car after a long flight with my 8 yo kid.

Do not book with this company. Not only did I not get the car I requested I had to pay extra 570 dollars for a beat up gigantic fan that they held 3,0000 US dollars in credit card deposit. They said they would replace the car the next day but we spent a LOT OF MONEY on gas for the one they didn’t exchange. Do not get ripped off as we (and other people did who were being helped by another attendant.) You can’t get through to customer service either. Don’t let them direct you to this company. Stick with Avis or budget especially if you don’t speak Spanish!

NOTHING!! IT WAS A COMPLETE RIP-OFF!!! DO NOT RENT FROM ECONOMY!! DO NOT RENT FROM AMERIRENT, WHICH IS AFFILIATED WITH ECONOMY! Wouldn't rent to me unless I bought liability and collision insurance, for which they wanted $840 on top of the $198 rental fee for the car for 13 days. I refused, and we went through a 2-hour haggling process where I kept refusing...mainly because I had ALREADY purchased the Allianz collision and liability protection online, when i booked the car. Their justification: A small line in the online reservation that said (approximately) "There may be various local charges which must be paid at the point of rental.' From that, they justified charging criminal prices. Ultimately, we couldn't argue with them forever. We finally skipped the collision coverage entirely, and received a 'discounted rate' for liability insurance of 'only' $240. RIP-OFF PRICING TACTICS!! i kept refusing the insurance, and polled several other rental counters...but they were all supporting each other by claiming cars were unavailable or asking outrageous prices. DO NOT RENT FROM ECONOMY!! DO NOT RENT FROM AMERIRENT, WHICH IS AFFILIATED WITH ECONOMY!An honest quote with fair pricing would resolve this problem entirely. DO NOT RENT FROM ECONOMY!! The car insurance was higher than the cost of the 4 day rental. The Allianz insurance I purchase through you was rejected. “It doesn’t cover us.” The staff was purposely deceitful about the prices by phrasing and purposeful omission. The car was booked for 5 days, but since they were not open until after my returning flight, it was returned a day early. The rental day was not reimbursed, “because I booked in advance and not there in person.” So I was forced to pay an extra day of rental and insurance. There were angry customers around me complaining of a similar experience. I now understand why. Needless to say, I will never rent a vehicle through them again.

The car was nice and comfortable.Upon our arrival we had to wait about an hour to be seen. The only person working was handling two transactions, a return and a rental. The car was given dirty on the outside so the scratches were hard to see. We didn’t realize the windshield had a crack in it until a few days later. Luckily I took a video of the car so we didn’t end up being liable for the damage. When we took the car back they said not to worry about it because I had the video. Once there, they told us the temp tags were expired, mind you we picked up the car on 5/2 and it expired 5/3. Why would they give a car with temp tags about to expire the following day? Our car rental was for 20 days. They said they kept trying to call us, I asked to what number and they said your US number, why would they call our US number when we’re in a different county. There was no excuse because they had all of our local information. They said someone would be by the following day to take the new temp plates. We waiting all day, no one showed up and no one even bothered to call. We tried calling them all day even to their emergency number and no one responded. How reassuring is that if we did have some sort of vehicle emergency and we couldn’t reach someone on their emergency number. Not until 2 days later after we kept calling that someone actually picked up and said someone would be by within the hour. We asked for a credit for the inconvenience and all they said was that the card had already been charged and that they couldn’t issue a credit. I work for a University and I handle payments, partial refunds can be issued if they wanted to. It was the most annoying experience ever. Wasted time and days waiting around so that we wouldn’t be stopped by the cops for expired temp plates. When we went to return the car the day we were leaving at 7:00am apparently they didn’t open until 8:00am. How do you have a car rental company where you don’t have someone on site 24 hours a day? After waiting a while a person finally showed up. Then he weren’t the one to process the lift of the $3,000 hold it was another person who wouldn’t be there until about an hour later. Considering our flight was at 10:00am we couldn’t wait around.

i had pew booked and prepaid my rental. When I got there they said it was mandatory to add their insurance despite having my own. Then there were extra fees. In total they tried to charge me almost 50% more than what I had already paid.

Theeee WORST customer service EVER!!The only positive thing was that they waited for me when I arrived. It was a headache with all the “fine print” and extra money that I had to put down to get the vehicle...On my way to the airport I was in a small fender bender & when I got to the airport I webt to check in, the receiver said he would be there waiting for me to sign. When I got back he was gone. The young lady that came to help me called the sup or mgr but she was no help either as they made me miss my flight, didnt accomadate me with anything, then said I could get another car for the day but I have to pay for it. Then I just noticed that the SUPER overcharged me for the fender bender. Something that here in the states would be a couple hundred, they took almost the entire deposit of the $1100 I put down for the car... the worst experience ever...

Not renting again from SixtThe pickup and drop off process was smooth.The car I got was beat to hell and the front bumper was missing clips so it kept coming off. The inside was dirty and when I asked to get a different one they told me that’s all they had. They also charged me for a $19 dally mandatory liability insurance, which is fine but needs to be clear at the time of reservation. I will not be renting from Sixt again.

Total SCAM!After paying in advanced and as arrived to pick up the vehicle I was asked to pay an additional $68 to cover some other insurance. I decided to cancel, but was instructed to do it online where I was unable to cancel because I need some security code that was not provided booked the rental. In short, avoid this rental company at all cost!!!

Had to pay for DR insurance as opposed to the insurance I already paid for. If I used the 3rd party, they were going to put a hold of $1500 on my card. I didn’t want to later on them charge my card for those $1500 so I used their insurance so I paid another $100 plus a hold of $200 then I did when I booked.

Watch Out for the Insurance Rip OffThe rental web site offers insurance. The rental agency does not accept the insurance you purchase on the rental web site, and requires you to purchase another, much more expensive, policy before renting the vehicle: no locally purchased policy, no rental! The rental agency suggested calling (international) the insurance company which provides the insurance offered on the rental web site to cancel the policy - not very practical. A rip off coming and going. Dollar and Kayak should be more transparent in what is offered through their services.

The car was nice when we got the actual car we reserved.They didn't have my car upon arrival. They instead gave us a car that seated 3 people less because we were picking up the rest of the family the next day. They didn't give any kind of upgrade or refund for the lesser car they gave us for that day. The charges us 14 dollars a day for a gps when the car the next day had a gps installed in it. When I tried to turn it in at punta cana they said to turn it in at the end in Santo Domingo and then in Santo Domingo they said we should have turned it in at the dollar in punta cana. They sold us additional insurance saying that they could not rent us a car without it even though I already had a policy in hand which had better protection than that which they sold me. Overall terrible renting experience.

The increase was som Insurance and roadassistance that was mandatory, accortding to their employee at the airport. This was the first time we heard about these additional COSTs on a understandable way. Why don't they inform you about this before the pick-up? Overall: We was not satisfied whit how they communicatet the price before pick-up. We felt cheated. Our requirement is therefore to get a refound of $120.

The shuttle took almost 40 minutes to pick us up. Each time we asked via phone we were told it was on its way and would get there in less than 5 minutes. Later we find out that pick up facility was a short walking distance and we could have saved more than 30 minutes by just walking. The vehicle was not ready and we were provided with a dirty substitute.

The facility is very close to the terminal but the agent helpfully dropped me off in front using the same car I was returning.The car's air conditioner was not up to the task of cooling the car during the sunniest, hottest parts of the days--this was true over several hours while cruising at highway speeds. Also, the suspension was pretty worn out. The car bounced around a lot over rough road surfaces.

Get ready for an insurance scam...It was not great.When we got to the airport, 3:15am, there were no representatives to tell us where to go. When we found the office, they told me they couldn’t use my credit card because “it doesn’t have numbers on the front”. After a 35 minute argument the guy finally caved and managed to “fix the system” that prevented him from completing the booking. I had declined insurance bc my travel card covers it and they were trying to get me to buy insurance. Anyways, just keep your wits about you. If they try to get crazy call the corporate office for budget...a little tough if you don’t have service though

Very misleading, I do not recommendThe car was reserved for us that’s about it.The lady was at the counter was really nice and tried to educate us more on how it all works. She felt bad for us I can tell because the charges we got were that extreme.I rented a car for my stay in Dominican Republic. What kayak said I was going to pay was not what I ended up paying at all. The insurance you buy through kayak does not work in all countries so I had to get local insurance which was very expensive. The drop off fee and taxes also changed once we were there, it ended up being so expensive. Not at all what I signed up for.Right before finishing up our pick they lost electricity. You would think budget would have a plan for that but they don’t. The poor employee had to start from scratch twice!

the drop-off was super easy. the guy in the punta cana counter was helpfull.the price and the final information to the customer. we booked the car for 160 USD and the final price was 530USD something unbelievable because the guy says that that price doesn't have the mandatory insurance, so he charged like 370USD more of the final price informed on the Kayak web page. that is very annoying because you want to pay what they told you for the first time, not with so many conditions and mandatory insurances that are not published on the web page.

He tried to play by ear and not specific in terms of added tax and final amount. My rental said "tax included", so I didn't get it. He added more than 40% extra in taxes, even 10% extra for the Hotel Sheraton.Kayak should not advertise "all tax included" when it is not true.

efficient car return at Santo Domingo airportI booked 2 SUVs for my family vacation to DR and when got to Santo Domingo airport I was told there were no SUVs but they could offer us 2 small cars. When I protested I was met with a shrug and told “it’s the holiday season. There are no SUVs”. It’s clear that there was never an intention to rent us SUVs and it felt like we were lured into renting from Hertz. We ended up paying close to the SUV price for the small cars we got instead. There are beach roads in DR that need SUVs. We had to avoid those. I previously rented SUVs from Avis in Santiago DR during this exact same holiday week with no issue.

Old Van with lots of damage and wear and tearStaff were friendly and efficient. Pick up and drop off were relatively fast and easy.The van was in a significant state of disrepair, the seats were torn and stained, the van had not been vacuumed out (there were cookies laying in the back luggage area, the vehicle had damage on pretty much every corner and side of the vehicle, the window tinting was pealing off. The insurance that kayak is selling on the website does not work in the Dom. Rep. Felt like a bait and switch where they charged 5-6 times as much money for insurance in the country that was was sold to me online (about $400-500 for 9 days), I had to cancel the online policy because it was not accepted in the country of the rental (it shouldn’t be offered!).

Worst experience in my life!Absolutely nothingI booked my car for a 7 passenger and when i arrived they told me that they no longer have that category. Then told me that the insurance i purchased wouldnt work, which it did because ive rented with hertz all the time. So ended up no renting and stayed stranded for a day because what i booked for 7 passengers for $330.00 now they wanted almost $700.00. Hertz i will never rent with you guys and will make sure to let everyone know how bad i was treated.

Experience was horrible. I reserved many days prior to my arrival only to find out the car I reserved wasn’t available. They wanted to give me 2 cars instead of the 15 passenger car that I reserved. The only solution they gave me was a 12 passenger car for the same price of the 15 passenger. Also I had to pay $300 for extra insurance even though on my reservation full insurance was already quoted. The personal must revise the reservations they handle online and have all the cars they offer available because they are just publishing fraudulent announcements to get you to rent with them cars that they don’t have.

My fisrt visit was terrible. the lady kept asking me if I had registered> And was confusing me withsomeone else. Being that I was prefered I was offered a 30% discount on a standard SUV foer about $508 for 7 days. Well they didnt have a standard SUV they had a my trip to Compact SUV so I opt to get an econony car instead for a couple of days until my trip to the city of Samana when I would need a bigger vehicle. So on my way to Samana we stopped by to exchange and they still didnt have a standard SUV the had an Intermediate SUV. That gentleman was much nicer and gave us the SUV for the same rate as the economy. I had liability insurance and they kept insisting that I get additional coverage so got it. I paid $780.83. I dont think that it treflected a 30% discount. I rented a car for a month while there in Oct 20. And I didnt spend this much.

The agent was really into selling me insurances and telling me that I couldn’t decline the CDW insurance even though I had auto rental Insurance with my Credit card. They charged me for gas refill and I returned it on same level I received it. Not renting from the airport anymore.

I reserved 2 months in advance via Kayak and called to confirm the reservation 3 days prior to my arrival, yet at the time I arrived they did not have my vehicle available. I reserved an SUV and they were offering me a compact car instead. In the end, I had to take another SUV for more that twice the price in my reservation. The pickup process took extremely long. In my case 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Sub-par car and extortionate insurance policiesFunctional SUV in a country where even the main roads can be sketchy, friendly and reasonably professional service.SUV felt poorly maintained, with sloppy steering, a glitchy transmission and numerous dings and small broken parts that we didn’t discover until on the road (a broken windshield wiper for example). The worst part was that my online quoted $360 weekly rate ballooned to over $1300 when all the local BS nickel & dime fees were factored in (including mandatory insurance when I was told on arrival that my third party Allianz policy which I’d already paid for was not valid in the Dominican Republic, even though I’ve used that company everywhere from Tanzania to Thailand). It’s very hard to maintain a rental fleet on a Caribbean island with limited resources - I get that. However, I felt like I was hustled/extorted, and should’ve been informed in advance that I had to buy ‘local’ insurance in order to drive my car away. Shame on Avis.

I didn’t like anything. We were told when we got to Santo Domingo that they didn’t have a van for us. They had the reservation but no van available to us. We asked when would they have one available they said nothing for the next week. So we ended up paying double the price for the rental. I had issues in the past at DR about the rental Carrara reservations. This time with Enterprise at SDQ airport was very easy and efficient. Pick-up and drop off was very easy. They did not play games like some other companies. Staff were friendly and quick. Thanks for the good service...I think ,they should place proper signs after the airport exit to show where the rental cars pick-up area and drop-off area.

Nothing. I didn't get a car. I noticed this was a trend in the Santo Domingo rental car pickup. Kayak needs to do a better job of warning people that Santo Domingo's rental car companies are difficult to work with. I rented from 3 different places and none of them had cars.Everything. I didn't get a car because the guy at the counter said they didn't have any. This also happened at Alamo and Avis. How does Kayak not have a grip on this? Is this a scam that the rental companies are running out of Santo Domingo? Or is Kayak's inventory system flawed? I'd love to know.

Rental for a 3 Hour ride.Surprises: There is a charge for fault collision that added another $10 US to the daily cost. No, the credit cards don't cover this. Accepted it for the peace of mind. A little slow at the SDW Airport counter upon arrival, but it's DR and normal. Lol The Versa that was rented was awesome. It was economical and comfortable for a 3hr ride plus day trips. Good thing since gas is about $6 US ltr. Checking back in for departure was very smooth and fast. Overall was very happy with the experience. Rich SAll good.

The person in charge attitude was awful, he didn't listen or responded to anything I said or asked him, he also wanted to charge for an insurance I declined the whole time. when I did the reservation over Kayak, the rental cost was gonna be under 300 dollars and the man wanted to charge me almost 1000 dollars because an insurance I was needing to have in order to rent the vehicle. he also told I was not forced to rent the vehicle with them.

The staff was helpful, even though we ended up canceling the rental.The name of the company was different which was not helpful. Our flight was delayed and came in late the lights in the rental place was turned off. Which was discouraging. They turned it on when we approached the door. Our car was gone, they did not take the insurance that I purchased thru Kayak.

Absolutely TerribleI've rented cars in foreign countries and never had a horrid experience like this. Unbelievable.Tried to charge me on the front end even though they didn't have the proper vehicle we reserved. On the back end, would not allow to review a copy of the contract I SIGNED after trying to upcharge me. Seriously, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR LOCATION. NO. Seriously. You will regret it like I did. The streets of DR are not meant for these little all-white vehicles.

We ended up turning the car in a week early and renting from Avis whom provided a much newer car, and did not mandate insurance that doubled the price.

This is a scam, check BBB postings on Twitter firstFirst they made me cancel the insurance that Kayak sold me and then sold their own. They charged full amount, and a sizeable hold, and get this - they didn't have any cars, and asked me to wait an hour after taking more than 30 minutes for the paperwork.I asked them to cancel and it took longer than the rental period to get the money back

Price doubled when our flight was delayedWe arrived a day late because our flight was cancelled and called Payless to tell them. Since we would be taking the car for 6 days instead of 7, the agent informed us the rate would double! we ended up finding another car with another company, but not nearly as good a deal as our Payless reservation because we had to book at the last minute.

Worst experience ever. Not using them again and wiCar was ok. Clean and responsive. Didn't have any issues while I had it. No mechanical problems.When I got there to pick up the car I was told that I to pay a different price no with exceptions. So I reserved the car from home for a set price because it was what I could afford only to end up having to pay twice as much once I picked up the car. Also when I went to pick up the vehicle I had to wait forever because the attendant was nowhere to be found. The receptionist who attended me with the paperwork had to get out and get the car herself after I kept coming back to tell her that I was still waiting. The gentleman who was assigned to get the car was practically only a few feet from me sitting on a chair sleeping and pretending he didn't work there.. Horrible service. Just horrible. As for the car it was scratched all over with many dents all around including the at the hood as if someone beat it with a baseball bat. Also had horrible paint job on the back. You can see the yellow stains protruding from the original white paint and the windshield was cracked. But at least the car did its job to take me from point A to point B without any problems..

Watch out for insurance fees and class of car reseThe car was in good running condition. They just got a new fleet of 2016 cars so I was fortunate to grab one of the newer cars.The rental agent insisted on me getting collision and 3rd party insurance after I told him that I did not needed the additional coverage due to my credit card protection and additional insurance I bought through Kayak. After about an hour discussion, he then tells me that it is a new law that just went into effect last month and that I had no choice but to buy the insurance from them. When that didn't work, he then tried the scare tactics to try to convince me to buy the insurance that was twice as much as the actual rental cost. Then came the class of car that I was paying for. I reserved a full size car, but I ended up with a compact car instead. When I complained about the size of the car, I was told that I had to pay more because the larger cars were considered premium class. Nowhere else would someone consider a Hyundai Accent to be a premium car. After another 45mins argument, he agreed to give me an Accent instead of the sub compact car he originally was trying to give me for the price of the larger car. After spending 10 hours flying and an additional 2 hours at the rental desk, I still ended up paying an extra $20 from the reservation price. Not exactly sure why, but I was not willing to spend another hour arguing over the extra $20.
