We were disappointed in the extra charge for an early drop off. Also the shuttle to the pick-up took a long time coming. Also I was not pleased with the policy that they have for dealing with tolls. They have a surcharge on top of the toll charge. Unimpressed.

The staff without exception were super friendly and helpful, pickup was easy and efficient and drop-off was even better. The rates were also better than all the competitors for our 5 day trip. The car was a Mitsubishi ASX which is a nice size but just OK in terms of drivability, comfort and additional gadgets but it was clean and with plenty of fuel when we picked it up. We would choose Apex again.

Re-booking confirmation was not found by Buget/Avis in SYD. Avis rep then hijacked rental and I ended up paying TWICE the quoted rate online from Kayak. Avis//Budget rep also claimed there was no drop off station in the Flinders area (specifically Frankston, but there is). Complete RIPOFF from SYD Int'l Budget/Avis.

Avis tried adding a $500 one-way drop off fee that was not in the original estimate. It took several attempts to get it resolved. Had to talk to several agents and phone calls to help center. Truly a bait and switch on Avis’s part with lots off “we’re not able to take the charge off” and “we can’t override the system” conversations.

Vehicle provided was not the vehicle reserved. We reserved a Ford Transit but what we got was a Kia Carnival which although was “similar” it did not provide the same amount of baggage space. 6 adults with 6 full size bags we were packed in like sardines. Interior was stained, brakes need attention

Pros: Car was very comfortable & fuel efficient. Staff was very professional. Quick & easy return. Cons: Rates were a little high. We did not like that we were threatened with a $170AUD fee if the car was not cleaned upon its return. We had never heard that before with any other rental we've had.

Liked the location, disgruntled at the drop off location when the sign pointed to the garage door that did not open when the car approached. No instruction was given about needing to contact the office on arrival to obtain entry to the parking garage.

Great car except for seat belt problem and fact that Hertz forgot to install car seat that we requested in writing and verbally

So we had to return to pick-up location for car seat. Then when we removed car seat to adjust straps for our four year old we could not get he seat belt to ratchet and lock properly to secure car seat, so we had to return to pick-up location a second time(!) for a service person to help with their tricks for getting this seatbelt to work! Basically it cost us two full hours before leaving on a busy holiday weekend.

The pickup/dropoff went well, especially the help when we returned the car. Car was very comfortable, clean, drove well, and we had no problems.

Cons:

When we picked up the car, I asked for a map - especially of how to get to the motorway in Sydney. Was told they didn't have any maps. We used our cell gps, but when you go through tunnels service gets dropped (duh) making it a bit stressful about what turn might be next. I was surprised (frustrated) that even a city map was not available in paper form (come on, Hertz!). Next problem was discovered when we got home and I was paying my credit card bills. When my reservation was made, Hertz charged my credit card one day rental costs. But the system never reflected this when renting or returning the car, so I was charged the full amount when dropped off. This is NOT the fault of the return agent, but the Hertz system. I have since sent an email to Hertz and 2 days later still no reply. If this gets resolved, then my rating might go up - but if it takes more work on my part to get resolved, then rating may actually go down. Also, I thought the charge to drop off at a different city was a bit steep - especially since it seemed like more than twice the actual rental cost.

Pros:

The class of vehicle i booked was not available, yet I was charged the full amount BEFORE being informed that the full size SUV was not available. When I wanted to compare other options and cost, I was told to wait (with a 1 year old baby, after a 14 he flight) and ignored for an hour. Staff was short, rude and not interested in providing information. When I offered to return the nexr day to collect the class of vehicle I booked, that was also declined. I eventually got a smaller car, that forced me to change my family holiday plans, required the use of a second vehicle for 5 days.

Cons:

I should've received the car I booked, or provided with alternatives. I use Thrifty aften (4 times a year, for about 3 months in total) but will reconsider my options in future

The staff member we dealt with at Sydney Airport could not have been better. She was helpful, knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Well done Thrifty for employing the nicest staff!!

Pros:

Nothing !!! They could not provide the car that I booked and paid for in advance. They stated that a Mercedez and a Toyota are the same categorie ( which they are NOT) So they cancelled my 2 reservations and I had to find a different alternative. Very in professional I travel to many countries and I will NEVER use them again. Now I have to get my money refunded let see how that goes.

Pros:

The front desk was very helpful in making sure our group got the best SUV for our needs. The staff at return was incredibly quick and friendly.

Cons:

Instructions on which terminal is best for returning cars would have been helpful. We had to take the bus 4km because we dropped off the car at the domestic, instead of the international terminal.

Booked a “mystery compact car” and they tried to give me an 8x seater people mover. Then charged me an additional fee to actually get a compact car Wrong instructions on airport collection came through in the email vs on the phone as I had to call up 3x. Staff on the phone were abrupt and rude Staff at counter said it wasn’t their problem the car had been advertised as “compact” when it wasn’t Driver who collected us from airport couldn’t lift bags or help in any way Just wouldn’t recommend, scam. Spend more money, at a known hire company at the airport, much easier and you actually know what you’re getting.

absolutely terrible. I don't know whether they have actual humans working for them tbh because you can spend over 30 minutes on the phone, trying all 3 phone numbers they provide you with with your reservation , and no one will answer the phone. Instead, you will get sent insane when the same 4 options come back for you to choose from when you select any option and no one answers the phone. Try emailing? You will receive an automated response in German! Don't bother wasting your time and being driven to brink of utter frustration and go with another company

At pick up our voucher stated the wrong address so we lost half an hour with the taxi to find the wright one At drop off at the location near the airport the location was closed and no shuttle bus before 7:30 we were said by a neighborg Our plane was at 8:00h so we had to leave the car and pay a taxi

Pros:

The paperwork etc was handled pretty efficiently

Cons:

1. Pick up location was changed but address wasn't communicated to us. Reminder mail from kayak received a day before with the same old address. 2. We arrived to find the 151 William Street, Sydney location locked and one small notice stuck to it informing us that the office had relocated. 3. Tried calling their telephone numbers frantically but got no reply. 4. Went to the relocated office address and found no signs etc so could not locate the office again.. Getting very desperate by now and felt I had been scammed! 5. Luckily saw a Sixt employee on the street in a yellow jacket... Approached him and told our issues. His response was we were not the first to have such issues and definitely not the last... Office had relocated over the weekend in what appears to be with very little planning. 6. He graciously left what he was doing to take us to the relocated office. Overall a very pathetic experience booking via Kayak and priceline!

Pros:

Car was OK, price was good. we were the only ones in the branch so the process was relatively fast

Cons:

the location of the return is not the branch location and its almost impossible to find, took us 40 min to try and get there with all available navigation software with no luck, at the end, i just drove to the branch and wanted to leave it there and then they explained us how to get to the return place. When you take the car they check every scratch which is not a good sign, once they took the car out from the branch, we found more than handful scratches/dents in the car that were "invisible" due to the lights in the branch. When we finally returned it, it took them 15 min to go over the car to validate we did not add any new scratches/dents, good for us we noticed all before we left.

Pros:

We hired two different cars in a month period with Sixt (in two different cities) and this is for the second hire. Staff were friendly and did a thorough review of the car before we took it away

Cons:

Compared to the first car we hired, it wasn't a very economical car in terms of petrol - it burned through fuel incredibly quickly, and wasn't very efficient in changing gears (an automatic) which didn't help matters. Considering the other car we used was smaller, it was a lot more efficient, so I wonder whether it needed a service. We were also told to call the team when we dropped off the car so they could inspect it, but the phone was constantly engaged, so we had to walk to the other office to get someone. No one was on the phone, and it was really quiet, so not sure why the number didn't work. Luckily, it didn't cause an issue.

While this company claims to be at the Sydney International Airport, they are not actually at the airport, they're off site & have no rental desk, representative or courtesy phone at airport. While booking, this company's location is represented as "Sydney International Airport" with an address following
