Pros: They were friendly, made upgrade free from VW Passat to Kia Sportage (is it real upgrade or still same?), car was almost new (only 4300km), permitted later to return car in same (as pick-up) location to prevent paying fine (55 euro). After all, was very goodCons: Support call center wasn't available 7x24, so couldn't check if we can return in another point and do pay fine, but save a time

Being robbed by ACECons: I paid for the extra insurance through Kayak, but when I picked up the car in Vilnius I was forced to buy separate insurance for over $150. That means that the insurance Kayak sold me was no good. Also, when I dropped the car off the company is claiming I caused damage when there was already damage indicated for the area in question when I picked it up. The company in Lithuania was not actually Hertz, but something called Ace. I feel like I'm being scammed robbed by this company but can do nothing about it.
Cons: Did not appreciate I was booking via US website, which meant no insurance(CDW) was included.

Vilnius is Lithuania’s beautiful capital which has a broad range to offer, from historical buildings to big green areas like the Botanic Garden. Rent a car for your time in the city to explore every nook and cranny and to become the creator of your own, customized travel itinerary. With your own car, there are no limits and travelers can also explore the historical city of Kaunas, which is not even 2 hours away by car, or reach Neris Regional Park in less than an hour.
Vilnius International Airport is about 4 miles south of the city. The airport has several car hire agencies on its grounds, which is very convenient for travelers who want to start their journey right there and then. International companies like Hertz, Sixt, and Avis are located onsite, among many others, and travelers should follow the signs to the car hire desks upon arrival.
Driving safety has improved in Lithuania over the past years, but it is still has one of the highest fatality rates on their streets within Europe. This is partly due to the poor road conditions in many parts of the city, but also in suburban areas and rural roads. By driving defensively and slowly, however, drivers should face no problems and local drivers, if driving a little fast sometimes, have a reputation to be friendly and helpful.
Vilnius is a small city with an Old Town featuring narrow roads that can be challenging to navigate through – especially during peak times in the morning and evening. Try to avoid driving through Vilnius during rush hour (7-9 am and 5-8 pm), as traffic can get rather severe, especially on the E272, one of the main roads to the city.

As Vilnius is a city with an ancient Old Town that has cobblestone streets and narrow lanes, renting a compact car is advised. Consider that petrol is very expensive in Europe compared to the US and a smaller car will also require less refueling. Also check what is covered by the insurance before driving off with the hire car to be on the safe side.
Stay within the speed limits at all times during your visit to Vilnius. General regulations permit up to 50 km/h (31 mph) within city limits and 90 km/h (55 mph) on roads outside the city. On freeways up to 130 km/h (80 mph) is allowed, but adjust your speed to prevailing weather and road conditions.

Petrolstations are available all around the city and along freeways, and usually it is possible to pay with cash or card. For metered on-street parking there are various zones in Vilnius that are blue, red, yellow, and green. Time restrictions are given in Roman numerals that represent the days, and a number to indicate the time period from where parking is permitted (i.e. I-V means Monday to Friday and 8-22 indicates that meters apply from 8 am to 10 pm). There are also parking lots available, including the underground parking in Gediminas Ave or the one on Tilto Street.
