The breakfast was super. The location was good. The pool area was nice. The family room was big.
There was no heated outdoor swimming pool - it was mentioned in some sites. In february that was a huge disappointment. The room was VERY dated and smelt bad. The staff was not friendly or helpful... Could tell many examples of that. The wifi did not work in the room....

The hotel is located on a hill, around 1.5km from the center of Funchal, by the sea, very convenient location. Breakfast is nice with many options to choose. Personnel are really friendly, responding to your questions and helping in booking for example day trips. With day trips they pick you up from the hotel. There are restaurants close for evening and if you walk to the city or other way by the sea, you will find more options.
Be aware, if you book a room with a view to "mountain" and Funchal, the road is very close and there are noice during night from restaurants. I had asked a quiet room, but had it on 1st floor over parking place. I asked another room and they kindly changed me after 2 nights. I would rather book a room with sea/pool view, if you appreciate more quiet surroundings.

Big room with a nice view, though the balcony was really small and could not really be used. A useful fridge that can fit a large water bottle easily.
Breakfast had a lot of items, but most of them low quality, like the juices, the coffee and the warm dishes. The hotel offers a botel of water, but a refill has to be paid for. Not really a 5 star approach to service quality.
