Stayed overnight to avoid night time driving on the motorway.very difficult to find parking space.website should mention that.Booked the economical room through booking.com but the lady said she doesn't have that room available so had to call customer care at booking.com.finally got the room at same price so that was good. Left early morning so can not comment on breakfast. Overall value for money. Parking and ruddiness of the hotel lady. I have pity on her.Not good for leisure.
Excellent recommendation re: where to dine
breakfast tiny en suite
The bed was extremely comfortable. The room and bathroom were both very small.
The rooms were ok, hotel clean and a good breakfast The hotel needs updating, it was awfull. Woke up to rain water dripping on my head and pillows, which were about 3 in thick. I expected better.
It was convenient for our purpose and inexpensive. The room was not ready at the time promised. The staff was not especially friendly.
beds were clean and breakfast was excellent
All spot on
Nothing it was ok as a crash pad nothing else The choice of breakfast was basic. No fresh fruit
Leaving! Hotel staff were uninviting, needs a major refit and one day had no power so was unable to have breakfast or use any facilities - no refund or replacement food offered, very cheap basic hotel, small rooms, creaky floorboards, poor decal, mouldy shower,
Lovely b&b, rooms very clean and breakfast very tasty. I booked a twin room, however we were given a double, I advised we had booked a twin and they gave us our own room at no extra cost.
Exceptional location and attention from the sdtaff None - the road works outside were beyond your control [and aere an overall benifit to the area]
Great location, good atmosphere, great food, nice warm room and friendly staff. Adjacent to our room there was a noisy boiler/heating system which woke us very early.
Recently refubished, lovely atmosphere, combines the good points of staying in a pub and staying in an hotel. My reservation didn't seem to be there at check-in, but appeared later. However this was not a problem.
Friendly staff Good food Nice room A lot of road traffic noise
Excellent location and accommadation .The staff were second to none and very friendly, professional and helpful in every aspect.I Have already revisited the hotel and recommended it to friends.
The newly appointed manager was clearly giving it her all . . . and was still smiling.
it was clean and the staff were friendly and the food was good I would have liked the bed to have had a padded mattress cover on it I think it makes the bed more comftable and more hygenic than just a sheet on the mattress
The Mill Inn has a very nice relaxing atmosphere. The new manageress in very attentive and welcoming and oversees her staff very well.
Meal times were rather restrictive. 9am latest breakfast and 8.30pm for dinner.
Lovely large room, attractive setting
Me and my husband went on a weekend break, just to relax and this was the perfect place to do it!! The hotel, staff and food were excelent. I would recommend this hotel to anybody as its in a quiet location but a short distance from Lancaster, if a busier break was wanted!!
fantastic to stay in a hotel were the staff are there for you not just the wages, worm and helpfull staff and managment
The staff were pleasant and friendly and the location was quiet yet not far from Lancaster. We were happy to bring guests for our evening meal. The only minor issue was the accompaniments to dishes, ie tartar sauce for with fish, butter for bread with soup, brown bread to accompany smoked salmon, naan bread for curry, ketchup and other condiments were not offered and we had to ask for them but apart from that the food was of a high standard and very enjoyable.
The welcome from the staff and the place in general. No, but the farm next door was a mess a row of well planted trees would hide it.
Ease of access to centre of Lancaster.
Shocking parking facilitys
The location was central to the city of lancaster Room was not overly clean
Central location, free car parking, comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast Room rather dark, had to wait a little at breakfast as they had run out of eggs.
A first class personal service, comfortable beds and excellent breakfasts and dinner
peace and quiet - easy access to Lancaster and district
just excellent in every way : room, breakfest
the service was impecible, the staff very friendly, and the overall experience was fantastic
Where to begin? James & Co. are really doing an amazing job. The other reviews aren't exaggerations; this place is simply wonderful. Pity that we won't be back to Lancaster again soon. Interesting beer from HRH The Prince of Wales. Good English wine and conversation. Tea with fresh scones and cream when we arrived one Friday morning a few weeks ago... Wo anzufangen? James & Co. machen wirklich erstaunlich. Dog somewhat easily distracted. At some times, some of the chickens weren't immediately visible from the room window. Der Hund lässt sich leicht ablenken. Manchmal waren manche der Hühner nicht sofort zu sehen vom Zimmerfenster.
So welcoming . great food and atmosphere and service great bed and bathroom None
the decor was exceptional, the food excellent, the welcome very friendly no!
The hosts, the food and the attention to detail for comfort.
None Shower was mouldy and dirty and it smelt, not any adequate lighting, light in the bathroom did not work (small light) staff was awful except one staff who was helpful. winding staircase. it should be a b£B not a hotel. no one to contact after 9.30 in case of erergency as you make contact im the crows restaurant which closes. no phone for reception contact. bad experience overall
Excellent shower in Room 7. However, nowhere to put anything in bathroom; no hook for hanging dressing gown. Excellent breakfast. The blue ceiling light in room 7 which lit the room the entire night. We had to endure this ghostly light for the entire night. Can't be seen in daylight. Police cars screaming past with sirens blaring (counted 7 times in 2 hours on Saturday night). Perhaps hotel could complain to polic authorities. Having to go outside to get to room. Dirty carpet on stairs. Room 7 didn't resemble any of the rooms shown on internet. Were those photos your other hotel?
The Crow's Nest was lovely and very clean and they even put an entra bed in our room (for a friend that we did pay for but no extra towel or cup) staff where lovely and would stay and recommend the place again for groups of friends and couples but not for family's with young children. Getting a phone call the day before saying they had double booked our room to which I replied but you added a bed yesterday in our twin room - Sorry not you I mean't to phone then said the surname - to which I said it is her 40th that is why we are all staying - I gave the names of everybody in our party and he said ok I will phone ???????????? but have to admit he did say at the start of the conversation we will book you another hotel - which I thought was strange as we had been trying all week which is why we asked if they could fit another bed in our room - felt sorry for anybody else if they did get a phone call saying they where double booked a day before setting off.
Room fabulous and staff very friendly and made the service personal
Very centrally located in Lancaster. The shower was powerful. Cosy room. Did not feel the bathroom had been cleaned properly - There was a squirt of cleaner around the toilet bowl however the obviously soiled toilet seat was missed which I cleaned myself prior to using. Toilet seat also loose. Pool of soap in shower cubicle from dispenser - suggets again this had not been cleaned. The yoghurts and toast were nice at breakfast but the bacon was horrible - thick, tasteless and greasy.
Very clean and warm room. Great value for money.
Clean, great breakfast and right in the center of everything. Noisy
bed comfortable, room clean and comfortable.restarurant good and hotel situated close to all parts of town centre. we didnt take car because car parking limited
Pleasant helpful staff. A good choice at breakfast. It was what you might call "shabby chique". In its Victorian hay day it would have been splendid and many aspects of that era remain, which was good. However the decor and carpets could do with a face lift and a general overhaul.
only stayed 1 night instead of 2 because of room room was dull with a very small window
excellent room. breakfast was very good with plenty avaiable
Friendly & welcoming staff, despite our arrival at 12.30am! Although the area is a little run down, it was reassuring to see the carpark was well lit. We had the four poster bed which was a nice surprise - the room has a fantastic view of Morecombe Bay. The cooked breakfast was great - my husband was thrilled that there was black pudding on the menu! A very minor point - the stewed tea, which you help yourself too but this did seem to taste better with my fry up!
Staff very pleasant, room comfortable and clean. Evening meal - food good and value for money. Breakfast - good buffet with fruit, grapefruit, prunes, selection of cereals, yogurts, pastries, also full English cooked breakfast, as much fruit juice, tea and coffee as one wished.
location Our trip coincided with a large birthday party as a consequence, he breakfas was dire...maybe the chef was hungover
The room was comfortable and spacious. Staff were quite friendly (the morning reception staff more so than anyone else). The breakfast. It took an absolute age to come, and we were pointedly ignored by staff for at least 20 minutes before anyone even bothered to lay up the table and ask if we wanted any coffee etc. We then had about another half-an-hour wait for the cooked breakfast (they were not that busy), and when it came it looked as though it had been sitting on a warming shelf for some time - I have never seen such shrivelled mushrooms in my life!
Location was good. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were excellent. Double room was a little cramped
The best thing about the Clarendon, were the friendly staff and the position on the front
Friendly staff and they were very eager to accomadate is in rooms of our choice. Very noisy main road position and very limited parking for our cars. The breakfast was limited in choice everyone was given the same large cooked breakfast and we were not asked what we would like.
very comfortable ,made us very welcome food very good would use the hotel again
Rooms are 2 small no bath in room only shower.
Hotel was good in terms of food, service and team in the hotel. Parking was listed as available on the website - there is only one space in a very narro car park at the rear of the hotel - the rest is on-road parking and is very busy.
good breakfast and wonderful view of Morecambe Bay. Very cordial staff and very clean. nothing
bar was closed at 10pm we had to ask to open it, drinks were flat (lemonade mixer) and when told she couldnt understand it because she only opened the bottle yesterday. Orange wkd was out of date by 4 mths.
The location was ideal, easy walk to all the amenties, railwaystation and tourist information
We left early in the morning and weren 't able to get breakfast which was included in the price of the room.
Staff were friendly. The accommodation was rather dated but comfortable and fair for the price. Before our stay, we did not receive a reply to an email and were unable to get an answer on the telephone. (There was an answer machine.)
Easy to find, nice clean room with good shower, nice breakfast, nice people. Decor a little old
The hotel was ideally situated, and the room had been fitted out beautifully. Whilst in the shower, the hot light fitting fell out of the celing on to my husband's chest. Upon reporting this to staff, there was no apology.
Staff were professional and friendly. May be as a minor point put some 'night service' on as we couldnt get a drink after 9.00pm as the bar was too busy.
We stayed in the executive suite and it was great. Particluarly like the small touches, such as fresh coffee and a cafetiere in our bedroom. The breakfast was excellent.
We thought the staff were all very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The room was wonderful and big as was the bed. It has a really nice relaxing atmosphere and we'll definitely recommend and come back.
The room was delightful and in the attic!
Room and breakfast
Nice bar and food, staff very friendly Bit noisy in the street below (central location)
Everything. The room was lovely, well appointed and cared for, the breakfasts were delicious! I had just found out that my painful 'sprain' was a broken leg(!) and they could not have been more kind and helpful no
Decor of room excellent, breakfast very good. Car parking nightmare & not adequately explained. Unacceptable to have to leave room to keep'moving' car - paying considerable parking, walking distances in rain etc. Room also way toohot with noobvious means of cooling - windows not opening.
helpful staff and delicious breakfast pity there was no on-site parking, but the Parksafe park was very handy and reasonably priced
Very pleasant room and excellent food
The food was great Parking was a bit of a walk
Interior design of bedroom POsition (on busy road)
The room had been well modernised and teh staff were freindly and helpful.
Good modern rooms linked to pleasant bar area and restaurant. Excellent helpful staff
Excellent stay and unexpectedly good. Nicely renovated good breakfast and brilliant value for money
modern, comfortable place, relaxed atmosphere
nice room Very noisy, being opposite Revolution bar/club so definitely can't recommend. Also, alot of noise within the hotel itself the night we stayed.
install a proper heatingsystem and I might come back! Room too cold and not clean
very nice neat and clean room with all modern amenities, very comfortable beds, very good bath room, overall it was a pleasure in staying there. nothing
cleanliness, ambience bed was uncomfortable.
The accomodation is an excellent base for travelling around. We did not find the staff particularly welcoming and at times felt almost like we were a hinderance.
Freindly helpful staff, nice food in restaurant
Ease of checking in/out. Personal guide to room and hotel services. Breakfast cooked freshly to order with excellent selection. Nothing
Friendly staff keen to provide a good level of customer service - superb views over the bay
The Room Was Very Good And Clean And The View Over The Bay Was Fantastic I Didnt Dislike Anything
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was no hot water after 8.30pm.
The Breakfast was excellent. The owner was very friendly The initial first point of contact at reception was disappointing
flexibility of the staff. made us an early breakfast.
Location, view Just in need of updating, but probably similar to many others in this depressed town.
I am a regular guest at St. Winifred's Hotel and particularly appreciate the homely atmosphere and the welcoming staff. Nothing is too much trouble and every effort is made to ensure one is comfortable. There is nothing that I would wish to criticize about St. Winifred's.
the owner and his wife were very nice cold in bedroom at night
Great views to the beach-front directly outside our room. No milk in room for tea, scary lift and out-dated decor.
Breakfast and service was very good - staff were very attentive. View from the window was pretty good too. Not much, the decor was a little tired but what do you expect for that price.
Everything - lovely accomodation, setting and excellent service
The size of the room The room although specified non smoking stank when we arrived and no alternative could be found. The chamber maids entered the room without knocking in the morning whilst I was in the bath with the door open! Then proceeded to shout throughthe door to ask what time we were checking out.
Excellent accommodation; clean and well presented. Good leisure facilities. Pleasant and helpful staff. Nothing!
everything. We have stayed here defore and are diamond resort members, and were fortunate to find a late break through you.
We liked the friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff when we arrived. We were really pleased with the size and the spaciousness of our studio. We enjoyed a coffee in the relaxing atmosphere of the Great Hall Only one drawback which was the poor sineage travelling north up the A 5888, you need to look out for the sign for the Catholic Church
Very pleased with the room. staff were very friendly, and we both enjoyed the evening meal. would go again. thanks No
The setting was beautiful. The apartment was fantastic and very well equipped. Meals were quite pricey and not great not really a great choice. Not enough toiletries put into the apartment i.e. toilet rolls. Shop on site could have done with stocking more variety.
Luxurious accomodation in stunning buildings at an affordable price with great staff.
Our studio room was delightful - unfortuntely we could only stay for one night. It would have been ideal for a week's self-catering holiday. We were rather surprised to have to pay to use the swimming pool.
Good Facilities. Comfort.
The interior of the hotel was fabulous! Very clean and luxurious. The bed was amazing, the most comfortable nights sleep I have had in a long time. Very expensive to eat or have a drink at the bar. I did book a superior room on the website only to be telephoned by the hotel to inform me that this was unavailable and would have to have a standard double. However, the standard double was perfectly acceptable and still luxurious.
the food was excellent hotel service was superb a very relaxing place to stay would reccomend it liked everything
Everything, food, staff hospitality, everything The food was excellent but slightly expensive
Comfortable and extremely clean. Excellent service from staff with exceptional attention to detail. Fabulous food. Just like staying with friends!
Loved the sitting rooms with sofas and good quality board games and lots of books to read. Also the trouble taken to ensure we had suggestions for local walks with maps and guide books. Cramped bathroom.
Friendly polite staff, fabulous location, beautiful decor and wonderful restaurant.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel comfortable and homely, food excellent, lots of local and homemade produce, wine reasonably price and good choice of organic wines. Bowl of fruit, bottled water as well a range of different teas and fresh milk. Room in need of decoration, but we didn't have the room we had originally booked as we had to change our plans at the last minute. Ground coffee in the room but no peculator to make it in.
Staff were helpful and accommodating. Laid out very early breakfast for three Peaks walkers Expensive
The food and service was outstanding based in an idyllic setting, perfect base for walking. The room was standard in terms of cleanliness and the shower room was somewhat cold
very pleasant atmosphere-staff really helpful -food excellent-decor good-moulton brown toiletries bathroom small & bath could have done with replacement-
A lovely building with mostly good staff and nice food We had to wait a long time for our dinner order to be taken, the restaurant was cold and we felt that it proved to be a very expensive one night stay at £300
The grand spiral staircase beckons one to ascend - it is a magnificent yet functional design. The glazed terrace invites relaxation and the bed was one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. The rotunda bar, whilst being expensive was not unreasonably so and its design is out of this world. The room was very well "turned-out" and cleanliness was next to none - full marks to the housemaids. Reception staff were very willing and able to help with all matters that arose The food was gourmet style and very tasty. However, I do not like feeling hungry after finishing a meal, as I did when leaving your restaurant. Food quality excellent, food quantity very poor value for the price.
Hotel staff were friendly and made up room swiftly. The rooms were designed very well beautiful surroundings. Spa was closed. As we checked in we were told that the spa was done that corridor but was closed today. Not much use to us. Should have been informed before. If you were there only for a relaxing spa break you would have been very disappointed
Beautiful Art Deco interior, excellent attentive staff, excellent food, unique rooms, fantastic sea views - a piece of living history. We will return soon!
Everything from start to finish
Friendly staff. Lovely hotel with great food. Would stay again.
magnificent art-deco interior, fabulous views from very comfortable and functional bedrooms, excellent food served in lovely glass fronted dining room overlooking Morecambe Bay, difficult to find fault, one night was not long enough
Staff & warmth + view excellent The Dinner & Lunch menu was the same There was nothing plain on the menu ie, the pea & ham soup tasted sweet! the steak was served with Cray fish & was tough.Who ever designed the rooms should get their 70 + grannie to sleep in one! I could write a book about what is wrong with the rooms.
Interesting to appreciate the refurbishment of an iconic building.
location Room was a mismatch of colours carpet frayed not good value for money everything looks very tired and in need of new decoration and new bedlinen curtains etc
I was there for a specific purpose and, hence, necessity G&T was £3.10. Ouch!
Generally very good, good location, friendly and helpful staff and nice room and good food and beer!
The 4-poster bed was a surprise. the room was great and the food godd and also cheap. Slightly scruffy parts to the room, but only fair wear and tear really.
The relaxing atmosphere. Nothing.
The effort of the owners and their communication of their staff. The hotel is also adjacent worderful walking country
The situation The decor was very tired and dated. The food was stuck in a time-warp and appeared to owe a lot to the microwave
The location - excellent for walkng into the surrounding area Run down, more of a pub with rooms, in need of full refurbishment, bored staff, dirty room, decoration peeling off, mould in bath sealant, the worst value for money hotel I've stayed in. should be £50 tops
Clean with all amenities on site Some fittings, fixtures, etc in a state of disrepair. Length of time taken to answer complaints - request for IT support over 3 hours and request to housekeeping ignored.
Ease of access to the city Shower curtains were not clean
It was close to the centre, taxi into town in the evening was £5, there was adequate parking, the rooms were quite big and it was very comfortable.
The staff could not provide adequate info. about places to visit such as Cotswold and how to get there.
location there was a two month old newspaper under he bed
Used en-route stop over driving to Scotland very convenient for motorway. Impersonal and characterless public areas. Buffet breakfast adequate; no better than the typical British hotel buffet. WiFi by third party supplier not value for money.
A good size, very clean room with air con which was great. Nice breakfast with good variety.
Clean, modern, spacious and quiet. For £85 per night for an 'executive' room, we expected a double bed rather than two singles and there was no hot water in the morning.
the location and the view from the dining/breakfast area the staff lack of knowledge about places of interest in surrounding area
gym expensive drinks
